On the Job #1

Help Wanted

Rate this book
Who said mixing work and pleasure was a bad idea?

For Kenley Carmichael, getting fired for sleeping with the boss’s husband is almost funny—at 28, she’s still a virgin. Not that her now ex-boss would believe it—Kenley’s got the face and figure to attract plenty of men, even if she’s never found the right one. A job at New Haven Custom Boats is a chance to start fresh and learn a whole new skill set. Trouble is, she can’t stop wishing her incredibly hot new boss would introduce her to some decidedly un-businesslike pleasure . . .

Zane Jackson needs a new assistant, but when his pregnant sister hires her replacement, she chooses a girl who reminds him of the kind who broke his heart in high school. Zane might not be that shy boy anymore, but sweet, sexy Kenley makes him feel every bit as awkward as he did then—and even hungrier to kiss her. She’s the perfect woman for the job—but he wants her to be so much more.

Interoffice dating can only lead to trouble—unless it leads to true love . . .

Received an ARC for my fair review for netgalley. I hate to give a bad review, but unfortunately this book deserved one. This was a horrible book. Zane was a jerk, I could not see his appeal. The story was ridiculous, here is this grown man, who did not want to hire Kenley (heroine) because she looked like or reminded him of his high school crush. What?? How ridiculous, so of course he hires her story has to go on, and treats her bad, and then apologizes for his assholishness (yes I know not a word) but then he stays out of the office to avoid her because he does not want to have the same feeling of inadequacy he did as a teenager, did I say he was an idiot and this was ridiculous? Because it is..I was so upset with myself that I was reading this, and I was dedicating this time, that I could have given an actual good book, the reason I am writing this is to save you, the time and boredom..don't do it...

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This review is long overdue as I have been trying to organize my thoughts on what I wanted to say about the story. I'm conflicted however it is due to personal circumstance so I want to ensure that I am fair.

As far as the actual storyline, there is no need to go in to detail as the book synopsis covers it well.  This is a workplace romance where the two try to mix business and pleasure and all of the awkwardness that ensures.  There is also a sub storyline regarding another one of Zane's employees which I actually enjoyed better.  At first it felt random as it started well in to the story but then I really started to enjoy it.  In my opinion, these two storylines could have been written independent of each other to create two shorter stories and it would have been just as good, maybe even better.

Now to keep my promise of being honest...there are two things that I struggled with.

1.  I hesitate to read many stories in this genre where the girl is still holding on to her V card.  I am no prude and don't expect a girl to wait for the perfect guy, the wedding night, or promises of forever.  What I do feel seems to be important is that if a girl holds on to it until the age of 28, then it means something to her.  In these cases I always feel like it is given up just like that for lust and I am not sure that is realistic.  Maybe it is, maybe it isn't.  It is just my opinion.  I just feel like it was rushed in this scenario.

2.  I couldn't identify with Kenley's reaction in the aftermath of her violent incident.  I feel bad about this but I felt her reaction was a little too much.  This again is personal opinion stemming from a situation I was in that was almost identical however with more people and weapons.  While I understood the alone thing, I went through that as well, I felt the rest was not similar to how I dealt.  This is just a case of my real life conflicting with the story.

Now you would think based on these two items that I didn't enjoy the story.  That is not the case, I just didn't identify with Kenley.  Knowing this, I still like the story and was entertained.  If I am being totally honest, this book caused me to have an hour long debate with my husband about how people handle situations differently.  For that, I thank Hanson as I love when a story makes me want to discuss it!

Help Wanted by Allison B. Hanson
An On The Job Romance Series #1

Two romances in one book.

Kenley Carmichael, fired from her job for something she did not do, eventually ends up working for Zane Jackson. She is eager to learn everything she can about boats and is hopeful this will be a good job for her. Zane sees Kenley as the dead ringer of the girl he crushed on in HS and remains leery of her for most of the book. The second romance is between a man working for Zane and someone he meets while visiting a relative in a care center.

