The next captivating installment in New York Times bestselling author Molly McAdams’s Redemption series.

As the Princess of the Irish-American Mob, there’s no shortage of men ready to help guard and protect me. To slowly suffocate me to the point of seeking freedom—a place where I can breathe.

Kieran Hayes has been saving me for as long as I can remember. It’s in his blood, and one of the many reasons I fell in love with him. Until my favorite trait became his biggest flaw, making me resent the man I love. An unwavering warrior, his love for me has been shrouded by those instincts.

Save Lily. Protect Lily. Hide Lily. Cage Lily.

What I wasn’t prepared for was Dare—the man who would set my world on fire with just one touch. He saw straight through to my soul, as though he knew I was desperate for freedom, and silently demanded my heart from the beginning.

And I didn’t expect Dare to be Demitri Borello—the reason for so many deaths in my family. A man who will take my life the moment he finds out who I am.

Despite it all, I’ll love him until that moment comes.

A fire will die if there is no oxygen for it to consume. Ours is rapidly stealing every last breath we can sacrifice to it.

Molly grew up in California but now lives with her husband and daughter in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas. When she's not diving into the world of her characters, some of her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach . . . which roughly translates to being a homebody and dishing out movie quotes with her hubby. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies and loves curling up in a fluffy blanket during a thunderstorm . . . or under one in a bathtub if there are tornados. That way she can pretend they aren't really happening.

While I enjoyed this book, it didn't blow me away like I had expected. Don't get me wrong. It was good. It just lacked that something extra that takes a book from good to great.

'Firefly' is the second book in Molly McAdams 'Redemption' series. If, like me, you expected this book to be very similar to the first book in the series, you'll be disappointed. The storylines are very loosely connected, but the stories are very different. Being that I wasn't the biggest fan of the first book, but loved the captivity theme, I had hoped that this book would keep the same theme and improve upon the other aspects that I had found lacking. Instead, the theme changed and I felt like many of the other issues remained.

The story centers on Lily O'Sullivan, the Irish Mafia princess at the center of a mob war between the O'Sullivans and the Borellos. After an attack one night that left Lily's brother dead, the O'Sullivans decide to fake Lily's death. For years, she is essentially under house-arrest, lest the Borellos return to finish the job and kill Lily.

By her side, but emotionally distant, is her long-time boyfriend Kieran Hayes. Kieran is the man that Lily has always dreamed of spending her life with. The two had plans to run away with each other, leaving their dangerous life behind them.

However, since the death of Lily's brother, Kieran has changed. He is more distant than ever, shutting Lily out of his thoughts and keeping her at arm's length emotionally, even as he suffocates her by restricting her freedom. He is an assassin, feared for his superior skills, but now he handles Lily with the coolness with which he handles his job.

Lily's only taste of freedom is when she sneaks away from the compound. Each Monday, she sneaks off to meet up with a friend of hers at a local coffee shop. This has been her routine for almost as long as she's been hiding in plain sight. In those regular mornings, she looks forward to her brief glances and passed notes with a stranger.

As Lily's relationship with Kieran disintegrates further, she finds herself more and more attracted tot he mysterious stranger from the coffee shop. One night out, she runs into the stranger and sparks fly. A whirlwind, secret romance begins.

What Lily didn't know is that the stranger is none other than her biggest enemy. The guy, "Dare", that she'd been meeting was none other than Demitri Borello. For all of her efforts to remain hidden, she has walked right into the lion's den.

She isn't the only one in the dark though, Demitri has no idea that the woman he's been looking for has been right under his nose the whole time. When he first heard the rumors that Lily O'Sullivan was alive, he was determined to find her and kill her, avenging the life of the woman that was taken from him by Lily's father.

Eventually, the secrets come to light. As expected, the fallout is a disaster for everyone involved. Lives are lost. Hearts are broken. It was painful, but expected.

Although I did enjoy the story, I never felt a strong connection to the characters or the storyline. Everything was just too convenient and too implausible. I actually found myself more interested in the secondary characters than the main characters, which is telling. There wasn't any one particular thing that I can say didn't work for me. It just didn't hold my attention or have that special something that takes it to the next level. It was okay, but unremarkable.

What happens when you fall in love with the wrong man?

Being the princess of an Irish-American Mob family isn’t easy. Constantly with a target on her back, Lily has been kept under protection for most of her life. With the murder of brother, that protection has went up ten fold causing her family to go as far as faking her own death. Trapped in an unwanted life and loving someone who’s purpose is to keep you safe, has Lily feeling there’s more to this life than just hiding.

Getting a taste of freedom once a week to meet her best friend is not only an escape from her daily routine, but getting to see a glimpse of the man who secretly makes her want to have more, has Lily looking forward to Mondays. But little does she know that being around her secret admirer, is going to set off some deadly chain reactions.

