Devil dogs weren’t meant to have hearts…
Hunter Christian sure as hell didn’t. He was a Marine. A warrior. The last thin line of defense against evil in the world. He’d killed for his country and he’d do it again. He just didn’t expect that call-to-arms would come in the middle of one of those easy TEAM ops in Brazil, nor that he’d have to kill in front of the woman he’d once given his heart to.
The one he left behind…

She used to be a cheerleader...
Now Meredith Flynn is in the jungles of Brazil beta testing the latest Active Camouflage System out of McCormack Industries. The last man she expected to see there was Hunter Christian. They used to be friends. They could've been lovers. Only now, his once gentle heart is as hard and unforgiving as the profane ink on his chest and arms. He wears his tattoos like defiant badges. Are all soldiers as cold as he is?
She’ll never know…

Growing up in the countryside of Wisconsin, I always wanted to be a writer. I've dabbled in poetry, short stories, and more daydreaming than most. Way back when, I remember long Sunday afternoon drives with my parents where they'd
tell us eight kids to, 'Look out the window and see something!'

I've been looking out the window ever since . . .

In the great Northwest pines, I saw a woman who had nowhere to run find refuge in the arms of a tender warrior seeking his own road to healing.
In the hills of Wyoming, I saw a broken man who thought he'd lost everything
rediscover the man he was in the eyes of a pretty girl.
And in the Dairy State, (yes Wisconsin), I saw two people fall in love
and overcome horrific obstacles on their way to happily-ever-after.

Life is short. Pick up a good book. Read. Write. Enjoy.
Look out the window and see something!

This book starts off with a bang (I may have had a mild panic attack during the first 15 min of reading), and the action never stops long enough for you to catch your breath. This is the 14th book of the “In the Company of Snipers” series, we get to know Hunter, as he’s sent on a mission that was supposed to be easy, when it takes a dangerous turn of events.
His path crosses with Meredith Flynn, a blast from his past, that he’d rather stay there. He’s too stubborn to hear anything she has to say, so they’re constantly at each others throats. This is one of my favorite series, and I’m more impressed with each book that comes out. Irish is one of those authors that the second her new book is loaded on my Kindle, I’ll drop whatever I’m doing and won’t stop reading until I’ve finished. As always, she takes you on an adventure that you never want to end. Best book yet in the series!

This is the 14th book in the series.

The heroine is trying to make a good home for herself and her son. In order to do this, she has to do a beta test of the new product they are trying to get the military to buy. What she didn’t know about was the hero being there as he was one of the last people she ever expected to see again after the way he left.

Our hero has closed himself up and doesn’t care. He’ll do what his work requires of him but that’s it. He’s been kicked one too many times, but he will still defend his country even if he can’t do it as a marine any longer.

The plot is great about having two sides trial the beta test for the product. The addition of the hero and heroine’s past and its influence on them to get them where they are today was really handled well and very believable. However, I think our hero cracks very easy compared to how he should have and how hard his heart has been. However, the struggle between our team and the bad guys is done really well. However, what makes you keep going is the last addition to when the hero disappears into air. I loved this part as it was so unexpected.

This is the 14th from this series, and this was one of the better books in the series.

She lost her gun

Wow! Coming down from another Irish Winters Company of Snipers. I have to get my blood pressure and heart rate down. I do love this series.
Hunter is a Marine. He takes all assignments without question. This one was to be like a vacation in Brazil. 4 professional soldiers verses against 4 lab personal using invisible suits. In a game of paint ball. Hunter was last man standing no, surprise when he captures their last man only to find she was a woman and the love of his life, Meredith. Hunter leaves the after party early He can't stand to watch her flirting with the other men. Meredith goes to shower she hears shots thinking the guys are razzing her, she finds gunmen shooting her boss and fellow employies . She shoots one, as Hunter comes running in. They stop her boss's bleeding make a stretcher grab a supply box and run. In the process Meredith forgets her clothes and shoes. Hunter doesn"

Hunter review

Hunter is the fourteenth romantic suspense book written by author Irish Winters in the series " In the Company of Snipers". I'm ready to read another fourteen as soon as available. Each book is action packed and fast-paced. All have been excellent and all have different subject matter. I highly recommend this series.

Wow! This book will absolutely keep you reading into the wee hours. It has all those elements we look for in a thriller...hero, female heroine/victim, abusive mate, great friends willing to risk everything for pal.
I won my copy free from the author through Writerspace.

Didn't like this one as much as others in the series. Too much going on, too many directions, too outlandish.

Although I have almost all the books in this series this was the first book I have read. I could tell some of the characters were from previous books but this was Hunter's story alone, along with Meredith and Courtney, her son. From the get go we have a paint ball game that seemed so intense I thought it was a real gun fight. In South America for a trial test of a special kind of camouflage the team thought this would be a simple fun vacation while getting to test out the new equipment. Meredith was there to represent the company and have fun too. Almost immediately it was obvious something very wrong was going down while men died and the game became too real. My adrenaline pumped the entire time I read this book. An avid reader of military and suspenseful romances this was the most intense one yet. Hunter is a powerful guy but he's a marshmallow for Meredith and eventually Courtney. Meredith was torn down by an abusive relationship but she's stronger than ever and toughed it out in the jungle just like the men. Start reading this series and you won't regret it, just wish I had earlier.

