I think the author snuck into our house one night, made a list of all our favourite ingredients and meals then went away to write a book of recipes that we would adore!
There's an "oooh, must try that" on just about every page - my favourite so far is the celeriac, potato and anchovy gratin. I'd been meaning to make a potato & (low carb) celeriac gratin for a while and had planned on adding bacon but anchovies makes so much sense and I've always got them in the fridge ready to add to well, just about anything savoury.
Five stars - highly recommended for people who love food.
Sheet Pan Magic is beautiful to flip through though...the paper is delicious LOL. I found some of the recipes to be fussy and therefore discouraging. The highlight of sheet pan cooking is that it's EASY, both in prep and with regards to the simplicity of ingredients.
While the recipes are well-written, there are a few odd sentences. They are a great source of inspiration for cooking with as few ingredients as possible. The recipes may be a bit confusing due to their instructions, and it's occasionally unclear what, how, when, and afterwards to do.
311:2024 I already have a favorite sheet pan cookbook, but that might not rule out adding this one to the collection. Some good looking recipes in here.
Super disappointed. This book has nice recipes, but if you are looking for "one tin, one meal, no fuss" recipes like I was, and I mean, one baking tin - whack it all in, cook it, serve - then this is not the cookbook for you. Be prepared for a fair amount of prep out of that tin, including whisking and mixing in bowls, putting different ingredients in at different times, rolling out pastry, making dough, making individual pastries, chicken fajitas - obviously you can do a lot in one tray - but not the entire lot! One of the recipes is for a roast dinner!! And once you hit the desserts - nothing unusual here - things you would cook in a tray or a tin like brownies and cakes.
So as I said, the recipes are nice - but don't fall for the sales pitch - this cookbook is not "one tin, one meal, no fuss".
