She was a stranger who helped him when he was in a bind. Two months later they meet again and again. In a city of millions, is that coincidence or fate?
COLE After a grief-filled year assuming guardianship of my orphaned teenage half-siblings, they’re heading to college, and I’m moving to New York City, continuing my medical career, and resuming my life.
In a city of millions, figuring out my new beginning is rough, then chance throws a familiar stranger in front of me at a food cart. She’s the perfect place to start, too bad she wants nothing to do with me. Tragedy taught me life is too short to give up on what you want, and I want Samantha Cooper.
SAM I’m starting fresh, opening my dream gym, living with my best friend. I know what I want, but Cole Rossner keeps showing up and screwing with my plans. I’m not ready to move on from my past, but his charm and big heart chisel away my walls.
Soon, the lines between friends to more blur. Opening up to a romantic relationship isn’t easy, even with a guy like Cole, and when a missed chance from the past is brought to light, it feels as though fate might have the last laugh.
This friends to more adult contemporary novel is the perfect mix of 90's nostalgia, drama, and sweet romance.
Hi! Mindy Michele is the co-writing duo of sweet romances with low to medium heat, such as the Paper Planes Series, the Seaside Pointe novels, and The Archer and His Rosebud.
We’re pretty awesome! We like singing in the car, eating white cheddar popcorn, and going on road trips together. You’ll find us sharing a table at a few book signings each year. We have a love of romance, New York, anything sweet, and great books.
To find out more you can hunt us down on social media. We’re all over the place!
LOVED IT!!! I really enjoyed the second in this series. I love the idea of these people meeting through this one event and how it changes all their lives. Such good writing, depth of characters and the emotions they experienced. Can't wait for Amber's story!!!
So excited to write this review! First, the basics: Subway Stops is book 2 out of a soon to be 3 book series and each book focuses on a pairing in which the characters are connected to the crash of Flight 397 off the coast of Long Island. I highly recommend reading the first book, "Paper Planes and Other Things We Lost", before tackling "Subway Stops and The Places We Meet" so 1. you can get the background on almost every main character in this series and 2. so you can fall in love with the first love story (seriously it's worth it). To my fellow Paper Planes veterans, "Subway Stops" is a bit different from "Paper Planes" in that instead of two seniors in high school trying to figure out their lives and grieving, we have two adults in their 20s living in the same location of New York City. We have the cheeky yet lovable Cole who is introduced in "Paper Planes" and the tough and creative Sam as our main characters. Sam is a strong heroine and Cole is a really great guy. I won't go into specifics because some people really hate spoilers and it's important for you to read it for yourself. But I will say this: expect it to have a different feel than Paper Planes. The characters are older and going through somewhat different challenges than our pairing in the first book. It has a bit of a "When Harry Met Sally" kind of feel and if you love New York, the 90s, that film, and strong writing, I think it's a safe bet that you will love this book too. The same: we get to see a beautiful friendship grow, same format of naming each chapter after a song from the year the book takes place in, and the topic of fate.
When I finished PAPER PLANES and found out there was going to be a book 2, I was over the hill excited. But I wasn't sure that the magnificent duo, Michele and Mindy, could pull off another fabulous book within the same series. A book that could give me the feels that PAPER PLANES did. But let me tell you...THEY DID AND THEN SOME! These beautiful ladies gave me...well all of us...a book that shook me to my core. A book that brought on the feels. A book that had me giddy with anticipation every time I picked it up. A book that I believe is better than the first. Yeah, I said it. Better. Than. The. First.
Now, while this book wasn't as deeply emotional as the first, I was entranced by it still. It had me smiling and mentally cursing the characters all within the same scene. I wanted and needed for some of the characters to work through their grief a little faster than they were because I could see the best thing to ever tumble into their world walking out the door if they didn't do it quick enough. But I wasn't expecting one of those characters to be so determined to stay. To see this love through to the end. I honestly don't think they did either. I think they were content in having this person in their world however it may be. Confused yet? Yeah I tend to do that to people. But I think once you read this book you will be like, "Oh yeah, I get her now. I see what she was saying."
