The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💙🤎🖤💜 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌎 Character development: 😠😘🤓😍 Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Solo Narration
The heroine:Cerise - she practically raised her sister Casey, and she was determined to save her and her sister from their “father” Miles, who has been looking at Casey too intently lately and Cerise was never going to let him get to her. Cerise was systematically stealing from their neighbors in order to gather enough money to make their escape from the abuse they suffered. When they were out early one morning as Miles slept off a night of drinking, they found a house with a tunnel to another house and Cerise felt she had to check it out and the man sleeping inside.
The Hero:Beckett - wolf shifter and best friend to Crew from Shifter’s Echo, he also was a member of the Serenity police department. Beckett suffered from nightmares of his brothers death for years and one night while having a nightmare, he is calmed by the girl who snuck into his home. After waking up to see her, she told him to go back to sleep and he did, forgetting he ever saw her.
The Story: Like in the prior books, Cerise is a one true mate, which is a half human, half angel who is capable of mating a shifter and producing young. Each of the one true mates have a different power and has a talisman, a necklace given to them by their “father”. Though Cerise and Casey have been held captive by Miles for years, they had rarely left the farmhouse where they live and are exceptionally naïve when it comes to men. Cerise only knows not to trust them.
The story was told in dual points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Michael Pauley like the first three books in the series. He has gotten better with each books and I am really enjoying his narration by this point. The stories have also gotten increasingly more interesting as the series goes on. The supporting characters are all terrific and the couples from each previous book has made reappearances in each book as the series goes along.
I liked both characters in this book as well as their back stories. I also can’t wait for some of the books of other characters, especially Trent and Troy, the Burbank twins who have been stuck in wolf form since birth, but who can think and communicate via their minds like the men they are inside. Mac is also a great character and his story should be great. He gives some good comic relief. This book also has a new villain, a Shiften named Grey who was strong and was working for Khain and against the rest of the Shiften.
This is book 4 in Lisa Ladew’s One True Mate series. While each book covers a couple’s romantic arc – there is a big (and several secondary) mystery/suspense storyline running through the series. In that aspect these don’t really stand alone and need to be read in order starting with Shifter’s Sacrifice. Reviews may contain spoilers to earlier books.
I’m over here pining for Mack’s book and BOOM! I’m absolutely floored by how much I love Beckett and Cerise’s story. It’s a long road for these two and unlike the previous ones it’s not obvious that they’re fated mates.
Cerise & her little sister Kaci have had a horrible home life. I think Ladew did a great job explaining how sheltered and abused they were without going too far. I loved that even though they were semi-clueless about the world at large, they were both fierce and determined. They don’t trust easy outside of each other.
Beckett’s relationship with Cerise - and Kaci - starts out with heavy bodyguard vibes (which I lurrrvveedd). He has to protect them while they are keeping HUGE secrets. On the run. Being hunted. Barely escaping a few times, plus a bigger battle. Whew the pacing on the second half of this one was perfection.
I loved the ending and their epiloguish chapter. The very end, of course, teases Mack’s book. There’s now more than one nemesis and with each added One True Mate more plans for the future.
Narration: Long series so my thoughts on Michael Pauley will likely get repetitive. He’s fantastic with all the voices, accents, and emotions. Lots of characters and he keeps them consistent from book to book. Great listen.
Shifter's Innocent is the fourth book in the paranormal series One True Mate by Lisa Ladew, and what a book it is.
I love this series, and the books are getting better and better. Lisa's imagination knows no bounds.
Beckett is feeling left behind as he sees his best friend with his One True Mate. Cerise has been forced to live a life of horror and heartache. Now Beckett finds himself with Cerise, on the run and fighting for their lives.
Make sure to start at the beginning of the series, or you are missing out on all that goodness!
This one was just freaking adorable I don't care what you say.
However, I was confused as hell when I first started reading this. Like WHO THE HELL IS THIS!? Why are we in this place!? Who are these people!? WHY DO THEY MATTER!?
Took me about 40% before I really started to understand wtf was going on.
