A review from my old blog...

This book ends the Zion Legacy series but wets my appetite for more of the AD Chronicles. I currently own the first four and I can't wait to dive into the remaining three.

While I absolutely love the Thoene's writing style and the periods of history that they choose I happen to prefer the stories that they write that take place during the time of Christ.

The Thoene's weave together all kinds of symbols, symbols in the Bible and symbols of the Hebrew language to tie together reality/truth and fiction.

I have an analytical mind so seeing how different pieces of the puzzle fit together gives me immense joy. Perhaps that's why I love these books so much!

Again, I give a very strong recommendation for the Thoenes.

This was the hardest book of the series for me. I couldn't stay focused and I kept losing interest. I did love how everything connected together (Thoene is a master of making the little details blow your mind as you start to see the big picture), but I struggled with the massive change in focus for this series. The series so abruptly changed at book 4 and it was pretty much the start of a new series. I only finished it because I hoped that the 1948 story would be tied up, but that didn't happen.

In my opinion this is the best yet in this series, the authors are familiarizing you with Jewish customs and religious beliefs. The love story continues, the healing powers of our Heavenly Father through his son, Jesus Christ. Your being taken to the Sacrificial Lamb of God. Healing the Hearts of men and women who have experienced loss. The tormoil of the times. You ars introduced to the shephards of jerusalem preparing the unblemished lambs for sacrifice for the Passover and the impending desire for the Messiah to appear, Jerusalem's Hope

I absolutely loved reading this last book of this series. It moved me and helped me feel even more prepared for the coming Christmas holidays. I am already thinking that as soon as I can't remember all the stories I've read in this series, I will re-read them all, but it may take awhile to forget them. The Thoenes do it well. They include all of my favorite things in a book and I come away a better person and a more Christ-centered person. I especially love the history, the culture, the customs, the Hebrew, the prophecies, the scriptures, and the people put into the stories. It's all just right and just what I love reading. Highly recommend.
I'm a little sad because I've already read the next 12 books in the next series. What will I do now???

I really was just done with this whole series because there was no closure for the characters that I had been following for THREE series! Only to discover this book has no answers and no closure, just a segue to a twelve book series….so frustrated.

I had a hard time getting into it, and at the end I was just completely let down.

Beautifully written, but I struggled to stay focused. And at the end of it, he reveals himself. I have not read any of the other books yet, however, I hope to find copies of them to read the entire story

An excellent plausible story during the time of Jesus; however, I dropped one star because this series should have been split into two. The first three stories centered in the 1940's, and the last three centered in the time of Jesus.

as always

There has not been one book from the Thoene’s that has disappoint me. This story of the shepherds who witnessed the birth of Yeshua is raw, emotional and filled with hope. Especially during these present days. In Jerusalem.

I really love the stories written by Brock and Bodie Thoene. The research they put into each story really brings them to life. I look forward to reading more of their novels.

The final leg of the journey in the Zion series takes us to ancient Jerusalem. Jerusalem Hope is the final book in the Zion Chronicles series:
Synopsis:
Moshe is sent to study some scrolls in the ancient temple in Jerusalem. The scroll contains a story about ancient Jerusalem during the reign of Rome. Pontius Pilate is governor of the area and has sent Marcus the centurion to oversee the water aqueduct that is being built for Jerusalem’s benefit. The people in Jerusalem are against this aqueduct because of use of the Korban money (used to support the temple in Jerusalem). Nakdamion is on the Sanhedrin council but was asked to research the claims of Yeshua and whether they are true or not? He meets three orphans Emet, Avel, and H-or Tov who are sent to Zadok. They have a special message for him. Will the events that are about to occur keep them from giving Zadok the message? Will events escalate with the aqueduct?

My Thoughts:

I felt this book was okay and kept my interest. I did read it a little out of order in the series. This story takes place in ancient past. I would recommend using this series to study for daily quiet time study. The authors of this series are known for seamlessly going from one series to the next. This whole series is to prepare you for the one of their current series The AD Chronicles. Once you have read this book you will understand the purpose of The AD Chronicles.
What would you do to protect what you believe? Would you step out in faith to deliver a message? Would you go against authorities to follow God’s calling? These are the questions asked in Jerusalem’s Hope.

I realized as I read this that I had never finished this series--probably because I read it as it was published and somehow never got it completed. I was excited to put an end point, of sorts, on these characters. It also made some later Biblical novels of the Thoenes more understandable! I highly recommend this series for it's helpfulness in understanding Israel's fight for freedom and the pleasure of reading about everyday people struggling with waiting for Messiah's arrival.

This book was a surprise to me. Characters that were healed by Jesus, blind, deaf, and their living perspectives was very moving. The shepherding of Bethlehem and the surrounding of the flock that are those presented at Passover was a learning experience and shows insight into the workings of hearts that are real worshippers and those who are false worshippers.

I like historical fiction, and I love the way the Thoene's bring the Bible alive with historical characters as well as fictional (but realistic) characters. On to the AD Chronicles (series that continues the story of Jesus)!

Great historical retelling of the beginning of Statehood of Israel, good characterisations and authentic Messianic Jewish culture. I also liked that it was fair about the different peoples/cultures/religions involved, even though the book was told from the (Messianic) Jewish perspective.

So sorry to see this series end. Of course the A. D. Chronicles come next . . . but I've already read them! What wonderful books they all are.

Here's my issue with this book, as the last book in this series, I was looking for it to wrap up both story lines, both the "present" day struggle (1940's) for Israel's statehood, and the story of Yeshua. The first 3 books covered the modern day, and the last two books covered the olden days. This book did not deliver in that regard as it never really went back and concluded the present day Israel as a state story, and it only set up another 12 book "olden" day series. So ultimately the two separate story lines didn't feel cohesive. I do like their writing, and enjoyed what basically is a clear explanation of Messianic Judaism.
