Public relations specialist Paige Brooks has been tasked with ensuring Cole Barrington's trip to a charity event at a tropical island runs smoothly. Once burned by the handsome producer, being around him again is both a nightmare and a dream come true.
Unable to hide her irritation, she is shocked when he promises to take her over his knee if she doesn't change her attitude. In spite of her bravado, the warning leaves her heart racing, her cheeks blushing, and her panties soaked.
Flying towards the Bahamas, the small sea plane is forced to land in the sheltered cove of a tiny island. They quickly realize if they're going to survive they must work together. The intense passion they once shared quickly resurfaces, and Cole doesn't hold back, spanking her soundly, and decadently devouring every inch of her body.
But suddenly confronted with a ruthless gang determined to find a long lost treasure, the tropical forest is their only refuge, and the lush foliage carries its own set of dangers.
Protecting Paige from the thugs is one thing, but preventing her from acting impulsively is something else altogether...

Gotta love Manix. It strikes me that there doesn't seem to be a explanation for the stars that are given. So I thought I'd start giving my take on it. 1 horrible no redeeming qualities. 2 there are redeeming qualities. 3 good worth reading, or well written but not my cup of tea. 4 great but there's something off. 5 loved it.
A lovely fun romance, I want to say so much more about this story but I absolutely hate spoilers, so I won't go into details.
I've recently had several conversations with people that have said that one of the things they'd like to see in a review is if I'd read/listen to it again. So I'm now adding that to my reviews. And yes I'll be listening again.
The narrator brings the story to life.

'Protecting Paige' is a standalone second chance, enemies to lovers read by Maggie Carpenter. You see, Paige and Cole dated a year ago until she walked in on him and another woman. Since then, she's done everything in her power not to see or think about him. That is until her boss sends her on an assignment to accompany him to a celebrity charity event on Sandman Cove in the Caribbean and this is where the adventure begins. They've already run into trouble before they barely get started and wind up making arrangements to catch a ride with their friend Jack on his seaplane. I did say this was an adventure, right? Ok, more problems arise and the plane winds up going down at sea. Luckily, Jack is able to coast the plane onto a deserted island. So not only was Paige upset to be having to work this charity event with Cole but now they're trapped but wait, there's more. Jack is immediately kidnapped by a group of criminals who are hunting treasure on the island. Needless to say, Paige and Cole are able to refrain from being snatched but now we have a mystery as well. Paige is a bit naïve and Cole has a bit of a heavy hand so there is no shortage of domestic discipline involved. Ms. Carpenter has brought her talent to the fore in melding all these elements into a great read with characters who virtually grow emotionally before our eyes.
Let the adventure begin as Cole and Paige are expected to leave LA for Sandman Cove in the Caribbean, but they run into trouble before getting to the airport. They have to make other arrangements where they meet a friend, Jack in Miami to catch a ride with him on his seaplane. This trip keeps on giving, when they run into a storm causing them to go down at sea, and Jack manages to coast the plane to a nearby island. Later, Jack was taken prisoner by treasure pirates, but Cole and Paige managed to evade escape. It did leave them trapped on the island to search for the treasure and further realize their feelings for each other, since they had an undeniable chemistry. They were left to solve the mystery of the treasure while Jack was taken away, and he would be able to answer the questions of who was after him. An amazing romantic suspense mystery that will keep turning pages as quickly as you can to find out what will happen next, because there was always a change on the horizon. So many twists and turns you do not want to miss this story.

