Sweet short and to the point. But don't let the page count full you, every single word of this short tale is dripping with suspense.
This is a must read if you are reading the Underground stories, as I am. The story takes us back into time when Chi discovers that someone has broken into his home and taken his parents. It also tells the first time that Chia meets William. Very interesting story that I enjoyed alot.

Chi: A Short Story 1 (UNDER GROUND #0.1) by Alice Rachel an amazing four star read. This is Chi’s story, he tells us all about how he feels, and why he is the way he is. We get to see when he meets Taylor and starts his journey with the Underground, as part of the series it was great to show us more about the story, we also get to see how Chi feel the terrible heartbreak of being born a twin in a place that only allows one child, he has always felt like a burden, and he has always run from everything, but maybe now it’s his time to stand. This series goes from strength to strength, and gets better with every instalment, each story reveals more details and another part of the journey. Alice Rachel takes you to a different world and even though the story is short, it’s a compelling read that reveals more of the story than you think possible in so few pages.

What a great addition to the Under Ground series. Chi: A Short Story 1 fills in a few gaps as well as overlaps the first book but from a different perspective. More of the story is revealed to us from Chi's point of view and we get to spend time with Thia, Taylor, Chase, and Kayla again. Oh yeah, William and Tina, too. I love this series. This was a great interlude before I dig into book II.

Chi (#1) is A Short Story in the Underground series by Alice Rachel.
Chi’s story begins a couple of years before he meets Thia. He was seventeen years old and the government authorities had stormed his home and arrested his family. He has escaped and is on the run. Tired of always running and being in hiding, Chi decides it’s now time to put up a fight.
As we discovered in Underground, the society that he lives in deems it illegal to have more than one child. And as Chi is the second born he really shouldn’t exist and has been forced to hide from the government authorities for his entire life.
This story fills in a lot of missing information from Chi’s perspective. Again, Ms. Rachel is giving us an insight into Chi- a little more in depth look at how and why he is the way he is and the reasons behind his actions throughout the series. We also get a look at the first time he encounters William Fox.
A great read.

Thank you Ms. Rachel!

For anyone reading the Under Ground series, I would recommend these short stories which give even greater depth to the characters and more story background info. Chi's story begins with the traumatic raid on his family's home. We learn more about his first encounters with William and, of course, the beginning of Chi and Thia. Highly recommend for the very small cover price especially.

Chi: A Short Story 1 (Under Ground #0.1) by Alice Rachel is part of her Under Ground series. It is highly recommended that you read the previous books before this one, they will give you information on characters and help you understand where things are at. This story is told in the POV of Chi and it starts before he meets Thai. If you have read any of this series then you will understand when I say, that it was great seeing Chi's version before he met Thai. We have heard from a few other characters before this point. But you will enjoy his version of what was happening. This is a short story but it keeps you engaged. Find out what Chi's version of things.

Chi is a twin, he was never asked to be born into a family that is only allowed one child. He has never wanted to be a burden on his family but now they are gone. Are they dead? Are they safe? He has no idea. He has spent his life hiding and running. He is determined not to hide anymore. What will happen to him? Is he safe? How will he survive?

I am not sure how many of Alice Rachel books I have read now but each one has a piece of the puzzle. Just when I think I know what is happening before and after, there is another version in someone else's POV. Alice loves spending time with her husband and guinea pigs. When she is not writing, she teaches French, reading and drawing. This is a fast reading short story that will have you reading until the end. I read it in one sitting and I think you will too. You will enjoy Chi's version of things and will want to see what happens next. I highly suggest this installment of this series as I know you will want to see what happens next in this series.

Chi: A Short Story 1 (Under Ground #1.1) by Alice Rachel
5 Out of stars 5
This story starts two years before he meets Thia Clay…

I just love Ms. Rachel work and did not disappoint me in this short story. I simple love her work. . She has this unique way of telling her story and the characters are well developed. The way she surprise’s you at every turn was really remarkable especially when you thought one thing and it was the total opposite.
What happens when the authorities have laws and one of them is the middle class can only have one child so what happens when the mother is pregnant with twins?

Seventeen year old Chi never asked to be born the second in a family only allowed to have one child. He never wanted to be a burden on his parents. But now his parents and twin brother have been taken away and Chi has to run for his life. Run and hide like he has always done. But Chi is tired of hiding. Now has come the time to fight back.
Will Chi be able to fight back and make a difference?

