Tensions have reached boiling point in the East End. Jimmy Diamond is growing up in the shadow of his gangster father, Martin Morton, who is determined to get shot of him. Trouble is, Jimmy is not prepared to go quietly. Martin Morton murdered his mother, and now it’s time for him to pay. With the help of his father’s rival, Dave Carter, Jimmy starts to make plans. Martin Morton is about to get the punishment he deserves. But Jimmy is not the only one with revenge in his heart. The knives are out. It’s time for good old-fashioned East End Retribution.
East End Retribution delivers a supposed conclusion to the East End trilogy although the ending has been left primed for more. The story remains about , betrayal, revenge, and family competing in the ruthless world of gangsters and straight businesses. While gangsters and their kin are the main characters the story is really about bonds, emotional ties, whether it is possible to redeem yourself and what people will do to progress and survive.
Overall, East End Retribution is a decent (supposed) finale to the series. For those that like to cast the TV/movie cast to the characters you will have a good time planning. it could be argued that all three books are formulaic and maybe aren't the deepest, however, they are very readable and they do keep you turning that page.
I've read quite a few fictional books on city gangland from the world over. I am always aware only so many story lines can be created, but I gotta say here is another and it's up there with the best. All the characters intricately woven together living their lives on different levels. Each book leads into the next chapter in their lives, a gripping read leaving you ready to find out what's next, so Dani Oakley it's odd to you now, when's the next instalment please 👍😀
Brilliant, I enjoyed every page. As good a writer as all the east end crime novels I’ve read, over 200. I’ve read all of the D S Butler thriller’s brilliant is the best way I can describe them
Young at Heart, Dani Oakley a brilliant writer, definitely on a par with Martina Cole and Roberta Katy. A must read
This is the last of the 3 books in this series. This one brought the story to an end. It would be nice if another book could be written which perhaps takes us on 10 years, to see what happens to the Carters and the Mortons in the future. All 3 books were excellent books which were difficult to put down once started. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND these books to lovers of both thrillers and sagas.
Fabulous !!!! Looking forward to reading the next book ... looks like Jimmy and Derek are going to be at logger heads That’s assuming there’s going to be a follow up book regarding this story
Well this was the last book of the series I go for its not as the book left it open for more to happen. I have downloaded a couple of her stand alone books but I am also going to make a start on the deadly series.
The story just flows and the characters are amazing and believable. This is a tremendous read one you just can't put down hope you enjoy it as much as I did
Before I retired I was a Legal Secretary and enjoyed my job. I met several types of characters who needed our help!!! I also met the three guys who were shot in Retendon.
Yet again, another excellent read from Dani, she has sooooooo cracked East End crime writing!, such an easy read, gobbled up page after page, could not read fast enough, just a bummer I have to work and sleep inbetween!!
i enjpyed reading this series ever so much. im gutted its finished ..i want more!!!! i fpund the 3rd book was tge best.i enjoyed the first 2 but the 3rd was my favourite
This one is definitely the best in the series so far. Really enjoyed reading it as the characters developed more and some nice twists and turns in the storyline.
3rd book read in this series, believe there will be a 4th one. No way can Dani Oakley not continue so can find out what else is going to happen. Great read worth more than 5 Stars
I really enjoyed this 2nd book in the Diamond saga. Great insight to the Easy End back in the 60’s. You get to know all the characters well. Revenge was served well. Can’t wait for the next book.