“I’d give you world If you asked for it, but not at the expense of your life. Don’t aK me to stop saving you, because I don’t know how.”

Demitri Borello isn’t your average guy. Head of the Borello Family and someone you don’t want to mess with, Demitri has had one goal for the past four years and it doesn’t include falling for the woman who comes into his Café every Monday like clock work. But you know what they say: No matter how hard you try, you can’t help who you fall in love with and Dare is about to get a hard lesson in that.

“We were like fire, but fire never lasts. An when it’s over, devastation is left in its wake.”
Torn between two men and fighting for a normal future, Lily’s journey to happiness was not an easy road. There were a lot of bloodshed, broken hearts, and betrayals like you can’t even imagine. Dare and Lily’s connection was so electric, I was afraid they were going to start having everything go haywire. I loved how Dare took care of Lily in his own way but he also left everything up to her because he knew she was scared of being with him.

This story certainly had it’s ups and down and you’re going to be taken on one heck of a ride so be prepared! If you loved “Blackbird”, you’re going to be obsessed with “Firefly”.

I'm finally adding a review 😅

I think this is closer to 4 Stars than 5. But like I've said before, I'm a sucker for dramatic and epic endings. Admittedly, the first part of the book was slow...mainly because it was repetitive and had too much inner-monologuing. I can't remember if I had any issues with it the first time I read it, but my guess is I enjoyed it more. The second half was so much more exciting. This is when things start happening, to finally start moving forward. This is the story of Lily O’Sullivan and Demitri—Dare—Borello. Told from dual perspectives: Lily and Dare's. I'd love to describe the book, I really do, because it's so different and complexed, but I'm afraid I'm just going to end up botching it! So I'll focus on how much I enjoyed it.

Imagine meeting and falling in love with your greatest enemy? Someone who if he discovered your true identity would want you dead? And what if he wasn't just your enemy but also your soulmate? Gah! I was intrigued by the plot, it's what kept me going. Despite finding the first part slow-moving, I ended up loving it. That moment when Dare discovers that the woman who's brought light back into his darkness is the same woman he's hated for years...oh, my sweet angst. I might just read that chapter again tonight.

It's important to point out another crucial character in the story--Kieran or Nightshade. A trained cold-blooded killer. He is Lily's boyfriend and her father's underboss. They've known each other since they were children and she has loved him all her life. Again, I won't say more because I'm determined to keep this short (and failing miserably), but I will add that I wouldn't label this a love triangle, not in my opinion. It's a complicated situation that I won't try to explain here. DM me if you want details.

HEA: Absolutely! There's also an epilogue (6 months down the road) that was sweet and perfect.

ALL THE STARS!!!!!!

How can one author's words make you feel so deeply??? I don't think there is another author out there like Molly McAdams that is able to reach into the depths of my heart and make me feel the things I feel with every single one of her books.

Last year was the first time since 2012 that I read another of her books because she crushed with me Taking Chances and From Ashes. Don't get me wrong, those two books are 5+++ star books for me, but my heart ached the emotions those books put me through. And last year's Too The Stars didn't gut me as much as those two books, but I still felt her words deep inside.

"Love isn't something people like us have the luxury of. It's used against us. It's used to slowly destroy you over the years. I was ignorant enough to think I could have it, and it ruined me. I won't make that mistake again."

And now here I am, almost 18 months later reading Firefly. I wanted to read Firefly because the series it's in is a different genre that Molly has not written in before - romantic suspense and dark romance. While this book isn't dark like I am used to, Molly definitely delivered on the suspense and angst in this book and still had my heart being battered with emotions.

"We are like fire, but fire never lasts. And when it's over, devastation is left in its wake."

I had an inkling of what I was getting into after reading the blurb, but nothing prepared me for the onslaught of emotions that I would feel reading this book. And you would think I would prepare myself better knowing that it's Molly McAdams, but I don't think I will ever be prepared for her words and how much they would seep deep into me.

Lily, Princess of the Irish-American mob, is a prisoner in her own world. She's torn between loving and hating the one man she always thought she would marry; the one who promised they would run away from this life and start anew. But one deadly night changes everything and Lily's future is forever caged and changed. Til she meets Dare.

"You're a dream inside a living nightmare, and I'm a bastard for pulling you in."

Dare is Demitiri Borello, the Boss of the sworn enemy of her family. With Dare, Lily finally finds the freedom she's been seeking for years. Unfortunately, neither know who the other really is. And with all the drama going on between their families, their own deceit between them, their delicate and fragile love won't survive through it all.