I highly recommend this story/series and you need to read them in-order to get the full effect of the series… She also made some good points in this story that I realizes that this could really happen in this day in age.

Chi: A Short Story 1 (Under Ground #0.1) by Alice Rachel is part of her Under Ground series. You do need to read Books 1 and possibly 2 before you read this story.
Chi’s story starts when he is seventeen (two years before he meets Thia). His parents and his twin brother have been taken away and Chi is living under an alias. He has been sent to school by his surrogate family: previously he was home schooled by his mother. He is looking for answers; he wants to be able to fight back against the authoritative system he lives in. Will he find answers? Will he be able to take some control?
Amongst all this he sees Thia. When he realises she is promised to William Fox he is angry and afraid for her. He sets out to save her and win her for himself. This gives more insight into his relationships with his parents and also details the depth of feeling he has for his twin – Stephen.
I love Alice Rachel’s work. She has developed her characters so that they are multi-dimensional and these short stories detailing the points of view of her characters give them greater depth and perspective. To know your characters so well to be able to do this shows an amazingly creative mind as well as skill. Chi’s story is a great addition to the Underground Series.

Chi: A Short Story 1 is a mini story in the Under Ground series by Alice Rachel. It shows the readers Chi's point of view in the time before, and shortly after meeting Thia. The story begins when The Authorities have raided his house, and taken his twin brother and parents. He blames himself for their capture, and he is the Unwanted child that put them in danger his whole life. Now alone, he turns to his parent's friends the Wilcox family, and they take him in. He goes to school and tries to blend in as much as possible, and soon meets Taylor and begins training to be part of the Underground. He is on a mission to find and free his family, and will stop at nothing.
I enjoyed this story. Not only for seeing things from Chi perspective, but more because I enjoyed the back story. I didn't like it as much a Chi 2, but I think it was a good addition to the story. I love Alice Rachel and her ability to make us get sucked into the character's lives. I don't know how she packs so much into such a short story, but these pages are information overload. Highly recommend to anyone who read the Under Ground series. 5 star.

Book Review: Chi: A Short Story Book 1
Author: Alice Rachel
FOUR STARS
Chi's short story book 1 starts two years before he meets Thia. It is a companion book to the Underground Series of books by author Alice Rachel. This is a very short 15 minute read that gives you some of the detail about what occurred in Chi's training after his parents were taken by the officers.
This tells you how he came to despise William Fox. As well as the actual meeting of Thia. How he met Taylor, Kayla, Chase and Tina. Some of the content of this book we read about in the Underground Series as well but it does go into more depth.
Alice Rachel is very good at describing emotions and detail about surrounds. Good read just not very lengthy.

Chi: A short story 1 by Alice Rachel

Chi: A short story 1, is a short story by Alice Rachel that follows Chi from when his family is taken, to when he falls for Thia. This 4 star short story is a quick read that allows us to see how Chi went to live with Jane and Neil Wilcox of The Underground, him going to public school and meeting William as well as when he finally meets Thia. This short story explains how Jane introduced Chi to the Underground so that he could start being trained by Taylor and Kayla in how to fight and use guns. This is another nice addition to the Under Ground series and allows for more insight into Chi.

Chi: A Short Story 1 by Alice Rachel begins after the raids on his house. At that time, he lost, not only his mother and father, but his twin brother. He has to run before he is found since he is an unwanted.

He is tired of hiding so he joins another family and attends school where he meets the love of his life, Thia Clay and her fiancé, William. At the same time, he learns about the Underground movement and decides to join. He can’t stand the world and wants to help change it.

Another great read by Rachel. I love learning more about the characters. I devour all of her books!

Chi a short story 1 is first in Alice Rachel's Under Ground short stories (0.1) that takes place during her Under Ground series. These are embellishment stories that give you more insight on the characters in the series. Officers invaded Chi's home to take him but instead took the rest of his family because there is only one child allowed per family and they had too many. Now he must learn to fight and blend in if he wants to find his family again.

The Underground Series by Alice Rachel is a series of novellas, short stories and full novels. There are many characters in each novel while the short stories focus on only one or two characters.
This short story is named after a character who is considered an “unwanted”, Chi. Basically society has classified each family to a social level and determined how many children they may have. Anything above that number would be considered and unwanted and put on a destroy list. Chi, even though he is a twin, is an unwanted in the eyes of the society. He must stay hidden from everyone. However, as the years go on Chi manages to venture outside of his safe bubble after his family is taken by the authorities. This short story gives us a little in-sight into Chi’s thoughts about a girl he falls for, Thia, and her fiancé, William Fox.
Highly recommend starting this series from the start as that is the only way to understand the characters.

