I felt that this book kept promising me something interesting and fun, but never actually delivered on those promises. This happened several times throughout the book - when Brandon seduced Greg, when Seth yelled at Calvin about the band, when Calvin went to his interview mostly drunk, when Greg had Seth's guest's cars towed, when the lawsuits came in from Greg's business decision, and when Seth decided to listen to the music execs rather than to Greg and Cynthia. In each case, John set up what looked like it could be a really interesting dynamic that would drive a good plot and some great conflict, but they all just seemed to fizzle out as the story progressed.

Taking just one of those instances as an example - what happened to Calvin in this story? He is supposedly Seth's best friend since high school and yet they only talk once in the whole book. Then, after Seth and he get in their argument from that one conversation, he gives an interview to a reporter for a magazine that focuses on bassists where he talks about Seth. When the story breaks, and Seth's life comes into everyone's attention, how did no one think of Calvin being the source of the leak? Why wouldn't Seth confront him, or feel betrayed?

On top of that, my respect for Greg took a hit when he allowed Brandon - who worked for him - to seduce him. I (sort of) got over this when we learned more about how lonely and isolated he was feeling, but I lost all respect for his unilateral decision to introduce a third into their relationship as a birthday present for Seth. They had never talked about anything like that, and no matter what insecurities Greg had about his relationship with Seth, that was inexcusable.

I bought this book thinking it was going to be the same kind of rock star story! I was pleasantly surprised at the beautiful storyline. Seth was a rock star in his twenties and Greg is in his forties and is a hot shot in publishing. They are neighbors and meet in angry circumstances. This story was beautifully written and one of the best M/M books I read in years! I loved Greg's character the most, his strength and how he was comfortable with his sexuality. He didn't hide being a gay man and I applaud the author for writing a confident sexy male character and wish society could embrace and except love like theirs. This author really wrote a exceptional love story, he pours his heart in all his books to give the readers a glimpse of the struggles and ignorance a gay man of today still must endure. This is a must read. If you love a heartwarming love story grab this book, you won't be disappointed! ❤

Seth Valentine : M/M Gay Romance

This is a May/ December story. Book editor in his forties meets rock god in his twenties.
I just couldn't connect, it read... I don't know, kinda mechanical somehow. No passion. Greg and Seth are perfectly nice people but I couldn't make myself care for them nor their future together. Or apart. I just read the words.
As a side note, personal pet peeve: the younger lover calling the older one 'daddy'. I can't get over that. I don't care if it's MM or MF... I can't.
So that didn't help matters, I know. This story is a one-off for me then ^^

This book contains explicit Sexual content.

Gregory has worked very hard at Grandfield and Allen choosing and bringing books to life for the world and all the effort has finally been with it when the owner takes an interest in him. An offer to take over editing is everything he ever wanted, but at the end of the day going home to an empty house leaves him empty inside. His new position allows him to move to a larger home where Gregory can have all the space he needed, but when his next door neighbor starts having all night parties he wonders if he made a mistake. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, Gregory decides to try and ask politely with little effect. Gregory knows he has seen him before and an internet search gives him his answer. His neighbor is a lead singer Seth Valentine, the young and upcoming rock star.

Seth is having problems of his own with his band members not happy with all the media interest he is getting. All Seth wants to to continue creating and performing music with his band mates. It doesn't help that the company backing them doesn't want anyone to know Seth is gay even though he has never denied it. Undeniable passion erupts between Seth and Gregory leaving them questioning the direction of their lives. Difficulties from both of their jobs prevents them from exploring their growing feelings allowing them to doubt their relationship.

Experiencing the love, heartbreak, and wonder of love the growing love between Gregory and Seth was wonderful.

