Cowboy, It's Cold Outside

Rate this book
Everyone in town knows that Christmas in Twilight has a way of bringing lovers together . . . but will its magic bring this pair from “I won’t” to “I do”?

Wearing a too-tight “Santa Baby” costume held in by a double pair of Spanx, Paige MacGregor runs headlong into a gorgeous, grey-eyed hunk of a long, tall cowboy. And not just any cowboy, but country-western star Cash Colton, visiting Twilight to perform in a charity concert. Most women would melt at his feet, but Paige knows all too much about self-assured men with cocky attitudes, so she tells him to get lost.

Cash is in town, nursing his own broken heart, but Paige has knocked him off his feet. He’s convinced she’s perfect—someone to inspire his music and share his now-empty bed. True, he’s not marriage material, but he’s determined to convince her that they’re perfect together—at least for a while. But what he doesn’t count on is falling in love with the one woman who isn’t about to give him the time of day!

Lori Wilde can’t remember a time when she didn’t want to write. She even went to nursing school so she could have a schedule flexible enough to allow her to write on the side. She nursed for 20 years, working in a variety of settings from the newborn nursery to the recovery room, to dialysis. But she never lost her desire to write.

She sold her first book in 1994 to Silhouette Romance but later discovered she had a flair for comedy and branched out to Harlequin Duets and now, to Blaze.

Lori is an adventuresome soul who loves to travel. She’s taken flying lessons, completed two marathons, rode in a hot-air balloon, performed with a professional jazz band, traveled Europe as a teenager, hiked volcanoes in Hawaii, trod on glaciers in Alaska, shot white-water rapids, water-skied, snow-skied, raced all-terrain vehicles, bodysurfed in the Gulf of Mexico, and photographed grizzly bears in Yellowstone.

She lives in her native Texas, with her own real-life hero, Bill.

Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside is book eight in the Twilight, Texas series by Lori Wilde. First, I want to say that this is my very first book by Lori Wilde. So yes, you can totally read this as a stand alone. There are characters that I am sure have been the focus of previous books in the series but it didn’t detract at all from my enjoyment of this book. And, enjoy it I did. This is a beautifully written, sweet, lovely book. I highlighted so many quotes that I can’t decide which ones to give you. I sighed, swooned, laughed and ached for these two characters.

Cash Colton/inspiration

Cash Colton is a country music star that has hit a road block. One year ago, his relationship ended with his girl friend, his band broke up, and his favorite guitar was stolen. And, he stopped hearing the music. A year out of the country to try to find himself doesn’t seem to have helped. He’s come back to Twilight, Texas as a favor to his best friend, Emma, to play in a charity event. It’s December 2. When he arrived at the play house to see Emma’s play, he is greeted at the door by a woman in a sexy Santa Baby outfit, and one look into her eyes, and the music came back.

houseboat at christmas

Paige MacGregor certainly isn’t where she thought she would be at this stage of her life. She lost her father eighteen months ago and now has her Grammie in a nursing home. An ex-boyfriend who unbeknownst to her was a con man, has taken everything she has to her name, so now she’s trying to put the pieces back together working three jobs and just trying to hang on while living on a houseboat. When Cash walks into the play house, she felt the world tilt. The connection was like nothing she had ever experienced. But, Paige knows all about suave men who know how to smooth talk a woman. There is no way she is falling for that again. Cash may be used to women falling at his feet but she won’t be one of them.

But Cash doesn’t discourage easily. Paige is his muse. Whole songs are exploding into his head every time he sees her. He would somehow convince her to give him a chance. The problem was that Cash never has really committed to a woman and Paige is most definitely not a short term type of woman. But, when their lips finally did touch, everything Cash thought he knew about love changed

“When he’d kissed her the world had shifted. It was as if he’d been wearing a blindfold all his life and someone had yanked it off to reveal a lush, beautiful garden full of wondrous things.”

