A psychic PI's latest case may make her a serial killer's next victim.
Samantha Davidson is a tough cookie with a surprisingly tender center. Her abilities as a medium give her access to the ultimate eyewitnesses--actual murder victims. Unfortunately, ghostly testimony is not admissible in court. Samantha and her partner, Det Lance MacDowell, invest a lot of old-fashioned police work to connect the otherworldly dots.
This time around the killings are especially gristly, and Samantha finds herself with an uncomfortable link to the killer's consciousness. What results is a scary game of cat and mouse, with the murderer getting way too close to Samantha for comfort.
The author does a great job with the ongoing development of her series characters--no small feat considering the brevity of the novella form. We get an even more emotionally complex heroine and a fully fleshed out supporting cast. There's also a wonderful balance of paranormal and mystery elements. The ghostly help is just enough to keep Samantha on track without doing her job for her. There are some "oh my God" twists that had my heart beating like crazy.
I enjoyed GHOSTLY MURDERS and am excited for a third Samantha Davidson spook-fest.
