Diversify Us
Alese Morrison is a fifth grade student at George Washington Carver Elementary School in Newark, New Jersey. Alese and her fellow classmates were tasked with a very tedious homework assignment to get their minds going. Some of them were up for the challenge, while the others relished in procrastinating.
This homework assignment would open up discussions for debate, create open dialogue, and show various perspectives on life. Diversify Us allows youth to think and talk about diversity in various environments. It allows them to look at it at school, home, work, and in the communities where they reside. Diversity is a very big topic and is sometimes narrowed down to one of two things. The objective of this book is to broaden the views of diversity and what it means to other people.
This book will give youth the opportunity to look at diversity in genders, race, socioeconomic status, states, and much more.

Melica Niccole
27 books7 followersMelica Niccole was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. Growing up on the Southeast Side, she attended schools such as: Livingston Elementary, Barrett Middle, and Briggs High Schools. She also lived in New Jersey for approximately five years, where she co-founded an annual Children’s Book Festival in Camden, New Jersey and participated in local events. Melica developed a fondness of writing and creating things at an early age. Writing was a creative expressive technique that she used to talk about various subject matters, such as relationships, domestic violence, friendships, and more. These subjects were mainly expressed in the form poetry.
After graduating from college, Melica sought to be a published author. Although she did not become a published author right after her undergraduate work at Otterbein University, the drive and determination within her stayed the same. She has performed in front of audiences at The National Black Book Festival, Inspired Word NYC, The Ohio State University, Newark Public Library (New Jersey), Laughin & Loungin, Writing Wrongs Poetry open mic events, and other places around the country. Her hard work finally paid off in August of 2010 when she released her first book titled, Dead Wrong. She has written 19 books with 4 Children’s Books in development and 1 Kindle Vella work also in development.
Melica has a Master’s Degree in Health Administration with a certificate in Human Resources. She was awarded the Diversity (2018) and Leadership and Citizenship Award (2019) from Otterbein University due to her work with children’s book drives and helping to create a children’s book festival.
She has worked with individuals with Developmental Disabilities, Mental Health Diagnosis, At-risk youth, children, and various populations for about 15 years.
Melica loves living outside the box and creating new and exciting things. She believes that anything is possible with passion and determination.
