Welcome to Apple Trial, Arkansas. Something must surely be in the water in this small town. Women are tossing their inhibitions out the window and the men are grasping at what to do about it!

Book 1 - Through the Wall

She doesn’t want wild and raunchy, just a little spice…

Stephanie Faulkner listens to her neighbor’s nightly sexcapades through her bedroom wall. What used to make her blush now has her reaching for her vibrator. But she’s had enough self-fulfillment and now wants the real thing.

He wants commitment and long-term, not a quick roll…

The only woman Parker Madison ever wanted for long-term was Stephanie...but she's off-limits. He’s tried to find a substitute but there just isn’t another woman like her. Now that she's available, if he gives her time to get over her ex-husband...will he finally get his long-desired chance?

Short-term doesn't lead to long term. Or does it…?

But when Stephanie digs up the courage to ask Parker for something a little exciting and spicy, he nervously rejects her. Still, she sets out to get what she wants—a little sexcapade of her very own. No commitment. It's just sex, right?

Parker knows he could never be satisfied with having Stephanie temporarily. But as she continues to tempt him and he finds it harder to resist, he begins to think short-term might be better than nothing at all. Unless he can convince her into more.

Keri Ford brings sexy contemporary romance to the American South. With a sprinkling of men in suits and women in high heels, you’ll most likely find four-wheeler riding, ball cap wearing fellas trying to sweet-talk sundress wearing ladies in Keri’s books. Glass of sweet tea at your elbow while you read is not required, but strongly recommended.

Cute, sexy... and FREE!!! There were a few grammatical errors, however... and I felt as if the author could have improved upon the story through the effective use of transitional words and phrases & by adopting a more fluid writing style. Still, this novella was a satisfying read.... *3/5 stars*

Rating: 7.5 out of 10 - GOOD READ!

First line:
Summer in the south was like living in a sauna 24/7.

Memorable Scenes:
- breakfast scene > This scene made a lasting impression on me.

Neighbors, friends and coworkers Stephanie Faulkner and Parker Madison are about to take their friendship to another level at Stephanie’s instigation. She wants Parker and isn’t taking no for an answer.

The star of THROUGH THE WALL for me was the heroine Stephanie Faulkner. Most of the time it’s the hero who stands out for me in the stories I read and in this book, while Parker isn’t too shabby, Stephanie definitely stole the show. She’s smart, sweet and determined.

Keri Ford was a new to me author, once again found via Twitter. I saw a mention of her debut at Turquoise Morning and once I read the blurb I was a goner. Contemporary romance with a friends-to-lovers trope? I didn’t know how fast to hit that buy-button and I’m so very glad I did because it led me to a lovely read.

One thing that really stood out to me in THROUGH THE WALL was the humor that was there from the very start. I really like Keri's voice a lot and she made me instantly like Stephanie. As far as tropes go…you say: friends-to-lovers and I immediately say: Yes, please! And Keri Ford's THROUGH THE WALL is one of the better ones I've recently read with this trope.

My first taste of Keri’s Ford’s work has certainly left me wanting more. THROUGH THE WALL was a quick, enjoyable and well-written story even if the ending was rather sudden. Still, in the short span of the story Keri Ford managed to put her Apple Trail series on my radar and I'll definitely be looking out for the future books.

Favorite Quotes:
She licked the last bit of salt from her now empty plastic cup and eyed the fine piece of hardened, tanned flesh prowling through the crowd. Yes, prowling. Parker took long strides, his eyes always searching and looking around; his mouth perfectly kicked up in this little grin that made the butterflies in her belly smile.

Parker breathed and continued working at talking himself out of it. A few moments of fun. Catch a bit of ass and apparently, possibly, spank some of it, too. Not how he’d wanted Stephanie Faulkner all these years. She was supposed to be a slow and torturous unwrapping. Hours spent learning each creamy, soft inch of her skin. Time taken to see what set her off and what made her beg and ache for more.

Stephanie is newly divorced and she wants some un-vanilla sex and she wants it with her neighbor, boss, and best friend Parker. You see, her bedroom wall backs up to Parker's wall and she’s had to listen to him “entertain” a variety of women over the last year. She’s tired of listening and self pleasuring and decides it’s time to take some action and get what she wants for herself. So, she propositions Parker for no strings attached sex expecting him to jump on it because he doesn’t do long term relationships. She doesn’t expect him to say they both need to think about it and leave her wanting.

