Long ago, the Gods came back to earth and banished all science from Earth. When Prome finds an amulet in the ruins of an ancient city, he doesn’t expect it to take him and his friend Malia on a quest to discover the long forgotten secret of the Technologists, to meet someone who awakens feelings of love in him, nor to defy the Gods themselves.

The writing is awful

I chose to read this book based on the presented plot. It intrigued me, to say the least. Still, even if the plot made this story better - the writing is simply horrible. I.e at one point 3 sentences in a row started with "we", at another point - in ch30 I think - "immediately" was used 3 times over 4 or 5 sentences, the text read "shoot", but I'm pretty sure it was supposed to say 'shout'.

This was the case throughout the book, a limited vocabulary, and a generally flat storytelling sprinkled with typos.
The only reason I read the whole thing - because yes, yes I did - was so I could write this review.

The romantic storyline felt forced and really , who thinks they're in love with someone before they've even had a conversation .... Only to then hate the person for most of the remainder of the book. Though it seemed that the author forgot this several times along the way.

The ending was equally dissatisfying, too easy, too fast, but I really wasn't suddenly expecting a wholesome story.

To summarize: if you're not fluent in English you might enjoy the storyline, but if you are: Do. Not. Read. It. In my opinion it's horrible.

At first I struggled with this story, but eventually I warmed up to it. I still have some unanswered questions and I thought the ending could have been fleshed out a little more (I have so many questions about the gods), but the book had lots of action and some very interesting concepts.