Well let me tell you, the girl was the next One-True-Mate. And damn did she and her little adopted sister have a shit life. Like WTF. I'm just glad that there was nothing outside parental abuse. So I'm so in love with that little girl who is as fierce as a MOTHER FUCKING DRAGON!
And that ending wrapped up perfectly in my opinion. YAY!
Now I just need to read the next one with Mac...... I can't wait to see the hell fire that bad boy is going to get. I hope she whoops his ass.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
All four of these books have been very exciting. Between Khain and Grey I would be hard pressed to tell you which one was more evil.
I really liked Beckett and Cerise but I was surprised they didn’t meet until about 25 or 30% of the book, but from that point on there wasn’t a time they weren’t together, along with Kasi. And, wow, what a life Cerise and Kasi had. There so-called parents that were also evil. This book was just filled with evil people and monsters.
Cerise could “push” into a person’s mind and have them do anything she wanted and that’s what she did to Beckett while she was in the hospital, telling him to take her handcuffs off, then help her go get Kasi at the Interim Home, where she was taken when they were arrested, then drive them from Serenity Illinois, where they all lived, to Las Vegas. She didn’t tell him until much later that they really need to go to Loma Linda, California. The bad guys did catch them in Nebraska, I think, but no harm came to anyone but the bad guys. Eventually, Beckett realized what Cerise was doing and fought the “push.”
Then Beckett (a wolf,) Mac (another wolf,) Bruin (a bear) and Graeme (a dragon) fought both Khain and Grey in Kasi’s parent’s house and they both got away, of course. Jeez, I’m getting so tired of all these books with the same bad guys that constantly get away. Three books would be plenty then move on. That’s my opinion.
There is explicit sex in this book and the F-bomb was used 36 times.
As to the narration: Michael Pauley was fantastic. His women’s voices were good and the men all had a voice of their own. His reading voice and emotions are fantastic.
This one tugged at the heartstrings, poor Cerise and Kaci. What a life they had had so far and it wasn't improving very fast either. Conspiracy to tear them apart and keep them from Beckett at all turns, Cerise not knowing anyone she can trust but determined to keep Kaci safe no matter what the cost to herself. Beckett himself struggling with his own past and the mystery of his mate. This is a race from start to finish and across the country. Fast pace throughout with knife edge sections that had my heart racing, a few characters to give me nightmares. But I love Beckett with his black socks, others may tease him for them but to me they sound adorable. Kaci comes across as very weak and easily distracted but her strength is there when it is needed most, Cerise so protective and she has been very much a mother despite not having had any mothering herself to learn by. She has abilities she doesn't understand or even really know how to use, just figuring it out as she goes along. She thinks they are using Beckett but he is just biding his time. I cant wait for more of these characters in further books, there is a sweetness about them despite all the horror and evil around. A lot of innocence but also a massive amount of determination and underlying strength that just draws you into loving these guys and needing more of them. I love how when time is short some of the others do what's needed and fast, the combination is what will win in the end.
Romance trope: shifter Series: One True Mate Length: 325 pages
Plot: Beckett has watched three of his coworkers -including his best friend - find their mates recently, and while he's happy for them, he's a little sad and lonely. But then he meets Cerise and her little sister. While he doesn't think she could be his one true mate, maybe she could? She's almost the right age and she certainly has some sort of power - why else would he feel compelled to do whatever she asks?
Commentary: While I hated Beckett's manwhore background, I love that he was fated to (and fell in love with) someone so innocent but that had as much power - maybe more - as he did. I adored the way he helped take care of Kaci.
Abused & possibly kidnapped victim Cerise & Wolf Shifter Cop Beckett, meet when the last straw comes when, she & her kidnapped younger 'sister' Lemmon. I tell you this as of yet had been pretty deep emotional sequences in The One True Mate Series. But it's another great HEA story where Lemmon I'd able to go back to her most loving home, to the patents who've kept on looking for her. god how I loved the comically ending of it, Cerisse & Beckett 'play up to her powers of physical control' 😂😂😂
Another good one in the series! This one was more of a slow burn romance. There is more of a focus on the story of the heroine in the beginning and middle, which is still enjoyable. It was perfect for Beckett who need something different in his life. Make sure you read the other books in order before this one. This is one series I do not recommend reading out of order.