Cole wasn't one I was too crazy about from PAPER PLANES. We saw bits and pieces of him in that book, but he really came to life in SUBWAY STOPS. And I fell so hard for him. Seriously hard. Like insta-love connection with him. He is the sweetest, most kindest guy out there in the book world at the moment. And Sam was..well she had her moments of driving me insane. But it all came together once we see what she has been through. And then she would dive right back into driving me insane again. All in all, she is still a great character, just has some issues to work through.
SUBWAY STOPS was such an amazing story with a beautiful, unfolding romance that captures you up into a warm and caressing hold. You will not want to put it down. Like at all. It will torture you to be away from it for very long. So get on it now and see what all the fuss is. Oh, and Amber gets her story next!! I am so looking forward to reading that one. 5 Stars!!
One of the best parts of this book for me is that it is part of a series and I LOVED the first book (Paper Planes and other things we lost - download it!) and it this isn't the end! The premise of this series starts with a catastrophic plane crash and follows the story of the positive things can come from something so negative.I enjoyed following along on Samantha and Cole's random run ins - maybe New York isn't that big of a town after all! What I enjoy the most out of this writing duo is that even though each takes a character everything is seamless and flows beautifully. I am a huge fan and will forever read anything by both of these ladies whether individually or collaboratively!
This was such a sweet story and great continuation to Paper Planes. In the first book you meet Cole who was left with the responsibility of taking care of his half siblings Brett and Amber. Cole is figuring out how to balance his life of taking two teenagers and also become a Doctor.
In this book we meet Samantha in the beginning when her and Cole have a chance encounter at the Flight 397 memorial. Through out the book we see Cole and Sam meet at different times and watch their friendship grow. There are tears and laughter that make you feel the full array of feelings.
This book was so cute. I swear it should be a Hallmark movie!. It has Drama and love fate and second chance Romance all into one. It would me a cute show.
In the book we meet a young man named Cole is who is taking care of his half siblings Amber and Brett due to the crash of flight 367. They were all attending a memorial for 367. Amber was upset and ran into the bathroom and Cole was trying to figure out how he was going to get her out of there when get the help from a young women named Samantha. After they come out and Cole thanks her he wanted to get her name but she disappeared.
I don't want to ruin it for anyone because you really have to read it. The only thing I will say is will Fate bring these two back together will they find happiness will deal with there grief. With the help of friends Shawn and Monica who are supper funny by the way. Will they find each other again your just going to have to read it to find out.
PS I love how Burlington Vermont was in it. I love the shout out to my state it makes me Happy!
I'm a huge fan of Michele's work and I loved the first book in the series (Paper Planes) so it's probably no huge surprise that I fell in love with this story within the first few pages. Where the first book followed Brett, this one follows his big brother Cole and the journey he goes through from losing his Dad in the plane wreckage to falling in love with the wonderful, beautiful Sam. Once again, Michele and Mindy's writing goes hand in hand seamlessly so you read from one POV to another without realising they are written by different people. This is a brutally honest, realistic yet still magical account of love and finding your soulmate and learning to trust in fate and that the universe knows best.
Tell me why I took so long to get to this book! What a sweet romantic read. I fell head over heels in love with Cole. I need me a Cole. Seriously. Where can I find him?
I am glad that my path crossed with Michele and Mindy. You may call it fate.
If you want a sweet, heartfelt, romantically swoony book look no further. This is it.
And can we talk about the cover? Both of them. The original (my favorite) was drawn by Mindy. And it looks amazing on my book shelf.
This was such a great book. I loved the camaraderie between Cole and Samantha. Loved that they could be serious and laugh with each other too. I like the path Cole chooses to take with his relationship with Sam. I'm not sure how to review this book without spoiling it. It was definitely a great follow-up to book 1.
Loved this book! Maybe even more than the first book. It was prefect to watch the two main characters learn to love each other as friends and to learn to love themselves. The story felt so real with all the little moments that helped pull Cole and Sam together. Job well done!