This book had a LOT going on it but nothing that was new or different from many other romances I have read. It was an okay read and entertaining but did not have the WOW factor that made me care, think, question and want to be friends with the characters as I got to know them. There were some threads I could not relate to but have a feeling some readers of this book will find meaningful/helpful. I felt at times that Kenley and Zane were acting more like they would in high school than they probably would be at nearly thirty and that said am thinking perhaps this is geared more toward NA readers even though the characters are a bit older than most in that genre.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Kensington Books-Lyrical Shine for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Good read

Kenley was fired from her job because she was accused of sleeping with her boss's husband. But that can never happen because she's a virgin. Looking for another job, she landed as an assistant in Zane's business. But Zane doesn't want to hire Kenley because she looks so much like the girl who dumped him in high school. How can they resist the tension between them now?

I'm going to say this now, the book was good. Not the best, also not the most memorable but it was definitely a good book.

I like that this was straight to the point. From the beginning, there were interesting happening already. There was a time that I thought was very draggy and I just wanted to book to end.

The characters were okay. Nothing outstanding about their personalities that make them different from other romance characters, but they were okay.

I did appreciate the sub-plot/sub-romance in the book. I think it was supposed to be a foreshadowing for the next book, but I was clearly mistaken. In a way, I like Brady and Michaela's story because it has an opportunity to be something more. It just had elements that can make a story interesting.

All in all, difinitely a good read.

I would lean more toward 3.5 stars. Overall I liked the book and would recommend it. When reading it,I was moved and became emotionally invested. That being said here are the things preventing me from giving it more stars. I felt some of the relationship between Zane and Kenley could be developed more. They both had back stories that if explored deeper would've filled out the book. Also, and this is my personal taste, when reading a romance I want it to be about that couple and their journey together. Obviously they'll be other characters and brief side stories. So I really didn't like how much of the book was taken up by Brady and Michaela's romance. I felt it could've been it's own book or novella.
Like I said, overall I liked it and recommend it. And I'll read the next in the series.

This book completely stands alone and does not end on a cliffhanger. There is both on-screen sex and cursing in this one, including a few f-bombs, so if those things will make you leave a bad review, this might not be the book for you.

I have to say that this review is difficult to write because I really did enjoy the book for the most part, but at the same time, I also had some big issues with it that made this a frustrating book to read. I really liked Kenley and Zane and their story. I liked that they got to know each other before hopping in to bed and that even though Zane was imperfect, he was still a really likable romance novel hero. What I did not like was that halfway through the book a second couple suddenly appeared and suddenly a secondary story line started up. The new story line took away from Kenley and Zane's relationship developing, and frankly, it did a *gigantic* disservice to the story line of both couples.

***SPOILERS*** in this paragraph only. Michaela and Brady went from meeting for the first time and arguing, to making out on her desk literally minutes later and then on their first 'date' he confessed to having a PTS-related break and beating the crap out of someone and winding up in jail but she still just magically KNOWS that he's a safe guy and would never hurt her so she has no worries about him spending the night at her house. After knowing him for one totally unprofessional make out session and part of one evening. Seriously? Apparently her med school degree didn't come with any common sense or any smart girl self-protection. There was absolutely no development shown between them as a couple and because of that I have zero faith that they're going to make it for the long haul. Also, Michaela is the least professional person EVER. Making out with a client's caregiver in her office 30 seconds after meeting him? Getting personally involved with a client's guardian? Making major life decisions for said client without consent from their legal guardian? Those are all firing offenses - how does she still have a job? Maybe if this had been fleshed out as a novella it would have been a better story, but it felt like the author didn't think that her book was long enough so she added this story line just to be filler to make the book longer to justify the price of the book or something.

If this book had been about just Kenley and Zane, it would have been a five star read easily, but the baffling inclusion of a poorly written secondary romance plot ruined what was a fun read.

I would recommend Zane and Kenley's story to anyone who enjoys an office romance that has both sexy moments and drama and doesn't mind a sudden change of plotline mid-book.

I requested and was granted an ARC of this book via NetGalley – I was under no obligation to write this review.

Note: I received this book from the publisher via Goodreads in exchange for an unbiased review.

