Follow Lynwen and her colleagues as they try to unfold the mystery of their divided magic. They discover a fallen god who plans to wreak havoc on their world. Lynwen fast realises that magic is no match for this new foe and the reunifying of their people will have to wait. Romance flourishes amid a battle for their lives as the beasts created by the fallen god tear their newly formed trust apart.
There was a strained peace between the Torian and Leian people but Lynwen belongs to neither side. An ancient mandate to protect Alhanassa’s vast knowledge places her in a precarious position as she is thrown into a group of mixed nationalities. However, overcoming the diversity within their small company forges friendships Lynwen will never forget.
Lynwen’s life in The Clar’han Order was simple and uncomplicated by romantic relationships but being away from The Order gave her the opportunity to seek out a little male companionship. Kendrich shares Lynwen’s passion for history, he is mysterious and charming, where Captain Colbon is hot-headed and arrogant. The prospect of figuring these two men out lighten her journey.
The expedition to the Northern Islands needs a Clar’han sister to oversee any information found and to secure artefacts for the benefit of all, not just one nation, but Lynwen is anxious from the start. One of the group members misleads her to believing she is important to their cause when in reality, just like the others, she is expendable. They battle the harsh terrain and the bitter cold of the season as well as the relentless beasts of a fallen god. An underhanded agenda to their trip puts them all in danger. Secrets and lies never end well.
I am a Yorkshire lass, born and bred, as they say. I come from a working class back ground were my parents worked hard to provide for us, we never really had lots of material things but we had each other and that was enough. My siblings and I would spend hours making up games and stories.
Being a child during the 70's and 80's meant that I went out to play when the weather was fine and played boardgames and read when we had to stay in. Reading was one of my favourite pass times, fantasy and supernatural books quickly became my favourite genres. At the age of 14 I read my first Stephen King book and was hooked!
I began writing about ten years ago but never plucked the courage up to show anyone my work. Yet over the years, I have learnt that writing is a great way to get rid of all the stuff going around in my head. My brother had written a few short stories for a magazine some years ago and still to this day writes, without publishing anything else. Now I can see that all that work could be giving joy to others.
Our family has encouraged us to publish our work. With independent publishing using eBooks being accessible to all people, I thought; why not. I am hoping that my brother will follow my example.
I hope you like my work. If you do, please leave a review. Thank You.
Oh my gosh! SD Stevens is a fantastic story teller! I don't read fantasy as a rule and usually stick to HEA but this book grabbed me, pulled me in and wouldn't let me go until I was done. This is an 'edge of your seat' tale filled with an interesting cast of characters, sexual tension, moments of humour and wonderful descriptions. The prologue is a bit weighty in its delivery of the backstory but persevere through that and you won't be disappointed!
I've currently given it 4 stars however the author says this is a work in progress and plans to tweak the prologue and fix a few typos. Once that is done, I'd have no hesitation in giving it 5 stars. Yes, it really is that good!
A new fantasy world to explore... I enjoyed this book with it's differing characters and it's own mythology. It's the first book in the Sisterhood Trilogy. I also read Bodelia's Anguish, the short story that introduces The Tales of Alhanassa, a prequel of sorts.
