Kids Deserve It! Pushing Boundaries and Challenging Conventional Thinking

Rate this book
What if learning was exciting? What if students felt important and empowered every time they walked into the building? What if parents looked forward to calls from their children's teachers and principals, instead of cringing when the school's number popped up on their phones? To Todd Nesloney and Adam Welcome, those aren't far-fetched what ifs; they can (and should) be a reality for every teacher, school, parent, and student. In Kids Deserve It!, Todd and Adam encourage you to think big and make learning fun and meaningful for students. While you're at it, you just might rediscover why you became an educator in the first place. Learn why you should be calling parents to praise your students (and employees). Discover ways to promote family interaction and improve relationships for kids at school and at home. Be inspired to take risks, shake up the status quo, and be a champion for your students. #KidsDeserveIt

What a waste. With a focus on tweeting and voxing, the thing the author seem to think is missing from our classrooms is technology. I agree with them when they are stressing the value of the in person relationships but the technology should be low down on the priorities. And the rah rah about good teachers become great when they take chances – well, maybe not. Plus ending each chapter with kids deserve it! Seemed a bit Rah rah for the sake of it. And if they love teaching so much why are they in administration now?

Loved all the ideas and enthusiasm. A refreshing, encouraging read. Knocked down to 3 stars because of the tendency to repeat.

Such a great read....especially for veteran teachers. Sometimes we need those little reminders or fresh new ideas. Many examples come feom Elementary School, but I am already braninstorming ways to fit them into secondary!! Make sure you follow both authors on Social Media platforms. They are AMAZING!

This is an excellent quick read. I love the short little bites/chapters. It has lots of great reminders and is easy to pick up and put down without having to go in order from front to back. I read it right before the beginning of the school year, which I think was good timing!!

Todd and Adam did an amazing job putting together this book. It's all about the little things we can do on a daily basis to better our schools. While it is a book that will inspire those in administration and in the classrooms, I feel inspired to go back and start a movement in my school where students are the focus. This book will take you back to what matters the most: kids