“When he kissed her it felt as if she was returning home after years of wandering aimlessly through the world, not even knowing she was searching. And now finding it all the same.”

sweet dance

Try as she might, Paige falls and falls hard. But can she ever really fit into Cash’s world? Can she just enjoy the time he is here and let him go when his time is finished? The music Cash is writing is his best work ever. But it’s completely different than what he’s known for. He’s sure that this is the direction he is supposed to take but what will everyone else think?

“When I see your face the world fills with music.”

I loved every page of this book. These two were perfect for each other but they had so much to work through before they could truly move forward together. Despite everything she had been through, Paige loved everything about Christmas and her sunny attitude filled the pages. And Cash, well, he pretty much had me from the first page.

love always wins

If I have one complaint, it’s that I wanted a little more in the epilogue. I wanted to know what happened with Cash’s music and if Paige got her credit issues ironed out. I guess that means the author did her job because she left me wanting more. Perhaps there will be more in future books in this series? This was a perfect addition to my holiday reading and I highly recommend it.

“I choose you. All the time. Every time. No exception.”

Lori Wilde returns to Twilight, Texas in another Christmas romance for two very deserving individuals ready for love. Cash Colton has come to town to perform a charity concert after being away from music. He’s hoping that this will be a start of something to get his career back in gear after a year of lying low and hoping to get his creative juices flowing again. When he sees a cute Santa Helper his creativity goes into overdrive and he believes he’s found his inspiration! Unfortunately for him, Paige MacGregor is not on the market and isn’t going down that road again with a handsome sweet talker. Can he convince her to take a chance on him?

Paige is in Twilight needing a fresh start after her whole life was upended by a con artist. She’s starting from scratch living on her uncle’s houseboat and working 3 jobs in order to make ends meet. What she finds out her new neighbor is Cash himself she tries unsuccessfully to stay away from him but he’s just too darn irresistible for her. She’s in need of some excitement and gives into his advances and I can see them balancing each other out. She’s stability and has roots and enjoys the simple things whereas he’s larger than life and has a country star music career. They may not look like they would go together at first but there is definitely more underneath their facades. They both have been hurt by their pasts and it took a little bit of trust to let the other person in and reveal their stories to one another. Both Cash and Paige had to do some real soul searching in order to figure out what they want and make a real commitment to going after it, especially when it comes to a loving relationship.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and love this quaint town of Twilight and all its endearing characters. Not only that but the author brings back family and friends from previous stories and we get to catch up. This is a close-knit community and Twilight has its traditions that are a little strange but you love their good intentions. My only detraction of this story was the overabundance of flowery words and descriptions of love and his musical inspirations. I was a little distracting and could be pared down a bit. Overall a very good story for two characters that get a real chance at finding love for the first time and a great start on a joint redo in life.

Christmas and cowboys? Well, maybe not an actual cowboy but a sexy country singer giving back? Um, yeah, yeah that'll work real nice, too.

Cowboy, It's Cold Outside left me smiling.

The Gist: Cash is a big country star and he's in Twilight for a friend's benefit concert. Should be a simple gig. Sing a little. Do a little good. Christmas it up a bit. Keep his mitts off one of Santa's Helpers. Yeah, that last one. Blunder. The spunky small town girl with a big heart totally knocks his world sideways.

Cash is a captivating hero. You can't help but like him. And feel for him. He's wandered his whole life and really has no one to call his own. It made me ache for him. And Paige has had some hard knocks in life but keeps going. She's a fighter through and through.

And they wee so fun together. His free spirit and playfulness. Her solid roots and realness. It was the perfect balance and brought out the best in each of them. It was fun watching them hang out and hard not to smile over them. And I worried over them, too, as they dealt with all the things life had handed them over the years.

I loved the Christmas in a small town setting, too. The cheer and comfort. It was just good for the heart.

There were two struggles, though. There was an...abundance of words. So many words. Some parts too flowery and others that could have been easily edited down and not lost any of the feels. And a personal pet peeve of mine when a heroine messes up but then the hero apologizes. I really needed a bit more from the heroine there at the end.

Overall, though, Christmas fun was had and I enjoyed spending time with Paige and Cash. They really were a cute couple.