Parker was surprised by Stephanie’s offer and wonders if he wasn’t a fool for jumping on it. Problem is Parker wants more, he’s wanted more from Stephanie since he first laid eyes on her. Except at that time she was his ex-best friend’s girlfriend, then fiancée, and then wife. Parker doesn’t want to be the rebound guy, he wants to be the forever guy and he thinks he’ll have to work his charm to get Stephanie to agree.

This is such a fun, fast, and thoroughly enjoyable friends to lover’s story. While it is an extremely short read Keri managed to make me care very much for these two characters. She gave us just enough back story to understand their ongoing relationship and then created some totally hot scenes (and at least one of them wasn’t about sex).

That being said, the sex scenes were steamy and pretty un-vanilla, just like Stephanie wanted. However, it was quite clear that there was more to this couple than scorching sex.

Through The Wall is the first in Keri Ford’s “Uninhibited in Apple Trail Arkansas’ series and I’m already looking forward to reading the next one. She’s a fairly new published author but I think with her writing style she’ll be giving us some great reads for a long, long time.

This is an engaging, relatively short read. It started my 'friend-to-lovers' romance binge but I haven't quite found a comparable read.

The characters are best friends, neighbours, and work colleagues. Plus he was her ex-husbands best friend before they both walked in on her ex cheating.

So let us just say that these two have a past.

It seems like a simple enough story of two friends who fall for each other but Keri Ford writes this in a more complex way that is sure to keep you turning pages. It isn't your average romance. I really enjoyed the conflicts and struggles each character has to face and the sex was hot. Almost as hot as when she sits on that hot baking pan during a make out session. Oh yes.

This book appears to be the beginning of a series. I believe that it's likely we were introduced to the heroine of the next book in this story, and if so book 2 looks promising. Book 3 was just released April 18, 2011. Personally, I'll be looking into reading the next instalments.

If you want a hot read that will make you feel all warm and happy after you read it, consider reading this book.

What a fun and quick story this was! I read about it on Jen’s blog Not Now…I’m Reading! and was immediately drawn to the idea behind the story. You have Stephanie, recently divorced and looking for a few non-vanilla nights in bed. Basically, she wants some wild and raunchy sex. She feels that Parker would be the perfect candidate for this. Why does she feel that way? Because she’s witnessed his previous ‘encounters’ and these ‘encounters’ have been very um…vocal. No, she’s not a voyeur or anything creepy like that. You see, Stephanie’s apartment is right next door to Parker’s apartment…and their bedrooms are back to back.

Parker was Stephanie’s ex-husbands best friend. They are no longer buddies because just as the bastard was deceiving Stephanie, he was deceiving Parker. Stephanie and Parker turned to each other for support and friendship. They eat breakfast together almost every day, they work together and they even go out together. But it has all been strictly platonic…until now. Stephanie doesn’t feel as though she wants a relationship with Parker – she just wants fun sex. But Parker has other things in mind. He’s been patiently waiting for Stephanie to be ready to date again because he wants her. But he wants more than just sex – he wants all she has to offer.

Yeah…right there…awkward situation. But it all plays out very well. I really enjoyed how Keri Ford wrote these two characters. Through the Wall is a very short little story yet I felt a connection to these two. And there is a little scene in the kitchen at breakfast time that had me giggling the whole way though. Really really funny.

Through the Wall is the first in Keri’s ‘Uninhibited in Apple Trail Arkansas’ series. The series’ name makes me grin…and this book makes me want to check out the rest of the series. Only three books available so far though. The second book, On the Fence, was released in February 2011 and In the Hay was released this week! I quite enjoyed Keri’s writing voice, the story was cute and the lovin’ was steamy. Overall a good read when you are in the mood to read an entire story in one sitting…and *blush* a little while you’re doing so.

Slow and steady wins the race, right? Sure, but sometimes it's good to rush.

While Stephanie knows that Parker isn't into anything long-term, that doesn't mean that she can't at least take him out for a spin. Hearing what goes on in his apartment on a nightly basis, has her curiosity and arousal peaked. After a few margaritas it's time to take the plunge and ask him to show her what she's been missing while she was with her cheating bastard of a now ex-husband.

