Hot, tattooed men what more could you want? A great storyline with romance and deception well that's what you will get when you read Temporary by Kim Carmichael. This is book two in this series revolving around a tattoo shop run by a hot family!! Emily and Ivan have been in an on and off relationship for over a year but when they are pushed into working more closely together they have to decide whether to be 'Temporary' or 'Permanent'? I enjoyed this book and it didn't matter that I hadn't read the first book.

I received this ARC for a fair and honest review.

Emily Elliott has had a crush on her brother’s best friend, Ivan Harlow, for as long as she can remember. For the past year, they’ve been secretly hooking up and suddenly Emily decides she wants more for her life. She wants more for herself than just doing makeup for friends and family and knows Ivan only sees her as his best friend’s baby sister but isn’t above having sex with her to relieve an itch – as long as no one knows. Emily finally drums up the courage and breaks it off with Ivan… only to have both of them summoned to her brother’s house.

Shane, Emily’s older brother and Ivan’s best friend and his wife, Lindsay, are having a baby. Lindsay has just been ordered on bed rest with 10 weeks to go in her pregnancy. So Shane asks Ivan to take over with the day-to-day running of his tattoo shop, Permanent, during the final weeks and subsequent maternity leave. Shane’s and Emily’s brother, Carson, will be the runner for the parents-to-be, fetching anything and everything that they need to make Lindsay comfortable. Emily is tasked to assist Ivan and help Lindsay with the business accounting. How is Emily supposed to move on from Ivan if she forced to work alongside of him for the next few months?

Emily tries to ignore Ivan and move on, but it isn’t easy with seeing him every day. Ivan knows that Emily means a lot to him – but he isn’t used to the happily-ever-after. When he was younger, his Mom was killed in a car accident and he was devastated. How can you put faith into “forever” when you’re never guaranteed that it will work out the way you planned? Ivan just wants Emily to accept their relationship as it’s been – weren’t both of them satisfied and happy?

Suddenly, Permanent is in trouble. A client has developed a staph infection and has filed a negligence lawsuit against them. This is exactly the kind of trouble that would ruin the calming atmosphere that Shane and Lindsay need during her bed rest. Emily and Ivan need to handle it without anyone knowing. In trying to solve the problem, Emily reaches out to the only sibling that could help… their older brother Dillon. No one has had any contact with Dillon since he disappeared after taking their money – without a word or a reason. Dillon agrees to help, on one condition. He wants his sister back. Emily is hesitant, but agrees and Dillon hires a lawyer, James Westland, in hopes of ending their troubles.

In the midst of all of this chaos, Emily is offered a chance at her dream job as a make-up artist for the fashion designer Mark Markson. She scores an interview and he loves her! He wants her to do the model’s make-up for his runway show in a couple weeks. This is finally the break Emily has been waiting for, but it’s hard to be happy when the shop is being sued, the love of your life doesn’t want you and you’re not sure if this exciting opportunity is what you really want.

Will they figure out how to save the shop? Will Ivan finally realize that his long sought after happiness has been in front of him the entire time? Will Emily be swept away by the glamour of the high fashion life and notoriety? Will Shane find out about the troubles, both in the shop and of Emily’s and Ivan’s past relationship? Will Dillon make amends with his family so that the entire Elliott clan is together again?

I loved the interaction between the characters and the realism the author brought to their personalities. You felt the disappointment Emily experiences knowing that Ivan only sees her as the “baby” sister of his best friend and pray for that HEA. The jealousy that Ivan feels when James pays a little too much attention to Emily is palpable. I’m excited for another glimpse of this family and what’s to come.

Reading Book 1, "Permanent," sealed my love for Kim Carmichael. Her books are sexy, steamy and hilarious. When I got an email asking me if I was interested in the ARC of "Temporary," I seriously did a little jig and might have screamed (I refuse to admit this).

I needed Ivan to get his own story. The humor he delivered in "Permanent" made him the perfect candidate for a boy that needs a little shakeup in his life and his sexy goodness meant whatever girl that caught his eye was in for one heck of a ride.

Like "Permanent," one of my favorite things about Ivan and Kim's story telling is that "Temporary" includes our motorcycle riding, tattooed, long haired bad boy but he's so genuine, caring and a best friend to all. Sometimes you don't want to read that all men are crappy. Granted, they do make stupid mistakes and "Temporary" chronicles Ivan's biggest one of all.

