The Rescue: A Valentine's Novella

Rate this book
Valentine Hart may have been named after the holiday of love, but she sure hadn't felt any of it in her life thus far.

Bo Montgomery had found great love once, but let the opinion's of his family stop him from getting what he truly wanted.

A Valentine's Day curse (or miracle) finds Val off the beaten path and directly into harm's way and into Bo's strong arms. The arms of a big man who sees in Val his second chance. If only he can convince her to stay after only three days of unbridled passion...

The Rescue is a novella that celebrates all things...LOVE.

I was born and raised in Joliet, IL. I wrote my first story in the 3rd grade and fell in love with creating my own world. But throughout the years I have lacked the discipline to actually sit down and write. Even with a minor in Creative Writing (which should have been my major).
I have been a avid romance novel reader since Jr. High and have read hundreds. I have lived in Chicago, Japan, California and now reside in Arizona. And I wanted nothing more than to combine my love of romance, writing and traveling and put them in a book.
So one day out of the blue while in the middle of reading another book, the story that I had started months ago kept bombarding my every thought. Until I couldn't even continue to read the book I was in the middle of. I put down my Nook and picked up my laptop and about fifteen days later, I had finished my first draft of my manuscript. It was the most exhilarating moment of my life. To know that I finally did it. That I finally finished something that I had started. And now I'm and AUTHOR and PUBLISHER! I never would have thought that was possible three months ago. I just hope that everyone that picks up any of the books I write from here on out, enjoy them as much as I did writing them.

This is the love journey of Bo and Val Val's Real name is valentine Hart. Poor girl was conceived on Valentine's Day. And she believes that it was a curse because she's never in a relationship long enough to make it to Valentine's Day. Currently she's going through a dry spell approximately one year without a boyfriend and she's in a job that she hates to Boston's are on a last-minute trip to hours away from her home in the middle of a rainstorm. But being the trooper that she is and of course she has some self-esteem issues she completes her task and is driving home and she happens to drive on the road that gets flooded out thank goodness Bo is there with his truck to help her out. He takes her to his home which is a ranch of the road and that's with the fireworks start. This was a cute fast and furious love connection. It was a great story I met her I recommended it to you

Do you believe it is possible to fall in love in 3 days? Well, that's exactly what happens when Val takes a wrong exit during a torrential rain storm and ends up almost floating away in the river.

Bo, her valiant hero in a black pick up truck, rescues her from the raging water and invites her to be his houseguest until the roads are passable. And can I just say I love that he is a big burly man with a layer of fluff over his big muscles. Yeees!

The minute they touch they both feel an electrical pull towards each other and the magic just continues during the three days of bliss on Bo's ranch.

There's a bit of drama with his family, but for the most part things are dreamy. They make love day and night, unable to get enough of each other. The rest you'll just have to read for yourself.

This is a novella so it is short in length, leaving the author room to expand the story should she see fit. This is a cute love story, dropping just in time for V-Day! 4.5 stars, but rounded up to 5!

This was a cute instalove novella for Valentine’s Day. I thought it was Black Love but it’s not, he’s a Texas rancher, and his parents are super racist, if you wanted to avoid that scene. He was a giant teddy bear though and she was sweet too.

This book is completely fantastical, and the author doesn’t strive to make it more. And, it works. Bo and Val are two enormously likable people, each searching for love and never finding it—until the day Val and her car are caught in a flash flood on the perimeter of Bo’s ranch, and he rescues her. The instant attraction is there, and they spend the next three days in total bliss. The sexual encounters are 🔥🔥🔥 (since it’s pure fantasy no condoms allowed). I was really caught up in the emotions that the story elicits, and the ending is very satisfying. Some hick-ups in editing were noted along the way, however. Read it and enjoy it for what it’s meant to be—an engaging flight of fancy.

Even though this was uber-unbelievable, it was sweet. And Big ol' Bo was a manly treat!
There were a few editing issues, but not enough to totally sabotage the story. (At the very beginning, the author used the word 'slouching' when I believe that she meant 'sluicing').
Still - I enjoyed reading this.

Love has no timeline

Valentine and Bo were suppose to find each other. Their hearts knew what their minds were trying to figure out. They were real and relatable. Their passion and connection was intense. Val needed to see the difference of her life before Bo in order to really see he is her home.