From page one, I was immediately hooked on this story. Molly's brilliant writing, her enthralling characters and their strong attributes, bring you a story that will leave you breathless and encompassing your every thought. You won't be able to put the book down once you start reading. Dare and Lily had me at the edge of my seat the entire time and had my heart in their hands. And don't even get me started on Kieran/Nightshade - oh my poor heart. And the secondary characters have me pleading with Molly that they get their own stories down the line because they are so much an integral part of this story.

"I would let me heart be destroyed a thousand times if it meant a thousand more days with him."

Throughout this whole book I felt myself gasping and living in these characters shoes. I have no idea how Molly does it, but she makes me feel every single emotion - hope, hurt, anger, dread, fear, love - you name it, I felt it in this book. Molly writes like no other and proves once again she is able to step outside her comfort zone and write a unique story that keeps you coming back for more.

“Truth or dare,”
“Dare.”“Lie to me . . . ruin me. Just let yourself love me.”

Lawd have mercy! This book just ruined me in all possible ways. Firely is yet another book of Molly McAdams I will treasure for the rest of my life. I am not just captivated with the story, I am obsessed with it. Surely, Molly McAdams knows how to make her readers not just feel, she knows how to etched and engraved her words to her reader's heart and mind. She did mine. In fact, I still have a book hungover and I know for a fact, it will stay with me for days. Books like this is not easily forgotten, it will remain forever.

Firefly is the second book of Redemption Novel following the story of Dare and Lily. If I have love Blacked, this book gave me another feels, a different kind of feels and emotion but all the same, gave me and left me with the best feels through the authors brilliant writing style. I devoured it wholeheartedly and I inhaled it as if it's my last breath. I can't help not to. Dare and Lily, are not just easy to love. Their story.. their connection...it's addicting. I couldn't get it out of my system. Kudos to Molly for capturing my heart with her portrayals of these characters. The blurb may gave a strong foundation of this story, gave us snippets of Lily and Dare but it wasn't even halfway on what this book was all about. Man, these characters shared more than that. I could not help but just caressed my reader with their names on it.

That's how I was obsessed with this book. That's how I love these characters. I can feel the emotions that was seeping through the pages. Lily, beautiful and brave. I have an instant connection with this woman. I love how she stands her ground and I love her fierceness and her strong will to fight for love. Dare..OMG, this man made me not just swoon over him. I felt his pain, I felt everything he went through but Lord, he was instense as he was powerful. It could feel it and it showed with every turn of the pages.Their forbidden romance was killing me but I rooted for it.. for them until the very end. It wasn't full of angst but just right enough to keep me on the edge and made me flip through pages and pages seeking answers and maybe taking refuge because as I said..the feels. It gripped my heart and shattered it to pieces. Betrayals and lies here and there, it was heart breaking and heart warming all together but I live for it. It was just wonderfully crafted that in the end left me speechless and stunned.

"How do I feel? Firefly I'm fucking terrified."

"Of what?" I asked when the silence became too much.

"You."

*Sigh

Ahhhh.. It wrenceh my heart and I felt like I was punched in the gut. I was gasping for air to breathe.

Overall, I will recommend this book and if only I can give it more than 5 stars I will. Firefly is Romantic Suspense at it's finest. It breaks my heart yet Molly McAdams fixed and healed it in the most beautiful way. In the end, I feel like my heart's gonna burst with the heart warming feels this book left me. Firefly is sure you don't want to miss. I dare you to read this book blind. Ride a roller coaster journey of Dare and Lily's road to HEA with not just bumps and curveballs but twists and turns you'll never expect.

4.5 STARS!
"Anywhere I go, I'll be waiting for you to find me lighting up the dark."
Just WOW—I couldn't wait to get my hands on Firefly as I LOVED Blackbird so, so, SO MUCH and Molly knocked it out of the park with this one.
Firefly was just as dark and intense as Blackbird but the suspense, the fire, the brilliance of this story took it to a whole other level.
Poor Lily, the Princess of the Irish-American Mob trapped in a life that she doesn't want. Her heart loving yet hating the one man she has ever loved and wanted a life with—Kieran Hayes aka Nightshade. Lily and Kieran have always loved each other wanting a life outside of the mob but Kieran has had a hard time walking away because of circumstances of their past.
Truth or Dare...
Lily finds the unexpected in Demitri Borello—the sworn enemy of her family. But where she is caged in the O'Sullivan lifestyle, with Dare she finds that freedom and need that she has been searching for.
Too bad he doesn't know who she really is. Too bad there is so much bad happening around them that a fragile love like theirs may not survive.
With flawless writing, unique and captivating characters and a mindblowing story, Molly has proven again how she can step outside of the box and give readers different stories to read that will hook you from the very first page. I devoured this book—it consumed my every thought—and I want MORE of these characters. I fell in love with all of the secondary characters and hope for more stories so that they each get their HEA. I am addicted to the Redemption Series and I can't wait to see what Molly has in store for us next!