I love the books by this writing combo. Such great romances. Mindy Hayes is one of my favorite writers and I need to dive into some of Michele’s since I own a few.
This is the story of Cole and Sam. Cole is the older brother from the first book. They run into each other at the memorial service and keep running into each other after that. It’s a friends to lovers romance. It’s beautiful how they fall in love. Go read all these authors books!
I love Mindy's books and I love Michele's books, so when they write something together you know it's going to be good! I loved the second book in the Paper Planes series. Mindy and Michele do such a great job of writing about real life, the inner conflicts and the intense emotions we all have. You feel like you can really relate to the emotions of the characters. They make you laugh, cry, and make you mad. And it has a happy ending- we all love those. I highly recommend this series!
Miller and Hayes give me ALL the feels. The second book in the Paper Planes trilogy did NOT disappoint. Their working together on these books is just what I needed, before I even knew I needed it!
Cole (swoon) and Sam are perfect for each other. The both suffered massive traumas to their lives that they didn't know how to cope with. Miller and Hayes tugged at my heart strings so hard that they ripped out my heart. But it's okay because the ending sewed it back up with a nice little bow. I can't wait to get my hands on Chasing Cars, the next book in their series. I need to learn more about hotness Amber. Girls, I need more! Keep writing and gimme all the words! -Taylor
This is a super sweet book about two people who keep running into each other. Sam and Cole run into each other for the first time at a memorial service. Cole was upset that he didn't get Sam's name the first time they ran into each other. Thanks to the stars aligning this two just right they run into each other several times. I really enjoyed this book and I need to read the first one before the third one comes out.
Let me start by saying that I loved Cole. On the first book I felt he was kind of mean but getting to know him in this book and learning his story I understood where he was coming from. He's sweet, funny and a true gentleman.
Sam on the other hand, I didn't love so much. I can't say in her situation I would've reacted in a better way cause I haven't been where she was but I think she was a lil mean to Cole sometimes and I really wanted to smack some sense into her. Gorgeous guy and she was running around the bushes
I have to admit when I first saw this book, I was eager to read it as I had loved the first book and had high expectations for this one. Also, the idea of fate meetings has been something I have always loved and thought romantic. The book starts off with a memorial service held for those who knew people who died in the Flight 397 which crashed off Long Island in June 1992. The book starts one year later; Cole is there with his younger siblings Brett and Amber. Amber locks herself in the toilet and Cole asks someone for help - that someone is Sam. They thank one another, and they go their separate ways. Months later, Cole is lining up for lunch, and Sam is in the same line. This is their second meeting. Their third will be months later again when Cole is heading home from his shift on the Subway, Sam is seated there and headed to her friend Monica's house. Throughout the book, Sam and Cole keep bumping into one another and eventually become really good friends. The thing is though that everyone but Sam and Cole thinks they should be together. I have to admit as I am not the type who likes to play games with people's hearts and emotions , this sort of book annoyed the heck out of me as I was like - Ok, you both lost people in the plane crash - move on and be together, stop all this back and forth. I know the idea was to have them meeting each other over and over again, but it got a bit too long, and the story just started to lose pace and float along. As it was, to be honest, would take another three years for them finally to move on, accept one another and begin dating. What I did find interesting about this book, was finding out some historical moments that happened in the early 90's like the bombing of the World Trade Centre in 1993. This surprised e as I was only aware of the terrorist attack in 2001. I think personally for me, if the book hadn't dragged on and had too much game playing for me, I would have given it a possible 4Ps instead of 3P's.
Subway Stops and the Places We Meet is a mesmerizing friends to lovers romance. Cole is a charming and extremely patient man. His flirty comments to Sam had me laughing throughout their story. Hayes and Miller impeccably combine comedy, angst, and grief in Cole and Sam's story.
Different to what I normally read however I got hooked after the first book and this book was just as addictive. Even made me cry in some bits, beautifully written and have book 3 ready to read ❤️
I really enjoyed this book and how the characters grow and develop. How they are real with emotions, flaws, qualities... How they fight for what they want, how they conquer their feers and become better persona altogether. Totally recommend it
