An exciting volume with asteroids/meteoroids, Pom Pom returns to the team, lots of excitement, a space station + telescope (with a funny name) to fix, we also get the POV of the scientists on Earth, and there is more. The ending was fab and exciting. And well, haha, those last pages made me laugh so much. I am happy that my library added books #3 and #4 to the mix! Wasn't in the mood to write a long review like I did for the other books. Too tired.
But sorry, Waffles, one thing happens that is bad and instead of just talking to your team... you just launch back to earth? I found that part so weird and out of nowhere. It just didn't make sense (well, I guess it was all for something, but really, couldn't you have thought of another way?). Plus, that one cat who constantly was shouting DOOM. Why are you even working there? -1 star for those things.

This series makes me so happy!
Pom Pom is back from her year on Mars and rejoining her team on the ISS, just in time for a mission to figure out what's wrong with the Hubba Bubba telescope. Naturally, things go awry, and Waffles makes a decision that breaks the team up again. AND THEN CATASTROPHE!
I will admit that it's all the cat puns that get me, and the sneaky little pop culture references, as well as little moments like Ozzie's reaction to the bad news. And on top of that, I love that there's still a sense of reality about this ridiculous world, like how Waffles deals with his misadventure. I can't wait for the next one!!!
Also can't wait to tell Amy that this one finally came in, since she saw it in my holds list when I was training her and found it hilarious that I was so excited about something called CatStronauts, ha!

This was cute but not my favorite of the series. It deals with one of the CatStronauts having a close call and dealing with the trauma to the point where he quits all together.
My favorite part was Waffles reading "Hairy Paw-ter."
Is it just me or is the "cursing" happening more often? (Not actual cursing but lots of "fish" and "carp" in for curse words. One point they said "Cut the carp" or something like that and at first glance I definitely read "cut the crap." Oh well. Just something I'm noticing.

Seriously! These books keep getting cuter! The CatStronaut program is under more pressure than ever as their hubba bubba telescope is broke and frequent meteor showers keep interrupting their communications. To make matters worse the president of the United States is breathing down their necks because it's an election year and he keeps blaming his polling numbers on all the crazy situations they're getting into up in space. Cute and amazing. Give me more!

I love cats and I’ve been looking at these graphic novels for a while now. The CatStronauts are just what they sound like, cats who are astronauts. Weird, yes but feasible in a kid-friendly world. I enjoyed all the subtle cat references, the friendships, the easy flow of this graphic novel, and their adventure.
In this mission, Pom Pom is finished helping colonize Mars and is now meeting up with his team on the Space Station. The team will now try to repair the Hubba Bubba Telescope. Sounds easy enough for the CatStronauts until transmission problems arise and they can’t talk to ground control. They discover that meteor showers are causing all the interference. The problems just continue for the team as they try to fix one problem after another, until they discover that if they don’t act quickly, destruction on a massive scale is in their future.
“What the fish is going on?!” These references were just part of the text, which made me smile as I read this book. References to the kitty box, tuna, kitties, etc., caught my attention, although there really weren’t a whole lot of them. I felt that they added to the charm of the book and to the characters, themselves.
This graphic novel had a good flow to it. There was enough action to keep me engaged and the illustrations were detailed and they complemented to the story. I’m often asked what would be a great graphic novel to give to a young child and I think this one would fit the bill. It’s a great child’s graphic novel for any level, I believe. I’m going to pick up other books in this series to see what these cats are up to.

Oh no, the Hubba Bubba Telescope is not working properly...what will we do? Send in the Catstronauts of course! Cats, space, re-launching a mothballed Space Shuttle to save the Earth from pending doom in the shape of a very large meteor... Yowza, this one keeps you on the edge of your seat... it was "pawesome!" oh, and cat puns, throughout, of course. If you're looking for something fun, look no further than this clever graphic novel series.