This book seemed very wordy for what was otherwise a light fluff read. I think the purple prose got to me. I was crinkling my nose or scratching my head at things like:
His gaze was a lawn mower, sheared right over her. Scalped. Clipped.
So this one didn't work for me, though I did spend a good amount of time with the story before giving up. I was never invested in either of our main characters and I'm not feeling overly bad about walking away. DNF at 55%.

The Power of Love of Music, Christmas & Traditions are melded in this wonderful story of 2 people meeting in Twighlight, Texas

Totally enjoyed this 5star visit to Twighlight Texas ... "Cowboy, it's cold outside "... each Chapter intro interestingly set the stage with technical music jargon ... Although there was no award shows as such in the book .... I actually could hear the music ... At one point I was reminded of Sam Hunt's performance at a recent award show ... during his performance he sat beside his new wife, singing his hit song "Body Like A Back Road" ... she got a bit embarrassed too as Sam crooned to her ... It was a treasure ..... Just like this new book of Lori Wilde's ... worthy of an award. I loved it ... definitely a great book for my Christmas Book Basket for under my tree this Christmas ! Full of great emotion, fun times, teary situations in relationships, and health and whole lot of everything happy, family times ... and the power of love of music and dance, Christimas and traditions. I loved meeting Paige H. MacGregor and Cash H. Colton in this creative love story with a very different special sparkle for me from her other books ... This book must not be missed for this Christmas season and in the future to return to. I think Hallmark should snap this romantic love story up & perhaps for the big screen too.

After enduring the worst year of his life Cash Colton is ready for a reboot, and he is hoping his little visit to Twilight Texas will be just what he needs...but he winds up finding far more than he bargained for when Paige waltzes into his world. There is something about the beauty in a Santa Baby costume that strikes a cord with him, and while he isn't so sure he wants to travel down the road that leads to love, he can't help but want to follow her to the ends of the earth. She is feisty, beautiful, sweet, and intriguing as hell and he has to have her... no matter the cost!

Dressing up in a overly snug Santa Baby costume, doesn't top Paige's list of best career choices, but it's a job and it pays the bills, so she is embracing it the best she can... no matter how humiliating it may be. She is taking the job seriously, trying to prove to her boss that she can handle the task. So, when a devastatingly handsome cowboy tries to sneak in before the show starts, she puts a stop to his little plan... only to realize a few minutes later that she made a huge mistake, when she learns that he is part of the show. He doesn't seem to upset about the mistake though, and actually uses it as a way to try to charm his way into her good graces. But she isn't falling for him or his antics... she is well versed in playboys, and she has no intentions of playing his games!

This sweet and entertaining story is sure to warm the hearts of readers and stir up a little Christmas spirit! From the very first page these wonderful characters pulled me into their world and made me feel right at home, and they put on quite a show, they had me laughing, smiling, and swooning throughout! This was my first visit to Twilight, and after being introduced to it's residents I think it is safe to say that I will be scheduling another visit in the very near future, I can't wait to get a more in-depth view of these endearing folks!! If you enjoy small town romance stories I suggest you make a trip to Twilight, Texas and acquaint yourselves with these endearing folks...you will love them!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.

Absolutey loved this book!
5 Stars toCowboy It's Cold Outside (Twilight Texas #8) by Lori Wilde.

I love Twilight, Texas! This town that Lori Wilde creates is warm, inviting and filled with loyal family and friends. Once again, we are back to celebrate another Christmas and another couple finding their happily-ever-after. One of the aspects of Lori's books that endear me to this welcoming town is the characters. From the first book, we are introduced to so many and each book welcomes more while giving us glimpses to past characters. I feel like I know this town and its citizens so well. All the quaint shops and townsfolk always willing to help, even when you don't want them to, are all to be found in Twilight.

Cash and Paige.......

Paige was not born and raised in Twilight but has spent a lot of time here over the years visiting relatives. When she finds herself at the mercy of identity theft and alone, there is only one place she can think of to go and heal. Her cousins and the community of Twilight welcome Paige. They are protective of her and won't think twice of helping her.