Fancy a bit of hot, steamy romance with a great story? This quick but gripping read from John Harris is just what you need! At the age of 40 Greg has got the promotion to the top job he always wanted allowing him to buy his dream home outside the city. Seth has just finished a tour with his rock band and is headed home. Both men are gay but both are kind of in the closet for different reasons. Seth because a gay lead singer isn't good for a band popular with young girls and Greg because, well, that's how he was brought up. Of course their homes back onto each other so they're bound to meet but their first meeting is not an auspicious one as Greg tries to deal with Seth's loud partying. Greg is lonely and Seth is restless but is it just Seth's partying getting on Greg's nerves, or is it something else about the young rock star that puts Greg on edge? It's refreshing to see the relationship between a younger and an older man grow so close but what happens when bad choices are made and the road becomes rocky? This book rides the waves of Greg and Seth's relationship and careers. The story is original, well written and captivating right to the end. The sex is hot, as expected and the emotion written into it is perfect. My only reservation is the lack of condom use. There is no safe sex practiced in this book despite the inclusion of a hot threesome. Although it doesn't detract from the story it leaves a bit of a bad taste, no pun intended. I enjoyed the emotional ups and downs both the characters and their relationship go through and the ending was spot on if a little rushed. A great story from start to finish and well worth reading. This is a interesting & intriguing book to read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. What you will find in this book is: a man who is working for one of the largest publishing company and has been promoted (Grey), a young male rock star who is living life to the fullest yet is unhappy about the company he is currently at, drama, intrigue, twists & turns, secrets, insecurities, dissatisfaction, loneliness, disagreements, attractions, heartbreak, emotional feelings, lust, love and erotic scenes. I found the story-line and plot is well thought out and written, the pace is steady and not rushed. The characters have needs and desires according to their personality. I would recommend this book to people who like to read a M/M Romance with a HEA.

The writing is well done and the MC's have a ton of chemistry. Heat level is high. There are times when you really want to grab onto Greg and Seth and ask them if they've lost their ever-loving minds! There are good and bad decisions that people make every day, and there's a mix of that here. Without giving too much away, this book will definitely get a reaction out of you. Good, or bad. There were some situations that could have gone over a little better had they been delved into a little deeper. One, in particular, I felt should have gone a different way entirely, but that's only one reader's opinion. It will vary with every person due to their own personal preferences. Bringing a third person into the mix where feelings are involved can have a lot of different outcomes. I don't like a lot of spoilers, so I won't include too much of that type of thing here. I will tell you that this book will keep your attention, whether it makes you not want to put it down, or it makes you have to step away and grab a cup of coffee so you can catch your breath to go back to it! Both were true for me at different parts. I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book for my honest opinion and review.

WOW! Another intriguing side of John Harris. A great novella of two very successful, but very different men. Greg was the president of the editing division of a publishing company. He loved what he did, but he was a very lonely man. Greg was forty and still very much single. When he moved into his new home in the suburbs of New York he finds a very noisy neighbor butting up to his backyard. Seth is a young rock star who lives in the mansion behind Greg. With the loud noise and the partiers parking in Greg's driveway, the two get off to a rocky start. Several days later Greg is invited over for a drink by Seth. Attraction and passion take over. HOT and dynamic together the two become boyfriends. Seth is having trouble with his band plus he is outed to the public. Even a threesome that Greg set up for Seth's Birthday has put a wedge between them. Seth's record company fires him and he's on his on. Greg has his own problems at work and the stress between them is almost unbearable. Can their love get them through this? Loved this story!! ❤️

Seth Valentine by John Harris is a great story. This story is about Greg who is a 40-year-old editor who works at a publishing house. He has just gotten a raise and became the president of editing, and he is his bosses number one choice for taking over as CEO when he retires. Seth is a 22-year-old rock star that has just hit the big times with his band Don't Ask Stacey and has out two hit records and has just gotten done with an extensive tour. Greg is a private person and likes to keep his personal life private. He has grown up in a time that that is just how you did things. However, he isn't in the closet, and he loves his life even if he is lonely. Following up on his dream of moving out of the city and into the country he buys a four-bedroom house at the end of a lot that shares a backyard with another large house. The house just happens to belong to Seth Valentine, who likes to throw huge, loud parties. Greg isn't sure that he likes his neighbor at first, but he definitely grows on him. I loved this age difference love story. I loved the twists and turns and reading how much Seth and Greg had in common even though they have grown up in different times. Both make some poor choices in life and grow and learn from them and it makes their relationship stronger. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