This book gives a whole new meaning to the game of “Truth or Dare”!

With the Irish Mafia at its roots, this was definitely a book that I was going to savour, especially with the key protagonists love story was formed in the midst of two warring mob families.

The heroine in this story is emotionally broken following the death of her brother during a burglary to which she had a front row seat. As a result, Lily O’Sullivan’s dreams of escaping her family's legacy with the one man that she has always loved, Kieran, are in tatters after she is forced into a prison-like existence for her own safety.

Lily’s only moments of freedom are at during the times that she escapes her enclosure to meet a friend at the local cafe but little does she know that the man she has seen in the cafe, and who she has silently been falling in love with, despite having not spoken verbally to him, is none other than the devil himself. Dare, as Lily knows him as, has loved and lost at the hands of Lily’s father and is determined to exact revenge: a fiancee for a fiancee. With neither knowing who the other really is, Lily and Dare start an unwittingly dangerous game.

From the moment Lily and Dare connect, this story grabs hold of you and doesn’t let you go. Lily’s pain and frustration is tangible as is her desperation to escape her father’s empire. Seeing Dare, and his family/friends, as the only people that she can turn to, Lily’s already complicated life becomes even more so as she escapes from one poisonous empire straight to another. From this point, Lily finds herself torn between two men: one that she has loved but now feels has let her down and the other who adds light and colour to her dark and lifeless existence.

This book had big footsteps to follow in after the success of Blackbird and there are too many possible spoilers to provide an in-depth review of this story but what I will say is that despite the slow and steady start, stay with the book and the story and prepare to be amazed by the complicated web of lies that are spun right until the end of the story. This book grew into a 5 star review for me and apart from the broken sentences/oral interruptions throughout the story, which really frustrated me, this was a solid and well-written book.

**Re-read review 10/27/19**

This is 100% STILL a 5 star read for me. I need a good 5 star cleanse after my last book and Dare and Lily are still freaking fantastic and make my hopeless romantic heart sing!
My favorite quote this round:

"There are tragedies all around us, Elle. Every minute, every hour, every day. Without love, there would be no reason to stand back up and fight. Without love, there would be no reason to live."

Definitely going on my all time favorites list!

**Original review 1/26/18**

I have so many things I want to say about this story but I'm going to be good and not spoil it all. I went into this from a recommendation by my girl Lydia when she mentioned it on a reading challenge Twitter post back in December. I was intrigued by the title alone because Firefly is one of my favorite TV shows so seeing a book with the title, regardless of the content, had me excited. Let me tell you, I was not prepared for how amazing this book is. It definitely surpassed the first one by miles! Here's the best description I can give you without going into spoiling detail...

Just like the previous book the story is seen in two point of views: Lily and Dare. Lily is one of the last surviving blood members of the O'Sullivan mob. Her twin brothers were killed by the rival mob gang and her mother went on a huge drinking binge because it was too much for her to handle. At the scene of one of the twin's murder, Lily happened to be there and unfortunately watched her brother die. Because the opportunity tragically presented itself, the O'Sullivans decided to fake her death along with the brother's, retaliated against the rival mob, and she's been in hiding ever since. Four years to be exact. Kieran, her young love, was promoted to Underboss because his father trained him to be an assassin and after the murder, he changed; became very distant. This affected Lily a lot because they were supposed to have a future together but with each passing day, she feels like she's drowning in a prison full of strangers.

Once a week she frees herself by going to a local cafe to speak with her best friend. This is where she meets Dare. They never spoke to each other for two years but he would constantly pass her notes because he was drawn to her, especially the sadness in her eyes -- eyes she disguises with color contacts. One night she goes out to follow one of the people that works for her dad and she runs into Dare. That night pretty much changes the course of their world. They have a serious attraction to each other and Lily ends up meeting his family at this outing. She's frightened at first because she was sheltered from the world so much but the more time she spends with Dare, the more dangerous her need becomes to sneak out and see him time after time. After one fateful night of fun and passion between the two, Lily learns that Dare is not a random, beautiful stranger. He's actually the Boss of the rival gang that killed her brothers. This devastates her because his main goal in life is to kill her but at this point he's made her feel things she didn't even know she could feel and decides to risk everything, including death, to be with him as long as she can.

So that was a bit long winded and you don't even know the half of it. I loved everything about this story. I loved the fact that Lily kept true to herself and was honest with everyone around her the entire book. She never wavered from that even when she kept trying to convince Dare that they couldn't be together and he told her to "lie to him" because she was the light that brightened the darkness if only for a few precious moments (hence the name firefly). I don't give 5 stars very lightly but I devoured this story; literally couldn't put it down even when I was supposed to. If you want a fantastic romantic, thrilling romance to read, you have to give this book a go. And don't worry about the order. They work well as standalones.