Down on her luck, financially, Paige is working three jobs to make ends meet. It is at her theatre job that she meets country music star Cash Colton. Of course she has no idea who he is when they meet which while doesn't impress Paige, Cash is intrigued.

Paige and Cash have their own reasons for guarding their hearts, for not trusting in love completely. My heart went out to them both. But the chemistry and attraction between Paige and Cash cannot be ignored. Cash wants to know her better; he believes she is his muse. Paige wants to put her trust in a man but doesn't think she can even though she can't stop thinking about Cash.

They experience ups and downs and their relationship is a slow building one. I was fine with that. Their tension continued to build while the walls around their hearts began to crumble. I just absolutely love this series, love this author and can't wait for her next Twilight book. If you are a fan of quaint, friendly towns with a bit of eclectic charm and loyal and loving hearts, you'll adore this book. I also recommend that you check out the whole series. Each book is engaging while each page flows smoothly resulting is a steady-paced, highly enjoyable read. Not to mention the sigh-worthy HEA.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. :)

Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside was a cute holiday read that works well as a standalone despite being the eighth book in a series.

Wearing a too tight costume isn’t high up on Paige MacGregor’s list of things she’d like to be doing, but when you need a job you accept these things. One thing Paige doesn’t have to do though is listen to the cowboy trying to charm his way into the venue where she works early. So Paige does her job and throws the man out only to find out he’s a hot shot country western star set to perform at the very charity concert she’s working. Cash Colton is used to getting his way and when Paige isn’t swayed by his charms, he’s determined to change her mind and convince her he’s the perfect holiday distraction.

Paige hasn’t had an easy time in life after she was recently conned out of everything she owned. That experience left her jaded where men are concerned which while I found that understandable, Paige seemed to want to blame others for one person’s actions. Now Paige is just trying to put her life back together and is running herself ragged as a result. The one bright spot in her life is her grandmother and I found their scenes together to be very sweet.

Cash has always wanted to be a country western singer, in large part because that was his late mother’s wish for him and he feels the need to honor her memory. Recently Cash has been struggling with writing music and his band has suffered as a result. Cash also lost his girlfriend to a bandmate which strained things even further. While Cash is generally an easy going person, he’s a fairly reserved man when it comes to his emotions. I definitely found myself getting frustrated with him at times.

Paige and Cash have quite different outlooks on life which led to a few interesting moments between the two. Paige is a realist while Cash is much more of a go with the flow type of person. One aspect I didn’t love in their relationship was how Cash viewed Paige as his muse. At times he seemed to go on and on about how she was the source of his music and I just never connected with that. Also there was a scene where Cash saw Paige through a window while she was dancing around in a state of undress and I didn’t like how it was handled.

Overall while I enjoyed Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside for it’s charming small town setting, I didn’t love it due to my issues with Cash and Paige. The side characters are where this book really shined in my opinion and are what has me interested in reading more of the series in the future.

O My! O Dear! I am speechless! If winning a heart of a woman could make that much trouble and action than I better think of it. Well no hard feeling of course I am making a joke here. Anyway in one word it was – Breathtaking…

Who on the earth would know that this book turned out to be like this. Honestly I didn’t expect that either. So unexpected for me. Though it is my first read of Lori Wilde and that series. It’s the no. 8 book of Twilight, Texas. At first when choose to read it I thought well let see it. I was not taking it seriously but picked it up for only reading purpose not expecting any higher fact from it. But in the end it prove wrong and I am grateful for that. I am really so happy from nowhere all of a sudden in a sudden time I picked it up and finally finished it…

I will say that from the beginning I found it slow reading. But after few chapters gradually the story opened it up by itself. I just can’t help but read it. Though it took some tines for me to finish as I in the mean time also reading some other book. Anyway back to that book the story was utterly perfect. But I have some question that bothering me very much. In a way I was upset to read those event while it happened. It was about Cash of course. But let start with Paige first…

