Gabriel Halldor. . . one of the fiercest warriors the world has ever seen, but his tremendous skill can’t save him from a sorcerer’s curse. Trapped in stone and left lying in darkness for thousands of years, he is, at long last, brought into the sunlight of a Japanese garden, where a young girl comes to sit at his feet and read him stories as she grows to womanhood.
Hana Himura. . . beloved granddaughter of a Japanese mob boss, raised to the life of a warrior. When death comes for her grandfather, he sends her to the one guardian courageous enough to protect her from a sorcerer who will stop at nothing to have her.
Raphael. . . the most powerful vampire lord on earth, and the only man who can save Gabriel and Hana from an enemy who would enslave them both.
Running from the certain death that awaits them in Japan, Hana and Gabriel flee to Malibu and the vampire lord her grandfather called friend. Raphael is magic and power combined, and Gabriel and Hana will need both if they’re going to survive long enough to defeat their enemy and light the flame of desire that’s been simmering between them for years.
Wow just so much coming together here that will have fans squealing ! I’ve actually held off writing this review because honestly I’m not sure I can do it justice. Yes this continues the Stone Warriors books but it also incorporates this authors Vampires in America series with a unique crossover that works beautifully. Hold on to your hats fans of Raphael because he’s about to almost ( who am I kidding with almost ?) take centre stage but fear not because Gabriel is definitely no slouch ! I was truly unsure how this would go but it’s a blend that absolutely makes sense. Gabriel is woken from his curse by Hana when her life is in danger from a powerful and vicious Sorcerer . Oddly enough the fangs his stature sported disappear as the couple go on the run but it’s soon clear that something is terribly wrong with Gabriel and Hana remembers her grandfathers friend in America. Taking a huge chance they go to Raphael only to realise that Gabriel is dying and it’s only by embracing his magically hidden Vampire nature that he will survive. As if that wasn’t enough to contend with there’s still the problem of the male stalking Hana and ironically it all connects back to Gabriel’s past with Nico ! O boy not one hot and heavy romance but two for the price of one and personally I think the author is more than a little in love with her own creation Raphael. Not that I blame her and let’s be honest she is fast approaching the role of Alpha writer when it comes to Vampire romance. Yet Gabriel and Hana are never overshadowed and quite rightly prove that their relationship is based on love . I adored that Gabriel understood his place in the world finally after despising what he is for so long. Seeing him embrace his new reality and then somehow still showing those from his past that he will always be there was truly emotional. Although please don’t think that Hana is some shy retiring sort because she is absolutely as fierce and independent as the lovely Cyn. I loved the romance, the snark , plus the action that thunders through this story and with one Warrior still to find I’m so looking forward to more particularly if Nico and Raphael butt heads ! This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

The heroine:Hana - she lives in Nagano Japan and is the granddaughter of a Yakuza mob boss. Her grandfather raised her and taught her the forbidden ways of magic and sorcery. When enemies attack their home, they are after Hana. Her grandfather tells her to go to Gabriel, the statue he got her as a gift when she was young. Though she was raised as a warrior, she ran from their enemy, went through the hedge in the garden to the statue.
The Hero:Gabriel - he was an ancient warrior who fought with his four brothers in arms for a sorcerer named Nicodemus. He was a berserker and a vampire who drank the blood of his enemies. They fought for good until an evil sorcerer named Sotiris cursed the four brothers by encasing them in stone and sending them to the far reaches of the planet, where they have been lost to Nicodemus for thousands of years.
The Story: Hana goes to the statue of Gabriel in hopes that he will wake from his curse and offer her safety. She knew her grandfather was now gone, and her enemies were looking for her (one of them she knew had magical powers). They were after her because of who she was, what she was and what she could do. She was an amplifier of magic. She could double the strength of a magical sorcerer and Sotiris was after her.
The story was ok but not spectacular. I wanted a bit more action and there was something about Hana that I didn’t like. Maybe she was too tough or something. I just wasn’t feeling the attraction between them like I wanted. It did get steamy in parts but I wasn’t feeling it as much as in the last two books. Also it was stupid that Gabriel refused to drink blood from Hana, especially since he was supposed to protect her. He just got weaker and weaker.
This book is told in multiple points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Tor Thom. I have listened to him many times before and really like his narration. He does different voices very well and has a nice deep voice which is great to listen to. I don’t even mind that it isn’t dual or duet narration.