When our favorite couple from "Permanent," Shane and Lindsay run into a snag, they ask their closest friends and family to step in and take over running the family tattoo studio.

Ivan and Shane have been best friends for awhile. Ivan, though not an actual brother, is considered part of the family. What Shane doesn't know is that for a little over a year, Ivan and Emily, Shane's little sister, have been carrying on an affair with no real commitment. Just as Emily realizes she needs more, Lindsay and Shane thrust the most important thing to all of them in the hands of Ivan and Emily.

Forced to work together, the fireworks are out of control. Ivan doesn't see a need for change but Emily has been in love with Ivan since she was young and just can't wait around anymore. The internal conflict between her heart and her head is one we can all relate to.

I truly love the dynamics of this family. They are so ridiculously close but they allow each other to live. Emily is really faced with some life altering decisions and needs this opportunity to grow up and figure out who and what she wants to be. Ivan is forced to face some fairly ugly truths of his choices and then is stuck in the "Is it too little too late" scenario. "Temporary" follows the story of Emily and Ivan as they decide whether to open up and trust or continue to be controlled in every scenario.

Here is what Kim Carmichael does to me....She makes me feel EVERY SINGLE FEEL. I want to be a part of this family. I want my next tattoo to be done by Ivan at Shane's shop. I need these people to be real!

This is the third book of Kim's that I have read and I immediately texted her to see what was next. Read Kim's Indelibly Marked series and you will not be disappointed! Romance, deception, the perfect fictional story wrapped up in a biker sexy goodness!

Favorite Quotes:

"For the first time she called it sex. With no time or desire to analyze her words, he shook off an unidentifiable hollow sensation forming in his middle."

"You never settle for anything less than a man who will fight for you. The man who gives you that feeling from your scalp to your toes. The one who will always be by your side and it may be the new man or an old man, but it doesn't matter."

Temporary is book #2 in the Indelibly Marked Series, I absolutely loved Permanent which is book #1 and I have been waiting for this book to release and guess what I’ve managed to get my hands on an ARC in exchange for an honest review so here goes...

Ok so the good bits...

• Ivan I Love, Love, Love him!!!

• Emily she is absolutely adorable.

• The rest of the Elliot Clan it’s such a fab group of characters.

And the not so good bits...

• I have no idea when we are going to get Carson’s story!!

I vividly remember reading Permanent and thinking that this author is proper sarcastic and thats brilliant!!! I’ve been really looking forward to Temporary being release and I have to say I loved it just as much as book #1 in the series.

Both Ivan & Emily are minor characters in book #1 but I still thought they were really warm and engaging personalities.

Temporary is a brilliant example of why series that have large groups of characters work. The reader gets a chance to get to know the new main characters whilst still getting glimpses of their favourites from the previous book.

I liked Ivan & Emily in Permanent but I love them in temporary we really get an insight into both them as characters and individuals but also as them as an almost couple.

I LOVE Ivan he’s all tatted up and should be a bad boy but he’s actually the complete opposite. I don’t think I would be going too far to call him a big ole marshmallow lol.

I know that in the 21st century women are independent and fully capable of surviving without men but I love how caring and protective all of the men in this series are. In my eyes there is nothing sexier than a man who takes good care of his woman.

Ivan really fulfils that role, he’s sexy and possessive but not a control freak and when I picture him in my head he’s bit of a tatted up demi god lol.

Emily is quirky and a bit edgy but I love how warm and loving she is. She’s the girl you would love as your sister or your best friend and I just wanted to give her a big hug.

This series has an amazing family feel to it and I love how the family and friends relationships intermingle and evolve.

Kim Carmichael has a wicked sense of humour and this book had me grinning like a Cheshire cat, I love how she’s witty and sarcastic and her characters all have their own distinct style of banter and humour.

Overall I loved this book; it’s funny, heart-warming and generally just fab 4.5 stars!!

Temporary is book 2 of the Indelibly marked series, but can be read as a standalone.