"Without love, there would be no reason to stand back up and fight. Without love, there would be no reason to live."

Here I sit hours after reading, still STUNNED SPEECHLESS from Firefly by Molly McAdams, a STUNNING STORY that stole, stripped, and shattered both my heart and soul. It's as if this story was my perfect match, my soulmate in words. Firefly felt like it was made for me: MY PERFECT STORM.

This story stole my breath, where I was left gasping for air. This story stole my soul, a soul that equally shattered and soared. This story stole my heart, helpless from the words that squeezed out every emotion, but a heart that bled for and beat for this book. Actually, this story didn't steal a thing. I SURRENDERED my body, breath, heart, soul, and every emotion to Firefly.

>>> TRUTH OR DARE ? <<<

TRUTH: Three lines. Just three lines of this story had me in tears.

Firefly gripped me immediately, chasing my heart and soul like a fierce fire where I fell to the flames. This firestorm of feels was a fight I would not...did not want to win. Firefly lit me up with life, one where every breath matched every breathtakingly beautiful word. Light to light. Dark to dark. Beauty to beauty. Feel to feel. I FELT FIREFLY EVERYWHERE.

>>> TRUTH OR DARE ? <<<

TRUTH: When I 'met' the hero and heroine, it was INSTA-LOVE. The characters made me fall in love with them immediately where I rooted for their forbidden romance to fold into love. I felt Lily and Dare's story where it became mine too.

She glowed so damn bright ... and when we were together, it was like setting a dry forest on fire in the dead of night.

Lily is as equally brave as she is beautiful. She is a light in a dark world, one where she doesn't belong. I loved her strength and admired her courage to risk it all for love.

This connection ... it felt as if my soul was screaming — begging — for me to recognize its mate was within reach.

Dare, this dark hero with a huge heart stole my heart! This alpha was my addiction. His pain was mine. Dare set me on fire! My body was on fire while my heart bled. Dare made me SMOLDER and SWOON!!!

"I was made to love you. I just found you in the wrong life."

I was GUTTED with words that both gripped my heart and tore it apart!!!

Together, Lily and Dare are mesmerizing...just magical! This is a couple fighting fate and all the odds. I loved watching them conquer their demons! Dare and Lily have a shared bond that neither can grasp nor get....one not of merely lovers but of destined soulmates.

"How do I feel? Firefly ... I'm fucking terrified."

"Of what?" I asked when the silence became too much.

"You."

These words stole my breath, bearing down on my heart where it beat and bled for this book.

>>> TRUTH OR DARE ? <<<

DARE: I dare you not to feel this story while reading.

"I would stay until it ends."

I knew how this would end. We were like fire, but fire never lasts. And when it's over, devastation is left in its wake.

Firefly is devastatingly beautiful, a book that bleeds heart and hope. I cried a mix of sorrow and swoon. My HEART BLED for this book while my SOUL SHATTERED and SOARED.

My emotions were entangled around every word.

Firefly is a movie that plays in your head while reading. Firefly is a Romeo and Juliette romance with a modern day twist. It's forbidden love. It's messy love. It's PERFECTLY IMPERFECT LOVE. It's so much love. Oh did I love thee so much!!!

A book that bared its soul to me, Firefly is a TOP 2017 READ!!! Romantic suspense fits Molly McAdams like a glove, so PERFECT! Firefly is FLAWLESS!!! Molly McAdams' words are poignant poetry that glide across the pages, so smooth and soulful. This incredibly talented writer writes from the heart and you can tell her heart is poured into every beautiful and brilliant word. Her heartfelt writing hits my heart hard like a hurricane EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. EVERY WORD MATTERS. Meaningful. Mesmerizing. Magnificent.

Firefly makes all senses come to life where you can't help but FEEL ALIVE while reading. Passionately poignant and heartbreakingly beautiful, Firefly lights every feel on fire while slaying the soul. Oh was my SOUL SLAYED by a story that OWNED EVERY OUNCE OF ME!!! My soul sparked to life like fireflies from the soul-searing story called FIREFLY by Molly McAdams. I'm sure many have enjoyed this and many will continue to enjoy it, but my bar is set too high. I need explanations and somewhat plausible situations, not perfection, but make a little sense and I'll give a lot of leeway for an author's poetic license. I mean as I was reading I kept thinking I was missing something but I think my confusion and inability to comprehend something while reading were just plot lines and twists explained away by what felt like afterthoughts. I kept asking myself, wait when did that happen or why is the character doing this?