Mixed feelings on this one. I felt like Reynolds couldn’t decide if this was going to be a Stone Warriors book or VIA. Started out like the others, Hana breaks Gabriel’s spell, then they go on the run/hiding from Sotiris’ goons, who are after Hana’s special power. The storyline runs in place for awhile. About a third into the book, Hana realizes she knows a powerful vampire who can help them, and they rush off to Malibu and Raphael.
At this point, the book pretty much turns into a VIA crossover. Gabriel has a big problem and secret, one the other SW’s didn’t have, and Raphael helps him out. There is a lot of meet and greet between old and new allies. There is also a hell of a lot of testosterone oozing and male posturing. I rolled my eyes a few times, especially with Nick and Raphael doing the junkyard dogs bit, mainly over Cyn. (I like Cyn, but she must have a magical vajayjay or something). The way Nick acts, you’d think the powerful sorcerer hadn’t gotten laid since Cyn, and was still smarting over ‘losing’ her to Raphael. As for Raphael, he acted more like a punk with powers than a Master Vampire. Disappointed in the cartoonish characterization of both of them. A lot of sex, of course, which I quickly started skimming trying to get back to something, anything happening in the storyline.
Near the end of the book we finally get to the climactic dust-up with the bad guy. Not the big climax, of course, as we still have another Stone Warrior and Nick to go; but enough to keep the reader’s interest for Dragan’s book. (Although the ubiquitous epilogue primed the reader for Lachlan’s story in the VIA series instead). Did I love this book? No, but I enjoyed it well enough, especially touching base with so many of the regular characters in Raphael’s compound. Other than that, not a whole heck of a lot really happened. Not my favorite by any stretch, but still fun. I like the full VIA series better.
And here the Stone Warrior series mets Vampires in America! ... and we all know how much Nick and Raphael love each other, don't we? LOL
Poor Gabriel is between a rock and a hard place! He's Nick's stone warrior but he's also a vampire and Raphael saved his life and given him his free will back.
But there's Hana to think about it too. And Sotiris wants her and will not stop at nothing to get her and use her wheather she wants it or not.
We get to see all freed stone warriors and, like a cherry on top, we get to see also Raphael and Cyn! That was great!
I loved how Raphael and Nick intercated. Both love Cyn and don't want to upset her, so it was hilarious to read what one thought about the other! LOL
There's a lot of action and Gabriel and Hana's story was a bit overwhelmed by all that, but I liked it!
I'm looking forward to Dragan's story and I hope Nick will get his one too! ;-)
Gabriel is book three in D.B. Reynolds Stone Warriors series and a fantastic addition to this exciting series! I love how DBR incorporated this story with some of my favorite characters from her fantastic Vampires in America series.
Gabriel is one of Nick’s cursed warriors who’s spell has finally been broken just in the nick of time to help Hana escape hired assassins/kidnappers who have already killed her beloved Grandfather. Now to remain safe they must leave Japan and head to the United States to seek help from a very powerful Vampire Lord. Hana has a special ability that makes her very valuable....to powerful sorcerers. And it will take all of Gabriel’s considerable might along with both old and new commadres to save her from a mutual enemy.
Lord Raphael, Cyn, and Raphael’s people bring a welcome addition this storyline. You can expect a fast paced storyline, plenty of action, magic, and sexy times. And least I forget to mention we get plenty action with Nick, “the God of War” (and my personal favorite Stone Warrior) Damian, Kato, and their mates Casey and Grace. I definitely recommend this fabulous addition to the series. It’s a great read and I can't wait for more!!
Gabriel's journey in stone is a little different than his brothers. Hana and her family have treated him like he was alive keeping him informed of all the changes throughout the years. Nasty sorcerer, Sotiris, wants Hana for his evil plans. Gabriel and his brothers along with Raphael and his vampires. I've never been fond of vampire books, but Ms. Reynolds really makes me like them and want to read her Vampire in America series. Especially to find out why Raphael and Nick hate each other so much.
Another great epilogue where we meet Dragan and future lady love. Plus there is a teaser for the Vampires in Europe series and a meeting with someone named Lachlan.
