Once again Lolah Lace authoress extraordinaire has kept my ass up reading her scandalous book I'm happy to say. Lol 😂 Kelby is going through some real messed up shit. I have to say it's something that we all go through somehow someway we get dumped by I'll boyfriend for no apparent reason some of us experience cheating by this boyfriend and having a baby outside of the relationship that happens every day all day everywhere. But when this happens to Kelby. She's really thrown for a loop oh boy was seeing a girl that lives in the same complex and he had a baby with this chick and she has to bump into them every now and again and of course this other chick is nasty for no reason other then she Can be. Kelty find herself alone with a high school diploma and a low wage job that by the way she just was fired from she's in a bad place emotionally and financially. Her best friend offered her a job. As an escort a.k.a. a s restitution. This is a hard turn left for her but she makes that left unfortunately she falls in love with the client. Our author is very good at stirring up rachedness s and I love it. And I know you will too definitely five stars
I am waiting for all 3 parts of the story to come out before really expressing what I thing about this book. Book 1 was not enough for me to really decide.
Really not my cup of tea! The h is weak and the H is a bully. The author lists this as dark and erotic. It's sad and perverted. The h down on her luck allows her best friend to convince her to become a hooker. h has no family and her only friend wants her to become a whore. H is a insecure bastard but h still falls in love after 3 days of being called a black whore and slut! And, this crap is spread over three books! I have read other works by this author and have come to the conclusion he/she has a very low opinion of women of color and views them as objects to be abused and degraded. Perhaps there are women who would tolerate this type of behavior and treatment. If so, it's time to left them up. The book has grammatical and editing mistakes. I did not enjoy this book.
This was my 1st book by Lolah Lace and it will not be my last. I totally loved the story. I actually felt like I was watching the story instead of reading it. Kelby had some man trouble. The ex-boyfriend appears to have just ran over her and used her. And this she meets Mister T and she lets him use her as well. I think they have some serious chemistry between them. Mr T. is a troubled man and Kelby seems just like the type of woman that can help him because of what she has been through in life. Great start to this series.
Loved it. I love it when Ms Lace goes all out love and hip hop/ real house wives of atlanta.
Lolah often pushes the boundaries of what I think is morally acceptable behaviour and yet at the end I find myself making excuses for her characters.
I don't want to give anything away so I'll just say if you've read her balls to the wall series and enjoyed it, then get your finger on that download button.
Minor issue, Ms Lace seriously needs an editor. There are too many typos. Excusable, but not 5 years down the line from her first published book.
I'm not opposed to an author taking risks after all "A Constant Reminder" is one of my all time favorite reads. But I struggled to find a connection in reading "Heart Of Glass".
Kelby is likable enough. Given an option by a friend due to her current situation. Sometimes get creative with the cards you have been given to play. I do understand her choice.
Antonio is seriously mentally unstable. Goodness I cannot wait for his back story.
Overall I am on the fence with this story. Though I gave it two stars. I am interested in where Kelby and Antonio story is headed. I will be purchasing book two.
This is my review and how I see it. In Heart of Glass, author Lolah Lace gives a look at what someone will do when they are desperate.
Kelby - she lost her man, her job and she was about to be homeless.
Tonio - a celebrity who wanted to pay for a woman's time who wasn't an escort.
First, let me get this out. This book might not be your cup of tea if you cannot abide a woman talking her friend into making some fast money the easy way. It has been done since the beginning of time, as a matter of fact. Now back to my review...Lahaisha offers Kelby a way to make some money. Kelby could have told her no, sleazebag she didn't cause to me she wanted a way to move away from her sleazy ex and his trifling baby mama.
Anywho...Tonio I believe was looking for love and he caught feelings too, otherwise, way did he come back a second time. Yes, he was an unlikeable and yes a bit on the cray cray when he ended things the first time, but that was his fault. He told her that he was going to make her fall in love with him and he did. This right here is like that old adage of 'Be careful what you wish for it might just come true.'
Now, what surprised me was what happened at the end, but then again if you play with fire you tend to get burned. I can't read the next book in this series.