Paige MacGregor –
Ah! That girl. I just can’t believe her. Don’t get me wrong. It was impossible not to be fascinated toward her. She was so stubborn (in a positive manner), she know very well that how to stand on her ground by herself. She did learn from her past life, she’s got that self respect that only can uniquely mark her character. She is something special. There’s no doubt about it. Hell I don’t know if I found a girl like her I doubt I can held her. Well, Never mind. But yes I was so happy when she met that dashing, handsome celebrity who was famous country singer, that man Cash Colton. Incredible to read so I say…

Cash Colton –
Reality is so cruel. We all know it. But we only feel it when we actually face it. To Cash and Paige’s case that is what exactly happen. Cash Colton the famous singer who recently been cheated by her girlfriend who in way such bi**h (pardon my language) suddenly found himself in a countryside of twilight, texas. It was going normally for him until he laid his eyes on Paige. It was then the world began change for him and for Paige too. What I can I say the story just began after that. I like the way the story developed between them. Though they fall in love with each other in less than 2 weeks but what I see with it was real feeling between them. The kind of feeling you can only find when you in your all of a sudden meet someone special that you never know. It’s like a magic. It can happen to you or not. It depends obviously. Well now that ex girlfriend Simone who cheated Cash with his band member (as Cash had that music band of him). I don’t get the fact while Cash lost his guitar that he got from her mom which later stolen and then when Simone give it back to him Cash didn’t react at all. I mean seriously? He should get mad with her. & then after that the incident between them which took part in the doorway of the houseboat. Why on earth Simone had to do it and why on earth Cash didn’t move away so that it could never happen. Cash should’ve know whenever it is the name Simone he should be aware about other thing too. Those cameraman, paparazzi etc. It make me confused in there. Anyway apart from that this book is perfect from every angle. I normally prefer Nicholas Sparks’s novel when it come about romance genre book. But this book I have to admit in romance genre fulfill total enthusiasm. I loved it. Another Twilight, Texas read? You got it…

Lori Wilde – Love you…

Cowboy It’s Cold Outside is the fourth Twilight Texas book I’ve read by author Lori Wilde centered around people falling in love at Christmas time in the small Texas town of Twilight. While each couple faces their own challenges in finding their H.E.A. the good people of Twilight full of kindness and Christmas cheer and good intentions remains consistent.
Paige McGregor is our hard luck heroine in this story. The author chose to make her Paige character a physical everywoman. When we meet her she’s squeezing into two spanzs to fit into her sexy Christmas elf costume for one of her part time jobs working as an usher for Emma Cheek at the Twilight Playhouse and swearing she needs to layoff the Christmas cookies. She’s described as cute, adorable and curvy (which is the polite way of saying she's a little chubby like many real women). She’s been swindled and left completely penniless by her first love who turned out to be a con man that stole not only her savings and her car and all her worldly possessions along with her virginity, but also her identity running up thousands of dollars in credit card debt in her name. She’s ashamed of being so gullible and reduced to living on her uncle’s houseboat on Lake Twilight while working three minimum wage jobs just to put food on her table. She’s constantly hounded by unscrupulous debt collectors to repay debts she didn’t make. After years of being her father’s caretaker he has passed and she has a strained relationship with her mother who now lives in Denver, so she moves to Twilight home of her uncle who owns Froggy’s, her cousin Flynn and her Grammie whom she is devoted to. Everyone in Twilight loves Paige and is very protective of her. They don’t hesitate to tell us how special she is. And I agree, Paige is special. She’s caring and generous to a fault. She's witty and funny. She refuses to give in to despair for her misfortunes, determined to work her way to a better life no matter how difficult without asking for anyone’s help. My only issue with the whole “Paige is special” deal is that so is everyone around her that is saying it. Seriously with only a few exceptions the little Texas town of Twilight is populated with very special caring, giving people. To me Paige fits in but she doesn’t stand out in that regard.
Our hero is Cash Colton. Cash is a famous country singer trying to recover from his woman and member of his band Simone leaving him for his best friend and the band’s drummer Snake, breaking up the band. Cash is recently returned from an extended pilgrimage to South America to try and find his music mojo and get over the creative block that has set in since his band imploded. Cash arrives in Twilight at the request of long-time friend Emma to do a benefit concert. Cash has plenty of his own emotional baggage courtesy of his late mother. One look at Paige and Cash’s writer’s block is over as he hears symphonies in his head. Ms. Wilde is big on insta-love so once her heroine and hero gaze into each other’s eyes it’s only a matter of time before their futile attempts to resist the attraction are laid to rest.
While I loved so many of the characters in this story there were a few I’ve got very mixed feelings about. There’s the woman who runs the nursery school Paige works at for minimum wage who practically blackmails Paige into asking Cash to perform at her school reminding her she gave Paige a job when nobody else would (not that I have any clue why nobody else would hire the plucky Paige?). She even suggests Paige offer or withhold sex from Colt to persuade him. Some friend! Then there’s Simone and Snake. I actually started to like Simone but then she and Snake and Cash’s manager Deet show they’re more interested in how Cash can help them than how they can help Cash. Losers!
If you’ve ever read a Lori Wilde book you know she’s fond of flowery over the top prose. I’m sure many of the women readers find it extremely romantic. In this story, especially when Paige and Cash come together for the first time Wilde just explodes with musical analogies to describe their coming together not only physically but spiritually. I.M.H.O. sometimes less is more. I think appropriately this being a Christmas romance I don’t recall one use of a four letter word in this story and while there are a couple of sex scenes I think they’d get a PG rating from most romance story readers. No surprise after a bumpy and interesting ride overcoming their own fears of true intimacy our two love birds find their H.E.A. My only complaint is that in her epilogue we never hear how Cash’s career is going or how he and Paige managed to combined their different lives to get their H.E.A.

