Combining spiritual, psychological, and self-reflective tools, Thomas offers an antidote to the hustle-hard, make-it-happen mainstream culture and fosters slowing down, intentionality, and self-care as a pathway to empowerment. How much more potent and powerful would we all be if we embraced our inherent talents, strengths, and feminine edge, rather than dwelling in patterns of self-criticism, doubt, and catty competition?
Thomas invites you to step into a soulful, fulfilling life of freedom, transcending self-destructive habits and creating a blueprint for a more gratifying, centered, and bountiful way of living. Own Your Glow is an awakening roar for women to mobilize, become the masters of their lives, and hold their crowned heads up high, letting their relentless light from within shine bright for the world.
The chapter that really stood out to me and resonated strongly was Chapter 5, focusing on Sacred Cycles and what Latham refers to as Wombifesting. It was an incredibly insightful look into the power behind the cycles in our lives (menstrual, lunar) and how to truly be in tuned with them. I'd been vaguely familiar with the topics covered here, but this was the first time I had seen it all laid out in such a clear, informative and digestible way. Latham also goes into detail on the numerous, often overlooked, parts that make up the female anatomy, a deep dive that I feel I never received until reaching adulthood. Her descriptions and explanations felt a lot more intuitive than anything I had read before (which were usually more clinical than anything else).
This chapter alone is enough for me to highly recommend Latham's book, but the entirety of this work is well written and engaging. I do think if you've been at all immersed in the spiritual books that are available on the market some of the tenants may feel familiar. However, I don't think that takes anything away from what Latham has done here. In fact, the journey to self realization and awareness is an ongoing process and thus, never over. For that reason, one could only stand to benefit from this text and I hope to see more women engaging with the tenets, rituals, and healthy habits of self love detailed in Own Your Glow.
This book breaks down the steps to fully embrace your glow. Relax, self-care, respect your boundaries and forgiveness are keys to slaying your glow. A quick read that will give you plenty of prompts to journal.
Own Your Glow..... was authentic, life changing and simple. I felt like the author was right next to me, as a life coach and was telling me how to live a more authentic life. She has changed my life over the course of about a week. It was simple enough, where anyone can easily apply these things in their daily lives. These were not grand, over the top ideas, instead where the everyday man or woman could live a happier life.
I cannot say enough great things about this book. I enjoyed the first two chapters so much that after purchasing a Kindle copy of the book, I ended up purchasing a hardcopy because I realized this was a book I will reference many times over. This was an excellent read for the end of 2017/beginning of 2018 and it confirmed so many life lessons I have picked up the last 20 years of my life, actually quite a few things I have shared with friends and younger cousins. Latham did an EXCELLENT job of providing guidance on how to "own your glow" without coming off as preachy as some self-help books seem to do, it was more like gentle guidance from your cool sister/cousin/friend. I know a number of younger women that will greatly benefit from this book, honestly is an excellent book for all women from early 20s on up. I'm 40 and much of it served as a gentle reminder that I occasionally need to adjust my crown, straighten my spine, and walk in my God given glow.
This book was incredible! Being fairly new to intentional personal development (books, yoga, exercise) myself, I will say it requires an open mind. A few years ago, I probably would have thought this was too much “hippie” for me. If that might be you, too, I strongly encourage you to get past it because there is so much goodness in this book! It’s an all encompassing self transformation book that is specific enough so you’re not left thinking “okay, but what should I actually DO?” but open ended enough where if one example or suggestion doesn’t suit you, that’s no problem (and probably expected). Latham inspires us while encouraging us to think for ourselves with our own needs and desires in mind. “Own Your Glow and it will light your path along the way...you alone have the power to transform your future.” Please read this, you won’t regret it! And grab a highlighter ;)
This book was just what the doctor ordered, or should I say what God delivered! It took two months to read it but oddly as this sounds, that was appropriate timing be she this took what a guide that needs to be used along the journey to crowning the queen within. So grateful God has put this in my life❤️ it’s honestly worth reading, it’s transformative beyond explanation.
There is so much good stuff to mine here - you could easily use this as an ongoing reference, especially during this time when self-care is extra tough. I had a wonderful conversation with the author about the book and much more, so much that one story is becoming two. Look for them in upcoming issues of Upstate Parent (upstateparent.com).
It's such a journey and such a blessing to read this book. I will definitely be re reading again. It taught me about myself and helped me learn about myself through my own processes. Must read for every human, especially women. I am so grateful for this text. It uplifted me, cover to cover.
This book is filled with tips, resources, and practices to help you uplevel your health. I love the authors holistic approach to health and wellbeing. It was a quick read but I will definitely be going back to it again and again for guidance!
This is a book every woman should read. It was a book I actually wanted to go on forever. it was spiritual, empowering, grounding and enlightening. Latham Thomas will become your best friend and give you the confidence to make boss moves.
A bit too foo-foo for me. This was a gift which I appreciated getting, but working through it was a chore. Maybe if I were younger; maybe if I had more time. . .
