The corruption of the Incantors may have been cleansed in the southern deserts, but Andrew’s work is just beginning. The city of Ardhal has fallen under the growing shadow of the Incantors and it is only a matter of time before that ancient scourge spreads throughout Salia.

Andrew has his hands full already, but now the surviving dragons of the far north have learned of his existence and not all of them are willing to return to the alliances of old.

Full disclosure: I am the author's wife.

I have been contemplating what to say about this book. While I loved it I was sad to see it end. That doesn't mean this was a bad book, on the contrary it was AMAZING! There is so much potential for more story in the world that Devin has created that finishing this book was bitter sweet. I told my husband I needed more closure at the end. His response is he wouldn't have anything else to write about if he had given me what I wanted. Touche. I know he is planning on writing more books set in this world so I am very excited to read them when he does.

The book itself is so well written that I was swept up into the story and didn't even notice I was reading a book. If you have read a lot then you'll know what I mean. I feel the best books are the ones that you live. You feel like you know the characters in the book and look forward to seeing their lives unfold. This book is definitely one of those books.

At the outset of this book Andrew, Jules and Iria are settled into Andronath and working out how to rid the rest of the world of the evil Incantors. Not an easy task by any means and I really wondered how this was going to go. Without giving any of the plot away (I hate putting spoilers in my reviews) the book takes off and the action and adventure is nonstop and while I said the end was bitter sweet it is also so, so satisfying. it had everything I could have hoped for and more. Tears of joy were shed, seriously it was that good.

I will say there are some new characters introduced in this book and my favorite is Travis Bellwether. He is a really good guy caught up with a really bad man and he finds redemption. I really hope that he's back in the next book. Devin, make it so!

If you are seeing this review and haven't read the other books yet do yourself a service and do it. You won't regret it.

Excellent conclusion to the trilogy. What I like most about the story is the melding of a "technology" of magic with steampunk elements and how it all relates to the dragons. If you enjoy heroic fantasy, check this out.

Exciting and emotionally satisfying ending to a really enjoyable trilogy.

I don't usually read fantasy, but I thoroughly enjoyed this from beginning to end.

This book is a great blend of military action, alchemy-related technology, political strivings and just plain HEART. I believed the characters, and cared about how their lives turned out.

From the beginning of the series, I was intrigued with the source of the runes, and Andrew's very personal connection to them. For me, some of the most thrilling scenes are not the fights (which are great), but the moments when Andrew is studying and discovers insights into the nature of the runes, and how to master their power. And this book includes scenes that deliver that thrill.

I can't leave this review without a mention of my favorite scene - but I don't want to give it away. It concerns LOTS of dragons, and spoke to my deepest love of music and understanding of covenant.

Read this book for the story, the intrigue, the outrageously fun technology, the insight into war and civilization, the battle scenes, the romance or the satisfying conclusion. But read it!

Another great book

Like the first two books in the trilogy, I really liked this one. Sad to hear this arc of the trilogy is over but it's nice to hear there will be more stories written in this world can't wait for the next book :)

Overall I really enjoyed the whole series. His writing style is smooth and I can mostly enjoy the book without distraction from the writing. This was a great ending to this part of the series (I found later that there is more, but at the time I felt it ended really well) and the book kept me riveted right to the end. I was actually sad to see it end, so was excited to hear that there were more to read!

Brilliant

Absolutely brilliant set of books, I cannot wait to read about the future of the characters and the next set of books. Only critic is sometimes there is small grammar mistakes and also knowledge of the world e.g. the army that is invading they know is coming and they have all this knowledge of magic and runes to make things indestructible and yet they don't use them on the walls or door to the city :/.

Book 3

This 3rd book was as riveting as the first. The people keep their interest, each book makes you want to read the next. The premise of this story is interesting and totally different from any other I have read. I read the first on vacation and didn't know that there we're more.

Rune Master

Lost city found, check. Evil “magicians” appear in such a way we learn the how and why evil magicians, check. More of dragon development and their links to humanity revealed/learned, check. Massive battle with all of the above hanging in the balance make this a page turner. Unlike many series I tend to like each one of these books more than the last.

Lovely

I started this book series in a whim because I had finished my previous one by a different author but the first book of this series drew me in and so far hasn't let me go yet
The second book was a bit dryer then the first but still good
I look forward to reading the third one and shall start it as soon as possible;)

Great conclusion to the ARC

Ava's eggs getting closer to hatching. War! Betrayal. Old enemies, and new friends. A lot going on as we get to the conclusion of this ARC of the story. As always, very well written and leaves you wanting more. On to the next ARC of the story.

Good, gruesome, but good

Needlessly gruesome. The author needs better educated editing help, to prevent the "grammatical errors that sound right." Other than that, good book.