LI have to say I loved Beckett. He is such an amazing character. He has so many layers. I loved that he did not follow the damaged formula. He knew his faults while understanding that he deserved happiness. He thought of others rather than himself.
Michael Pauley is such an amazing narrator. I first listened to him when he narrated for Michelle Howard. When I found him I fell in love with his voice. He knows how to bring the story alive. Out of all the audiobooks I have listened to him there has never been a bad story. When I find out Michael Pauley eill be narrating I get excited becuase I know it will be great.
Lisa Ladew is such an amazing author. I am so happy I gave her books a chance. I advise anyone who is hesitant about reading anything from her to jump in head first. You will not be disappointed.
Loved this book so much. I love how the girls escaped from the abuse just in time. Each book in this series just gets better and better. Now I have to wait for the next book. Hope it is done soon.
I DO NOT consider this to be a stand-alone read, as there are reoccurring characters, overlapping / consecutive timelines and overarching themes. For maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers, I highly recommend these be read in series order.
⛔️ If you have not read the previous stories in the series, then the following may contain spoilers.
Contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, semi-steamy adult intimate scenes with light dominance and submission, and violence such as kidnapping / abduction; depression, anxiety, and suicide; rape; murder; torture; assault; betrayal; evil vs good; mental, physical and sexual child abuse, etc.
There are a few grammatical issues, mainly incorrect, extra, or missing words. I have started mentioning these for readers like myself that visualize the story as it is read, since errors disrupt it.
Each story has contained quite a few POVs even though it focuses on a central H/h. The world building is mainly away from Serenity, Illinois, but it does expand upon their ever growing compound and provides a few updates on the previous couples.
I rated this 4 1/2 stars because I still had a couple of questions. For instance, why did Beckett think that Cerise could be there to kill him? What exactly did “Blank” do to Beckett when he was younger? How did Beckett get the large scar on his head? These weren’t huge themes in the story, but they were significant enough that I wanted to know and it bugged me when I didn’t find a reason or explanation.
Here is a high level overview of how it begins:
Cerise is Beckett’s One True Mate (OTM). Her parents are alcoholics, very abusive and controlling of her and Kaci, whom Cerise considers a sister, even though they are not blood relation. Kaci was stolen from her family when she was around 2 years old. Cerise has tried to protect her as much as possible, but she is still undersized because of the emotional and physical trauma.
Cerise has tried to take her back to her parents a few times in California, but every time the police found her before she could get her there, and none of them believed her when she told them what had happened. So over the past couple of a years they have been breaking into local houses and stealing money. Cerise is keeping a list so that in the future she can pay them back. She figures they almost have enough to get Kaci back to California.
They enter a house that Cerise has been trying to watch and learn the schedule of the guy that lives there, but it has been hard since they can only get away when her father is passed out. When Cerise enters through the basement window, she smells the most wonderful scent and it tempts her to follow it. She tries to find the money, but there is none, and the scent finally gets to her and she must find where it leads.
It led to a man sleeping in a room and he was having some type of nightmare. She was drawn toward him and couldn’t resist touching him. This seemed to help him, but he did kinda rouse awake some. He asked her if she was there to kill him. Cerise told him to go back to sleep and forget that she was ever there and he did!
Beckett had been told by his best friend Crew that he had already met his OTM. He doesn’t think Crew is right. From everything he has heard, it should about knock him on his butt when they first meet and/or touch … and he just hasn’t felt anything like that with anyone or he would remember.