Guy code rule number one, you don’t mess with your best friends little sister. Ivan Harlow seems to have forgotten that, but with Emily Elliott following him around practically her entire life, something was bound to happen sooner or later. At least, if she had anything to say about. Which she did. The handsome tattoo artist is set up to watch the shop while his best friend and shop owner, Shane Elliot takes maternity leave with his wife, Lindsay. It’s up to him and the rest of the Elliot family to step up and pick up the slack left in Shane’s absence. Shane places Emily and Ivan in charge of Permanent, which would be wonderful, except, after a year of being friends with benefits, Emily wants more, and when Ivan can’t deliver she ends their arrangement. Torn between keeping things the same and taking the risk to go after more Ivan takes one step forward and two steps back over and over again as he and Emily go back and forth. Their dance is entertaining, and the layers peeled back to show why Ivan feels the way he does are heartbreaking. I wanted to see him happy, but I knew, only he could fix himself. It was just a matter of needing the right motivation. I can’t say more without ruining the story, but suffice to say, it's one wild ride.

Emily is a woman in-between. With her passion for make-up and her loyalty to her family and their successful tattoo shop, she’s torn between the familiar and the long dreamed about. With the marriage of her brother Shane to her new sister-in-law, and their impending baby, she finds herself examining her life and finding it lacking. She’s ready for a change, and if Ivan isn't a part of her growth, she refuses to wait for him. Ivan was her first crush. The man she imagined marrying from the time she was old enough to understand what that meant. She thought being in his bed would be enough. But all good things come to an end eventually. When a situation arises that puts Permanent into danger, she and Ivan are forced to work together to come out on top. During the crisis, they discover a lot more about themselves and each other.

This is sweet and sensually charged story that deals with coming to terms with a tragedy, discovering who you are, and facing your fears head on. It’ll keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen next, and totally wrapped up in Emily, Ivan, and the entire Elliot family.

Goodreads Review Link:

This was yet again another marvelous story of two people coming together. Ivan and Emily’s story isn’t without its trials and tribulations. Love isn’t meant to be easy, and for these two characters, you have to work for what you want. But, it’s doubly complicated when the object of your affection is the sister of your best friend/boss. Ivan and Emily are tested when an unforeseen lawsuit threatens to close the shop and send Lindsay into pre-term labor. Ivan and Emily must put their differences aside to make things work and to keep the shop up and running.

Ivan Harlow has worked for Shane Elliot for a long time. He’s become the second in command for Shane’s tattoo shop. But, with Shane on baby watch with his wife, Ivan has to set up and take care of the business. What complicates things even more is Shane has appointed his baby sister Emily to oversee the financial books alongside Ivan. You’d think that he’d be okay with the woman he’ s been secretly sleeping with being his business partner for the time being. But, he’s not. Emily wants more and he’s not ready to give her what she wants,

Emily is a budding makeup artist. She helps out at her brother’s shop as much as she’s needed. Yet, when Shane asks her to assist the man she just dumped, Ivan, while his wife is on pregnancy bed rest, she doesn’t know if she can handle working with him. She’s always had a thing for Ivan, and sleeping with him just doesn’t cut her want for him anymore.

If you are looking for non-thuggish tattooed hotties then this book series may just be right up your alley. If you haven’t read the first book, Permanent, then I highly suggest that you do so you can fully feel the continuing storyline of Temporary. The love story is sweetly tied into family troubles. There are quite a few times I found myself laughing as the other tattoo artists of the shop tease Ivan that Shane’s going to kill him for a multitude of things he does when it comes to Emily. This story is not only about love, but facing trials and tribulation amidst family and relationship issues. I am completely and utterly wrapped up into the work of the Elliot family. I cannot wait for the book #3, Apprentice, to come out!!

Emily is the younger Eliott sibbling and always considered the baby of the family and group of friend but when Shane, owner of Permanent tattoo parlor is forced to take a break, she and Ivan have to step in and rule the shop and deal with everything that happens in and out of the shop and not let one or the other change how they act around each other. But when things change and one want more it's not always as easy as it seems. People want different things at different given time. Sometimes you have to lose someone to realise how much they meant to you but will it be possible to win them back?

This book was a-freakin-mazing!

The story picks up a couple of months after the ending of Permanent and you do have to read Permanent to get what happens in this book.

