Presents a concise guide to identifying and treating diabetes, including noting its causes, how to test blood sugar, and how to control nutrition and diet.
This book was given to me at the hospital when P. was diagnosed. The pink panther illustrations are a bit silly, but I guess it helps to break up the stress of all the info you are trying to take in. It is a helpful straightforward overview and may be helpful to refer back to at times.
Read the 15th edition of this, but can’t find it on here. Helped during my Peds Endocrinology rotation to know what patients and families were being taught and going through
This is the best first book for someone new to Type 1 diabetes. It covers a lot of topics very quickly, so don't expect to finish it all at once. When that "This is all too much!" feeling starts (and it will!) put the book down, relax, and know that in a few months all this will be your new normal. There's plenty of time to learn.
I received this book from the hospital. My son is newly diagnosed Type 1 and this was a great overview to get us started in the right path. It was also easy for my son to understand (he is 13). Great book.
Was a good intro into Diabetes. It was easy to understand and concise. Good pictures to show littler ones. I am going to the next book hoping for more in-depth information.
