Younique: Designing the Life that God Dreamed for You

Rate this book
God created you with unique potential and placed you on planet Earth for a specific purpose.

But in the busyness of life and the activity of church, you’ve probably never identified your specific calling in a way that brings life-changing clarity. Unfortunately, most people haven’t. Like a distinct echo, the promise of life with a vision remains elusive, drowning under the demands of work, the messiness of family, and the stuff that all Christians are supposed to do.

Younique exists to help you discover, even in the midst of the chaos, your divine design.

Your divine design—God’s design for your life—is more knowable than you realize. You are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which he has prepared in advance, that you should walk in them. With the right tools, you can discover your life vision and align your life vocation. You can and should know your Life Younique—your God-given identity and your God-inspired dreams. Most importantly, you can discern and design the practical next steps to get there.

Whew! I would need to read this 10 times to get the full impact of the activities and ideas in this book. Very thought provoking and challenging, I’ll be chewing on it for awhile.

In this book, Younique, Will Mancini, Cory Hartman, and Dave Rhodes really help us identify God's unique and fulfilling focus for our lives and then give us practical tools to continue to pursue that focus every single day.

My personal focus - my "two words"? Catalyzing Multipliers. My mission? Leveraging voracious learning to equip leaders for transformational discipleship and church multiplication.

The authors give us a 1-4-1-4 tool that guide us to create 1 three year "beyond the horizon" vision for our lives, 4 one year goals to help us move toward that destiny, 1 annual focus, and 4 daily rhythms that help to keep us on track.

I know Will Mancini personally and he truly is a practitioner of these tools and principles he shares. I also know one of the coauthors, Cory Hartman, and it was super-fun to see his handiwork and experience his Younique journey.

I love a quote shared toward the end of the book that sums up the journey that Mancini, Hartman, and Rhodes desire for us to experience:

"Do not be afraid to trust [God] utterly. As you go down the long corridor you will find that He has preceded you, and locked many doors that you would fain have entered; but be sure that beyond these there is one which He has left unlocked. Open it and enter, and you will find yourself face to face with a bend of the river of opportunity, broader and deeper than anything you had dared to imagine in your sunniest dreams. Launch forth on it; it conducts to the open sea." F. B. Meyer

Comprehensive guide to finding your God-created niche, by exploring your history, experience, talents, thriving environments and more. The best source for putting it all together. Strongest benefit from the book is doing the assessments, reviewing the video links in the book, following through with weekly reflections, 90-day plans, etc.

Younique offers a challenge to live a life on purpose. There is great content throughout and much to work through. For those of us that value self-reflection there is much to gain here. For those of us that don’t, this book shows us why we should make time to consider our life. At points this book may feel like work, but it is worth the investment.

I was looking forward to reading Younique: Designing the Life that God Dreamed for You by Will Mancini (with Dave Rhodes and Cory Hartman) (B&H Publishing, 2020) because it looked like it might be a tool to help me decide how to spend my golden years. I’m retired, but not so tired that I’m ready to spend my days in a rocking chair on the porch, watching life pass by. There is definitely a part of me that wants to make a difference in the time that I have left, and since its God that gives me that time, I want my life to honor Him.
I was hoping for something new, but I didn’t really find it. This is another book with good information about mission, vision, purpose, and goals. Much of the same stuff that I’ve read in a number of other books over the past 40 or so years. Yes Mancini presents it a little differently, but I found his plan burdensome and overly complicated.
In many ways it seemed as I was reading Younique that this was a management book with some scripture and biblical principles thrown in to offer a fresh appeal to ministry leaders. Although I didn’t check out the links that offered additional information on several things mentioned, I got the impression that to get the full benefit of Mancini’s plan for designing a new life, that I might need to purchase a membership, or buy additional materials.
In short, this book is not for me, and I would hesitate to broadly recommend it, although I can think of one or two people who would probably be willing to give it a try.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher as a part of a blogging program, I was not required to write a positive review.

Everyone needs to read this book! You were made for a specific purpose. Don’t waste your life!
Mancini has a passion to help people name and live out their special calling. He has an amazing gift to help people understand that not only does God have a unique design for their life but he also gives practical tools to help them live out their God given identity.

This book is different from other Christian personal growth/self-help type books. It is unique (no pun intended) as it focuses primarily on a person’s special calling. It also gives practical tools to help one name that calling and live it out!

It is very comprehensive. While there are plenty of stories and examples included, there is very little fluff. Some who read it may feel overwhelmed with all of the content. It is definitely not a book that one should expect to read and comprehend in one sitting. “Younique” is a tool, or more precisely a toolbox, that helps an individual to name their special calling and to practically live it out. I will be re-reading and reviewing portions as I reflect on where I am on my life’s journey and as I live out my “Younique” divine design.

There are a few books I would call life-changing. This one is near the top of the list.

Full disclosure: I am part of the Younique team.

I have loved seeing this book turn from an idea into reality. I have seen what it has done for many. I look forward to what it will do for you.

This is a book about gospel-centered life design. It helps you learn how to shape and live the life God has been dreaming for you since before time began.

The best thing about the book is that it is not a mere description of how things are to be. Instead, it’s a book full of tools to help you gain clarity about your personal story. Where we have been in the past shapes where we are now, and where we are headed in the future.

This book will help you live with intentionality as you lean into the special future God has for you.

This book reminded me why I love Will's writing. He packs meaning into every phrase it a way that really blows your hair back. I felt seen and understood. Even better, I feel as though this book adds value beyond the Younique course and can serve as a worthy companion for those who are going through the experiential process.

I believe the author tired to slam a life coach into a book. Too many claims to be bullet proof in his process and steps and too many empty promises to be useful. I believe this book would be great to be used in tandem with a life coach from his company, but by itself, I don’t believe it to be profitable.

Excellent life planning process

I have read, been taught, and used other time management and life planning techniques. I am anxious to put this one into practice. It is comprehensive yet simplistic as you work through it step-by-step.

Many great tools; overcomplicated naming of devices; helpful for young/developing leaders, but needs someone to walk them through the practice and application of the tools

This book helped me solidify the path that I'm on and validated the importance of finding my sweet spot and staying in it. If you're confused on who you are and what you were made to do, this is an incredible resource that will help you figure out the reason God put you on this earth. If you have clarity about who you are and what you were made to do, this will take you to another level.
