Griffin Kade has mastered the art of dominating everything, and everyone, that stands in his way.
They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. If that's the case, then it's no wonder that Griffin himself rose up from the ashes of his childhood hell only to become the Herculean man that he is today. Through sheer will, a razor sharp mind, and a killer body that just won't quit, he easily holds his own as one of the biggest threats in the boardroom, and the bedroom, in all of Boston.
But when Griffin finds himself suddenly vulnerable and at the mercy of the courts in order to get his son back, blood is undoubtedly in the water.
In swims Tristan Harding...
Tristan is tall, lathered in muscle, and quite possibly the only man in this city who can match wits with the likes of Griffin Kade.
When Griffin stumbles into the virile young buck's brand new art studio to buy a simple painting per his idiotic lawyer's suggestion, he has no clue what he's about to come crashing into. Because the Harding boys have a major knack for getting other men hard for them right from the get go, and Tristan is no exception.
Glances are caught, seemingly innocent words are exchanged, and before either man can stop it, clothes are getting torn apart.
Now, both men are faced with a choice...
Either find the off button, fast, or risk losing everything they both spent their whole lives trying to protect.
Please note: Although Hard for Tristan is the first installment in The Harding Brothers series, it also serves perfectly well as a standalone with a guaranteed HEA!
I feel kind of dirty now because I just read this book. Not dirty in a kind of "that was some filthy sex" kind of way. Nope. Dirty in a "why did I just read something that bad" kind of way.
This book is awful.
Bad Man, really bad, but hot, meets Good Man, slightly angsty, and hot. They don't like each other. So they have sex. Not sure where, in a corridor maybe, it's all a bit unclear at this point. I'm also not sure what time it is, they were lots of people about last paragraph but they seem to be gone now so maybe some time has elapsed. Also not sure why one of them has a bare ass, pretty sure neither of them have taken his trousers off. After triple checking the last few pages I can confirm that his ass goes from clad in jeans to naked with no intermediary steps. Maybe his jeans melted? Maybe they were just ashamed to be in a book this bad?
Anyway, they do sexy things to each other and afterwards neither of them want to see the other again, except they do, because it's clearly more than lust, even though they have only exchanged a few terse sentences.
Bad Man does more Bad Things that will hurt Good Man. Good Man acquires a 2d brother to prop up his Good Status, in case we were unclear. They have sex again. Then there is HEA and implications of more sex.
On the plus side, it's unbelievably short. It ends at 58%. There seems to be a short story after. I am not even going there, I'm trying to claw back some self respect.
If you are prepared and forgiving to overlook a couple of missing words and editing mistakes in between what is essentially a garden of delight than this book is going to give you all sorts of thrills.
I just want to give a word of advise to the author though as with any garden if you want your words to flower beautifully than you have to take extra care to weed. This tale appears to be following the lives of three brothers so the next brother could get his turn to shine and that book will hopefully have flawless editing
Now onto the good.I wanted this novelette to be a longer, extremely longer.I wanted more of Tristan's family, more of his childhood, more of his brothers although there are brief random appearances of one of them.I wanted a more detailed background story of Griffin's horrific childhood, his marriage to a woman, his divorce, his battle for his son,his bisexuality. All these bits were hinted at in brief synopses but it felt as if crumbs were being thrown to a flock of starving birds.
This story was much bigger than the canvas it was painted on.These characters deserved more space. The author only took time to expand upon the instant attraction between the two men which was without fault except I just needed more.
On a darker day I would have scored this a 3.5 but because the writer made me crave more I'm going to settle on a 4 rating.
This book needs editing. There are numerous grammatical errors and random words in sentences which is really distracting. There's no depth to the characters unfortunately and Griffin is an arse that doesn't redeem himself.
I didn't like Griffin. That's why I gave this story three stars. Tristan was too nice and sweet for Griffin. The story was way too short and moved too fast. Griffin was just a horrible person. He didn't deserve Tristan.
I couldn't finish this book. I am sorry but I just couldn't.
Griffin : He was just too much of a a cliché. The cold-hearted man who keeps his cold-heart to himself until the day he stumble on THE guy. THE guy. Instant-connexion. BOOM ! Lead to (mind you in a public gallery in which I think there should have a couple of cameras right ?) a striptease and a messy sex scene.
Tristan : I didn't read enough of the book to discover what he was really made of but honestly for what I had already seen, I wasn't really interested.
The cliché part of the characters was my main concern in this book and it's really impossible to read a book when me and the main characters we don't get connect.
I was looking forward to this book as the blurb caught my attention however I feel let down by it. when you look at the page count I was expecting a novel, however what you get is a short install love story with an a additional story added at the end.
i'm not saying the writing was bad or I didn't like the characters, I just had higher hopes for the book. I feel this could have been a great story if it was a full length novel and not an instant love story.
The MC is a gargantuan prick. His behavior and thought processes within the first 10 or so pages were such that I couldn't come to believe there is a decent person in there. I couldn't imagine anything but a deeply toxic relationship happening. My mistake I was looking for a romance. I had to permanently shelve the book and move on.
I thought this started of really well and I was just settling into it not wanting to put it down. Then the next time i picked it up it jumped a year from now and then like that it had ended and it was only an 60% on my kindle. Such a shame as it had the potential to be such a great book. Even so, I want to read Troy's story now.
The main characters were not fully developed and had no depth. One is supposed to be a ruthless business man but yet he came off as flaky and shallow. It was a quick read
This is very short, which is fine for what it is (although I generally prefer a story with more substance) but given the length I found it a bit frustrating how much of the story is spent establishing how much of an asshole Griffin is. I mean he is rich and cocky, fine, but there were times in the book where I wasn't routing for him at all. I didn't feel he should have custody of his child and I definitely thought Tristan could do better. They do sort of make up for it and Griffin comes around (it is a HEA romance after all) but I would have rather had more information at the end with them actually getting alone or learning how to get along and less of griffin just being an unlikeable dick.
Wow. I admit that I'll read most trashy novels but seriously. There are no words for the lack of character development, for the grammatical errors...it's clench not clinch. There were so many flaws with the writing as well as the story arc that I simply had to say, "no thanks."
This was a quick cute read. And it needs editing, but it wasn't so bad that you couldn't follow or know the writers intentions. Overall, if the next book in the series was available right now... I'd definitely read it also.