SETH VALENTINE, by author JOHN HARRIS, is a contemporary, feel good, warm your heart romance. It starts off introducing both main characters, Seth and Greg, depicting them as two dissimilar individuals... men almost twenty years apart in age, coming from different backgrounds, and with very different professions. But they share salient commonalities..... neither man is living life entirely as an openly gay man and each experience an incompleteness... a dissatisfaction in their lives. The two men acknowledge a feeling of loneliness, an ache at not having someone to open up with, to share their lives with, and ultimately, the freedom to be themselves... to give and receive love. This story is their journey..... the author conveys it well and with depth... from their initial meeting, within their passionate lovemaking, through the stumbles and missteps as the pair struggle.... right up until the moment where they both discover that what each longed for... was waiting for them in the heart right next door...

well, John Harris has done it again with his new release. Greg is an editor and has been on the fast track for promotions at the publishing company he works at. Seth Valentine is a rock star with his band. They have everything they want...or at least they think. Meeting each other after Greg buys a house whose property abuts that of Seth's, they meet when a loud party brings Greg knocking at Seth's door. Their relationship grows as Seth's band starts having problems. Greg makes a decision that is not wise at both work and with Seth and his relationship and Seth has made a major decision about his sexuality and the closet. A really interesting story with twists and turns and maybe even a threesome. I think John's fans will love this one just as I did. Enjoy this excellent read. Oh wow another hot book by John Harris! Greg is heading to forty and is the closet but he's landed his dream job but something is missing he's lonely. Seth is in his early twenties and in the closet because s the lead singer in a band others feel the female fans need to see him as straight, he's also realising how lonely he is. Greg moves in next door to Seth and the sparks fly. John Harris takes you on the journey they make and its hot! The author writes love and steamy sex so well. This book is well written and so worth a read.

"I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book." Seth Valentine A great read about a young rock star Seth and Greg a slightly older gentleman. I like d the new genre of the book, May and December relationship. The meet cute of their relationship, when they first meet each other, is they both think they want to have sex with each other. When the relationship does happen, its about them and others. A realistic approach, not in a vacuum. At times supportive and then confrontational, real life. Most of all I loved how they supported each other in their relationship to make it grow and not about the age difference, but basing it on the individual and their love for one another. A must read if you want to see a May/December relationship done right. "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book, and loved it ". Job well done John.

Good story idea. I always enjoy a story where one or both of the MC's are older than 35, in fact those are probably my favorite. As good as this story was, I just could't get past some of the wording. I absolutely can't stand to see words like penis, manhood, anus, anal cavity, etc. used by an author during love scenes. It is a complete turn off and is always cringe-worthy. We are all adults here, use words that reflect that, especially during a love scene. There is nothing romantic or sexy about using medical terms.
But, bottom line, I suppose, is that the story was a good one.

What happens when you take a sexy rockstar and rising business man together? A smoking hot romance is what you get. Greg is a 40 year old business man who has been steadily rising in his company. He's not exactly in the closet but he definitely isn't advertising it. Then you have Seth. A 23 year old rockstar in the closet. Greg moves into his new home only to find that the loud neighbor behind him is Seth. From their first meeting, these two go on a rocky ride filled with lots of hot sex and disagreements. Remember though, these are characters not real life. I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy.

Greg is moving up, in his job and to celebrate he buys a new home not knowing he would be living next to a rock star. Seth is coming down for the high of his last tour. Greg is getting tired of his neighbor holding parties and people parking in his driveway. what should have been a neighborly dislike turned into something more between them. Both Seth and Greg finds themselves attracted to each other, but its not an easy road for them to walk. Seth has to decide whether he will play puppet for his record label or be with the person who clearly loves him.

Such a sweet story.

Seth is a new rockstar riding the road to fame. Greg is the VP of editing for a publishing company. By a stroke of luck Greg buys the house right next to Seth's and they meet one night when a party at Seth's was getting out of hand. From then on they are inseparable until rough patches starting worming their way between them. With tears and love they overcome what life has thrown at them.

When I started this book I was going to give it a 4 stars then I almost gave it 3 stars because of this scene: However, what happened after it ended jumped it back up to a 4.