Cerise and Kaci have determined they are ready to make their escape the next morning. They have it all planned out, so when Kaci falls asleep, Cerise takes the opportunity of one last ride and goes to the man’s house that smelled so wonderful. He is there again and he is asleep. She again can’t resist approaching him and he smells like alcohol. Despite not having a single good memory of any male drinking, she gives him a kiss and leaves when she notices the sun coming up … what if her dad wakes up and finds her gone, or gets to Kaci without Cerise there to protect her?
When she gets back to their trailer, not only is her dad awake, but she senses Kaci and him are in his bedroom … Cerise must get in there before she is traumatized any more …
Meanwhile, Beckett wakes up and is hungover. Then he smells something divine, like licorice and sugar. Then he realizes that it is her! His OTM was in his house and she kissed him!! He must see if he can follow her … even though the scent trail Is light, it brings him to a trailer and what he finds it bad.
I love Cerise and Beckett story....💖 I hope the author doesn't mind me using a little bit of her highlight form her book..💖💜💖 Hope you Enjoy this amazing book!!!💖💓💖📚
She nodded but he was already kissing her again, pinning her to the wall with his big body. He picked her up again, then flung her on the bed. She laughed as she bounced, then flipped over to her hands and knees. As long as they were trying new things… A thick growling filled the air and she flattened herself reflexively, looking over her shoulder. Beckett’s lips were lifted and his canines showed, looking like fangs, his eyes locked on her backside. She flipped over to face him. He shook himself and seemed to come to his senses. He flung his cap onto the floor behind him and rubbed a hand over his short-cropped hair. “Shit, I gotta tell you something. I-ah-there’s a thing we wolven do, and when you are on your hands and knees like that I can’t help but want to do it.” Cerise nibbled her lip, waiting to hear what it was. He rubbed his head again. “It’s called claiming, and it’s where I bite you.” He touched the back of her shoulder, where it met her neck. “Right here.” He dropped to his knees, placing his hands on her legs and staring up at her, his face completely open and vulnerable. “What does it mean?” she asked. “Everything,” he said. “Once I do that, we won’t ever separate. It’s like marriage, but there is no divorce.” She nibbled her lip. “Do you want to?” He breathed out, hard. “So much. I ache to, Cerise, but I don’t want to push you if you aren’t ready. You’re new at this, it’s a bit vio-” She held a finger to his lips, shushing him. She trusted him implicitly. Slowly, she pushed herself back up onto the bed, then turned over, practically wiggling her ass at him. His growling started at once and she bloomed for him, surprised at how swollen her sex got, and how fast. He grasped her hips, pulling her toward him, his fingers digging into her skin. He didn’t say a word, seemed unable to speak, but then he thrust violently and she cried out at the pleasure/pain of it. She’d wanted rough, and oh, she did like it. He thrust wildly, and she almost forgot about the bite, until he fell upon her, so close she could smell him. His teeth found her shoulder and pain erupted there, but then pleasure did, too, filling her body, consuming her from her core outward. She threw back her head and screamed with it as all pain was driven from her. All the pain from her entire sad life. Gone. *** Beckett claimed his mate, finally, his past falling away, every mistake he’d made in his life, every time he’d second-guessed himself or those around him. Now was his time, and he was doing everything right. His teeth violated her skin and his cock violated her body, but exactly how it was supposed to be. From her back, gossamer wings of brilliant purple light and feathers erupted, wrapping them completely, lifting them from the bed, as she called out his name and screamed out her pleasure. Beckett thrust one last time, hard, hard enough to please her, and his own orgasm rocketed out of him, filling his mate, claiming her thoroughly. He gently pulled his teeth out of her flesh, as her wings rocked them one last time, then set them down as lightly as a whisper floating on the breeze. His bite mark began to heal over at once, leaving a staggered scar behind. She dropped to the bed, and he went with her, disentangling himself from her, but pulling her close to him. She snuggled into his arms. “I love you,” she said. He grinned. He knew she did. He was a loveable male. Her male.
