Some heroes are fated to save the world. Others are meant to destroy it…
Olive Kennedy is all about positive thinking. She's been stuck on Earth for the past four months, waiting for the spring equinox to arrive so she can return to Fairy World—but she's staying positive. She's hopeful she'll once again see her handsome Viking fiancé who's waiting for her. She's optimistic that her mission to reclaim the sword of Dracon—a sword of King Arthur fame and the only weapon capable of killing Theht—won't result in death and destruction. And then there's the small matter of an asteroid that's been ripped out of its orbit and is hurtling toward Earth…no biggie.
One last thing—she's fated to destroy the world. To stop that prophecy from being fulfilled, she may have to sacrifice the one person she loves the most.

Okay, so I can't do a normal review on this, because of reasons. That being said, I'm going to do my best. (However, I still require a moment to say: LOOK AT THAT COVER! ISN'T IT PURRRRTTTYYY?)
If you've been with Olive on this long journey, then you understand the title and what that means for our heroine. Will she destroy the world or won't she? A prophecy spoken ages ago declares that billions will die at her hands, and it just may be true.
Theht is coming. Olive is more aware of it day after day, and her ability to hold off the goddess diminishes at the same rate. Yet, her stubbornness isn't dead yet, nor is her determination to save everyone she loves from disaster.
There may be a sword for that. And she kind of owes Kull a new one, anyway.
What it means, however, is that she will have to travel to lands unknown and hope Theht doesn't smell blood in the water.
With all of that in mind, I don't think I was expecting the amount of adventure I found in the book. I mean, I should have known better, but I guess I wasn't expecting a trek into enemy territory in search of a druid and a sword. Which made me all the more anxious every time something (invariably) went wrong. With the anticipation heightened due to the title name and the very real consequences that I knew were to unfold, every moment before then just upped the ante for me.
It was fast paced and involved a lot of emotional pull. Having been on this journey with Olive all through the previous books, the realities of this one hit you hard and fast, and it's liable to break your heart.
Deathbringer by Tamara Grantham is number 6 in the Olive Kennedy, Fairy World M.D. Series.
Olive is my hero!!! She has 2 worlds--really, 3--dumping on her, and she steps up every time, steps up, and fights back. Hu-Ra!
In Deathbringer, Ms. Grantham has brought much of the drama to a head, and in spite of kick-in-the-teeth, soul-deep crushing sacrifices, Olive stays on her feet. But can she make the ultimate sacrifice and remain standing?
If I could, I would give this read 10 stars!!! Love it, love Olive, and love Ms. Grantham!!
This series has quickly became one of my favourites ever! I love the characters and the world that Tamara has created, the descriptions and personalities are extremly well done. Although this series ended with a cliffhanger, the story itself does have an ending (one I wouldn't of guessed which made it even more amazing) and as I know that the next one will come out in the near future I am happily waiting (well more or less, I would be more than happy to not wait 😄). If you love fantasy with a bit of romance you should check it out. The first one is free on all platforms. I recieved an ebook copy of the beta version in exchange for an honest review.
Wow, What an amazing turn of events this story has brought forth. Grantham has once again shocked me with her style of story-telling and has captured and piqued my attention with this phenomenal read. There were many shocking scenes and some spectacular moments that made this one heck of a wild adventure. The characters were awesome and magical and the story-line just blew me away and had me at the very first page. Even though the author throws us a cliffhanger at the end of this story, it is one that I can live with because I am expecting a different outcome and because I know for sure this adventure into Faythander is not over. This author did a smashing job at twisting the ending just enough to keep me craving for more and I am extremely anxious to see where she will take us next on this remarkable voyage. I highly recommend this read to all.
If you have yet to read this series, then you are missing out on one wild ride. Book one, DREAMTHIEF is free on all platforms, so get your copy and start today.
The author provided me with a digital ARC copy of the book to beta read and for review purposes only. No remuneration was exchanged.
The racing pace of magic, battles, and emotions comes together in an exciting continuation of Olive Kennedy's adventure.
Olive has dreaded the prophecy surrounding her name 'Deathbringer', and now, she has to face it head on. While trying to find a way to squirm around the destruction of two planets, she also has to deal with her own heart's longing and what she really wants in the future. . .if a future still exists.