D.B. Reynolds has created another amazing paranormal world in the Stone Warriors series, with kick-ass characters and a plot that just keeps getting better! From beginning to end this was a captivating read with an amazing twist, or rather "turn" that brings the story back to our favorite vampire, Raphael. The author really amped up the "wow" factor in Gabriel and the set up for what's to come has me anxious for Dragan's book, and then the icing on the cake...Nick's!

Big drop in my enjoyment of this series. I was a bit disappointed with some repetition and dragging. Overall I enjoyed most of Gabriel & Hana's story. It just needed More intensity, Action, Suspense.
The steamy scenes were okay, but ..... just like with the action and suspense, they lacked the intensity to really grab me and keep me completely invested.
I really love the vampire in America series so enjoyed seeing Cyn and Raphael in this book. I haven’t gotten attached to the Stone Warriors series for some reason and this was actually the first one I could finish. If was pretty good. I might go back and read Damien and Kato but... maybe not....the OTT testosterone show really annoys me after awhile. I think if you’re a fan of VIA you will definitely like this book. Gah, that was wishy washy!
Gabriel Halldor is the third of four warrior brothers cursed and locked to live out his existence in a stone statue casing for millennium while the world moved on. Present day Japan is his most recent abode where he's been secreted in a private garden on the grounds of a prominent Japenese Yakuza kingpin. Gabriel's only interaction has been with him and his granddaughter Hana Himura.
When an assassination attempt is targeted at Hana's family, Gabriel finally is able to escape his stone tomb to aid Hana though his role as protector is not the one he wants.
The couple have limited resources though loyalty and money will help them leave Japan though no where is safe except in the USA where Raphael is still the most feared being on the Earth.

3rd installment in the "Stone Warriors", a spin off series of the 'Vampires In America' series.
This author is an auto buy so I was excited to get my grubby hands on this newest installment ESPECIALLY when it factored in Raphael and his crew into the mix.
Loved and appreciated the story line and characters. Had some mixed feelings about Gabriel's personal loyalties and the manner in which the author slanted that. The end result of those mixed feelings for me was that I wasn't a fan of how that all ended though I can't fault the end in general.
I'm a fan of the characters, romance, interaction with secondary characters and of course Cyn, Raphael, & Nick being in the picture. But. The overall story didn't rise to the level other books penned by this author. This story had voids and questionable scenes for me. One totally non-spoiler example of a void is Hana & Irina sparring. Inquiring minds really needed to know how this match up ended. Other scenes that were confusing for me would be spoiler content.
In the end I appreciated this story and loved getting another dose of Stone Warriors & Vampires In America though honestly I felt Gabriel & Hana were lost and overshadowed by Nick & Raphael. Still a solid installments fans of this author will enjoy reading.
Gabriel is book 3 in the Stone Warriors series. Like Damian and Kato, Gabriel is another one of Nick's warriors who was cursed and has been trapped in stone. Unlike the first two Gabriel is found by a family who held some magic and could sense something different about the statue. He is then placed in their garden and there is where he will learn about our world. Hanna is part of the family and when she is younger she is shown the warrior whom she eventually falls in love with. I loved this part of the story. I loved how there was something about Gabriel that she claimed him as her own. So when her need was dire she ran to the statue like she was told and at that point is where she breaks the curse. Gabriel is free and holds close a secret that only Nick is aware of and that is the fact that Gabriel is a Vampire. I have to admit this was my favorite part. After escaping danger Hanna begins to see something is wrong with Gabriel. So when she decides to bring him to see a friend of her Grandfather who resides in Malibu I may have jumped up and down like a crazy woman. Not sure why yet? Malibu is where a delicious Vampire Lord resides with his mate, yes the one and only Raphael and Cyn. Crossing over with the VIA series was awesome. I loved how Raphael and his vampires embraced Gabriel and it was also entertaining putting Nick in the same room with them. Overall an awesome addition to this series and I loved the teaser at the end. The next warrior is something that only exist in myths and the next VIA comes to the states from Scotland.