I've read a couple of books from this series and really enjoyed them. This one really caught my eye, a country singer, Christmas and a small town- perfect!

Cash Colton is a famous country singer who has had a bit of a meltdown recently, his band broke up, his girlfriend dumped him for a bandmate and his song writing ability disappeared. So he took off and has spent nearly the last year in South America. He's in Twilight to help out his best friend, Emma, and her fundraising music show.

Whilst there he bumps into Paige and all of a sudden music fills his head and he wants to write again. Paige has been badly burnt by a conman who robbed her of everything so isn't very trusting and resists him, never believing a star like him could be interested in her. Of course Cash doesn't give up and things progress and Paige eventually gives in and starts seeing Cash, agreeing to a short fling while he's in town. Of course 'short flings' don't work and they both fall hard for each other.

There are a few hiccups along the way of course, but they get there in the end. I really liked both characters, and the town of Twilight. This was a really lovely, charming holiday story.

This review was copied from my romance novel review blog: www.romanticallyinclinedreviews.blogs...

I haven’t really felt much in the Christmas-y spirit lately, so I thought that Lori Wilde’s Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside in red and gold with the wreath on the cover might be just what I needed. In a little disappointing turn of events I totally forgot, until this moment, that I’d thought the book was going to be holiday themed. Other than taking place during the Christmas season, there wasn’t much to remind me that I’d originally sought out the novel to be immersed in snow, Santa, and singing Christmas Carols. Not that this wasn’t a delightful novel… it just wasn’t the winter wonderland I’d expected it to be.

If you can believe it, in my twelve years as a romance reader I’ve never read a Lori Wilde novel. I have the hardest time finding new authors to enjoy (I’m picky and super judgmental), but being an Avon Addict has really created a wonderful opportunity to discover some fantastic new books/series/authors, etc. I’m blessed, truly!

I have found that I really enjoy Lori Wilde’s writing style and characters. I have no doubt that this book was a member of a family (there seemed to be an understanding that I would know who certain characters were), but I liked those characters that I was able to meet. I felt that her writing style came across very natural and not at all flowery and romantic like some of the novels I’ve read lately.