Oh my gosh this was freaking AWESOME 👏. I know exactly what to expect with this author. Her characters are absolutely spectacular new and old ones. This book is so different from the other books. Yes we get everything in this book; a book with bears 🐻, wolves 🐺, dragons 🐉 and now an angel 😇. Not to mention all the action, adventure, mystery, murder, survival, suspense, loyalty, love, lust, fear, hate, and betrayal. And oh my gosh the hero and heroine strong and freaking fantastic. I was blown away by the storyline. What a great read. I felt like I was on a real journey with Cerise and Beckett.
Cerise Pekin has lived in an abusive situation for a long time. She was twenty five but she told Beckett twenty three because she didn't trust him in the beginning. I don't think the book ever said if she, like Kaci, was abducted from their homes. She remembers when Kaci was kidnapped from her home, taken as a toddler. They were never accepted as the children of a pair of evil and drunk people. They abused, neglected and sometimes broke bones. Also they (Cerise and Kaci) lived with restrictions so imaginable. Cerise was always planning to escape with Kaci. They're both are survivors and fighters. Her power was to "Push" into people mind. To make people do things she wanted them to do.
Beckett Oswego was a wolf Shifter and a police officer 👮 lost in his work shielding him from his past. He was always looking over his shoulder because of the way his father and brother were taken from him. I loved the buildup to their first kiss 😘 it was worth the wait. I knew when Beckett found his OTM it was going to be amazing and it was so freaking amazing. But when he found Cerise it was better than I thought. Beckett was told by his best friend Crew that he had found his OTM but he couldn't remember. But one morning he woke up to her smell. Cerise had been in his house. And the journey begins with him trying to find Cerise and to save her and Kaci.
The secondary characters and old characters from previous books made Cerise and Beckett's journey incredible. I loved the bromance between Mac and Bruin. They were totally hilarious 😂. It was totally awesome how his pack mates showed up to California at Kaci house to save the day. This was an emotional read with lots of action and danger.
Mac and Bruin:
Light erupted from the top of the motel directly above Beckett’s room, shooting into the sky, so bright they both had to shield their eyes. “Fuck,” Mac swore. “Took him long enough. All these fuckers are slow as shit. When I meet my one true mate, I’ma hit that the first night.” Bruin bobbed his head. “Hit her with what, your Vienna sausage dick?”
Mac shook his head. “Yeah dude, just cuz I ain’t a bear don’t mean I got a small dick.” Bruin snorted his bear snort, then opened his door and unfolded his body from the little car. “We’re gonna be here for a while. I’m getting a room.” He flipped Mac the bird, then took off at a run, calling over his shoulder, “Last one in the pool is a brokeback bee.” Mac flung open his door and yelled after him. “What the fuck is a brokeback bee?” Bruin slowed to a walk and turned to face him, his face deadly serious. “A bee with excellent taste in independent films.” He flipped around to face front and loped inside. Mac shook his head slowly. “Bears are weird as shit,” he said, not without affection, then hauled himself out of the rental car. He could use a few days off, he guessed. Maybe meet some chicks.
Beckett "Beck" Oswego has never really got over the death of his father and brother. He has gained a new family in his team but he feels there is something missing.
Cerise has realised that now is the time to get away from her smarmy "father". She doesn't even think he is really her father, after all she was there when they stole her sister Kaci "Lemon" from another family! He has been making sexual overtures to Lemon and Cerise will not allow her to be harmed by him, not until she takes her last breath! She has been visiting a nearby house and found some books and other knick knacks. But one day she finds the owner of the house fast asleep! She manages to "push" him back to sleep but if she thinks that's the end of it she is soooo wrong!
After breaking out of jail and abducting her sister from the home she had been out in, Cerise is rescued by Beck who takes them across country to try and reunite Lemon with her family. On the way Cerise learns that not all men are like her father and that Beck is everything she could want in a partner but he is keeping a big, hairy secret from her!
There are some great family moments with the crew and their mates and you can just guess how protective the boys will get as their little "family" starts to expand! I loved Cerise, she was so naive and innocent she could have across as empty headed but she is clearly intelligent and has managed to educate herself to a certain degree. Lemon is just cuteness personified. Beck is..well Beck. Growly, sweet, passionate..everything you want in a mate!