A fierce warrior, Gabriel Halldor is trapped in stone and lying in darkness for thousands of years. Raised to the life of a warrior. Hana Himura is sent to the one guardian courageous enough to protect her from a sorcerer. They can only be saved from slavery by the most powerful vampire on earth. This powerful and gripping romance pulls readers in and refuses to let go as Gabriel, Hana and Raphael take on the evil sorcerer who turned Nick’s men to stone with a curse. The story is brings the two series, Vampires in America and Stone Warriors together and as usual with this author, readers are compelled to the pages as they hold on to their seats in anticipation of what thrilling event will take place next. The characters are bold, vivid and the stuff fantasies are made of, Gabriel and Hana have strong, electrical chemistry and passion burns hot throughout the story as they give into the desire that’s been simmering between them for years. The readers easily connect with these characters ensuring that they want to know every last detail of their story while the fast page and smooth flowing plot keeps them glued to the pages with lots of exhilarating action, intriguing suspense and witty dialogue that adds depth to the characters and adds a sense of realism to the story. Nick and Raphael add even more enjoyment to the story with their hot as sin selves and their antagonistic attitude toward each other that causes some very heated discussions while planning on how to keep Hana and Gabriel safe. There is not one moment of boredom to be found in this explosive story that includes some spectacular battles and sizzling romance.
I have read every single book by this author and for once I gave her book less than 5 stars in a review. I didn’t not enjoy the melding of these two books beyond Cyn & Raphael and Nico’s connection. The way Hana reacted towards Nico was weird and childish. Loyalty that these characters are supposed to posses was out the window with Gabriel. I was frustrated and annoyed.
This is book 3 in the Stone Warrior series. While this does standalone there are characters from the previous books and Reynolds Vampires in America series mentioned in this book. There is also a series arc that is ongoing from book 1 so I would suggest reading them in order at the very least to get the most enjoyment of this book.
In this book we have Gabriel Halldor. He lived his life as a warrior, a berserker, that reveled in battle. He joined forces with three other warriors and Nico, a sorcerer, as they battled against an evil crazed sorcerer. They banded together as brothers and fought until they were betrayed and cursed by their enemy. Gabriel was encased in stone for a millennium until the exact set of circumstances come together to break the curse.
He’s freed by Hana Himura, the granddaughter of a mob boss. A woman that had been keeping him company since she was a child. Once free, he helps her escape the men chasing her and they make a mad dash around Japan staying one step ahead of the men following them. But everything’s not as it seems with Gabriel and soon Hana takes him to California to ger help from one of the most powerful creatures she knows of.
I really enjoyed this story. There is a lot of action and revisiting of characters from this series and Reynolds vampire series. The relationship between Hana and Gabriel had it’s starts and stops. They are both have feelings for each other before she ever frees him but there are some other things that make their road together a little bumpy.
One of the things I was most excited for in this book was how Reynolds was going to do a crossover with her ViA series. Unfortunately, that was one of the things I liked least in this book. There are a lot of different points of view in this book and I would have rather spent more time with Gabriel and Hana, building their relationship or dealing with the man hunting her and less page time in the heads of others. I felt like I was reading a Vampire of America book at times. Don’t get me wrong, I love that series as well the characters form it, but I was a little disappointed with the amount of book time those characters got. There is even a traditional epilogue featuring the ViA characters that set up their next book. Granted there is one that sets up the next book in this series as well, but I wanted more from the characters we were introduced to in this series.
I don’t want to give any spoilers away but there were other issues I had with Gabriel himself. He seemed so strong and self-sufficient with a clear plan for his future until he gets to California and then his character changed. It had nothing to do with his relationship with Hana, it was more the other characters from the ViA series. I found it kind of hard to believe that he so quickly trusted them and was willing to change so much of his future so quickly. Reynolds tried to explain it away but I must have missed something because it didn’t work for me.
Overall I did enjoy this book and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
This probably would have been so much more enjoyable if I wasn't so fucking ANGRY at most of it. I absolutely love crossovers and series that mix story lines. Love them. But this? To me, this really wasn't much of a crossover. It started as one and then flipped to the other, and became more of a Vampires in America book instead of the Stone Warriors is should have been. As soon as Hana and Gabriel make it to the U.S. and go to Raphael for help, it completely skipped series lines. It was all about Raphael and his people, and how Gabriel is one them now and blah blah blah. When Nico, Damian, and Kato finally show up it was more like they were the side story. But you know what? I could have easily gotten over that. What really made me angry is what happened with Gabriel. I haven't read the Vampires in America series yet (I have them and will get to them soon) and I'm hoping my hatred for Raphael will not last when I get to it. My love for Nico must be strong because I pretty much hated Raphael on principle with the way he treated and talked to/about Nico. Plus, you know, what he did with Gabriel made me so mad.