I aboslutely LOVED it, it was fun and touching and entertaining and sweet. It had me in tears, laughing and smiling so much that I probably looked like a fool to anyone who had no idea what I was doing.

This story is about two people coming together to save something important to the both of them and they have to go past what they went through and not let it ruin or interfer with what they have to do. I can't really get into details because I don't want to ruin the story for anyone but sometimes you have to put your feelings for someone on the side to be able to deal with some rough moments.

The story was an emotional rollercoaster. You never knew or expected in which direction Kim would take you and I really liked that. I was not expecting what happen at all. From the first chapter she got me hooked and I cannot believe she kept this pairing a secret in book one. Hats off to her for keeping it a secret when it would have been easy to hint at it. Emily and Ivan go through so much in this book, you can really feel their pain and struggle with what they have to deal with. From the past coming back to catch them to business issues they are going through it all. And on top of it, having a secret relationship when one of them wants more and the other is scared of commitment. This book shows you a crazy array of emotions.

I really do hope we get a couple more books for the other brothers and Billy. I really want to read his story and know why he is the way he is. I'm totally hooked on this series!

In life you have things that are temporary and things that are permanent. There are those things that are fun while they last and then there are things that make you want so much more. For Emily and Ivan their relationship is only temporary, at least that is what Emily tries to tell herself when she attempts to break up with Ivan. Not one to take no for an answer, Ivan uses his wit and his charm to try and win Emily back. Emily keeps telling herself that what they had was temporary and she needed to make changes in her life.

Ivan came across to me as a gentle giant. Lindsey described his as a Viking in Permanent and I have to say I picture Chris Hemsworth, with lots of tattoos as Ivan. There is just something about his character that makes you want to jump through the pages and do whatever it is he asks you to. His love for Emily is evident to the reader, even though he doesn’t seem to realize it himself. He proves to be a loyal friend and lover, who will stop at nothing to protect the ones he loves.

While Shane is on bed rest with Lindsey, Ivan and Emily are left in charge of both businesses. Within a few hours of being in charge, Ivan has to deal with things he never saw Shane deal with, one of which being a lawsuit. Not wanting to worry Shane and Lindsey about the impending doom that the tattoo shop could be facing, Ivan and Emily work together to make everything okay. During this time Emily and Ivan become closer and boy are these two hot together. This book, for me, was a lot sexier than Permanent and I was super jealous of Emily. With having to deal with their new relationship and the reputation of the shop Ivan and Emily’s “love” is tested in more ways than one.

The whole Indelibly Marked Series seems to be about change, whether it be for better or worse. All of the characters in the books want to change something about themselves; their past, their appearances and their career paths. In the end all the characters learn their true place and that no changes were necessary. The ones they are with love them no matter what. I feel that is an important message throughout the whole book, no matter what you want to change about yourself, that might be the one thing that someone loves about you. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves steamy sex,a hot guy with tattoos and a strong female character.

Kim Carmichael has done it again. She has written another book in the Indelibly Marked series, yet it is entirely on its own. The characters are the same as the first book in the series, but the book centers around a new set this time - Emily and Ivan. Lindsay and Shane have married and Lindsay is now pregnant. Like many others, she has high blood pressure during her pregnancy and in order to keep her from going into early labor, everyone must do what they can to keep her calm. This means that Lindsay, Shane, and Carson are all taking off from Permanent and leaving it in the capable hands of Ivan and Emily. All is going well until a lawsuit lands in their laps. So as not to upset the pregnancy, Ivan and Emily take it upon themselves to handle the situation all on their own.

Meanwhile, Ivan and Emily have been having a relationship of their own. Will their relationship be able to handle the stresses of the lawsuit and of working even closer together? Can Emily pursue her own dreams of being a makeup artist, or will her career be put on hold? How does Dillon play into all of this, or does he just run away and leave the family in the lurch....again? All of these questions are expertly handled throughout the book. Carmichael does an excellent job of blending all of these lives and making the story not only realistic but believable. You could totally see this book being made into a movie or even a mini-series. Another book you can't put down! If I didn't already have a few tattoos I'd be running out to get one myself....although I am considering what my next one should be! ;) This series helps to remove the stigma of negativity from tattoos and stresses the artistic aspect of them. I am happy to say there is another book in the series coming out and there is a sneak peak of the first chapter for that one at the end of this book. I just can't wait until that one comes out! Great work Kim Carmichael! Keep it up! I look forward to more of your work!

