Fans of the band Maggie's Bones from the Haunted series know that front man Marcus Lambert has a thing for the band's new manager, Sherry Jordan. No one can tell the story of how their affair came about better than Lambert himself. Learn what happened to the band over Valentine's Day 2012, just before the events of Haunted PLUS read new material showing just what the two of them were up to in Devon's room at the St. Germaine. This couple faces plenty of obstacles in the way of their romance, the biggest being Marcus's ego. Can Sherry see past that to the man who wants to be her everything? This is the first volume of vignettes involving Marcus and Sherry, with more planned for later in 2017.

If you've read Haunted (the first in the Haunted Series) then you've met Marcus Lambert and I'm sure have formed an opinion of him along the lines of "selfish" "asshole" "cocky" and maybe even "self-centered". But in Bated we see a completely different side to Marcus. While he is the cocky man that he does portray, there's also a sensitive side to him that is just as broken and scared as the rest of his band members after losing their manager Maggie.
Sherry Jordan has taken over the role of manager as Maggie's Bones. After losing Maggie she's also trying to find a way to deal with the grief as well as keep the boys together and prove that she can do this job to the band's management teams. On Valentine's day she's willing to lower her inhibitions and see if Marcus lives up to the hype of his repetition with the ladies. However, this arrangement is all about scratching and itch...love wasn't suppose to fall into the mix.
This novella is just a prequel to what I'm sure is going to be another amazing story in this series. I can't wait to see if Sherry will finally allow Marcus in. Will Marcus finally learn to control his tongue or is he destined to just hurt those that he loves?
I was familiar with Marcus and Sherry from the book Haunted. Bated is a prequel that offers a glimpse into the relationship between the rock star and his manager.
The short story centers on Marcus and Sherry's romantic evening during a tour stop in Chicago. The couple's weekend is filled with lovemaking, and the scenes will leave you hot and blushing. Yet, the couple's argument about the status of their relationship changes the mood.
Bated got me hooked on Marcus and Sherry's romance. In Haunted, it's hinted they were together, but it never devled any further. The two are kind of an opposites attract pair, but they're both a bit stubborn. There's plenty of angst as they talk about their fears, and you can sense the pain as the words flow.
The short story ended on a bit of a cliffhanger as their future and Marcus' health is in question. I'm hoping there will be more to come of Marcus and Sherry.
WTF Ro! How could you end there and not write another story and finish it up with an HEA!!! Get to writing and finishing their story!!! The book is about the pressure put on Marcus as the leader of the band and his secret love for his manager. Marcus’ effed up big time and found out on top of everyone being pissed at him, he has a health issue to deal with.
Woo-Bated is one hot and heavy story. Is this the beginning for Sherry and egotistical Marcus. Normally, I would be disappointed that the story left us hanging. However, it's a novella and such an emotional well written story I am willing to pick up the next in the series to see how the story continues. Be prepared to have your breath taken away.
Loved this book and will be looking to read more in the series. R. L. Merrill always give us books/stories that are entertaining and always leave us wanting more. The characters are always well written, the emotions are there for us to feel like we are in the book. A must read for everyone for fans of R. L. Merrill and those looking for a wonderful book to read.
This book focuses on Marcus. Marcus is a headstrong selfless character just trying to keep everyone else from imploding. All while ignoring his own problems and health. This book shows a glimpse into the side of him that i feel most never see and is a great addition to this series. It will definitely leave you wanting more. I cant wait to read more books about Marcus and the band.
Oh my bated breath... I can't truly began to properly express my love of this story. If anything I only wish it wouldn't have stopped where it did. My great admiration goes out to R.I. Merrill. She spins a tale so well I can't get enough. I truly wish she had been one of my English instructors.
“Talking about tragic stories and this one. Sweet Lord, I can’t count how many times I wanted to cry. It was so painful and hurtful to see the guys suffering. Devon! *not saying more* Everybody was barely surviving though Marcus and Sherry’s story is far from over. Looking forward for it.”
Marcus is stressed out trying to keep the band together after losing their manager. A couple of the members are about to self-destruct, he's fighting with the new manager, and his health is deteriorating. Marcus needs help, stat. I enjoyed this book.
Marcus, the front man to Maggie's Bones, has a crush on their new manager, Sherry. They face many snags in their relationship. What happened that Valentine's Day of 2012? Can he drop the ego he has? Will Sherry see the real him? What happened in Devon's room?
R.L. Merrill is an awesome writer the book leaves you wanting more. I couldn't put the book down finished it in a day. Can't wait until there's more books for the series.
The characters are written well and the story is easy to follow. A very relaxing read and can be read alone as well as with the rest of the books in the series.
I am truly at a loss for words. Suffice to say I am reeling. I have read the other books in this series and they affected me but not like this one. Oh my!
I LOVE all of author R. L. Merrill's books and each one gets better and better! She has a unique style and flair that makes all of her books exciting, unpredictable and the ultimate "What is going to happen next?!?" read. While technically this is not the first book in the series, it can be read as it is. She does an amazing job of setting up the back story for new readers as well as reminding current readers what has happened. I feel like it could be read as a standalone book and be ok for the reader.
This is the story of Marcus and Sherry and it is a roller coaster ride of emotions that leaves the reader both wanting more and wanting it to end so that they can see what happened. This short story packed the punch of a full length novel and it has quickly moved up to the top of my favorites list. The reader will ultimately cheer for the couple while at the same time show their anger....don't be alarmed if you are reading this and you laugh out loud or yell and curse at the characters...it is to be expected.
If you haven't read anything by this author then you should! She is a can't miss, must read - all of her characters are fun, her story lines are unique and she writes an amazing tale that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. Don't hesitate to pick up a book or 10 by this author!!
I this book! Marcus is one headstrong character from the Haunted series and this books about certain events in Marcus's words. There really isn't a character who could do it better. The events occur just prior to Haunted (book 1) and before Fated (book 2), I really recommend this reading order. I've njoyed seeing this glimpse of Marcus and look forward to reading his story.