A shoulder to lean on and an ear to listen was how Parker managed to get so close with Stephanie after her disastrous marriage. Their friendship being the only real constant for either of them, has been the one thing he feared losing the most. After being there for the lows of her divorce, Parker thought giving it more time before making a move would be the way to go. Perhaps after a year he would take the next step and show her how he feels... or perhaps not. Stephanie forces his hand by coming on to him first and inadvertently shows him what he's been missing.

An unabashedly sexy friends-to-lovers story!

One of my favorite sub-genre’s in romance to read is the friends-to-lovers story. The relationships already have a history with a foundation based on friendship where the adventure is in how they take it to the next level and the fear of it not surviving. I'm impressed with the amount of content this short story has and can only complain for more. With just enough sexual tension and a little situational comedy thrown in, this story just flies through the pages.

I am definitely a fan of Ms. Ford's writing style and will absolutely continue on with the Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas series.

SHORT SPICEY STORY

Liked this short story about Stephanie a recent divorcee. Her husband Jake had cheated on her. She lives next door to Parker her husband's best friend. Stephanie has got the hots for Parker, and decides to pluck up the courage and ask him to have sex with her. She's just looking for a little spice, and going by the different amount of women that Parker has in his bed, she knows he's good. She has heard the moans and sounds of pleasure through the paper thin walls often enough.
I liked this short story, I was hoping it would be a bit hotter than it was, there was an awful lot of both leads thinking should they or shouldn't they. Jake didn't want to be the rebound guy. Stephanie didn't want Parker to think she was after permanency. I guess the author was trying to build the sexual tension, but seeing as this is a short story. That went on a bit too long. But this is worth a read.

The first novella in Keri Ford's Apple Trail series. Just a hot little short read set in Arkansas. Stephanie has the hots for her neighbor, best friend and boss, Parker Madison. She has wanted to be more but kept chickening out. Parker was her ex-husband's friend and it never seemed to be the right time. But this one night at a neighborhood BBQ she makes her move and...

Well, it's too short to give the whole story. Obviously, since it's a short novella, there isn't a lot of structure to the story. But to be fair for what it is I guess 4 stars would be appropriate. I would, of course, have liked to see things fleshed out more.

Cute if you like this sort of thing; basically just a series of mishaps leading up to sex and a HEA. Was interesting to see the woman as the aggressor (even if she did still have to be sexually inexperienced and clumsy in her seduction to maintain "good girl" status) while the man held off for more.

I was wary of reading a "short" story. I like the longer versions where we get what happens after they get together. But this was really well done. Parker and Stephanie had a history, a really strong friendship so the outcome was not completely out of left field. Good stuff :)

I really loved this short story. Very nice. I kind of hazed out of the sex scenes though. I end up reading so much of it that it gets boring sometimes. Anyway, liked the story and would not mind a longer continuation.

My Thoughts:

Stephanie use to be married to Parker's bestfriend since grade school. So throughout their entire dating relationship and marriage, Parker has been in the picture. When Stephanie and Parker walked in on her ex-husband cheating on her, Parker and Stephanie decided to remain friends and kick the ex-husband out of their lives.

Since the divorce Parker has been Stephanie's main support system. Having her over for breakfast to ensure she would eat and joining her for dinner to help her through the lonely times. He has also been plotting the timing of when he will make his move to take Stephanie as his forever.

Stephanie finally has built up the courage to ask Parker for some steamy sexin. She's never really had anything besides plain vanilla...some missionary with a splash of her being on top...and she wants to try some stuff a little outside of the box. Stephanie has also always had a thing for Parker, and knowing how experienced she is and how safe she feels with him, she believes he would be the perfect person to give her that spice.

These two had great chemistry. You could tell that the truly cared for each other from the very beginning and even though Parker had his reservations, you knew it was just a matter of time before they took that step over the friends line.

I loved that they knew each other for so long before this novella came to be. It helped things move along wonderfully and not feel so rushed like so many other novellas. There was also some funny moments...let's just say a hot biscuit pan and an almost bare bottom do not mix very well! :-D

The only thing I had a hard time grasping was the fact that Parker was biding his time to make his move on Stephanie. He had liked her from the very moment he saw her, and he fell in love with her throughout the years of her marriage. Yet, here he is sleeping with every woman he possibly can. I can understand him doing that prior to her getting a divorce, but after the fact was just strange. Who plans to make a move on someone while having sex with all the other women. How would that show that he loved her the entire time? It just didn't click in my head...but with that being said, it was really the only thing that turned me off with this novella.

