Throughout Crystal Muse , Heather and Timmi share their personal stories on the path toward alternative practice, and explain how these remedies can work for the reader’s life too.
I’ve been interested in crystals for awhile, but haven’t done much about it until recently. I’ve been looking for a good crystal book for beginners, but it was so overwhelming skimming through all the books on crystals, and they’re usually really too exhaustive & comprehensive for a beginner. Then I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts, Lori Harder’s “earn your happy.” I’ve been a long-time fan of Lori and her husband Chris, doing amazing things. She is so knowledgeable, positive, and inspirational. She started out as fitness model, and first saw her on the cover of Oxygen magazine. She’s grown tremendously since then, now a lifestyle entrepreneur, author, podcaster, and a health & fitness junkie. She has amazing guests on her podcast, and recently had on ladies from Energy Muse, talking about crystals and their new book on crystals. So I immediately placed a hold at the library to see it first before buying it. As soon as I opened the book, I ordered it immediately. It was the exact crystal book I have been searching for. Funny how things work out that way... . “Crystal Muse: Everyday Rituals to Tune In to the Real You” by by Heather Askinosie & Timmi Jandro is the perfect crystal book for the beginners. If you’ve been curious about crystals, I highly recommend this book. I’ve been wanting to incorporate crystals in my daily rituals for awhile, but didn’t know how. I’ve mentioned this before on my review of “The Rosie Project,” but I have an anxiety, add, ocd, and bi-bipolar, so rituals are very important to me. I am ridiculously strict about my schedule & time, with some room for fun & spontaneity. The reason I’m so protective of my daily rituals is because if I don’t, things can fall apart real quick in my life, which has many times before. . This book is not only beautiful, but it’s simple, clear, and easy-to-use with guides & rituals for using crystals for different areas of your life while demystifying crystals for the beginners. In this chaotic & busy time, it is ever more important to take care of yourself mentally, physically, and spiritually. This book has helped me tremendously in connecting to the calm, grounding energy of crystals. It has helped me to be more in tuned with myself and have seen shifts in my life, health, and mindset. You do need lot of crystals for some of the rituals, but don’t let that deter or overwhelm you, start small and slow. You can start with just few crystals that resonate with you. Some of my favorite crystals are quartz, amethyst, and carnelian. How about you? Do you incorporate crystals in your life? What is your favorite crystals? 🤓✌️📖
So I'm not really sure what I think about this book. I bought it because I am interested in learning more about crystals, but this book was more of a autobiography than a book about crystals. It told the story of how the authors discovered crystals and how it helped in their lives. Sure, it is nice to know how they affect the everyday life, but I wish there was some more info about the different crystals rather than just a few info sheets every now and again. BUt, it is a start, so in that sense, it isn't all that bad.
The quality of the book is amazing and you can see that they put much work and care into it. I have read most of it, but haven't tried a ritual yet. First I need to get myself some more crystals :D
A very good book for beginners! I love how the author writes, very simple, casual and down to earth. But unfortunately, as I live in a different country from the author, there are a lot of items that are harf to find here, so i couldn't try to conjure some of the interesting recipes they have. But above all this boow is fun to read and easy to follow
Great book. Less of a guide to specific crystals (though they do have that at the back), this book combines the authors' personal journeys w crystals and life (so a wee bit of memoir) w how to use crystals. They include rituals (many require multiple stones of various shapes and sizes, so you might want to only do the rituals that feel absolutely urgent to you unless you are rich or own a crystal shop) and lots of basics about crystals. Great book for guidance on all this crystals. Also - very beautiful and a nicely put-together book.
Omg I love this book! Everything is so organized into specific chapters with detailed easy to understand rituals. The energy put into creating this beautiful book comes through the pages. I’m so happy to have a physical copy. SO HAPPY with my purchase!
Part of the reason that i’m giving this book a 3 stars rating is because i don’t think it work as an audio format. This book has that kind of content that you use as a reference not too actually listen to it. I appreciate reading it all trough but at the same time when it came to the ritual parts, they are just describing what you should do and what you should get. It’s nice to have that when you doing the ritual and being in an audio form is hard to get back to it because the index doesn’t tell specifically when the description of that ritual is starting. Well, this is a book that is necessary to be in a physical form to put in simpler words.
Otherwise i liked it a lot how they mix ritual - personal stories - struggles - uses of the crystals - history of them. But it’s important to note that for you to do the rituals in here you will need A LOT of crystals. And space. It felt quite privileged for me to be honest. You need to have access for certain tools that could easily be exchangeable for something else. It feels form me that only a person that lives in the US can truly do it all. Me not being from the US and been a nomadic make almost every single one of those rituals impossible to be made.
i've been practising witchcraft for 2 years so far. i like the book, only 3 issues.
1) the author talks a bit too much about her personal life. everyone's just here for the crystal info, not the fire in your kitchen, honey.
2) the author's name is heather, so i'm assuming she's white. she talks about shamanism and native american practises, and does things that would be considered cultural appropriation in the witchcraft community (ex: calling sage cleansing "smudging" and claiming that the two can be used interchangebly.)