I've enjoyed this series tremendously and was excited to see what the prophecy (which has always been hanging in the background as a bad omen) would really bring. This story does it all justice. Although Olive again finds herself fighting impossible odds to save the world, there were several new elements in this book which came a refreshing breeze. New characters come to life, and although some are short-lived, they leave a mark. The mysteries surrounding Theht also were explained, and this too took some unexpected turns which added more richness to the plot. Even an entire new world comes into play, one which not only adds a whole new level to the fantasy worlds, but also ties up some loose ends. Several 'old' characters come back and put a nice, rounded feeling to the plot too.
The romance also comes full circle and takes some very sudden and surprising turns, although the warming feeling remains. This, however, doesn't overpower the plot, but rather weaves in and strengthens the battle Olive faces.
The ending offers a little bit of a surprise, and held all the excitement as is expected fro Olive and her companions. Of course, this is still girl power pure but there's also a great sense of friendship and working together. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that this is not the end of Olive's adventures and can't wait to see where the next book goes. . .especially since this one kept me glued to the pages until the very end.
I received a complimentary ARC from the author and love the series so much that I want to leave my thoughts.
Just when I thought the world of Faythlander or surrounding it couldn't get any bigger, Ms. Grantham gives us another world full of beasts and creatures. Having read the first four novels in the series, I was eager to dive into Deathbringer. I've enjoyed this series immensely and I can't wait to see how it all ends---especially with the cliffhanger twist at the end! I did not see that coming. The novel is well written and the mystery, suspense, and magic keep you turning pages. Add in the romance that is weaved in between Kull and Olive, and the series just has something for everyone.
Welp, I whined about the lack of sex and thy finally gave it to us, but it was a painfully private thing, only missing the obligatory train through the tunnel cutaway. Somehow, barbarians and all this squeaky clean crap don't go together. Of course, I also just realized this is maybe a YA series (which explains a LOT, as far as how this is written). Strong female role models a loyal, but I'm not sure why they're not allowed to think about sex. 🙄
Despite all this, it still has my attention, though I'm not happy with another painful cliffhanger. It's starting to feel almost Princess Bride-y, what with all the people only mostly dead, all this unrequited love and obstacles to happiness, flaming swamps, and monstrous critters.
All in all the story is great. There is action, there is love and suspense. But some parts felt rushed, others just completely unnecessary.
I'd love to read some chapters from Kull's point of few, because I still don't get him. I want to ship this relationship, but I don't feel convinsed somehow. The storytelling is so focused on Olive, that it lacks to describe what is happening around her and to her companions. I think that is my biggest issue with the whole series.
This saga grabbed me from the get go and hasn't let go. I don't think I will breathe until Olive and Kull are permanently reunited, have children and grandchildren and until I see all the other characters get either their "comeuppance" or "happily ever afters". Oh, and I want to see Kull's mother set down a peg or two as well. Excellent job Tamara!!!
Deathbringer” is exactly how fantasy should be written. The amount of vivid detail Tamara Grantham puts into every scene is astounding and so completely unique.
Yet another good book. I breezed through the book, completely captivated. So much emotion. Can Olive fulfill the prophecy without actually destroy the worlds? Will Olive and Kull ever get together permenantly? Love the dynamics between the characters.
Once again, Tamara Grantham has surpassed her earlier efforts and crafted a story that outdoes the prior ones in this series...
...I don’t want to spoil any of the surprises that the book has in store. And there are certainly plenty of those! A lot of things were revealed that I already suspected, but many were twists that I never saw coming.
The majority of the characters, especially among the little band of protagonists... get the opportunity to be their best selves in this volume.
As always, there some things that I didn’t particularly enjoy about this book, including how very much time they spent running around trying to accomplish something, in what nonetheless usually proved to be fruitless efforts...
The culmination of the Deathbringer prophecy is at once masterful and also tragic. That all of the aspects of it and other such forbodings must come to pass seem inevitable yet contradictory. The way that everything was tied together in the end was very artfully done. Once again, however, the ending sucks! ...I know that there is one more book in the series, so there is still some hope for a happy ending. Although I honestly don’t see how that could possibly play out, given the current situation in their reality. But I am trying to remain hopeful about it. I definitely cannot wait to read the final volume in the “Olive Kennedy, Fairy World, MD” series!
I received a free eBook copy of this title from the author and have willingly provided an honest review.
It seems like each book in the Fairy World MD series gets better and better. I can not get enough of this series. Every book Tamara Grantham writes is full of magic, adventure, and the fight for happiness. Deathbringer is probably the most emotional book in the series, so far, and my favorite. I could not get enough of this story and I wish I could get my hands on the next book now. I voluntarily received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