This series is so varied and fast paced. Buckle up my friend's for a wonderful ride. If you lack imagination LISA LADEW will catch you off guard and that is a promise. I just can't thank you enough Lisa for the wonderful day of escapism you provided for me today. You are such a talented author.
As usual, I provide no spoilers. The series is so fun, I don't even read the book description. I want to be surprised by everything. Now that is when you know for sure you trust an author to bring it home!
I 100% recommend every book in the series. I will be one of your beta reader's anytime. At the very least, an ARC reader. I just found out you have other series I can dive into while I wait for more book's in this series. I am so happy I have a few more book's to go before the waiting starts!! I am already dreading the thought of finishing the next few book too quickly. But they are addictive.
This series must be read in the order they are written. I can't imagine skipping one book. I would have missed out on the delightful characters. You will fall in love with secondary characters too. I promise. Character development is supremely dripped out. You will learn to love the way Lisa slowly uncovers all aspects of each character. Bravo, keep them coming or I might have to kidnap you and make you write under duress!
I’ll admit - I wasn’t really liking this entry in the series up to the 40% mark (give or take), and I wasn’t liking Beckett much, either, due to his internal dialogue voice. He was different from how I saw him in the earlier books. And I was leery of a total innocent like Cerise gettin’ down with someone as worldly and crude as Beckett could apparently be. It took some time for them to actually *meet*.
...honestly, the virgin meets experienced player trope is not my favorite, and as the series goes on, one of its premises has not been explored - that the OTM is *not* destined for one specific mate but can have sex with others or have relationships with others. So, what happened to it? The women aren’t supposed to be nailed down to one shiften until they actually mate. I’m wondering why Khain, the demon, didn’t sniff out Cerise as a potential mate, and why Grey didn’t tell him about her.
However, this is one installment in a growing series (only half-way done according to the author!) so perhaps other OTMs won’t be virgins nor “pure” by their own choice. And the guy has to actually work for her choice in *him* instead of letting their sexual attraction make it for them.
I enjoyed this good ol’ boy as the MMC. There's a simplicity and straightforwardness to him that I found relaxing. It wasn't as clear to me how her ability matched his like the last two MFCs but they were still a fun couple.
I was annoyed by the “baby killing” languaging going on. There's not even much discussion about the health of the mother, or what needs to be done to get her back to consciousness. Instead the focus is on the baby (possibly an unwanted, nonconsensual pregnancy with a demon).
“She knew there was a chance she was making a huge mistake, one she might one day have to pay for, but in her mind, there was no other option. Family was family, and babies were precious, no matter what.”
Are they? I get that romances tend to be bonkers for babies as if that's all women are here for, but really, it's the women who are the most important people, not the babies. Plus, we don't care about the sister, why? Because she was mean? This could have been spoken about much more responsibly.
SOOO GOOD !! I was not expecting such series circumstances and issues. The author held back very little in making the abuse and danger clear to the reader. Yes, this story was darker than the others but significant in introducing yet another threat to the shifters. The issues actually added more credibility to the story. By bringing, real life type situations, into the character plot. It made the suspense a little more chilling. Yet our shifter hero, Crew, was a perfect protector. This story gives us more detail into the “One True Mates” and female 1/2 breed wolf shifters. I needed a few tissues with this one and my heart was often racing as the suspense and confrontations occurred. The action and story were so on point that the author could have left out the hot sex scene and this still would have been an intriguing, action adventure you wouldn’t want to miss. (This series is best read in order).
This is book 4 in a he series. Please read in order since it's about filling a prophecy and finding their mates/one true love. This is Brackett's story. It's different from the other 3 books. I liked this one more based on a connection to characters and story line. Overview. Breckett's is a wolf shifter. He was supposed to meet his mate already, but for some reason he can't remember her. Cerise lives in a very bad situation. She lives with a fake sister whom was taken from a family by her step parent. The step parents are mean drunks whom don't want kids. Cerise and her sister have been robbing houses to get cash to leave the bad family they live with. Cerise has powers over mind manipulation. But their plan fails and the girls get separated and Brackett has a draw to her to help them. It turns out better when he finds out she is his mate.