The CatStronauts must repair the Hubba Bubba Space Telescope, but asteroid showers are becoming more and more frequent making the work dangerous and difficult. Can they fix the telescope and find out why the asteroid showers are increasing without someone getting seriously hurt?
This starts off as a challenging space repair and then turns into a huge asteroid is about to hit the Earth story. One of the CatStronauts faces some serious mental trauma because of an asteroid shower to add to the excitement. And down on Earth the President is putting serious pressure on the space program leaders since it is an election year and he doesn't want to look bad. Basically, this has all the drama you'd expect in a major motion picture but is boiled down into a middle grade graphic novel featuring cats and manages to stay fun. Scifi excitement and cats, what more can you ask for? Keep the CatStronaut tales coming please. :)
Notes on content: No language issues. No sexual content. Some near misses with asteroids/meteorites but everyone ends up ok.

I started with book 3 of the CatStronauts series titled Space Station Situation which follows a team of cats in space. CATS. IN. SPACE. Is it any wonder that I started this series?! Picture a world where the entire population is made up of cats EVEN THE PRESIDENT (who is only concerned with his reelection I might add). In this installment, a meteor is headed toward earth and in order to track its progress and hopefully stop it our intrepid heroes must fix the Hubba Bubba Telescope. However, one of their crewmates has abandoned his post after a traumatizing solo flight around the earth in a spacesuit and the mission is sure to fail without him. (His name is Waffles by the way because of course all of the cats have names much like the cats we are familiar with in this reality.) The book is rife with funny puns and asides as well as excellent illustrations. I wouldn't class this as the best graphic novel I've ever read but I liked it well enough to give another book in the series a shot.

This is my second Catstronauts book and I LOVED it! I appreciate the way Brockington is able to deliver zany humor alongside serious storytelling and character development (appropriate to his audience, of course). I'm not up on my Hubble telescope history (which the Hubba Bubba appears to be based on) but the issue with the zoom lens seems to be reminiscent of the issue with the Hubble's mirror early on its career, so I'd be willing to wager Brockington did research for this book, when you consider what it is and who its audience is and how it compares to other similar books, it says a lot about how Brockington respects his readers' intelligence without sacrificing any yuks along the way. They didn't seem as prevalent as in Race to Mars, but pay attention to the background illustrations; there's some funny stuff there (and I'm pretty sure Sputnik has a cameo). Impressive stuff. I want to read the rest!

The CatStronauts must repair the Hubba Bubba Telescope on the International Space Station. The President is very interested in the mission. It's an election year and he needs the CatStronauts to do things right. When work is completed everything checks out on diagnosis but the telescope still isn't working. Is something wrong with the computer, the telescope or what? Unfortunately, there's a large amount of meteor activity around the station and it's causing communication problems between mission control and the space station. The President is going crazy as things get messy. Meteoroids are everywhere as the team scrambles to get back aboard the ship. Waffles is left floating in space and they can't get to him right away. He has to hang out there alone far too long. He's scared out in the black abyss.
The meteor showers are intense. An asteroid is threatening the world. It's on a collision course and the CatStronauts have the best chance to save everyone. But how?

This was a cute book. The cats on the cover in space made me want to read it. I've always had a love for space and cats and this book brought them together. It is a graphic novel that is part of a series and this is third book in the series.
Characters such as Major Meowers, Pom Pom, Waffles and others are catstronauts. In this book they had to fix the Hubba Bubba Telescope. They came together as a team to complete the mission. There were a few setbacks but they helped each other and showed how each catstronauts was important to the team. When one felt scared and couldn't continue, they others showed their support and encouraged him to return. It shows kids the value of working as part of a team.
I was impressed with the artwork in this book. The use of color made a big impression. I feel it added to the story. There were a few technical words that young kids might have a difficulty with but, with some guidance from an adult they could understand these new words.
I highly recommend this book to those interested in space and cats.

