Nádasdy Ádám a megszemélyesítés költője. Minden fontos dolog – a magány, a szerelem, a küzdelem – hirtelen személlyé változik verseiben, és minden személyből fogalom lesz. Jelképek erdeje helyett most párás trópusi őserdőkön, árapály-mosta partokon át vezet a versek útja. Olyan idegen tájakon, amiket csak hasonlatokkal tehetünk otthonossá.

Nádasdy Ádám hét éve jelentkezett legutóbb verseskötettel. A Magvető Kiadó a legújabb verseket tartalmazó Nyírj a hajamba című könyvvel a hetvenéves szerzőt köszönti.

This book was the first from Nádasdy but not the last - I said when I ended the reading. Yes. And I read and other Nádasdy's book after the first.
Now I am sure: Nádasdy Ádám is a fantastic Hungarian writer/poet.

Szerelmes vagyok Nádasdy Ádámba. Egy felolvasás alatt tudtam meg, hogy van ez a kötete, és találtam legalább négy olyan művet ami nagyon tetszett. Jó volt. Nagyon.

Some of the strongest Hungarian poetry I've read in years. Very wide-ranging, especially for such a short volume, but still cohesive. You get both incredibly up-close and intimate poems, and blatantly political poems, on occasion even simultaneously. Great visuality, strong feeling, the open admission of vulnerability and the strength that comes from it.

There is a rather strong tonal shift at around page 32. Some of the poems in the latter half of the book did not work as well for me, but overall this collection still had an incredibly high "blew me away" rate. A great step forward not only for the author but also for Hungarian poetry in general, and I'm very happy it's a queer person doing this. :)

I will be rereading this collection many times, I expect. It's also part of the great Hungarian tradition of poets producing some of their best work when they are older (János Arany, Ottó Orbán...). Though I wish him 120 years of life, at least!

Source of the book: Present from my mom. Also I know the author cursorily from my time doing my theoretical linguistics MA, but he never actually taught me and I haven't been in touch with him since then.