Another fabulous story from Kim Carmichael. Love the Indelibly Marked series! ❤❤

⭐️Do not read Temporary if you have NOT read Permanent⭐️

The thing I love about Kim Carmichael's writing is that her stories are down to earth. The characters feel like real people and the stories aren't far fetched but they are sexy and loaded full sexy-as-hell tatted up alphas. Yuuuu-Ummmm

Temporary is a great follow up to Permanent . Again, the writing has fabulous flow and it kept me turning the pages, wanting more from these loveable characters. I adore the Elliott family. Temporary, is baby sister Emily's story. What do you do when you fall in love with the one man you know you shouldn't? Do you respect your family or do you follow your heart. Emily is a fun, free spirit who goes out of her way to look out for those she loves. Shane Elliott was my man but Ivan Harlow has definitely given him a run for book boyfriend. I dare you not to fall for this big softy.

Temporary is more than just a sexy romance. It's a story of a young woman trying to find her place in life. With loveable characters that made me wish I was a part of this family, and a story that will had me wanting to know what would happen next.... This mildly angsty, sexy and steamy read with some laugh-out-loud moments had me hooked. Don't miss out on the second chapter in the Indelibly Marked series. Can't wait to see which brother's story we get next!!!❤️

Fear of permanency... is that a common disease? I wander why men in particular have a fear of permanency or should we also call it commitment?

Our two main characters in this book are thrown together to run and save the tattoo parlor the Elliotts have worked so hard to make a success. Permanent is the name of the parlor - what a great name, right? Ivan is an artist. He can freehand sketch the tattoo on your skin and by the time he is done with the ink, the resemblance to a high end watercolor is impressive. All this on skin!

Working on permanent works of art on skin... you would think Ivan would be more receptive to permanency in life. His past includes a very sad story and it all boils down to nothing is guaranteed in life, so he fears anything permanent.

Emily Elliott is in love with Ivan... and has been for a long time. The fact that they have been fooling around in secret for a year just helps to make her want "more".

Although on the surface this sounds like any ole romance story, there is a depth to this story that will grip your heart. I love stories where the characters grow and change and adapt as life presents them with obstacles. This is a well-written story full of fun, emotion, and life lessons. Enjoy!

** I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads. **

I loved Ivan and Emily's story. I am so glad I stuck with this series. I can't wait to read Apprentice. I felt I could connect with these characters, I got lost in the story. The suspense of the love story underneath was written very well.

Ivan Harlow has been involved with the Elliott family for years. He is Shane's best friend and is Shane's second at Permanent. He's been sleeping with Emily Elliott for a year. She wants more, he's content with how things are. No ones about what is going on with the two of them.

When Shane needs to back away from the shop and Lindsay away from her accounting business while she is on best rest until the baby is due, of course they are going to put Ivan and Emily in charge.

When a major event happens it threatens Permanent's reputation. Can Ivan and Emily save Permanent, keep it from Shane and listen to their hearts?

Add this one to your TBR, it's worth it!!

Temporary is book two in the Indelibly Marked series. You don't need to read Permanent (Indelibly Marked #1) first. I suggest you read book one first. Book one is Shane Elliott and Lindsay Stevens' story. Temporary is Emily Elliott and Ivan Harlow's story. Shane and Lindsay do have a part in Temporary.

Emily and Ivan have a temporary relationship with no long term commitment. Emily wants something a little more. Lindsay is pregnant and is put on bed rest and Shane stays with her at home. That leave Ivan and Emily to hold down the fort at the tattoo shop. All is not ok at the tattoo shop. They are served with a lawsuit. Ivan and Emily decide to keep it form Shane. Emily turns to Dillon for help. I loved that we get more Dillon in this story. I'm waiting for Dillon to get his own book.

Ivan and Emily have a rocky relationship that has the potential to turn into something more then temporary. I really enjoyed reading Emily and Ivan's story. There were points where I just wanted to yell at Ivan for not telling Emily how he felt but I don't think he had come to turns with it himself. I loved the ending and it doesn't have a cliffhanger. I can't wait to see what Elliot family member get a book next.