This book was not for me. I disliked Zane the entire book. I couldn't grasp his reasoning for hating/avoiding Kenley. It was immature. I just couldn't get past it. It ruined the book for me.

Being unfairly dismissed from her job because her boss believes she slept with the woman's husband has Kenley needing to find a new job before she runs out of money to pay for things that are essential to living the life of an independent woman. Applying for a job at New Haven Custom Boats seems perfect to give her the fresh start she needs, but working day in and day out alongside her new boss Zane Jackson proves tough, especially considering their attraction. Will Kenley be able to convince Zane to give a relationship between them a chance, or will his past demons send him running from a future filled with love, family and happiness?

I've been wanting to read a story by this author for quite a while, and this was a wonderful book to start with, as it opens a new series for Ms. Hanson. And right from the beginning, this story had me hooked and had me amused by the heroine's way of dealing with her being fired from her job. Will her friends be able to help her find something new? However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time in this book that had me wondering whether the hero would give the heroine a chance and realize that it's not her fault just because she reminds him of someone from his past.

As for the dialogue, it was riveting and entertaining and had me loving the challenges these two face on their journey to happy ever after. Will the heroine be able to win the hero over? Will she prove that she deserves the job he's given her, even though he was against giving it to her in the beginning for personal reasons? Will the hero realize that he shouldn't blame the heroine for being like someone he knew in the past? Moreover, both the main characters as well as the secondary characters were likeable, relatable and this hero and heroine had me really enjoying their growing relationship, even though the hero does his best to keep things professional since Kenley works for him. Yet, I liked that Zane found it hard to resist Kenley, as she needs him just as much as he needs her.

The heroine was smart, hard-working and I liked how determined she was to prove she was the right person for the job, which is proven by everything she does to make the hero's business life more organized and efficient. I also liked how determined the heroine was to overcome everything she goes through in this story, especially when her life is turned upside down because of a scare she has while on the job. While the hero, he's hard-working, a good brother that would do anything for his sister; and I liked how determined he was to win the heroine over, once he realized it was useless to keep fighting their attraction, especially after what happens to the heroine.

Overall, Ms. Hanson has delivered an engaging and satisfying read in this book where the chemistry was strong between this couple and had me wondering whether they'd finally get things right, even if it takes something happening to one of them for the pair to achieve their happy ever after. The way this story ended had me hoping the heroine would be able to overcome what happens to her and be able to handle what someone discovers about her past. Yet, what I liked the most about the ending is how things worked out for Kenley and Zane and the surprise he had for her. Furthermore, the epilogue wrapped this story up nicely, because of the secondary characters that find just as much as happiness as the main characters. I would recommend Help Wanted by Allison B. Hanson, if you enjoy the enemy to lovers trope, the opposites attract trope, or books by authors Kate Clayborn, Virginia Taylor, Maggie Wells and Cindy Kirk.

If you are looking for a romance with a little bit of this and little bit of that you will find it here. This book starts off with a bang. Kenley being accused of sleeping with her bosses husband and getting fired over it, thats what starts this book off. She needs a fresh start and a new job. Kenley is a smart girl and needs to find her way in the world so when she finds an ad in the paper to work on a boat, she thought this might be the change she needs. Unfortunately it is going to have to take a lot of persuading for the new boss to let her have the job. Zane has to hire someone because his sister is having a baby and will not be working after that. Zane doesn't like change and doesn't like that Kenley looks like a girl that had broken his heart in school. So he is not going to hire her. The problem is Sidney, his sister, isn't going to have it. Long story short Sidney wins and Kenley has a fresh start. There is a bunch of things that go down in this story. Love blooms, but both Kenley and Zane are afraid to see it or act on it. They have so much that has happened in their past they are afraid of commitment. Will they give in to their fears? You will have to wait and see.

I really liked Kenley she had a lot going on for her and for that it was pretty great. I loved she was strong at times but also showed her vulnerability too. She was a woman and that showed throughout the book. Zane was pretty great too. He was a jerk at times, but what man isnt. Life is full of surprises and I feel these two were the best surprise for each other. I really liked the secondary characters too. I was kind of taken back though when Brady seemed to get in the picture with his relationship. It came in the middle of the story and kind of made its way into the book. I would have really liked to see him get his own book, instead of sharing part of Zane's and Kenley's. He deserved his own, like Kenley and Zane. In all it was a good book and I did like the style of writing.