So why this book?
I choose to read this because I love MMcA's YA/NA and Firefly has been on my TBR/own-it-but-haven't-read-it for years.

description

I've also made a deal with myself to reduce that combined list, starting with books I've owned for years, yes, years and I thought I'd start with this one. I expected organized crime, two rival families and some hot scenes. I got that but none of it made sense. I mean MMcA wrote it and it just was. Dare, the hero, stopped the gang's gunrunning when he took over the gang/family when his father died and he was fourteen. You go you little war lord you! Why was that even important to mention? I'm generally known to be clueless obtuse sharp, but honestly sometimes I had no idea what was happening and why, so I started skimming.
In a nut shell, there is a girl born into the Irish mafia who has been in love with a boy, now man, who is an assassin in same Irish mafia. Irish mafia princess falls for rival gang's leader (the little warlord is now all man) and there is much ado! 1.5 stars

P.S. if you want to play a fun drinking game while reading, sip your beverage of choice every time the author writes about any of the characters souls in action. Singing, floating or soaring are good starts. If you really want to get sh*t faced, just drink when the word soul is printed.

I loved Blackbird. The characters, the story, the feels were all amazing. So I could not wait to read Firefly, book two in Molly McAdams’ Redemption series. And I was not disappointed. It was just as captivating and emotional.

Lily O’Sullivan is the daughter of an Irish-American mobster and the princess of the family. As such she was trapped in a life she never asked for. After devastating events, her life becomes almost a prison with no escape. Loving one man, she hoped for more, but instead found herself desperate. She finds a freedom she never imagined in Demitri Borello, Dare, but he has no idea who she really is. And so begin the twists and turns that will leave you gasping until the very end.

One man loves her but is desperate to protect her at any cost, even himself. The other has no idea who she really is. And once she finally meets Dare, they have such a powerful connection, but with so many secrets, only devastation can follow. Their story was heartbreaking and full of angst. Who can you really trust? It is hard to say more without spoilers, but know this is an emotional and stunning story of star crossed lovers. Can they survive all the obstacles standing in their way?

I loved this story. It was an intense and wild ride. It was different in so many ways that it pulled me in and consumed me. The story was suspenseful and beautiful. The characters broken and lost, your heart breaks for every one of them.

Not going to lie, this was a very INTENSE book., so intense that I had to put it down for periods of time, but then all of a sudden the tide changed. I found that I couldn't put the book down at all.
Again I have to stand up and clap for Molly McAdams. She stepped out of the box again. The Redemption series is unlike anything she has written before.
Besides intense it was very dark. I cried a few times. But I was eating my heart out alot as well. You need to read this book to understand what I'm saying

Holy Firefly!!! What an amazing ride. Molly McAdams knows how to take your heart and emotions on a rollercoaster ride.

Firefly is the second book in her Redemption Series and it was just as jaw dropping and intriguing as the first book…Blackbird. This book was dark, gritty and raw just like the first book, but it was so much more. This whole series is a different side of Molly’s writing and story telling and it is FANTASTIC. You really need to experience these books.

As with the first book I won’t be able to discuss the storyline at all. This is a book you need to go into blind and experience all the emotions and tension for yourself. Firefly is told in Dual POV and is a complete standalone. You don’t have to read Blackbird before reading this book but once you have experienced this book you will want to read Blackbird also.

This book was extremely well written and will suck you in from the very beginning. Although I was a little confused in the beginning, but once the story started playing out, everything fell right into place….just like a puzzle ;) I love the amount of research and time Molly puts into her stories, it makes the story and characters feel so real to life. Sometimes it makes me forget I am reading a form of fiction. I truly get lost her books. I would give this book more than 5 Stars if it was possible. I truly believe this Redemption Series is turning out to be Molly’s best work yet.

I’m sorry this review is on the shorter side, but I don’t believe I can accurately express just how AMAZING this book really is. No words that I type can do this book justice. You’ll want to find out for yourself.

Again this is another one for my Best of 2017 List!! It’s a MUST READ!!!!

Wow.....make sure you have time to read this book all at once because you are not gonna want to put it down...and prepare to be put on a rollercoaster! To say you get wrapped up in the storyline and all the emotions would be an understatement.

Lily.....oh poor Lily.....In love for years with her mob assassin, protector, underboss to her father boyfriend Kieran. He will do anything to protect her....anything. Lily however has so many facets to her and her story will have you salivating for more. Its complicated and has many twists and turns. I dont want to reveal too much but lets just say she starts to fall for someone else. Kieran is turning into someone she doesnt know and its pushing her into someone else's arms. My heart hurt for them both because you can see they are being pulled into separate directions for different reasons....ones that will come to light....too late. Kieran thinks he is protecting her from the "enemy" another mob family but is making Lily feel like she is drowing.

