For the most part, this book was great fun. As someone who grew up reading old-school comics, the stories here gave me serious nostalgia. Though the art style changed over time, the storylines remained true to form.
However, I had three problems with this set. One is that some stories here are left unfinished; they give you part one without a sequel. Another one is that some of these are mere cover galleries; can you say dull? The biggest issue I had, however, was with the last story, which was based on the Riverdale television series. Not only did it include profanity, but it also featured an illicit affair between Archie and Miss Grundy, which was not only morally offensive, but disturbing, given her role in the classic comics. Discerning readers would be better off skipping that one.

Another great collection of Archie comics from the 40s to the present. I enjoyed the first volume a little more, even though this volume really did have a more diverse set of stories.

okay but Ms Grundy is old in the actual comics? Why is she young and hot in the T.V show?????

So much fun! This volume celebrates 70 years of Archie and the gangs hijinks. I've been collecting Archie comics since I was 7 and this was a stroll down memory lane!

I love Archie in general, but perhaps not in specific. Very few of these selected stories live up to my memory of my favourites ... and yet they were chosen for inclusion in the anthology, so shouldn't they be the very best? Compared to anything by Carl Barks, or to the recent collection of John Stanley's Marge's Little Lulu, these barely rate. Certainly if these had been my only exposure to Archie and his pals, I wouldn't have seen the point or the charm.
(Note: I'm a writer, so I suffer when I offer fewer than five stars. But these aren't ratings of quality, they're a subjective account of how much I liked the book: 5* = an unalloyed pleasure from start to finish, 4* = really enjoyed it, 3* = readable but not thrilling, 2* = disappointing, and 1* = hated it.)

I loved this, because I've been such a huge fan of these comics for so long. My only complaint is that I wish there were more stories about Archie and the gang, as there were a lot of side stories (especially the older ones, I grew up with ones like Josie or Sabrina so I enjoy those) that's didn't connect with me as much.
But overall, a really fun collection of Archie comics from over the decades!

I had a lot of fun with this book. The best periods were the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. The 40s were more like trying to find its stride. The 2000s and 2010s was a noticeable decline in quality and trying to desperately redefine itself.

I enjoyed reading this but I was surprised how many non-Archie comics were actually in this collection. I would have liked all Archie.

Archie COMICS (Book 2)
Archie Comics book 2 was written by many comic book authors. It includes stories from the 1940s to recent day. This book shows Archie as a child and a grown up. It has a lot of pictures which are quite funny and interesting. There are 3 main characters in this book; all of the 3 characters make comedy, romance, and more. The 3 main characters are Archie, Betty, and Veronica. Most of the chapters of Archie are set in the United States, but otherwise the other chapters are set in the other parts of the world.
In the series Archie starts out as a young boy in high school. The book represents the life style of that generation. So there were stories written over again by other authors too, but most of the stories written in this Archie series is when Archie is a teen. When Archie was a teen he always had the same 2 girls fighting over him in his high school years. Surprisingly they were best friends in their elementary years and middle school years they are still close friends in their high school years. In Archie’s teens years he had crushes, girlfriends, problems with life, for example his girlfriends dumped him for other guys or girls keep stalking him. In Archie’s primary, middle, high school years¬¬ Archie had a crush on both the 2 girls that were fighting for him (Veronica and Betty). The Adult years Archie go married to whom? Veronica or Betty?!? Read the book and find out yourself.
I really enjoyed ready the comic series. There are chapters that I do not enjoy reading. Those chapters are setting in the 1940s. The 1940s era is not the same as 2010, the pictures in the recent chapters written are more interesting because it is not blurry. Other than not enjoying the early chapters I enjoyed every other recent chapter written. I wish there were more recent chapters written in the series. For example a chapter on Archie in 2014 would be interesting.
I would recommend this book to pre-teens or adults. It has comedy, romance and a lot more. I would rate this book 8 out of 10, because the early chapters are not as interesting as the last ones the pictures are blurry and nonrealistic. Read the Archie comics book 2 to find of he marries Betty or Veronica! But first you have to read Archie comics book 1.

What I love about the Archie Best of Series is that unlike the plain, non-best of Archie digest issues, the stories are extra special. I like almost all Archie comics but the stories here have a certain something in them. I should probably cite an example but since I'm not in school I just might not because really, why should I? But okay, I'll try! For instance, in all the years I read Archie, I didn't know that Betty had a cat called Caramel. I would not have known this if I didn't read this! Not that it matters, because my favorite Archie stories are those involving my favorite people: Archie, Juggie, Ronnie, Betty, Reggie, basically, the main characters.
I also didn't pay much attention to the side-comics (Josie and the Pussycat, Lil Jinx, etc.), but in the Best of series, only the funnest, most interesting ones seem to have been chosen and so I end up appreciating them, and what I'm probably trying to say is, yay Best of Archie Comics.

This was a really nice collection of the best Archie comics starting from the 1940s up to the present. I've always loved Archie comics since I was a kid and I still love them. I'll prolly continue collecting and have my kids read 'em. My fave part in this book (and prolly what i don't like) is Archie's proposal to Veronica. Things just got serious. The gang's college graduation. Their plans in life. and then this?! There's this page of the actual proposal and you can just see and feel the drama there. I love it. Looking forward to read Archie's Married Life and more of The Best of Archie Comics!

Archie comics are those types of books that you read just to make you laugh and feel happy. I just can't believe they wrote a comic about a zombie apocalypse in Riverdale! I mean really, nowadays a lot of the movies and tv shows are about zombie apocalypses and now they even have Archie comics in the whole thing. But still the other comics were really funny :D

I enjoyed this one just as much as the first one, despite the fact that there weren't decade summaries involved. I think it was the diversity that was displayed this time. There were longer stories, which I found I liked better. Definitely worth it to me to read this one.

Back when i am much younger i used to read Archie comics and now it is still a good read. The adventures of the gang was always funny and chaotic even their misadventures and failures. Still one of the best comics of our time.

The editorial choice to include partial stories is unfortunate. There's also too much emphasis on characters other than the core group of Archie and his friends. Still, there are plenty's of good stories in the collection.

Those vintage parts of the book are the best. Especially the Betty and Veronica rivalry on Archie. Thumbs up for my childhood comic character.