The Rescue by Twyla Turner was a very intriguing story because the plot of the story I don't believe has ever been accomplished before in other romance novels (or not that I can recall at this time). I really enjoyed the characters, Bo Montgomery and Valentine Hart. One character seemed to have never experienced the meaning of love because they thought they were curse, and the other wanted to get their chance to share their life with someone significant. I loved how the author wrote her sex scenes. She definitely knew exactly what she was doing because I felt every emotion and vulnerability that these two characters were displaying. I also loved how Twyla Turner assimilated racial division regarding the hero's parents; that was really an eye-opening scene. This story felt so real and amazing. I would definitely recommend this book to someone who wants a quick and emotional read or just looking for a gratifying Valentine novella. :)

The only reason I didn't allocate the leftover .75 stars was due to the fact that this insta-love could only work out in novels and movies, but one must be cautious in real life. But damn...if only love like Bo and Val's were that effortless.

I love Twyla Turner. She never disappointed me in the past, and she did not disappoint with this short & sweet romantic read. I read it on Valentine’s Day in one sitting and I smiled the whole way through.

The hero and heroine were both equally likable, and their love scenes were spicy.

I think every woman would want a man like Bo in their life. He’s strong, handsome and most of all - kind. That’s a killer combination. Yet, I understood Val’s hesitations as to whether or not to take the leap and plan a future with him. I think I would have the same fears and reservations she did. But then again… would I ever find another man like him?

It was a great novella. I highly recommend it! :D

A fabulous couple

This was a short but enjoyable read. I especially liked the slow interaction between Val and Bo. Both protagonists knew they had that chemistry yet they were nervous ...so nervous. I just loved Bo. What a kind and loving man! Nothing like his bigoted parents. I loved the way he stood up to them and did not allow them to disrespect Val. He is such a gentleman - a gentle giant. Val was an exploited assistant to as selfish boss. I am glad she saw the light and found her HEA. It would have been pleasant to have an epilogue say two years later with them having children. The amount of sex within the novel made it a very believable outcome. Great read Xyla! A quick and entertaining read.!!

Five Deliciously Decadent ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Val was indeed rescued by hero Bo in more ways than one : and she in turn rescued him right back from loneliness😍 Together this perfectly matched couple created a sweet , tender 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶instalove romance, in which they defied the odds of their differences to find true love...Sigh.😘 Even though this was a novella, the characters & story were fully developed & thoroughly engaging! I was fully immersed in the 📕 from page one to the end! The only disappointment was the lack of an epilogue, otherwise this is another Twyla Turner gem👐😀

Excellent! Enjoyable! Two people that seemed destined to meet and when they did, there was an immediate connection. Probably why no other of their relationships in the past had worked. Even nature made sure they met! And…., the animals or rather a certain horse, pushed them together and gave his approval for the relationship! Although, not all parties were set on them being together, but you can read and find out why!

What An Unique Valentine's Rescue

This book had me at impatient rain storm, lol. If it only takes a moment of trying to get home faster to finding the love of your life, I'm all in. I love this romance between Val and Bo. Bo was just a super sweet, sexy ranch owner waiting to find love again since divorcing his wife. Valentine had given up on love after convincing herself she was cursed. There coming together was fast but simply perfection.

Very cute novella

A cute Valentine romance with a heroine named Valentine, a bear of a man named Bo, a flood, a rescue, a matchmaking horse, a sprawling ranch, and interfering, bigoted parents.

I enjoyed the characters and the story. This is my first story by this author but it won't be my last.

⚡⚡☔🔥🔥Bo Montgomery & Val

One of the 🔥🔥🔥test novellas I have read in a day. Bo was alpha male with so much strength and character, he seemed almost real. Val Hart needed someone to be in her corner and have her back and Bo did with a Whole lot of LOVING and ❤ CARING! How could you turn away from what he was providing and saying. BO HAS MY VOTE💪💯

I Love Me Some Big Men

What a lovely story. I enjoyed the fact that Ms Turner got right down to the heart of the story, two people who fate allowed to find each other. I enjoyed how they first met and their initial shyness that was overcome by the hot attraction.
Loved the m and the story.

I really liked this story!

Not anything new in the world of romance but it is a testament of a great storyteller to be able to still make such a common place plot into something fresh and good!

I loved the vulnerability of both Val and Bo...and the simple fact that kindness and communication can heal most things.

Love 💕 it! Give it try and thank me later.

Good read

Story has a good premise. Needed more development. For instance what happened with Jo's parents. How did Valentine's parents take her falling for a white man over a period of days and willing to uproot her life. Did she fell them about His racist parents rec arc etc

Great short love story

The character development was done really well. The length of the story did not lessen it in the least. The hero and heroine had awseome chemistry and the story was sweet and love scenes HOT. I really enjoyed this story and would recommend you read it

I loved Bo and Val. Talk about packing a lot into a quick read. It had enough spiciness and romance to make a reader happy. Loved the dishwashing scene by the way. Sexy, sexy. Would love to hear more from this couple, maybe as a side story in a book for her friend Sam. Great job Twyla.
