How has it come to this?
Red and June are trapped in a burning school, surrounded by enemies who are evolving into something worse than before. The infected, known as 'Helpers', are no longer simply trying to infect the survivors. Now they're organizing into effective forces that can overwhelm the scant military left to protect the populace. On the fourth day of the apocalypse, Red and June will find themselves separated and forced to endure trials they might not survive.
Meanwhile, Porter has been infected and captured by the very military that might've once protected him. Now they want to study him, but the onslaught of organized helpers will force them to leave their base and head south.
Will Red and June reunite and continue their trip to Texas, or will their journey end here? And will Porter be brought along with the military, or will they simply execute him like they do the rest of the helpers? Before the end of the day, we'll have our answers.

The action continues
Fast paced read as we learn more about June and how she has got to where she is in Colorado. Great learning about each character as you read from book to book. Another blockbuster series by Mr. Wise.

Intense action!
Part 4. The suspense is killing me. Mr Wise knows how to leave you wanting more. With the helpers evolving and becoming more adept at weaponry usage it becomes even more difficult for our main characters to survive. This is a must read!

Things start to pick up in this one. I was certainly nervous for the core characters at several points in the story, I even got a little choked up near the end. The end of this installment does come abruptly, catching me off guard that it was already over. This is still a solid series for me, it hasn't reached must-read yet, and with three entries remaining it might not crest that five star hill that Wise's other stories have done. As a compilation though, I think this will really shine as a binge-read series.
