Rate this book
Time has become a loathsome enemy.
After the harrowing battle against Herja, Vala and Xavyn find themselves in a new battle against time. The war between lands quickly approaches should The Divide fall, but even that concern must wait while they engage in a more dire conflict with Verdandi. She must be stopped before finding the final piece needed to end the world. To stand any chance at defeating her, Vala and the others will have to add numbers to their charge, which includes negotiations with the incorrigible Volare king.
In the midst of it all, Vala has to face her true identity. Though acceptance doesn’t always come easily, especially when it comes from within. For Vala, it also means accepting what happens after.
If they stop Verdandi …
If they prevent the war …
If she reconnects with her pith …
Will she have to say goodbye forever?

“I will do anything …” And I knew he would, which made it all more beautiful and painful. There was no doubt in my mind, in my human and goddess soul. He would do everything for me, risk everything for me. He would burn the entire world to hold on.
***

I wish I could say I never forgot one single, beautiful word from SCATTERED PLUME (because they were beautiful), as that would have been a lie since I haven’t read it in just over 2 years. But Miller did a fantastic job picking up the series with HIDDEN EMBER, and it wasn’t hard to fall back into the feel of the story and the emotions that have been rolling through each book.

I was reminded once again how much I loved Vala and Xavyn and their strong, unyielding love for one another. They are a powerful duo and equally powerful characters. Add in all their friends and they become an extraordinary force to go up against Verdandi in what is sure to be an epic battle.

I greedily inhaled this amazing story with my heart in my stomach nearly the entire second half. And tears. Yes, tears and heartbreak will make an appearance. But with the conclusion of the series, it will all be absolutely worth it. Just as the ones before, this story was beautifully and wonderfully written to perfection and I wouldn’t change a thing. 5 Stars!

Audio Review:
Hidden Ember (Fallen Flame, Book 3) is the exciting finale to this fantasy romance. Inside the pages is suspense seeping through. Great characters who are different and a storyline that keeps you on your toes. A wonderful ending.

Amelia Hugh's narration performance made the audio shine through. It was purely perfection. Her inflection is sweet and a pleasure listening.

I’m so sad this is the end, and yet so happy to have read the end of Vala, Xavyn, and everyone else’s story!

I love found families, and this series had one that I just adored from the beginning. With Vala and Xavyn at the beginning, adding in Esenna in the second book, and so many through the third book. I love how different everyone is. They all were so different, and yet they all had one purpose in my mind, to save the world, and they worked together despite their differences or that they were different species.

The way this series ended is how I think it should have ended. Everyone was successful and deserved the win after everything everyone went through and for how long they went through it all. I also love that Vala never truly acted superior to anyone despite being the goddess Alesrah. She always put others first(especially at the end 😫), and that I think makes a great person who is willing to make sacrifices even if it hurts themselves.

This book also never left me feeling bored. It kept me on my toes wondering what on earth will happen next since nothing seem to go according to plan, like ever 😅😫 it was great! Love when a book gives me anxiety 😂

I really enjoyed this series. It would be great if there were more set in this world, especially since there’s so many characters in this series that I would love to learn more about. In the meantime, I definitely will be rereading these 😊

The conclusion of this series did not disappoint. I have to admit, this author did a ridiculously crazy job of keeping me in the dark. There is a ton of action that keeps this tale moving swiftly, but it’s the intrigue that really makes this tale. Everything points to a resolution that will have you weeping. I love reading takes that have me guessing until the very end, and I have to commend this authors ability to wrap things up so thoroughly with amazing attention to detail.

Such an awesome finish to this amazing series!

I hate that it has to end but I truly loved it. I will miss this world for sure. Vala, Xavyn, everyone- they were all great characters. Vala went through a lot of changes and growth , emotionally and physically in this one but I think you held on to her true self and her beliefs. And she had all the support and love she needed from Xavyn as well as the amazing supporting cast of characters, Haidee, Esenna and so many others. The ending was everything I wanted and more. It’s definitely on my list of favorite fantasy series.

I was provided an ARC via the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is the final installment of the Fallen Flame Trilogy. I fell in love with Fallen Flame a few years ago, and I really love this series. If you love fantasy and mythology this is a good one to check out.

The pace of this one is a bit slow as most of the book is setting up for the final battle and Vala has to deal with her potential loss of humanity she defeats Verdandi. It definitely picks up as the battle nears and the action scenes intensify. If you haven't read the previous books, you really do need to as this is not a standalone. Verdandi and Vala are goddesses made human, one is trying to save the world while the other is trying to destroy it. The team Vala and Xavyn have assembled are racing across the lands to gain allies to stop Verdandi from ending the world. Vala fears that she will become the goddess she was before when she reconnects with her final feather or pith and while she will save the world she will lose herself and those she has come to love. We get alot of good character development in this with not only Vala but the other characters as well. There are quite a few returning characters from books 1 and 2. I like when I get closure on character arcs, especially side characters I've come to love.

