Marjorie Ingall is the co-author, with internationally bestselling author Susan McCarthy, of Sorry, Sorry, Sorry: The Case for Good Apologies (now out in paperback as Getting to Sorry) and the author of Mamaleh Knows Best. A frequent contributor to The New York Times Book Review, she's a former columnist for Tablet Magazine and The Forward (where she was known as “The East Village Mamele”). She's written for a whole lot of other publications and ghostwritten other people's books. Way back in the day, she was the senior writer and books editor at Sassy. Fun fact: She worked on the launch of the Oxygen TV network, but discovered that her perkiness levels were not up to a job in daytime TV.
Funny - but too dated to hold up well. No self respecting geek would be in an aol chatroom now. (Some would say they never would have been.) Do AOL Chatrooms even still exist?
This book is great fun! For women, at least, I haven't offered it to my boyfriend to read. As with any bird or wild flower of . . ., this book shows each variety of male, illustration of his plumage (including footware), then describes where this type can be found, its habits, its "song," etc.
Funny at points, but some of the material is so dated as to not be near as funny as it would have in 1997. It was a clever concept, and the stereotypes were funny to read, although, the book was far too hetero-centric for me to really enjoy much more than 3 stars.