If anything, Gabriel was the lucky one of his brothers. He was found by somebody that knew he wasn't just a statue and brought to a garden where it was seen to that he be kept up to date on much of how the world was changing. He didn't lack for company with this family as one of them visited often to talk, read to him, or just to be there. Before he heard Nico's call, Gabriel was turned into a vampire against his will and then basically pimped out by his sire to those who could pay to have him fight for them. It's hard for me judge how much I liked him because I still hate him for his decisions. But if I put that aside, or try to anyway, I still think he's my least favorite of the brothers. He was too broody and not much fun.
Hana was okay. Though her attitude towards Nico pissed me off too. What the heck is up with all the females hating on the guy?! I will buy that she knew how to fight because her family was a yakuza family and her grandfather made sure she was trained. But we hardly actually saw her fight so I didn't get why everyone kept going on about how she was some amazing warrior or had great skills and yadda yadda. How would they even know?? I thought it was sweet how she also had that domestic side where she wanted to feed, clothe, and take care of Gabriel.
As odd as it sounds, Hana has been in love with the statue in her grandfather's hidden garden since she was a child. When her grandfather's house is attacked, she does as he orders and runs to Gabriel for safety. Breaking his curse. The next few days the two of them continue to flee the attackers and try to stay hidden. They both already love the other from the years before, but each also thinks there can be nothing between them. To be fair, Gabriel fights his feelings a lot more. While breaking free of his curse should have been a good thing, Gabriel finds himself in more trouble than expected. When that curse was broken, so was the spell that Nico had placed on him long ago to control his vampire side. And it's caught up to him. Hana knows of Raphael thru her grandfather and she knows he's probably the only one who can help. Which is true.
It's only a matter of time before Nico and the others show up demanding to see Gabriel. What they hear from him is not what any of them expected. I also got pretty mad at how even Gabriel treated Nico, so that didn't help anything. While Nico is understandably livid at the situation, it turns out that the one that has been trying to get Hana is none other than Sotiris. Hana has a special sort of gift that can allow sorcerers like him and Nico to double their power by tapping into hers. Way too dangerous of a power to end up in Sotiris's hands. So despite the palpable hatred between Nico and Raphael, a temporary truce of a sort is called until they can take him out and train Hana how to protect herself. Let's just say that doesn't go so well and Hana still gets taken. The plus side to that is that Nico has finally been able to find one of Sotiris's hideouts. Another huge fight is waged with a debatable victory. Nico is even more furious to have lost his enemy yet again, but it was his parting words that had spiked into his heart. He has one warrior left to find and it sounds like his enemy has beaten him to it.
Even though I was so mad at this one, it was still good and I can't wait to get the next one.
The latest in D.B. Reynolds’ Stone Warriors series is an exciting crossover between the men cursed by an evil sorcerer to spend millennia trapped in stone and our favorite vampire couple from Vampires in America.
When young Hana Himura – granddaughter of Japanese mobster – first saw Gabriel Halldor, he was trapped in his stone prison. That didn’t stop her from admiring him while sitting at his feet to read to him.
Knowing she was gifted and that a powerful sorcerer wanted to imprison Hana, her grandfather raised her as a warrior. When he can no longer protect her, he sends Hana to Gabriel. But their enemy is far too powerful for them to defeat alone, and so they seek the help of the most powerful vampire lord on earth.
Once Gabriel in freed from his stone confinement, the attraction that had been growing between him an Hana is easily ignited. He tries to fight it for various reasons, but she’s a woman who knows what she wants, and she wants her Stone Warrior.
Chapters of hostile intrigue are filled with tangible suspense and danger, while the steamier parts – which include the main couple but are not limited to them – sizzle and scorch the pages. Gabriel is every bit as possessive and caring as Hana, who was his perfect match. I loved the twist involving Gabriel’s development and how Hana supported him.
The plot was ingenious and well fleshed out. Vampires in America fans will surely love Raphael and Cyn’s involvement in this well-paced, exciting paranormal romantic suspense which I think would make a big screen hit not only because of its engaging story but the rich imagery the author provides.
As with the previous books, we catch up with the other couples as well as Nick Katsaros, who is now seeing the benefits of having a loving partner at his side. I can’t wait for the series’ next installment!
Gabriel is book #3 of the Stone Warriors series by D.B. Reynolds. It is a standalone, full-length paranormal romance. Told from several points of view with a happy ending for the couple and a preview of the next book.