The author really pulls on our heartstrings in this installment, and she certainly doesn't pull any punches as she takes us on this final journey. There were quite a few "that didn't just happen moments" before it was all over. I think this is the perfect conclusion to this series!

An emotional ending to an intense series!

I don't want to spoil the finale; it's filled with emotion, turmoil, and doubt. There's a lot of story to tell and the action takes a back seat for a short time. I didn't mind at all. The story sets up the emotional closeness to the characters and is why I was a snotty mess towards the end.

I rarely (read: never) leave reviews, but I am so genuinely disappointed. Consider this a review for all three books. The first one was interesting. It laid the bones down for an incredible, interesting fantasy, and I was excited to follow on. But honestly, the more I read, the more rushed it felt. Nothing seems to have huge consequences. Everyone who dies is largely unimportant, but for the guilt that the main character feels. Another review on here said that nothing seemed to go right for Vala and her friends, but I couldn't see it. EVERYTHING went right for them. There's a forced marriage that's set up for two books as a Big Bad, only for it to be resolved in like a chapter. Everyone is on their side. There's almost no arguement. It feels like the author got bored of writing this story halfway through. Why is the final book of a series barely 300 pages? It's so disappointing because if there was even an iota more detail or opposition, I would have adored this book. I love the inherent angst of the god/mortal love story. There’s a brief part near the end where we think he actually dies, but even that is resolved with Xavyn's sudden immortality in the last like five pages of the book. They didn't even have to work for it. There wasn't half a sentence, maybe, of Vala contemplating the ticking clock on her relationships before its irrelevant.

They say it's not how you start, it's how you finish. And J.M. Miller can finish her stories well. First quarter of the book starts out a little slow, but if you've already read the previous two books, it doesn't take much to get into it. This time around I found it much more riveting, as I did not want to stop reading by the time I reached the halfway mark. I did not have to flip back & forth between books this time because I was already well-versed with the in-universe mythology & all the players involved. As with book 2, Hidden Ember kept me guessing (my book club & I very much enjoyed coming up with our own theories & predictions) & the ending left me quite satisfied, although I wish there had been an epilogue to wrap up some final thoughts. A solid conclusion to the Fallen Flame trilogy. Brava J.M.!

Wow.. what a finale!!

This made me tear up a little bit since it's the last book in the series. Man, this was such a journey!!!!

There were so many times that I was sitting at the edge of my seat listening to this book, anxiously waiting to see what would happen, or I was crying since it was so sad in places. Man, I really thought I was going to lose it right there towards the end, but thankfully all went well. It actually helped answer a few questions I had with Xavyn and how his and Vala's future would turn out.

I just can't give enough praise to the author and the narrator that just brought not only this book but the series to LIFE for me!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I recieved an ALC for my honest review.

This is the third book in the trilogy. It was an odd way to end the series and the “big war”. The writing was a little less stellar than the first book, and like the second book, introduced characters that had no development. This book was to contain the big battle between the goddesses and the fae/human world. What it had was boring “training” scenes for make-shift armies and fighting scenes that were not developed at all. And after not seeing the humans since book 1, all of a sudden we are thrown back to their world and nothing made sense. Everything was wrapped up with a crooked bow. The book itself was not a good one for me (I basically skimmed over most of it) and the series overall ended up being a 2.5.

Amazing Series Wrap Up!! More battles, critical moments, and twists to mysteries.. We love to watch as our favorite characters develop into what they're meant to be in time for the big climax. Dots being connected and the final wrap up was satisfactory. I will be recommending to any YA Fantasy lovers. Giving props to the narrator, Amelia Hugh, who made it feel as tho I was there witnessing this whole story for real.

wow! you can so easily imagine this world and the characters.

The descriptions are amazing! As your imagination shows you full color scenes, the characters relay a beautifully written fantasy. Listen to all three in the series. The professional, highly talented actor, Amy Hutchins has acted out this story perfectly!

This was a great ending to a great book. It took our book club a few tries before we connected the dots of the trilogy’s the entire plot and it was a fun adventure along the way! The narration continued to be fantastic and the author did well to continue developing the characters while concluding the story perfectly.

This was a very satisfying conclusion for the series. Like with all good things, I wished it would have continued, but the author did a great job bringing things in and leaving the reader satisfied at the end.

The ending to this series was perfect, I dislike when authors leave it open and leave you questioning about small things and everything for me was wrapped up nicely. This is a great underrated fantasy series that explores themes I haven’t seen before and yet has a sweet romance and funny banter. Great way to end reading this series! Vala and Xavyn for life :)