This was such a fun read that I just couldn’t put it down until I finished it. It had a little bit of everything, over and above a sweet second chance romance. Paige and Cole had spent a hot and heavy romantic week away together a year ago, but something Paige saw after their return caused her to reject his further attempts at contact. A year later some extenuating circumstances had them flying to an event together on a small plane with a pilot friend of Cole’s. This is when their most amazing action adventure began. Imagine the cloak of the Bermuda Triangle mystery over and above the search for a pirate’s treasure hidden on a deserted island infested with deadly snakes and a not so wild monkey! Shades of an Indiana Jones type of adventure, but with some spankings, some tantalizing sex and a lot of monkey business. Maggie’s authored another entertaining read. A great way to start the new year. 4 Stars I received a free copy of this book from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review.
An enemies to lovers action adventure romance? Count me in! Paige and Cole dated for a short time, when she walked in on him with another woman. Devastated, she spends the next year avoiding him like the plague. When her PR firm sends her to a Caribbean island to work with Cole, she is angry, but vows to act like the professional she is. What happens next is a real adventure, with a happy ever after guaranteed.
Maggie Carpenter knows how to write a romance with a liberal sprinkle of spankings and steam. Protecting Paige is another of these, without becoming tired. Paige is a handful, and Cole has lots of patience, as well as a hard hand. The island setting adds to the adventure, and their HEA is beautifully written. I truly enjoyed this book, and read it in one sitting. It is not to be missed.

A tropical island, a treasure hunt and a couple with great chemistry. What's not to love? Miss Carpenter did it again. She created an enticing tale that is wonderfully balanced. There is mystery, a little bit of danger, witty dialogue and, of course, very hot steamy scenes interwoven with delicous spankings. The relationship of Cole and Paige draws you in from the very first moment. Cole is a dominant and has his hands full with Paige who has a slight tendency to act before she thinks. Both are very likeable characters, I had to laugh more than once about the conversations. If you like spanking romances then don't hesitate and buy this book.
K so the story starts w Cole being w Jasmine 2 days after returning from a trip with Paige. He explained it off as they weren't exclusive but wanted to see where he and paige were going but bc of what paige saw she didn't answer calls. Sorry but even if there wasn't exclusive status if you want to explore something with a person you dont sleep with a different person. His explanation solved nothing and paige became a doormat.
Cole & Paige - Will they survive for a HEA or not?
If you love romance, action, adventure, suspense on a tropical island then let Maggie Carpenter take you on a journey with Cole & Paige's steamy holiday romance story. They are stranded on a tiny island with criminals after them. Can Cole protect Paige or will her impulsive behaviour doom them?.

Paige Brooks walks into reception area of the public relations company that she works and she sees Cole. He is last person she wants to see. Cole had attempted to contact after their time together but didn't know she wouldn't return his calls. They ended in a small plane that went down on an island and he had to protect her while some men was on the same island not knowing why they were there
This book captures the imagination, great lead characters. The book is a joy to read with a real storyline, moments of real humour and discipline. Worth reading Cole and co.
I usually like Maggie Carpenter's books but this one took me awhile to get into. Especially with Cole. Right off the bat, he ticked me off but as the story went on, I slowly started liking him. The story picked up nicely and I was happy he redeemed himself.
This is terrible. The story is not well developed and the dialogue feels like it was written by a middle schooler. Perhaps if the story was better written, it might have been more palatable but it’s not even remotely enjoyable. This was a DNF.
YOU ARE FAR FROM A NOBODY. YOU’RE MY PRECIOUS TREASURE
Once again, Ms. Carpenter has spun an amazing, page turning tale, with mystery, suspense, danger, a freak storm, thugs, buried treasure, and romance. There is a great cast of characters, but especially the chemistry between the Hero and heroine.
What rotten luck when Paige Brooks must fill in for a coworker who breaks her ankle. Now Paige will have to cover the event like she did the year before on a private island. The event is a fun raiser for charities and will have all the whos-who hob-nobbing. That will include movie producer Cole Barrington. The year before Paige and Cole had a week of passion that went south quickly upon their return to the states. “Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.”
From the frying pan into the fire, if it isn’t one problem after another, including a major problem on the freeway preventing them arriving on time at LAX, and having to divert and take a small private plane to Miami and then boarding a seaplane to the island. “Civility will reign on this trip.” A freak storm in the Bermuda Triangle will force a landing at a secluded island, but at least they are safe or are they.
The plot will take on many challenges as Jack (the pilot,) Cole and Paige are forced from the sky to a remote island. Jack will insist on them removing their luggage, blankets, flashlights, and a hamper of food and hiding it, and for Cole and Paige to go to a more secluded part of the beach away from the plane. Trouble is on the way, and it will leave Cole and Paige hiding and take cover as Jack is taken away. A letter, a notebook, and sunken treasure will take this story into an amazing adventure of discovery, life, and death situations, and allow Cole and Paige to reconnect, rehash issues, rely on each other, and discover that they have feelings for each other.
Along the journey, Paige will submit to Cole’s dominance, accept his punishment, and rekindle their relationship. “That’s precisely what I am, a judge of naughty behavior and the chastisement that’s warranted. “