5 stars - Great cross over of two fab fav series. Well written, nicely plotted and great to catch up with Raphael and Cyn from the VIA series and the other Stone Warriors
As a reader I am not much for Paranormal Romance books. Every so often I figure why not try something different.
I was surprised how much I enjoyed Gabriel. The author brought two world together that were able to mash into mix of wonder, passion, adventure and romance. Reader will be pulled into the world of Magic, vampires, Japanese mafia, and two enemies that have to work together to fight the darkest of evils.
The story will pull readers in with Hana who is devoted to someone she has never met but has seen every day of her life. Gabriel is a warrior from another times or place who has watched as Hana grown hoping to one day hold her. Each character is strong, has the ability to connect with readers.
The one down side is the endless pages of very graphic sex. While I understand that sex is part of the paranormal romance or in fact all romance stories. The sex scenes take over a majority of the book that will leave some reader wishing for more background story, understanding of Hana's gift instead readers are giving a endless amount of biting, sex and graphic moments of blood.
I would have giving this book a solid 5 if the story could have had less sex and more Hana's magical gift and teaching of her powers.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher ImaJinn Books for the advance copy of D.B. Reynolds Gabriel.
Book 3 in the Stone Warriors series, Gabriel, is a well written, dynamic adventure with fabulous characters and an edge of your seat storyline. I loved everything about this story and look forward to reading many more books by this author. If you haven’t read D.B Reynolds you are truly missing out!!
Get out of the way Gabriel your blocking my view of Raphael, lol!! This was a great addition to this series and we saw some more plot movement and back story in to the curse Sotoris placed on this group. Gabriel and Hana has great chemistry and I loved that they had history, if you can call it that. You get all you expect out of this authors work here romance, suspense, comedy, fights and steamy moments. If you couldn’t tell from my first line...we get Cyn and Raphael and I’m in loveeeeeee. Anytime you work them in and it works for the story I’m a happy gal. I can’t wait to see what’s happening with Dragan and Maeve and of course I would love to see Nick get his own HEA, preferably with a vampire. This was a complimentary advanced reader copy provided by the author publisher in exchange for a honest review via Netgalley.
Highly enjoyable and a great crossover (except Nick was uber annoying in this one lol)! Eeep it's a crossover book! With Raphael and Cyn...sign me up! Can't wait for this Halloween treat!
Third book in the series is Gabriel's book. Before he got trapped in stone he was a great warrior who fell victim to a vampire. He was turned into the same creature of the night until he met Nicodemus, who used a spell to help Gabriel keep his vampiric attributes suppressed. As he gets trapped like his brothers his vampire lies dormant. His statue ends up in Japan in a hidden garden owned by the Himura family. They know about magic because through the generations of their family members showed signs of latent magic. Hana Himura played in the secret garden since she was a child, she held one sided conversations and read to the stone warrior. When the house of her grandfather is attacked she flees and seeks refuge with the statue knowing that the men are looking for her, because of what she is. Gabriel comes alive and breaks his stone prison to help Hana to stay alive. Hana has been trained by her grandfather in martial arts and she has made sure to have safe places all around the city. So she and Gabriel flee and hunker down until they get faked IDs to leave the country. I loved Gabriel very much and thought that he was chosing wisely. I found the world building well done and Hana as a woman spoke to me. As this series is a spin-off from the Vampires in America, characters from ViA popped up here and there. Again, the sex is over the top, but who cares. The men are to die for, so insta love and size matters gets the "I ignore it" price. I love the introduction of the next warrior at the end of the book.
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!
The cover is beautiful and matches the series well!
This is the 3rd book in this series, but it also overlaps in the Vampires in America series because my favorite couple Raphael and Cyn are also in this book. This is for adults only due to the vampire violence and steamy content. I do highly recommend reading both series in the order intended to get all the glorious details and become so wrapped up in this world that you want more!
This book is Gabriel and Hana’s story! As always in D.B.’s books, it is full of action, trouble, and passion. Hana has a unique gift that has the evil sorcerer after her. Hana has always loved Gabriel as he has loved her. They are both running to stay ahead of trouble, but Hana knows they need help. She turns to Raphael who knew her grandfather for help. There are battles, injuries, trouble, and more. I couldn’t put it down until I finished it.
I highly recommend to any paranormal fans who love passionate vampires, magic, curses, and more!!!