Great read! I really loved it! Lolah Lace is at it again, with another one of her dark and provocative stories. This book is thought provoking and unique. She's the best at creating leading-men/characters that we presumed to hate, only to realized that we loved them just as much. I loved everything about this book. I'm not a fan of cliffhangers but this author always makes it so hard for me to wait until all the books in the series are released. If you're not a fan of books with cliffhangers then you might want to wait until all the books are available. Book 2 is already out. Great job Lolah.
I liked it. I was OK with the escort job. It's not my thing, but who am I to judge. This is why I like to read about things that just do not happen in my world. The story of Kelby (waitress) and Antonio (wealthy mystery man who needs an escort). Kelby is having a hard time. Her boyfriend cheated and left her, and she lost her job. She needs money to survive and a friend encourages her to become an escort for at least one very lucrative weekend. Of course she agrees and ends up falling for the guy, knowing it's a one time deal.
The sex between these two was rough, rough and rough! Antonio was no punk in the sheets! There was not much else to the story. The end was pretty predicable, but ended with a glimpse into the future. I started to DFN it and then, I kept reading. I had to give a good rating because it kept me interested and had me quickly downloading the next book.
Why Not 5 Stars?
Writing style - The style was rough for me. Not enough details when describing things that should have been described and then over describing small things. I usually do not mind some editing mistakes, but there were so many I noticed them and it started to take away from the story.
This book I went and started with a open mind and I must say it was a very emotional spinning story loved it can't wait to read the next part keep up the great work looking forward to more
This was my first read by this author. It was OK, but pretty far fetched. Kelby was too pathetic in my opinion and Tonio was a jerk. I hate cliffhangers.
WOW this for me is Ms Lace at her very best! I love her most when she's unapologetic and does what she does best, and in Heart of Glass she does just that and then some. This book had me right from the get go, and once I started reading, I just couldn't stop. I hardly got a wink's sleep last night because I was that hooked. Antonio and Kelby's story was fast paced and laced with dark undertones some readers may not have the heart for.
I'm not big on dark romance stories, but I feel Ms Lace gave this story perfect balance. This book ticked all the boxes for me. Although some may see the drop dead gorgeous Antonio as some monster with a heart of glass, I see right through him. He may even believe within himself that Kelby is just another one of his conquests that he can chuck out with the rubbish, but I feel that she got to him good. Also, this book is a highly charged, deliciously erotic read that will have you all hot under the collar. There's no mistaking the the hot- off -the- charts chemistry between Antonio and Kelby.
I have always said Ms Lace has a way with words, and this book was no different. It is laced with some very funny bits that had me howling out in laughter. Joel and Kelby's girlfriend in particular, are a real hoot and will have you in stitches all through the book. I loved both of them and hope we'll see them in the other two books. I LOVED this book so much I can't wait to find out why Antonio became this jaded and cold man, also to see what's in store for him, Kelby and the new addition we found out about at the end.
NB: I hate to say this, but there are some editing and proofreading issues that need ironing out. They didn't bother me enough to spoil my reading though.
Leave it to Ms. Lace to offer up to readers subject matter that many may find hard to stomach. Often times her characters are slightly rough around edges and absolutely "messy" in how they handle the situations she writes them into. Ms. Lace's heroine Kelby is presented with an opportunity of becoming a prostitute (not an escort) in order to make ends meet. Despite her misgivings, she agrees to pursue this line of work and encounters her "John" - Tonio. Let me stop right here and say someone needs to call a therapist pronto for this hero. I personally wanted to knee him in the nuts for how he treated Kelby. However, this is what had me reading this work to the end. Although not a fan of cliffhangers and this male character, Ms. Lace has certainly given me enough to want to find out how this couple's relationship concludes. I am looking forward to reading the second installment Heart of Stone.
I have a great love for Lolah Lace books but this book was not what I thought, don't get me wrong I liked it, but something was missing. I'm not sure what it was. I liked Kelby even though I thought her character could have done better for herself. Antonio was a straight a$$, I don't care how good you look, how great your body is and what your profession is you don't get to treat people like crap just because you got ish going on in your life that you don't know how to deal with!! I can't believe that he got upset because she didn't tell him her secret....well Mr. T you told her not to contact you or else you would do some pretty awful things to her...think on that before you get up in your feelings! All in all it was a decent read and I did read it in one sitting. I am looking forward to the next installment.