Paige was a down-to-earth, charming woman who was average without being boring. She was so incredibly relatable that a few times I found myself wishing that she was a friend of mine. There was nothing outright spectacular about Paige, but by the end of the novel I was absolutely convinced that she deserved the sun, the moon, and stars—and most importantly a break in life.

Cash was your typical attractive, too cock for his own good superstar with a troubled childhood and difficulty expressing his emotions. He should have come across as an overdone trope, but honestly I enjoyed reading about his troubles, his faults, and his dreams for his future. I wanted to know more about him and, eventually, I wanted to see him happy with Paige (though it took some time for me to trust him).

I think that anyone looking for a light read this holiday season would be pleased with their choice should they pick up Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside. The drama was to a minimum and the sarcastic, witty remarks were at a maximum.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the eighth book in the series, but I have to admit it is the first that I have read - something I plan on remedying soon. I am sure that I must have missed some of the nuance in other relationships and dynamics in Twilight, but there were little pointers which made everything clear enough.

I loved being in Twilight, and enjoyed both Cash and Paige. She was a wonderfully positive person, even though she was dealing with the terrible con that had been perpetrated on her. Cash was somewhat more cynical, after a nasty breakup - but then Paige changes everything ... brilliant storyline

Throw in Christmas, some steamy passionate encounters and a huge misunderstanding, and this book really delivers on all the levels to delight a romance reader. I loved the musical theme, and other than the two leads, I have to say that Grammie was my favourite character. Hence I know I am going to have to go back and discover all that Twilight has to offer in previous books.

There is one word to describe Cowboy, it's Cold Outside. It's the word Cash Colton never used. Precious, precious, precious! Lori Wilde created two awe inspiring characters with Cash Colton and Paige MacGregor in this captivating book that I simply couldn't put down. I read it in 2 days and wish there were a real Twilight, Texas for me to visit! Paige and Cash's story is one of perfected chemistry that you can actually feel in your bones. If you are new to Lori's books, start here with Cowboy, it's Cold Outside, and then go back and get the rest of the Twilight, Texas series!

Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside is just the holiday romance I was hoping to read this season!

Cash is the kind of cowboy I can get behind (haha, behind pun intended!), with his tight faded jeans and cowboy boots.

“The guy was a uterus magnet who turned normal, rational women into blithering idiots.”

He’s trying to be anonymous, ditching his trademark beard and hat, but that doesn’t really work, even in the small town of Twilight. His life is a literal county song; one he couldn’t have written any better. As a musician, he’s used to the fans and paparazzi following him everywhere. But after the breakup of his band, he’s really looking to avoid all of the notoriety. For me, Cash’s character feels fleshed out and real. I kept picturing Garth Brooks as Cash. I have no idea why, other than that he’s really the only county singer that I could think of! I especially appreciate how Cash’s character evolves throughout the novel. By the end, he stands up for his convictions, making difficult decisions that have real impact on his life.

Paige, on the other hand, is not really a character I would want to be friends with. She is a major people-pleaser, seriously lacking in self confidence, working three jobs to get by, trying to clean up the mess that is her life.

“Don’t let her tough act fool you. She’s all soft and squishy on the inside.”

While reading the novel, I wanted to shake some sense into Paige due to her lack of self confidence. She doesn’t necessarily let people walk all over her, standing up for herself when it’s necessary. But most of the time, she has a real difficult time saying no and does’t really fight for what she wants. By the end, she has found her confidence and redeems herself. For most of the novel, I found Cash’s story line much more interesting than Paige’s.

Reader beware: Cash and Paige are a love at first sight couple. From their initial meeting, the sparks are flying between these two. The romantic scenes are more behind closed doors, but it was during these scenes that the characters really get to know each other personally. To me, this emotional connection is much more intimate than reading sex scenes. Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside follows the typical romance patterns. But that’s why I read romance, for the happily ever after.

The witty banter between the characters is quite enjoyable. Ms. Wilde does an excellent job with the dialog in the novel. Often times, it is quite hilarious! I especially reveled in the non-cursing curse words. Cash uses McDang instead of something more offensive. I’ve always believed that there are a lot of words in the dictionary and curse words are not necessary.

