Tonio is a extremely handsome talented movie star with two Academy Awards under his belt But he has some issues self-esteem issues. He also has baby mama issues. Kelby is the love of his life and vice versa but for whatever reason he puts up roadblocks at every turn. Hopefully they'll get their shit together. But in the meantime I'm enjoying the ratchetness LOL 😂
I could NOT stop reading it! The hot mess of a relationship between Antonio and Kelby continues. This time, Antonio is trying to cope with his new life while battling the demons of his childhood and what he does not want to become.
Again, I wanted to stop reading this book and could not. I wanted to beat down Antonio for being so mean and Kelby for being so pitiful! It ends in a cliffhanger. I'm currently frustrated because the third book has not been released yet.
Why Not 5 Stars? Writing Style - not a fan of the writing style. It went very quickly with non-existent descriptions. I did not get to know new characters that were introduced, their surroundings, etc. It was rushed/insta writing. Still editing issues.
Maaaannn listen .... The H is a straight up arsehole. And why is the h so weak? I'd have kicked his arse a long time ago. Complete POS. Anxiously awaiting the next book. Hopefully with a proof reader.
This book is a roller coaster ride for your emotions. One minute I was like...Noooo, Yessss, What the Hell, Did I just read that? Don't do it Shelby, Omg..He's a lunatic! Goodness..I love it😊
I will definitely say this book might not be for all. Lolah's writing style is unique.
I have already purchased book 3. Thank you for another wonderful read.
If I could give minus stars I would. I read book two with the hope this author would portray the female lead in a more positive light. Unfortunately, it's just as bad if not more degrading as book one. The H basically rapes the h whenever the mood strikes. The bs about his depraved father's behavior resulted in his constant degradation of the black mother of his son is stupid and an insult to the reader's intelligence. If a person of color, especially a woman of color, wrote this tripe, you have lost several readers. The characters are not complex. The H needs psychological help and the h needs to realize she is not a slave at the mercy of the slave owner. There is no redemption for a man that treats a Black Woman like she is subhuman. I am done with this mess. I refuse to read book 3 even if it is on KU. There are too many authors writing in this genre to subject myself to what could only be described as a book about self hatred.
I have never called a women weak, But Kelby is the weakest chick I've ever read about (make me sick). I've been dick whoop, but not to that level. Antonio is very disrespectful, controlling, womanizer, mentally abusive. He's and very much in love with her; but he seriously need to seek professional help. In the end i felt really bad for both of them. My biggest problem with him is everytime she say no to him he turns ugly and say hurtful things to her. I really don't want to continue this series due to the Kelby lack of backbone. Im just hoping in the last book that shit goes down for Antonio. He deserve a big lesson.
Phew! Good lord, this was intense! This second book is certainly worthy. At this stage Antonio and Kelby's addiction to each was like an uncontrolled roller coaster ride. Their relationship was tumultuous, messy, dysfunctional and at times borderline. I couldn't get enough and at no time could I predict what would happen next or where the story was going. It was fast paced and had me spellbound.
At the end of this chapter in Antonio and Kelby's drama filled lives, their relationship were in shambles. I'm excited to see how they will repair it. I'm so ready for book 3. If you are like me and like messy dysfunctional and tempestuous stories, then I highly recommend this one.
Tonio is a little to much for me. This book had me wanting to hit him, then like awwww, then hit him again. Kelby seemed like a stronger lead character in this book than the 1st. But that cliff hanger at the end had me looking up on all sites...where is book 3?!?
Tonio and Kelby's story continues in this second book and all I can say is WOW!!! Right from the first page, we're taken through a series of twists and turns that grabbed me by the throat and never let go until the very end. Ms Lace ups the ante on what was already a scorching hot, suspenseful tale of a love so troubled yet so promising it left me panting for more.
Tonio, damn Tonio... I wanted so badly to HATE him for his shoddy treatment of Kelby. I also wanted to shake some sense into Kelby for seemingly just taking it. BUT equally, I'm praying Kelby gets the HEA she so deserves, but not before she makes Tonio get down and REALLY GROVEL and woo her like she deserves.
Ms Lace keeps pushing the boundaries and continues to cement her place in my heart as one of the most skilled narrators of this genres. I can't wait for the next instalment in this series!
This is an excellent follow-up to Heart of Glass. As usual Ms. Lace's preference for writing about "taboo" situations remains front and center. I love that she continues to take chances with her writing and fully commits to writing characters who you either love or hate. In Heart of Stone, the drama is off the chain and continues once Tonio returns and confronts Kelby. I was honestly hoping that with the time apart, Tonio was in therapy. However, he continues to dig deeper into Kelby's life and messes with her head and emotions to the point where she is not thinking rationally because she is so in love. I HATED Tonio for acting this way and wanted to knee him on behalf Kelby. This offering by Ms. Lace was a dramatic yet realistic tale of love and lust headed in the wrong direction. This reader is certainly eager to read the final installment of this series and hope that these characters can redeem themselves and get to their HEA.