Overall:

This was a very fun read! I loved Stephanie's personality and the love that Parker had for her. I loved that he was her support throughout the tough times she went through after the divorce and it just made sense that they would eventually turn into more than just friends and a nice, spicy fling. I would highly suggest this novella to any of you reads who enjoy a good, steamy contemporary romance and you want to get through a quick read in an afternoon. :-)

Looking forward to checking out the other novellas of this series! :-D

Ouch! Keri Ford’s Apple Trail novella, “Through the Wall,” sizzles. Ford knows how to heat it up between the covers, or in this case the wall.
This tale is a reversal in the usual friends becoming more saga. This has the noble guy, Parker, playing all noble, resolute in his decision to wait just a few more months before he suggests slowing moving things forward with Stephanie. He’s waited this long, what’s a few more months? I mean after his BFF Jake saw her first, by about a minute, he stepped down for them. He even kept quiet when Jake and Stephanie got engaged, then married. Never once did he let on how deep his feelings for her ran.
When he and Stephanie caught Jake and Stephanie’s BFF going at it like wild monkeys in her apartment, he was there for her every step of the way, supportive, but never letting on, never crossed the line from friendship. Although Jake is history.
So, after hearing Parker’s rather vocal bedroom activities over the last half year or so, thanks to the thin walls between their apartments. Stephanie is determined she wants some of that too. Who better than her BFF, who obviously enjoys more than vanilla missionary and by the way fills out those Levi’s, to help her see what she missed all that time with Jake, who engendered about as much excitement in bed as watching paint dry? He’s not into commitment; his lack of a long-term relationship with any woman is indicative of that right? Just as the constant stream of women through his bed is, right?
Idea in head and a four margaritas later, she finally gets up the nerve to approach Parker with the idea of mixing it up, rough and dirty. But, he’s been biding his time and in no way is going to blow the potential with the woman he wants for keeps by being the rebound guy, so he resists ... to about two whole days.... She’s quite tempting, and decides why not turn the table on him and let him hear very vocally, what it’s like to be on the other side of the wall.
She tempts, teases and things sizzle and burn .... especially her backside, when he gets carried away and accidentally sits her down on a hot biscuit pan at breakfast.
And when he gives in, he’s all in. Quite the generous lover is Parker. He knows just how to touch, taste, stroke, fill for optimum fulfillment. She tries to let him off easy after; his lack of a relationship for more than a few months at a time are indicative he’s not into long term, right?
But he know what he wants and makes sure she knows it’s his turn to get exactly what he wants... and if what he wants is her... well so much the better. Everyone wins, right?

Stephanie needs to have some sex. Now. After one to many margaritas she finally has enough liquid courage to ask the one man she has wanted for a very long time. Parker. Her best friend. Her co-worker. Her neighbor. The man she hears having his own very active sex life through their shared bedroom wall on a nightly basis. If anyone can get her out of her sexual slump it’s most definitely him judging by the noises she constantly hears from over there. All she has to do is convince him that their friendship can survive a few “encounters”. That she doesn’t want more than a bit of sexual abandon. Though her heart may be screaming something totally different.

Parker can’t believe what Stephanie is proposing. Friends with benefits isn’t something he has ever said no to before so why is he thinking about doing that now? He would be crazy to say no to the perfect opportunity to live his dream…be with Stephanie. But Parker doesn’t want a wham-bam-thank-you-mam…he wants forever. Convincing Stephanie of that might take a bit more persuading. He is more than willing to accommodate.

Through The Wall is an easy, funny and incredibly hot read. Keri Ford has managed to take a novella and make me care about the characters, which doesn’t normally happen. Generally novellas, because of their length, don’t get me involved in the characters enough for anything to really radiate with me. Ford takes that and throws it right out of the window. I think this may have happened because she takes the time in the beginning to set up a back story and conversation. By the time you get to the set-your-pants-on-fire stuff, you know why the character is the way she is. What makes her tick.

Keri also writes with a completely realistic abandon and will have you giggling at the real world snafu’s that happen to the main characters. She gives new meaning to the phase…”well burn your biscuits” . Read it…you’ll understand, trust me.

The sex….oh my…the sex. Not only did Keri make me giggle but she made me daydream. The sex scenes are hot and sweet at the same time. The love between Stephanie and Parker is clearly felt…and melt your panties off hot. My only complaint is that the story wasn’t long enough. I wanted more of Parker!