Any book that makes me laugh, cry, and stomp-my-foot-mad is a winner. I only awarded five stars as that was the limit available. Special books should be allowed at least seven stars. This story is full of action, men with strength and loyalty unsurpassed, as well as those men on the opposite end of the spectrum with nothing but evil and selfishness. We find a woman who shows “the mean-girl” attitude yet a tender warmth and surprising strength. Ms. Winters has a special ability to make you feel and understand the joy, heartbreak, love, loneliness, and many other emotions the people in her book are feeling. Her insights into those characters make the reader know them as well. You either love or hate her people, there is no middle ground.

Hunter is the big-bad-alpha-ex-marine. Who would have thought he used to be a poet and English Major geek? Then Meredith walked out of his life. He walked into the Corps and left that life behind. Meeting again on a beta testing ops for some new lifesaving equipment, the “vacation ops” as it had been described, was anything but. The couple both feel betrayed by the other, yet they have not been able to scrub their hearts clean of the old feelings. When danger stalks the mission, feelings of protectiveness cross over into other emotions. Someone is after her, but why? She doesn't own the company. She didn't create the device. She has no money. Yet the enemy wants her. Hunter doesn't plan to let them have her.

The action is incredible. Not only am I a sucker for this type of male, when there is a little kid involved you've nabbed me. This book not only has a bunch of guys, all beat-your-heart-sexy but the most adorable little guy who steals everyone’s, heart. Oh, yeah, and he has a very important friend he keeps close.

I strongly recommend this book and the entire series. It isn't necessary to read any of the other books to enjoy each as they stand alone. You will be able to revisit characters you have met in previous stories, however, their basic story is covered in a thumbnail snapshot.
I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.

Fan-freaking-tastic!!!!

Just when I think I have read it all, Irish comes along and proves me wrong! Irish is one if the few authors I read who consistently throws me through the full gamet of my emotions. And 'Hunter' didn't disappoint!

From the heart stopping beginning straight through to the spectacularly written epilogue, she spins a tale full of angst, some moments where you can't believe she's just written what she did and of course love.

I am soooo looking forward to Eric's story...

My first book by Ms. Winters and I enjoyed the fast paced, and excitement in this book. I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough.
So much happening. Hunter and Meredith were let's just say at each others throats in the beginning, but that quickly changed when things headed south for them and the rest of the TEAM.
It seemed Meredith was the root of what was happening. No one knew why.

They couldn't deny the feelings buried inside anymore. Old wounds still were there for Hunter. Can he forgive his Merry for what she did?

To see buy the book.

Hunter Christian is a Marine who has given his all for his country and the last thing he expects is to be sent to Brazil on an op and come fact-to-face with his past ... the woman who held his heart. A woman he lost years ago.

Meredith Flynn is in the jungles of Brazil beta testing a system and certainly didn't expect to find Hunter there. They were once friends but now this man was a warrior, cold, hard and her only chance to survive and rescue the one person who means the world to her.

I have to admit that this is the first book I have had the pleasure of reading by Irish Winter and now I can't wait to get my hands of the others by her. This story will have you biting your nails from the very first page and doesn't let up until the end. I loved Hunter and his men, they are exactly what you expect in a tough as nails warrior. I have to admit I didn't think too highly of Meredith at first but she did grown on me as the storyline filled out more. There is quite a bit of slowly explained tension between our couple which is worked out to everyone's satisfaction.

Even though Hunter is book 14 of the series but it is a stand alone and not confusing to new readers. If you want action, steam and sweet, a good bit of tension, emotional conflict and the growing strength of a love that will not be denied then Hunter is a book you will want to read.

Another great read by Irish Winters. Her characters Hunter and Meredith are well developed and the story line presents many twists and turns. Fast moving and a real page turner. Loved this book. If you have never read any of her books be sure to add them to your must read list.

Another riveting story from the Irish Winters series, In the Company of Snipers. In the steamy jungles of the Amazon, Hunter Christian and his team are on a supposedly easy mission to beta test new prototype camouflage equipment, designed by McCormick Industries, that could change the future of warfare. Unbeknownst to Christian, one member of the McCormick team is Meredith Flynn, the girl he left behind four years ago. As they reconnect, passion flares, secrets are revealed, new friendships are made and old ones strengthened, treachery abounds leading to a plot twist that will catch you completely offguard. I was so surprised when it was revealed why Christian had left the Marines after serving for such a short time-a very unusual reason. This book is one of those "I can't wait to see what happens next" books-be prepared for a wild ride.

I have read all 14 books in this series and have not once been disappointed. Irish Winters books not only give you a hot romance, but an engrossing plotline and well thought out, strong characters.

Sometimes, when a writer has a series going that spans double digits, the plots get stale. That is not the case with Irish Winters. She never fails to deliver a tight, gripping tale of suspense, as evidenced in her latest novel. What starts as a friendly training exercise quickly devolves into a thrilling, edge of your seat plunge into an alternate reality. Chasing unknown killers in the jungle to find the answers becomes a cat and mouse game to see which side will succeed. So many questions, so few answers. Once again this book and this author deliver!