Enter Dare....the mystery man passing Lily notes at the same eatery they go to....for 2 years!! He is the most beautiful man she has ever seen (besides Kieran) and she has the need to know more about him. Needless to say, Dare and Lily have an attraction and connection like no other and start to fall..and fall hard. Only there are so many other factors to their relationship. They only know each other on the surface because they are both hiding their true identities. What happens when the one person you feel you need to breath turns out to be the mortal enemy.

Lets just say that these star crossed lovers reminded me of Romeo and Juliet and I wasnt sure they would survive the truth once it comes out. This book had it all, angst, mystery, twists, love, heartbreak, rebirth, some steamy love scenes and bouts of laugh out loud moments. It was action packed and I found myself holding my breath more then once. You can feel Lily's heartbreak of being torn between two men, you can feel Kieran's despair of possibly losing the love of his life, the woman he would die for....and Dare...losing the piece of himself that has been missing and he just found.

I highly recommend you try this series and be prepared for this ride!

You know you always have that one author that no matter what you're reading, if their book comes out, you drop everything and read it? Everybody has one. Mine is Molly McAdams. And yes I stopped what I was reading because Firefly appeared on my Kindle and well, I HAD TO READ IT.

In case you don't know, Firefly is the second book in Molly's Redemption series. It's a departure from the usual Molly. But I promise it is absolutely fantastic. I loved the first book, but omg Firefly just blew me away.

Lily O'Sullivan is an Irish mob princess. She lives a lonely life trapped in the guest house on her family's land. Forever waiting for the love of her life, Kieran. Kieran who lived to protect Lily. Kieran who changed so much over four years Lily began to question their love.

The life she lives is not a life she embraces. Her father Mickey is a terrible man. He keeps Lily a prisoner and never shows her fatherly love. She is a pawn in her dad's sick game and her only hope is to run from the life style she's grown to hate.

She finds solace in her weekly trips to a shop in town. It's here where a gorgeous dark haired, dark eyed stranger catches her attention. For two years the two of them never speak. But this mysterious creature begins to consume Lily's everything thought. And let me tell you he consumed my thoughts as well. Dare. His name is Dare and I love him. That's me talking not Lily.

I want to tell you so much about this book, but I can't. I need you to one click Firefly asap. Molly's writing is absolutely perfect. They story has suspense. It has angst, sadness and of course love.

Once again Molly gives us a love triangle that will have us arguing whether Lily should give her love to Kieran or Dare. To me the love interests represent light and dark and I promise you'll wonder who is truly dark up until the very end.

I love how Molly puts the story together. You're never really sure where the loyalties of some major players lie. You never get comfortable for too long because Molly always has you wondering, what's going to happen next. The story is an intricate web that twists and turns. You wonder and you question, but you never really know for sure. I read this book in one sitting because, there was never a time I wanted to put Firefly down. I wanted to know everything and when I was done, I wanted more.

I feel like I made a connection between Blackbird and Firefly, but I can't be sure until the rest of the series comes out. Let me know if you see it after you read.

If Firefly is not on your TBR, put it there. If you one clicked it already, drop everything and read it now. Molly, even though you crushed my soul with Chase Grayson, you are my "author" and I adore you.

Five brightly shining stars for Firefly.

It’s been a while since I have read a book by Molly McAdams and I had forgotten how beautifully she can break your heart and soul only to repair them one again. Firefly is the second book in the series and can be read as a standalone. I didn’t want to put this one down. What if your enemy is the one you fall in love with, what if the one you used to love ends up pushing you away while trying to protect you and what if the person you vowed revenge again ends up owning your soul? You get all of these scenarios in Firefly as well as so very much more.

Lily aka Elle is the dead but living Irish mob Princess, but is she really living if she is being kept hidden by the one who swore to protect her? My heart broke for Lily throughout the book, it broke when she couldn’t deny her feelings any longer, it broke when she was torn, it broke when she realized who Dare was to her and her family and it broke once more when the truth and pain she kept hidden came out into the open.

Kieran was the one she had loved for all her life, it hurt when you read their interactions because you know that deep below the darkness in him that Lily is his life but his actions or lack thereof are what has pushed her away. I wanted to more about him, I wanted his POV I wanted to see some emotions beyond the ones he buried deep inside.

Dare had vowed revenge, but he didn’t know that his firefly would change his life the way she did, she was the light in his darkness, the good to his bad, the forbidden, and the one he couldn’t let go of. I was terrified more than once that when he learned who Elle really was that there would be heartbreak and there was, my heart felt like it was being shredded, now does it get to be repaired? Well that is something you will have to find out for yourself because revenge and pain can destroy the good things in life and it can end happiness in an instant but can it also mean letting it all go?