This is a love story, a mystery, a treasure hunt, with Indiana Jones-like qualities. The characters are well developed. The scenery well described and the storyline well done. If any of this sounds interesting, come to paradise.
The action adventure side of the story was pretty good, although a few times it pushes the limits of reality. I had mixed feelings for the characters. Early on Cole left a lot to be desired in a male lead, but by the end he had managed to redeem himself. Paige was okay, a little quick to forgive Cole, but still a likeable lead female. The mystery of the lost treasure was well written and kept me interested to the end. The author also did a really good job with the detail put into creating the jungle setting.
I received an ARC of this book from Stormy Night Publications.
As always Miss Carpenter never fails to keep me glued to her fab books I was utterly riveted this book left me spellbound it was fabulously written and beautifully told. the characters are outstanding even at though at times Cole just drove me nuts especially with his explanation to Paige why he cut contact, yes he does redeem himself but it also made me feel which I personally Love.
I received a copy from Stormy Night Publications and I voluntarily reviewed this book. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 While I liked the plot, some of the story is really outrageous. I liked Cole until he gave his explanation on what happened to cause Paige to cut contact with him but he redeems himself later in the book. Paige caved and accepted his explanation and forgave him fairly quickly. The story is well written and characters are developed but (now the explanation for the outrageousness) who in their right mind would stop and give spankings and have several bouts of sex while criminals are after them? Overall it is a good read as long as you leave your common sense behind and read it as a fantasy story.

I strongly suggest checking out the fabulous trailer for this book on YouTube. The book alone is genius but the video is mind blowing. The author and book cover sold me! Paige Brooks is a beautiful, very successful public relations specialist who had a one week fling a year ago on a tropical island with the handsome movie producer Cole Barrington. Paige thought they would continue their steamy relationship when they returned to Los Angeles, but when she discovered Cole with another woman, it broke her heart to realise their relationship was not exclusive. Though Cole tried to contact her, Paige refused to talk to him; refused to allow him to hurt her ever again. A Year later, Paige is forced to work with Cole again, and again sparks fly. In fact, sparks fly quite frequently throughout this story as Cole remembers how impetuous Paige can be. She often makes hasty decisions without first giving thought to her safety and well-being. Cole has a cure for this kind of behavior, and Paige is fine with it. On their way to work this project on the same island they were on together last year, a strange cloud forms as they approach the Bermuda Triangle, forcing their seaplane to crash land on a remote deserted island. Cole will do anything and everything he can to keep Paige safe, whether it is from criminals in search of hidden pirate's treasure, dangerous venomous animals, or from her own self-destructive behavior. I truly believe this is the best of Maggie Carpenter; until her next book is released. I hope you do as well. Here is the YouTube site: https://youtube/pWWbJrDYDA
A story that starts out pushing Paige’s boundaries and keeps getting more and more exciting. The writing is very good, the story line interesting, and the characters' situation changed often enough to keep the book interesting. The characters are well created and very engaging. This book was a joy to read.
I really enjoyed this romantic treasure hunting adventure. I loved the characters and the story is very entertaining. The love scenes are pretty hot and so are the spankings. I like the writing style and am looking forward to reading more by this author.