I read this graphic novel out loud to my six-year-old at the library today. He loved it! And I liked it a lot, too! Obviously this is fiction, because it’s about cats in space, but somehow it rings truer than a lot of space books out there. I love the idea of a cats space program that not only has to deal with a giant asteroid headed toward earth but also government funding during an election year.
These books are a great read for every kid in my household, both the boys and the girl, the teens and the kids. And apparently the adults also, because I just might have to read the others in the series now.

These cats have a better space program than people do. It’s kind of a ripoff when you think about it, but I enjoyed this.
I’m not one to brag, but I have an MA in Science Journalism and I was impressed how the author includes science lessons in the story.
I read this to my five year old son in one sitting. And I had a headache. You ever read a comic book out loud when you have a headache? [sarcasm] It’s a real joy [/sarcasm]. But I still enjoyed it and glad we read it. My son lives these books and yanks them out of the bookshelf at the library like they’re [simile]!

For the most part, I don't enjoy graphic novels. CatStronauts is the exception. ONE: I love cats. TWO: These CatStronaut Cats are hilarious. THREE: The author, Drew Brockington has a great sense of humor. These books are shelved in the children's section of my library, but they are read by all the cat lovin' library staff before the kids ever get to see them.

Major Meowser, Waffles, Blanket and Pom Pom are back saving the world one can of tuna at a time. There is a CATastrophic incident with Waffles getting stranded outside the space station while the team tries to repair the Hubba Bubba telescope. This leaves the earth in the path of a giant asteroid. Will the World's Best Scientist and the world's best cat pilot join forces to save the day with more puns than I can count? In an answer, yes.

I love the overly-dramatic humor of this series. Not only is it so funny, it's also pretty serious (they often get into trouble in space with no help available) and as realistic as a world of cats can be.
This may be my favorite in the series so far. I love all of the characters, and a few who haven't been the focus before were center stage. The team had a personal challenge to overcome as well as the situational one. Great series!

As usual great story! This time around Pom Pom comes back from Mars to join his fellow crew on the Space Station. They are working to fix the telescope. Poor Waffles gets stuck out in space (the cutest thing about the book!). Of course, there is a happy ending and all is right with the world. The president does get under my skin though... I wish he would spill coffee all over himself again like he did in book 1.

Again, I read this out loud to one of my children. They all LOVE these books. In this story, the focus is on the space station, where a mission doesn't go as planned and one of the CatStronauts ends up so traumatized that he quits the team. But then, he is needed and is convinced to come back to the rescue.
My youngest likes these books so much that she has started writing and illustrating her out CatStronauts fan fiction.

This book is the best...with humorous, endearing characters, I couldn't put it down, and when I finished reading it, just wanted more and more. CATSTRONAUTS: SPACE STATION SITUATION will entertain both kids and adults, while subtly educating about teamwork, perseverance, accepting weaknesses of oneself and one's pals, and learning that doing one's best is always good enough.

I’m really glad that despite dealing with the horror of being stranded alone orbiting earth for 90 minutes in only a space suit, Waffles the Catstronaut was able to get over his PTSD and not only save earth, but saved Cat President’s re-election chances which were in peril due to the failures of the Hubba Bubba telescope which cost a zillion cat dollars.

I still feel like adults should delve into children's and YA titles just to see what the kids may be reading, and it is particularly fun to do so with an awesome graphic novel full of puns, space exploration and cats!

My favorite Cat was waffles because he saves everyone and he really cute.
What surprised me in this book was that they had a flouting chair.
I would not change the ending because it ends up with everyone saving everyone!

I thought this was rather too techy and boring for a five-year old, but my son loved it. Aside from some cat puns (Major Meowser) and jokes, it’s a pretty plain crisis in space story with characters overcoming their own fears to be brave. The formula works well with the graphics.

This series was a lot of fun and a big hit with my nieces and, particularly, my nephew who has quite a love of all things science and astronomy. If you have any budding young astronauts in the family--or cat lovers (or both)--definitely a series to pay attention to.
