That was sure one messed up book... I realize that family stuff can get complicated, but this one sure takes the cake.

I absolutely loved this book by Sam West!
Karma will always come back and fuck you over! Expect plenty of violence and torture in this one.

3.75 This was a great short novella it was gory and Imeverything I wanted to read in spooky season it’s a good read I highly recommend I’ve read quite a few of his books now and I must say I’m loving his books

Very gruesome and gory read. It did get a little confusing at times but I managed to figure it out. Unexpected ending. Loved it.

This book and all of "her" others are just stupid as well as poorly written. It is not that I don't like extreme horror, I do. There are some really good authors in the genre, like Andersen Prunty, Clive Barker, Chuck Palahniuk, etc...but not Sam West. The stories are written around the gore and sex. Good authors write these things into their strong story lines...these are weak.
I also believe that Sam West and Matt Shaw, as well as Sea Caummisar, are all the same person. All of their stuff are written in the same grammatically challenged voice, akin to that of a limey drunk telling you incomprehensible stories in a run down Pub. They all contain the same stupid inconsistencies and bad explanations.
So you wonder why I keep reading them? Christ, don't get me started on what is wrong with me.

This one was kinda meh for me. There was potential for a really good revenge story here. Instead I feel like I got a vague, convoluted mess. Thumbs up for the gore factor I guess. Jeez, maybe it's time to lay off the extreme horror. Not much surprises or freaks me out anymore.

Aggregated upon being fired for his temp position at I Can't Believe It's True, Paul Breed is moments away from snapping and doing the unthinkable. His boss, James Atwood, happens to play a much deeper role in his life, his father. Raped by his own mother at eighteen, James ran from the abuse without ever knowing that one act landed his mother pregnant. Unable to stomach the thoughts attached, he went through the necessary steps to make sure he'll never father children again. Fast forward nineteen years, and he has two adopted children; Claire and Ryan who fight horrendously. A shy and reserved girl, Claire refused to admit to her parents (Mary and James) that she had lost her job or that she began smoking. Caught by her mother, they forced her to babysit the McQueen's young daughter, which led to the beginning to the worst night of her life. Held down and raped, she was traumatized beyond words as he dropped the severed head of her own mother in front of her. Blocking out the ordeal, he would soon drug her and drag her off for the real fun to begin.
“Tut, tut, Mary, no hiding. This is your final warning. Tilt your pelvis up a little and spread your cunt with your fingers. With your other hand, I want you to tweak your nipple. Really hard. I want your nipple to darken, I want to see it fucking bruise.”
Meanwhile, Louise and Fay are planning a get together deep in the Tunnel of Terror with two men, each in turn hoping for approval. Listing after her boss, Fay is settling with the much younger son Ryan to hopefully fill the void of their affair. For merely a month the two have met and played behind Mary's back. Now, with a baby growing in her stomach, she feels the happiness she yearns for getting brighter and closer. Ambushed by Paul, Louise's is quickly slaughtered with the axe that cleaved her head from her neck. Amputating her legs, she's just a roso on a slab before he shoots Fay in her leg, leaving her bleeding and screaming. Laying her on top of her friend's corpse, he hacks her leg off as well and leaves her fading in and out of consciousness. With Claire suspended on a cross, she's powerless to save her father from where he's fastened on the executioner chair. Watching Ryan overpower Paul, leaves a bitter taste as he ended up shot and killed as well. Fatally wounded from her stomach, she will die as well as her father, leaving only Fay and her unborn child clinging to life. What started as an act of revenge on the father that first abandoned him and then fired him, would leave so many people killed in the crossfire.
All I have to do is slice. No more pain. No more running.

Now THIS is what I’m talking about Sam West! Finally a super twisted, messed up story. I fell into a bit of a Sam West slump, after reading The Djinn 1&2 (which was f*cking fabulous btw) I had to DNF Strange Flesh and was not impressed with The Nanny, but I didn’t want to give up on SW.
When you read the synopsis, you learn that James fires Paul, Paul finds out James’ address and goes to their house and terrorizes him and his family, but believe me it’s much worse & twisted than that. Honestly, I thought it was going to be a straight forward psycho terrorizes family but I kept getting shocked at all the twists thrown at me. It’s truly a sad, messed up, entertaining story and there were some parts that even made me chuckle. I truly enjoyed this one!

What I liked about this novel was how well written it was. The majority of splatterpunk novels are streams of consciousness, or just focus on gore, depraved sex acts and violence. Dont get me wrong, thats in there....But with West, there was planning, plotting, sentence structure and a varied vocabulary.... the opposite of some of the Canon authors in this genre (think Jon Athon's "A Family of Violence" and the extreme lack of synonyms IYKYK).
I enjoyed the pace, plenty of gore, however, it revved up to 90%, but didn't fully push the boundaries, something I enjoy with extreme/splatter.
I will certainly check out more from S.west!

Great Geisha of Blood
HER FATHER'S MISTAKE relies heavily on intense sexual violence and sexual taboos. On one hand, it feels a little cheap, but at least it's effective. I cringed my way through this. Unlike most extreme horror novels, there are actual twists in the plot. Other readers might be able to see them coming, but I pretty much turned my brain off with this one. I was impressed by the unusual setting and the strength of West's writing--funny little typos aside.

Really good story and only 4 stars rather than 5 as it was a little hard to keep up with who was talking to who in places and the end which was a good twist but made no sense considering the early shocking reverlations. Still really enjoyed the gore and horror my imagination produced through the usual writings of Mr. West one of my fav Extreme Horror writers.

In this book we follow a father who is also a boss for a company, he has to fire one of his employees, and shortly finds out he made a huge mistake when the fired employee shows up to his home to have a talk with him.
This story was very cliche and not in a way that I could get behind or even in a fun way, it felt very incest kink and the story and characters were very lackluster.

This was an ok read but nothing special. It ended suddenly and I didn't get the end if I'm honest. I had to go back to the beginning to even know who Fay was.
Quite a few typos and errors which I always find off putting.

I was not expecting this particular plot. I’m glad about the twists and turns and the unexpected plot. I would definitely recommend this extreme horror book.

Don't ever underestimate the victim. This was a real ride on the crazy train, but in Sam West style, it was a great read.

I’m really enjoying Sam West’s books at the moment. Easy to read, lots of gore and the storylines are packed with action! Another solid read, really enjoyed it.

Not as messed up as the Djinn books by the same author but still very disturbing. If you like family drama mixed into your extreme horror, this is for you.