Gabriel is book three in D.B. Reynolds Stone Warriors series, I have not read the previous entries in this series and this did prove to be a problem for me as not only did the book heavily feature other characters it also contained a crossover with a different series that I have also not read.
Gabriel Halldor is the third of four warrior brothers cursed to live out his existence in a stone statue casing for millennium while the world moves on around him. his statue currently stands in modern day Japan and he is finally awakened just in time to save Hana from assassins seeking her family's annihilation.
The duo must battle their way to America where salvation may be found with limited resources and foes lurking close by.
While there were elements of this book I enjoyed I did find myself confused at certain scenes and wondering why they had been included. there is a crossover with another series by the author that bogs down a book already heavy with different points of view.
I received an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Margaret Atwood on vampires, “You used to know where you stood with them-smelly, evil, undead-but now there are virtuous vampires and disreputable vampires, and sexy vampires and glittery vampires, and none of the old rules about them are true any more.”
That is Raphael’s cue to make an entrance; for he is not smelly (thank goodness), he is not disreputable, and he is definitely not glittery. He is sexy and powerful and totally capable of aiding Hana and Gabriel in their fight against Sotiris. Sorcerer Nicodemus Katsaros is the warrior who led the others in battle in ancient times and has been searching for the four stone warriors since. Nico’s magic will aid Hana in developing her magic control. He will also fight Sotiris along with Raphael.
This offering in The Stone Warriors series starts off with Hana running for her life with Gabriel, newly released from his stone prison, and hardly gives the reader a breath as they fight their way to safety from Japan to Malibu where they hope Raphael can help vampire Gabriel. However no place is safe for Hana as long as the evil sorcerer Sotiris is after her.
Once you start with this series it becomes addictive. The action, suspense, the sensuous sex, the romance and love all add up to pure addiction. You can easily read this book as a standalone but I don’t recommend that. You need to start with THE STONE WARRIORS:DAMIEN and then KATO. I recommend this not because this book lacks sufficient background but because these two warriors appear in this book and I want you to be immersed in their stories as well as Gabriel’s. Then we can all wait anxiously for Stone Warrior Dragan. I also have it on good authority that my heart throb, book boyfriend Nick Katsaros will get his book also in this series.
If you are new to this author you will want to read more of Raphael and his mate Cyn in the Vampires in America Series. Start with RAPHAEL and enjoy sexy, powerful non-sparkly vampires and the women who bring them to their knees..
I received this book free for review from the publisher.
This is the third of the warriors and starts in Japan before moving on the Malibu. Generations ago, Hanna’s great-great grandfather, a minor wizard, found Gabriel’s statue inside a volcanic cave. Since then, her family has been protecting it and researching how to remove the curse and free him.
All they know is that it takes a woman’s tears and her begging him to save her. Hanna is that woman, but who she needs to be save from is the nemesis of the Stone Warriors: Sotiris. He has murdered her grandfather and destroyed her home so that now she is on the run with Gabriel just trying to stay alive.
Hanna is a very resourceful woman, highly trained by her grandfather in everything she needs to know to survive. Gabriel is not just a warrior, but had been turned into a vampire before joining Nick. Nick had removed his vampirism but it has come back when he changed from a statue. Now he’s afraid Hanna will reject him out of fear.
Footnote: 1) This has a very strong connection to the main series: ‘Vampires in America’, so much so that it may as well be a book in that series instead of the offshoot: ‘Stone Warriors’. A lot of it involves Cyn & Raphael and his territory since Hanna and Gabriel take refuge with them.
Fave scenes: the disappearing scarf, Gabriel & Kato’s reunion, Hanna’s panic attack and Sotiris & Nick’s magical battle.
I enjoyed this book because of the integral part Raphael and Cyn played in this story. I get all warm and fizzy feeling every time Raphael calls Cyn lubimaya. Raphael has been one of my favorite vampires of all time is a testament to the adage that power is sexy. Raphael is definitely powerful and sexy.
As usual, we leave Nick still trying to destroy Sotiros with a segue into Dragan's story. I am anxious to see who will be Nick's HEA.
OMG......................I'm loving this series. Thanx to a recommendation from a friend I read the first two and got hooked. Now I'm looking to grab other books.
Gabriel was as alpha as you can get, but with a soft heart. Hana was perfect for him.
