4/24/2021 ~ A new to me transitional chapter book series; I jumped directly from Volume #1 to Volume #7. Notice that at some point, the illustrator changed. The DATA Set consists of 4 "science whiz kids" and stands for Data, Action, Trouble, and Adventure. In this volume, the kids accidentally use Dr. Bunsen's remote control to travel through time in an attempt to get enough information to make their science fair project function correctly.

The characters are flat, and it's difficult to tell them apart. The physics are completely wrong - how can a device that turns water into a laser beam provide water to wilting plants and perk them right up (p. 36); also the time & space travel? (Yes, I thoroughly enjoy sci-fi, but the physics need to be internally consistent; even our youngest readers deserve better). I'm leaning toward not ordering this series for my elementary school library.

Loved this last book in the series, so far. I am hoping for more because this is such a cute kids series. I love the characters, they are developed but not to complex for kids. I love their adventures and how creative the author can be. I love how different yet similar each book is! I am excited tobsee if another of the set is coming out!

Read aloud to the younger kids. I really loved this one, especially after several that were not as clever. I don’t think the kids actually notice too much between books. This one used time travel in a really creative and clever way, fun to read as an adult. Reminded me of what I enjoyed most of book 1.

A fast moving, early chapter series for 2nd and 3rd graders. If your students like science, invention and technology - this is a good series to connect them with. Interesting and whacky.

Lots of fun for younger readers. Science, friendship and adventure make for a wonderful storyline and a great chapter book series. So glad I stumbled on this one at the store.

#7 in the series
The four DATA set kids travel back and forward in their lives using the remote Dr. Bunsen invented. Humor and science along the way.