I appreciated the musical terms and definitions that headed each chapter. This really serves to tie Cash’s love of music into the story. Additionally, the chapter headers give the reader a sense of what will happen in the book without giving away the story. For example,

"Finale: Movement or passage that concludes the musical composition."

is the last chapter header.

I enjoyed Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside a lot. With all of the characters in the novel, I didn’t even realize this was the 8th book in the series. I can easily see myself reading the other books in this series. And I look forward to doing so.

Having read Cowboy, It's Cold Outside; I have found out that Lori Wilde's books just keep getting better and better! This book does not disappoint the reader; in fact, it inspires the reader! This story is about Paige MacGregor and Cash Colton. Cash is a famous country western star who has taken a break from singing and performing for the last year. He is trying to sort his life out and has agreed to help out a friend. While helping out this friend; he meets Paige MacGregor! She intrigues him because she is not impressed with who he is. She inspires his music and he is drawn to her but she is not an easy woman to be drawn into a romantic relationship. She has been hurt before and her heart is still wary of finding another chance to love again. Cash believes that he is not marriage material due to his past family and romantic experiences. Over coming many obstacles and lessons in life and love; they find that true love has a way of bringing this couple together. Set in Twilight, Texas; Christmas time has a magical way of blending this romantic experience for this couple and the reader. The reader feels like they are actually escaping into the magical world of Lori's books! The reader will love this book and after reading this book; will be anxious to read Lori's future books!

Even as I write this review I keep playing the song Baby, It's cold outside! Really puts me in the holiday spirit. Of course when I read this it was 88 degrees out so...

Unfortunately I missed this one last year and forgot to read it. But with the next book in the series, The Christmas Key coming out on October 23rd I figured I better get going. And what a stroke was it that I that it was a wonderful title and we have a challenge about a title?

I worked out perfectly!

Lori Wilde is a favorite of mine so I was happy to sit down and get into Cowboy, it's Cold Outside. Believe me when I said not only was the song playing in my head as I read the book I kept call the book by the song title.

Crazy! Perfect cleaver title!

I really enjoyed both Paige and Cash. I felt for him. He didn't have the greatest roll model in a parent but lets be honest even the worse parent is a parent that we love. Just happens that way. Might now like them, but love is different. As his mom might not be terrible but she wouldn't have won a prize either.

Poor, poor Paige. Talk about bad luck, she had plenty. She really has bad taste in men, Cash not included. What kind of romance would this be if he sucked. She's a giver and has given everything she has with no a lot of return.

Throughout the story I felt bad for her. Her past has made it that she was having trouble seeing or believing in a future. They do say Christmas is the time for miracles. If anyone needs one it's Paige.

I do believe you'll enjoy this fun, romantic story with a ton of holiday cheer. I know I did. The good part is that the weather is slightly more normal for us so when I read The Christmas Key it will probably be in the mid 60's. Closer to winter weather.

Cowboy, It's Cold Outside is cute, heartwarming story set around the Christmas holiday. This story is filled with love, laughs, a few insecurities and cute dog that adds to the laughs. Paige is trying to rebuild her life after being the victim of a conman that took everything from her. She is determined to never fall for a pretty face again. Cash is a popular country-western singer who has also had a rotten string of events happen. His girlfriend left him for his bestfriend, his band broke up and his favorite guitar has been taken. He doesn't believe in love and commitment but when he sees Paige, he finds inspiration for his song writing and a whole lot more. Of course, fate and matchmaking friends have a different plan for them.

I was lucky enough to win this book from the publisher in a Goodreads contest but the review is my own thoughts and feelings.

Good read

He's famous and she's a Santa's helper during a season that he doesn't celebrate. He's lost his music making mojo until he meets her and he swears she is his muse. And then they fall in love. But will it last? Highly recommend

2.75 stars. Little too mushy with symbolism of music. While I generally enjoy Lori Wilde's book this was wasn't quite on the same level as her other books The main characters quick way they fell in love was just not too believable but still fun read