3) the rituals require lots of crystals. crystals can be expensive, and even if they aren't, the price adds up, FAST. in the first ritual called the "space clearing ritual," for example, she says to put 1 black tourmaline in each room of your house. i have 11 rooms in my house, and let's say the crystal is $1.96 CAD each, without tax. 1.96 x 11 is $21.56. over twenty dollars just for one supply needed in the ritual! NOBODY HAS THAT KIND OF MONEY. as a witch, i will tell you that all you *really* need to cleanse a space is salt, sage to burn and clear quartz, the cheapest crystal ever.
just take this with a grain of salt, especially because of reason #2, and remember that you don't need all of these things! blessed be :)
An interesting tour of a lot of the current ideas about uses of crystals for spiritual work. As someone who's not very well-versed in geological science, I'd be interested to go back over the stuff in here and see if there's any sort of overarching logic that pairs uses of crystals with their physical makeup, ie if the micro-level patterns of their formation pairs routinely with certain emotional elements - hexagons for happiness, cubes for stability, things like that. There's certainly a lot about color already, and that's the sort of the thing that's backed by modern psychology, if one is inclined towards that, as well.
There's a lot in here I won't touch about the sort of free-form grabbing of spiritual elements from around the world that form a bit of an odd mix, but by now I've come to accept that there's a thriving community of people around the world who seem fairly willing to share their spiritual practices with those who seek them out, as long as there's a certain degree of respect. Eclecticism isn't a bad thing, though some of it in these books can read a bit iffy depending on your mindset.
I opened "Crystal Muse" because it clocked in at a fairly astounding 160 megabytes. I was expecting one of those dreadful Japanese comics but what I found was probably even worse - New Age rubbish about the healing powers of various stones. Some people love the whole idea of Mother Earth, others (myself included) believe it to be nothing more than delusional. Co-author Heather Askinosie writes: "I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH CRYSTALS FOR OVER 25 YEARS. IN THAT TIME, I HAVE SEEN LIVES TRANSFORMED. I HAVE WATCHED FINANCES AND health improve. I’ve witnessed new romances, the healing of old wounds ..." Outside of the fact that I have always found that people who write in upper case should be avoided at all costs, I have also experienced all of the above and there were no crystals involved, not once, not ever! And then there was the remarkable statement that "This book was blessed by: ... ... John of God" Who turns out to be a convicted sex offender currently serving a 63 year prison sentence in Brazil. Absolute drivel - I gave up after two chapters. I did pick up a crystal and then I put it down - nada! 1 Star.
A lot of people gave this book amazing reviews and all of them are right. I enjoyed this book so much.
Heather and Timmi really put SO much effort into it as well as what they offer as EnergyMuse.
It's filled with beautiful crystal "recipes" that work to enrich your life and provide you with balance, clarity and most likely so much more than you can imagine. I want to say that it's timeless because they're recipes you can turn to over and over again, but things change all the time so I'd rather say that the recipes and guidance they share will most likely be great companions no matter where in life you or we as a human race find ourselves.
The author gives lots of information regarding space clearing and tells the reader to go through all of it before trying to do any of it. There is so much information and techniques in the book that if I were to have jumped on one I would've missed another which works better for me. The author goes through numerology and space clearing along with aromas and space clearing. Basically this will become a reference book for a while.
This book is beautifully written even for a crystal newbie like myself. I learned a lot and I will definitely use this book as a reference for a long time to come. I love that there were detailed descriptions of the stones and what they represent and how to use them in your everyday life as well as in ways to create a better life! I’m hooked
I enjoyed the friendly conversational style this was written in. The pictures were absolutely lovely. The quick pictorial crystal reference pages at the back were lovely to read through, as well. I left many bookmarks in my ebook copy so that I could go back and look at things that stood out to me again or so I could find things I wanted to try in the future.
What a beautiful book! I can’t wait to start practicing some of these rituals and use them as part of my daily meditative practice. I have never really known much about crystals...but I have always been drawn to them. This book does an amazing job of giving an introduction in how to use them in your daily life.
It is a very informative and interesting read. I love Crystal's and read every book I can on them. I have done one of the things in this book already; but, not sure I would do all or most of these things the way they do. Everyone has their own way of doing things and working with their Crystal's and you have to take away what feels right to you and don't do the things that don't align with you.
This is a well-written book with lots of info on crystals as well as an incredible amount of rituals to practice for all sorts of situations in our lives. Loved it!
Incredible! Such a beautiful book and very well written. I love that the founders of Energy Muse used personal stories and how the crystals helped them. I can’t wait to start doing these rituals and add more crystals into my life!
Very lovely book and clear writing. I have no idea if this stuff works on a therapeutic level or not, but looking at such beautiful objects and photos definitely does calm me!
I love love love all the ritual ideas in this book. One of the best guides to crystals, but also a practical and accessible application of integrating crystals in your practice.