Firefly reminded me why I love this author even after she has ripped my heart out more than once and left me crying for days. I can easily recommend Firefly and when you start to read it make sure you have nothing else planned because once you start reading you won’t want to stop until the very end and even then you will continue to crave more. I hope we get books for the other characters we were introduced to in Firefly. I can’t wait to read more in this series as well as more from Ms. McAdams because Firefly renewed my love for this author once more.

Lily O’Sullivan is a mobster princess, trapped in a life she never wanted, and after devastating events, becomes a prisoner in her own home. Kieran Hayes, mob assassin aka Nightshade, is the man who spent his life loving her and would do anything to protect her, even give his own life to save hers. They planned a future together, and he promised to take her away from the nightmare they were forced to live in, but after waiting so many years for that to happen Lily lost faith in Kieran.
"Because he loved me, and my heart ached for the love we’d had, but he was a warrior through and through. And ever since that night Aric died, those instincts had slowly enveloped Kieran’s love for me, until they were all he knew. Save Lily. Protect Lily. Hide Lily. Cage Lily."

For the past two years Lily’s only form of freedom is on Mondays, when she’s able to disguise herself and sneak out to meet her girlfriend at a café. During this time Lily encounters Dare, a gorgeous mystery man who likes to leave her notes. These notes have become a sort of life line for Lily, and a secret yearning develops. She reasons with herself that she’s not doing anything wrong because they have never even spoken to each other during those two years. They don’t even know each other’s name, until one night changes everything, and the deadliest of chain reactions are set in motion. “We were like fire, but fire never lasts. And when it’s over, devastation is left in its wake.”

This story and the characters completely consumed me. I could literally feel Lily’s heartbreak of being torn between 2 men, and Kieran’s despair of possibly losing the love of his life, the woman he would lay down his life for, and Dare’s intense longing to keep the woman who lights up his darkness, his firefly. "She glowed so damn bright ... and when we were together, it was like setting a dry forest on fire in the dead of night."

I have to say, this is the first time I ever loved both men. Although they were complete opposites in many ways, they both loved her fiercely, and I knew my heart was going to break no matter what. So even though I was reading a ticking time bomb, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I absolutely knew it was going to explode, but I had no idea how bad the fall out would be.

"I would let my heart be destroyed a thousand times if it meant a thousand more days with him."

Truth or Dare?

Truth - I love all of Molly's books. She has a way with words that sucks you in. Her characters can seem so real that you feel their emotions with them. In Firefly my heart broke for characters when I didn't think it was possible and I felt claustrophobic with Lily. I love that she is willing to step out of the ordinary with her books.

Dare - Pick up this book as soon as you can. With characters like Kieran, Demitri, Lily and the rest of the gang it will be nearly impossible to do any adulting until you finish. I read it again immediately after finishing!

Move over Romeo and Juliet, I think I have a new favorite tragic love story. I know it's Shakespeare and one of the oldest and treasured love stories ever, but seriously Firefly was one of the best books I have ever read. I do love a good mafia romance, and that is one of the many reasons that attracted me to the book. Once I started reading about Lily, I just couldn't stop. I love Mollie's other books, but she really went well beyond any expectations I had. This book was flawless, and I know I will be reading it again and again.

As mentioned above the story revolves around Lily. A young woman who has been forced to hide in her own home, presumed dead the mafia princess, and the only survivor of all her siblings. She is protected by her boyfriend who was once her savior, and because of his position as her father's employee is now her watch dog. Wait it gets better, one hundred times better. She manages to escape every week to a coffee shop where she can breathe a little. There she always sees a man who she feels connected to even though they never speak. I know right, and this is where my heart rate picked up during this book. So let's not give too much away here, but he's not exactly someone she should be entertaining any type of feelings for. In fact, if anyone found out she was alive she would be in tremendous danger. So things begin to become very complicated for her, and a sequence of events brings her closer to the stranger who is never far from her thoughts. Let me tell you things heat up fairly quickly for her in many ways some bad, and some that will have you looking to cool yourself off.

Be prepared to fall hard and fast for Lili, and Dare. Yes, right! Even that name will have you short of breath. The dynamics in this book will have you addicted. It's a mafia romance unlike any, I've ever had the pleasure of reading, but the love story prevails at the forefront, and the motivation behind that is what had me enthralled. It was a story about a lonely, depraved woman with nothing to lose, yet also nothing to gain. She was trapped in her life with no way out. I had all the feels while reading, and long after.

This author did an amazing job crafting this story. She opened up a whole new world for me, and I couldn't be happier. Read this book, fall in love, and never look back. I'm sure glad I did.

Truth or Dare

Truth: you won't be able to put his book down! Firefly and Blackbird (redemption series) are beyond what Molly has written before.
I thought Blackbird had topped all of Molly's books for me then here comes Firefly. It's got a Romeo and Juliet vibe but it's so much more intense.

Dare: I dare you to read this book.
