Rate this book
Set in 2002, at a time when America is on the brink of collapse under the weight of an unstable economy and totalitarian regime, Heroin(e) : Entropy follows Nina, a young woman who's finally escaped poverty and found happiness in suburban Washington, D.C. But her life is violently upended when her boyfriend, Konrad, unwittingly drugs her with a synthetic drug called x-2317. This compound gives them both enhanced intelligence and decision-making abilities, launching them into a high-stakes battle to control x-2317s regional production and distribution.

Meanwhile Blake Rice, a former Navy SEAL, and his young protégé Renzo are on a cross-state killing spree, with no apparent motive. Their violent rampage, along with the escalating violence of a series of sniper attacks across the country, appears to be linked to an international pharmaceutical company, who are the creators of x-2317 Konrad stole the formula from. As Nina’s new awareness grows, she realizes that she's being manipulated by forces she doesn’t understand. With the D.C. Metro area on the brink of chaos, it’s up to Nina to stop the devastating global distribution of x-2317, and its poisonous yet addictive offshoot synthetic heroin, all while keeping her single, drug-addicted mother alive.

Heroin(e) : Entropy is a fast-paced thriller exploring themes of toxic masculinity, control, and the lengths one will go to in order to protect the people they love. With its tense pacing, complex characters, and morally ambiguous world, the novel will appeal to readers who enjoy works like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson and The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides.

Wow! Guys, I'm so impressed with this novel. It's not often that I find a riveting political thriller like this. Honestly, political thrillers aren't usually my genre (I mean, if you know me, you already know that ;) but this one totally captured my attention. Graham does a brilliant job of drawing you in with intriguing dialogue, an edge-of-your-seat plot, and realistic characters. Definitely looking forward to the sequel!

5 GLOWING stars. A must read while you're stuck at home self-quarantining against this Coronavirus!!!

This book is a true thriller. The writing is phenomenal and the plot freezes your attention. Don’t be intimidated by the length of this book because once you start reading, it’s hard to put it down before finishing it. Interesting blend of political and social issues.

Thrilling political suspense action thriller with a science fiction twist to it. As a resident of the DMV, known as the Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia area, I felt completely immersed in the world Graham expertly constructed. all within his creation of a fictionalized version of the real life D.C. Sniper Crisis.

Furthermore, Nina was a protagonist I completely identified with. I really like how the author painted her as a reluctant heroine who fights her oppressors with strategy, femininity and wit, instead of brute force.

Well done! I can't wait to read book 2 in the series, Heroin(e): Hermetic!

Really impressed with the immersive world that Graham created. A slick, Neo-historical fiction thriller set in a fictionalized version of the D.C. Sniper Crisis felt all too real, and to tie it in with the protagonist's struggle to dig her way out of synthetic drug operation her boyfriend entrapped her in was genius. Can't wait to read his second book in the series Hermetic. Five stars.

I think this is possibly one of the worst things I've read, I'm convinced that the rest of the reviews here are not genuine.

Really don’t know what the other reviews are talking about — they cannot be genuine. This book was messy, there are errors throughout, the world in which the book takes place has been flimsily constructed and bears little resemblance to the intense political thriller that the blurb promises, the characters are not developed at all, the plot is tenuous at best. One of the most concerning aspects of the novel is the lead, Nina. She is not a ‘strong female lead’ in the slightest. She has been written in a way that reeks of misogyny and written more like a sexually exploitative, pornographic fantasy than a real person. There is no chance this would have gotten past a traditional publisher. I wish I could get the time I wasted trying to make sense of this book. I hope if the author reads this that he takes the time to attempt to deconstruct his harmful attitudes towards women and race. Agree with reviewer Jenny who seems to be the only person here talking sense - one of the worst things I’ve ever read.