Chi: A short story 1 by Alice Rachel is a five star read. This is a short story supplementing the Underground series of books. I would recommend that you read the Underground books before this although you could read it independently. This story looks at the time before Chi meets Thia and when his parents are arrested, it fills in some of the gaps by showing the events by Chi’s POV.
These shorts stories are very clever and demonstrate the skill of this author, they give a greater depth to the characters and show how much thought and imagination has gone into creating this world. The detail in the short story is fabulous and these stories can completely change you may have at the end of the main books, it is amazing how filling in small details can completely change the perspective of the entire story, it is really very clever writing.

Chi: A Short Story 1 by Alice Rachel
Four Stars

Chi: A Short Story 1 is part of the Under Ground Series #0.1 by Alice Rachel. This set of short stories are small snapshots, most less than 50 pages, and written in different points of view. Therefore, they should be read in order to get the whole picture of this story.

This book is written in Chi’s POV. This book starts before he has met Thia. It shows Chi’s feelings and thoughts as he knows them. It takes him from a time when he wakes up and his family is gone. He moves in with some trusted friends and what happens as he tries to find his family.

That is the thing about this series each little chunk is a block of time that you get with from each character's point of the same period. They make for very interesting chunks of the big picture.

Chi 1 is a short story in Alice Rachel’s Under Ground series, there will be another Chia short story. You absolutely need to read ALL of the short stories that Alice keeps writing as they offer you such an insight into the characters that help you to understand the main story line and the characters’ motivations better.
Chi 1 will fill some of the gaps that you might have been thinking hmmm while reading the first book, it also gives a different perspective. Do NOT let yourself fooled by the limited pages, the writer does not pull punches and every single page counts! It totally has romance, drama and dystopian angst.
I suggest that if you are a fan of Under Ground series, keep reading the short stories, you will enjoy and appreciate the full books much more.

An anomaly, an aberration…
This is a small novella that is part of the Underground series by Alice Rachel. It definitely has strong overtones of dystopian, romance, and drama. It is short and sweet but do not let that be the determining factor in this book. It packs a lot into each word and the story is super well developed that you feel as if you have just read 100 pages not 10.
This one is from Chi’s point of view two years before he meets Thia. He is seventeen years old and the authorities have just raided his home and have taken his family away. “I’ve just killed my whole family. They will all die because of me. Because I never should have been born. Because I’m an anomaly, an aberration. And a coward!”

Chi: A short story 1 by Alice Rachel
4 stars
Having not read the Underground series for which this book accompanies I was worried that I wouldn’t understand what was going on but actually for me it was a really great introduction into the characters and on a more personal level. It has also made me want to go and read the series now to find out what happens!
I really liked Chi’s character and felt for him that he was one of the ‘unwanted’. He was more than ready to fight to find his family and do whatever it took to get them back home again! I’m sure for readers of the series this books may expand on some things but for me I really enjoyed getting to know about Chi! I thought it was really well written for such a short story! A great introduction to this author too!

I was excited for this addition to the series by Alice Rachel because I knew we would get to read about the first time Chi and William meet. The only thing they do indeed share, is the urgency to rebel, but both in very different ways. I enjoyed learning about Chi from before he met Thia, reading what he went through in hiding, in discovering his parents had been taken. This was as an emotionally raw story as all the previous in the series. Definitely one you should read, if only to cement your love for Chi!

Alice Rachel’s Chi:  Short  story 1 is a detailed description of when life as Chi knows it falls apart.  The raw emotion he feels in the beginning is intense.  You can feel his exasperation as he goes through the motions to fit in.  All the while,  he has plans of his own. This piece is an interesting read that gives us the background on Chi.

***This short story should be read AFTER reading Under Ground***
This is the backstory Chi (pronounced Shy) and we learn how he became who he is today. It’s told from his POV and we learn about his family of birth. I gained more insight into him and like him even more.

I'm a sucker for short stories that are in the POV of the guy! I will always read them! Chi is my baby boy and I loved reading from his voice. My heart hurt when he was looking for his brother :(

Mrs. Alice, I'm gonna need like 10 full books from Chi's POV please and thank you!
