Here is the full story of the most important band of its era, accompanied by rare and fascinating photographs. Nirvana was the band that defined a generation—and its recordings continue to influence contemporary musicians and music lovers. Spawned in the intensely fertile Seattle grunge scene that blossomed in the late 1980s, it instantly distinguished itself from its peers through the singular passion of its leader, Kurt Cobain. Renowned music journalist Gillian G. Gaar explores Nirvana’s unique status through song lyrics and interviews with the group members and their friends and colleagues. Look back at the early years, read reviews of their first recordings and seminal albums, and view remarkable images of handwritten set lists, tour posters and itineraries, VIP backstage passes, limited-edition album covers, and rare family photos.
A great overview/explanation background story to every Nirvana song including covers and different shows/tours. Great for both Nirvana and Cobain fans although it wrenches tour heart knowing how creative and lyrically hard-working, talented, and poignant Cobain was - passing messages while recreating genres of rock n' roll, punk, grunge, etc to say the least.
A great look into the band overall love the breakdown of each song, but some sections especially the bits breaking down the history of the band felt like they were repeating themselves (maybe a formatting issue ?)