Again, loved it! This one definitely takes you on a different journey of adulthood/childhood upbringing. There is a lot of childhood trauma for Cerise and kaci to overcome, but I like how their lives intertwine and of course there is a happy ending. Although i love reading this series, it did hit me that the OTM are "made" for their particular mate and upon them coming together sexually it is stated that the woman feels completes, like this is what she was meant for. I feel it could have been stated better as they were ment for each other, not the woman meant for the man. And maybe that they felt complete being with their "mate" because of an emotional connection rather than, the woman was meant to bare young...it just feels a little 1950s to me in that aspect.
Beckett has definitely been one of my favorite members of the team since the first book but I liked him even more after his story which lets face it should be the point of his story. My favorite line" you here to kill me darlin'" now where that comes in you'll just have to read to find out. I do wish we had a bit more about his past but I think that will come out in later books like with the others. Cerise and Kaci always in survival mode come across Beckett not by chance and our journey begins. There are definitely some things that they have to overcome and a few surprises to keep you in your toes and some new developments that have me really excited to see where things are going to go.
This story was so beautifully crafted. I never would've even thought of this concept with the one true mates. So far all the girls have been good and had easy lives mostly but not Cerise. She is my all-time favorite mate but Kaci is my favorite character. She's a strong force to be reckoned with and I wish I had that much courage. That girl is the definition of fierce and she knows how to get things done. Lisa Ladew is an amazing author and can pull anyone into her stories and won't release them until everyones tale had been told. She makes you laugh and cry and wonder what would happen if it was you who was a one true mate. I think I'd be a pretty good candidate even though I don't make the cut
I feel in love with L.L.'s Heat series, and she just keeps getting better. OTM quickly became my favorite of her series, and addition gets ridiculously awesome as the story unfolds.
As always Ladew's books are well written, few to no errors. Loveable characters, and relatable in some way. I'm especially loving the bromance between Bruin and Mac. Excellent plot, suspense/thriller, that has you reading non-stop until you reach the end. Then you're feigning for the next addition. Mac's story is next!!!
If you haven't read from the beginning, and you want to give OTM 4 a chance, definitely start from the beginning. You won't regret it.
I liked the story and characters. I enjoyed the mix of action and romance. It keeps the story moving fast.
It really is heartbreaking to see the harsh lives the young woman and teenager led and you know they deserve happiness and to find their families. Her finding her mate and discovering her true heritage is a true blessing.
He has also suffered and will do anything to protect his mate. He really wants to protect her and her sister from danger and hurt those who harmed them. The trust is built over time and the author didn't rush it even if they are fated to be together.
Beckett thought he was dreaming when a young woman touched his forehead when he was dreaming. Cerise had to get away from her father with her sister Kaci. Becker had come to the hospital looking for her and she pushed him into helping her escape. I don't want to give away the plot only to tell you Beckett is not and also a good man. Kaci was stolen as an infant and cerise had tried to keep her safe. This is one of my favorite of this series but I think that if each one lol.
This one was heart wrenching, but in a good way. Oh the things that Beckett and Cerise had to deal with. These were some serious issues. I think that made it even better. I like how each set of heroes and heroines has strengths and difficulties to overcome. That just makes the story more real to me. Read these in order, but you will love where it takes you, if you like strong characters, difficulties to overcome, and some steamy scenes but not till closer to the end this time. You will understand why when you read this. Enjoy!
This is the fourth book in the One True Mate Series. If you have read the first three in the series, then I would strongly urge you to do so.
This series just keeps getting better. My heart broke for Cerise and Kaci - they're both survivors and fighters but the abuse these two suffered was unimaginable.
I adored Beckett - his true mate has gone through so much but he she isn't alone anymore because now she has him.
This was a fantastic yet emotional read with lots of action and danger.