I give Through The Wall by Keri Ford 4 stars!

When the walls fell, it was one steamy and satisfying ride for this romance junkie. I love when two best friends find a way into each other's arms. I love it even more when the two deserve it as much as Stephanie and Jake do. Keri Ford has shared a journey that will curl your toes one moment and give you goose bumps of joy the next. I walked away with all kinds of sighs of satisfaction. Ooooh, the satisfaction....

Stephanie Faulkner's apartment sits next to her best friend Jake's. In fact, they even share a bedroom wall. Night after night Stephanie listens to Jake's parade of women express their satisfaction…loudly.

Stephanie wants some of that.

Jake wants Stephanie too, just not for an easy fling. Jake wants it all and he isn't going to settle as Stephanie's booty call.

This story really surprised me in all kinds of good ways. I expected a request for a bed call to lead to some heat and love to grow from requited passion. Not what happened. Instead, two characters showed some depth and gave us more than a simple romance mixed in with some fiery hot sex scenes.

Not only did the plot play out in a clever and captivating way, the characters' own revelations and struggles really made the story more than just a simple love story. I found THROUGH THE WALL fun and quirky. I was embarrassed for Stephanie as she tried to ask for what she wanted, and I was compassionate for Jake as he refused, having wanted far more than just sex from Stephanie for years.

This is the first book in a series about Apple Trail, Arkansas. I think things are about to really get hot in that small town and you can count on me to find a front row seat. Grab some popcorn and pull up a chair next to me. Enjoy!

Every now and then you just need to read something a little fun! Through The Wall was just that. If you are looking for something hot and steamy then look no further!

Stephanie Faulkner and Parker Madison have been neighbors for years. He helped her get over her divorce, but lately she's found that she wants more from him then just friendship. Parker lives in the next apartment over from her, and the walls are thin. Very thin. She's tired of hearing girl after girl leave his apartment. She wants to be that girl. After one or two too many drinks she makes her move...and gets turned down. Stephanie plots to make Parker totally want her by making him think she's having hot sex-payback can be evil, right? :) Eventually Parker can't take it and gives in. What happens next is lots of sex-with no commitment. However, both of them realize that the no commitment thing isn't really working and work to make the other one realize that they need something more.

There wasn't a whole lot of storyline outside of the bedroom, and honestly that was just fine by me. Parker and Stephanie were both likable-the only thing I didn't understand is why Parker kept thinking he was the rebound after she had been divorced for seven years. Granted she hadn't dated because she was hurt and wanted Parker for herself, but I thought it was a bit ridiculous on his part....but that was the only flaw I found in this fun novella.

Through the Wall was a cute story from a series about people living in a town called Apple Valley. This book was about friends (Parker and Stephanie) who live in the same apartment complex. It was well written and easy to read. It isn’t written from a specific point of view, so you get a great idea of what is going on at all times. I don’t read many books like this anymore.

After walking in with Parker and finding her husband with another woman, they both left him behind. It has been almost a year, and Stephanie is looking for a friends with benefits situation. Her apartment shares a bedroom wall with his and she figures he is the perfect guy for the job. After a party, and several margaritas for courage, she suggests her idea to him. He initially turns her down, but she begins to “seduce” him. Turns out, Parker’s rejection of her isn’t really rejection. He wants more than a friends with benefits situation from her.

I liked the story, but it was short, and I didn’t feel like it was a good way to spend $.99, when I think of the other books I have gotten for the same price. I would definitely be interested in more of these stories if they were packaged as a bundle. I would even pay more for all of them together.

My Thoughts:

This is book one in Keri Ford’s Apple Trail series. In this story we meet Stephanie who had just survived the betrayal of her husband with her best friend. But after listening to her neighbor and friend Parker have sex night after night, Stephanie is willing to do anything to get a little action even if at the risk of losing Parkers friendship.
Parker may look happy on the outside. Women want him, men want to be him. But Parker is not happy. The one person he really wants is on the other side of this wall, but she is not ready for another relationship. And Parker will not settle for anything other than forever with her.
This was a great quick story. I love the struggle that Parker goes through in this book. He is so torn between what he wants and what Stephanie wants. But in the end I think everyone gets what they wanted.
If you are looking for a great short story of love and a little battle of wits come over to Apple Trail and check out what is going on with this couple.