I received this for an honest review and I have to say that I absolutely fell in love with this book!!! This the first book I have read by Kim and it definitely will not be my last!!!
This is Book 2 but I read it as a standalone and I did not feel as though I was missing anything. This is Ivan and Emily's story. Ivan and Emily are asked by Shane (Emily's brother) to take care of their tattoo shop while Shane is home with his pregnant wife. Emily and Ivan have been together for the last year behind Shane's back and Emily has reached a point when she wants more and is thrust into a working relationship with the man she has loved most of her life. Ivan doesn't want to jeopardize his lifelong friendship with Shane or Emily.

Once I picked up this book I could barely put it down. This is one of those books that absolutely pulls you in and keeps you interested in it. This book was the perfect mix of love and drama and the best friends sister!!

This is one you do not want to miss!!

This is one book that I can read over and over! My heart is totally involved in this series! Emily and Ivan go through such struggles to protect the shop. Its a fight. They fight each other, they fight for the shop, they fight their hearts and they fight to win. Love will overcome all objections and it's such a great journey for these characters. I recommend this book, this series and this author. She writes from the heart, gives very clear descriptions, and the stories have substance. A family is something that is important to me. Kim Carmichael portrays this family to be close and loving even if not the typical suburban family. The guys are hot tattooed men and the women are the perfect combinations to fit them. Great job. Can't wait for more!! I was one of the lucky ones who were able to read this before release day!!

I so loved this book, and book one in the series.
The author makes you feel like you are right there with the characters! Now I am feeling at a lost since finishing this book, I can't wait to get a hold of book 3.
Lindsay and Shane are about to have their baby, so Ivan and Emily are running the show/shop.
So many things are happening, but Emily and Ivan don't want Shane or Lindsay to know any of it so they don't stress out.
But things aren't just happening at the shop, things are happening between Ivan and Emily. And he doesn't know how to handle it. I love Ivan this time around.
So glad we got more of Dillion, and a tiny bit of the back-story there. But Carson, he cracked me up in the few scenes he was in.
Have I said how much I love this book? You have to read it, you don't have to read Permanent but you should.

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."

This is book 2 in the series, after Permanent. You could read this without book 1, but it would be a mistake. There Shane and Lindsay found each other in an unexpected way.

This story concentrates on two of the 'family' who have known each other since childhood - Emily's childhood that is. The background plot is clever and realistic. The story brings together characters new and old, who reveal more details about their needs and wants. It is hot, and touching and romantic - in a tattoo artist kind of way. I read it straight through in one sitting, as I was totally invested in the outcome.

Description: Indelibly Marked Book 2- revolves around the lives & loves of the Elliott Family and Permanent Tattoo.
Can be read as standalone - with supporting characters crossover
Ivan Harlow - Artist at the world famous Permanent Tatoo.
Emily Elliot - Makeup Artist

After reading Permanent I couldn't wait to get my hands on Temporary. Just as delicious as Permanent. I now have a book hangover & need a drink & book 3 now. A superb blend of characters that are pragmatic & well seasoned. The banter between the characters is so sexy & sultry. A fabulous writing with a alluring plot. I volunteerly reviewed an advanced reading copy of this novel.

I really liked the heroine Emily because she was a strong independent woman who wouldn't take shit from anyone. Lately there have been a lot of books about weak whiny women, so I found this refreshing. I was glad that she broke up with Ivan until he could admit how he felt about her. The fact it was set in a tattoo shop was just the icing on the cake as far as I was concerned. I would recommend this book to my friends

I waited too long to read this one!!

I loved this book! I enjoyed the realistic interplay between the characters. The push and pull of the angst helped develop the great chemistry between "Em-Lee" and Ivan. I would have enjoyed a touch more of Ivan's backstory. But I think that will be coming in the series.

I picked up this book on a whim and I'm glad I did because I enjoyed the read. This is an easy read with likable MC's and a great secondary cast. It's a standalone story and I didn't need to read the previous book to enjoy this one.

I absolutely LOVED this book.
Loved the emotional roller coaster. It shows sometimes you have to put aside a difference of opinion to help a friend.
Very well written, and I can't wait to read more about these characters.