This is my first time reading this author and I did enjoy the story. I am hoping to read another book from this author sometime soon.

What a totally absorbing book from author Allison B. Hanson. Help Wanted is entertaining right from the beginning, and the high-speed boat ride never lets up. The two primary characters, Kenley Carmichael and Zane Jackson, have remarkable chemistry, and their romantic courtship is replete with discovery, desire and love. Ms. Hanson is a talented storyteller and her words kept me wanting more. This is the first book from the author's "An on the Job Romance" series, and it can be thoroughly enjoyed as a standalone.

After being wrongfully terminated, Kenley is actively looking for a new job. She ends up leaving Manhattan to work for New Haven Custom Boats, where her hot new boss prefers to interact with her via text and email. Kenley loves her new position as an Executive Production Coordinator, however, being alone in the office on most days is quite lonely. Kenley's beauty and brains are a winning combination, as her ideas for saving the company money and time are proven successful.

Zane has never been lucky in love. Kenley reminds him of his high school crush, which never amounted to anything but heartache. As a result, he is less than thrilled about hiring her, but his very pregnant sister gives him no choice in the matter. Kenley does the job perfectly and adds more value to his bottom line than he ever thought possible. Overtime, he let's Kenley in and their work relationship evolves into true love.

I truly liked this book, and the developing love connection between Kenley and Zane was quite charming. I immediately connected with both of them as individuals and as a couple. The secondary characters were unique in their own right, which added a lot of background story to the present happenings. I especially liked Zane's older sister Sidney, because her bossiness showed how much she cared. Overall, this is a terrific read and I can't wait for the second book in this brand new series.

If Allison Hanson's goal was to entice a happy sigh after reading Help Wanted, she succeeded. The Main Characters, Kenley and Zane were plain old fun. Kenley is a 28 year old virgin. Such taboo as noted "Rachel looked over her shoulder as if the Virgin Police would overhear and arrest her.: Normally when we see an older (because 28 is so old :) virgin characters they tend to be over sexy and super flirtatious, as a reader I'm thinking why does she still have the V when she is walking around with your nips out eating a Popsicle and licking her lips at everyone? How is that possible? Not the case with Kenley. She is beautiful but sex was just never a priority, well until she begins working for Zane. Mmmm Zane. Total nerdy duckling turned nerdy hunky swan. I liked watching the relationship grow. Both MC were inexperienced with grown up relationships and we got to see the struggle. As they continued to miscommunication i.e. not communicate and let their fears rule over their wants I have to admit I wanted to reach in my Kindle and shake them both. We did get a HEA so overall I loved it. We also got some secondary romance that I did NOT see coming and was very happy to get. Everyone was so REAL and I want to be friends forever. Just a few of my favored lines:
"Just make sure the person can read my mind. You know how I feel about verbal communication,"
".he'd slip his hands into her sweatpants-not the ripped sweatpants with the missing drawstring, but a sexy pear she didn't own yet."
I'm going to stop there as I could fav lines all day and I don't want to spoil the fun for others.

I will be recommending Help Wanted. Thank you Netgalley and Allison Hanson for allowing me to read and review.

I’ll admit I was intrigued by the cover on this book. It looked like a sweet summer romance and I was definitely in the mood for a sexy HEA. Well, Hanson delivered with her great story. This book was funny, clever, empowering, had some great elements of friendship and was just an overall enjoyable read. I had never read anything else by Allison Hanson, but she is now on my list of authors to watch.

I have not read a lot of virgin tropes and I wasn’t sure what to expect. By the time I was done reading the explanation, I was like, yes...this could happen :) It hooks you from the beginning because how does a virgin get fired for sleeping with her boss’s husband? (gotta read it to find out).

Kenley Carmichael and Zane Jackson can barely keep their hands off each other. But Zane is her boss and they both decide that it needs to stay professional. Kenley needs her job and Zane needs an assistant to run his business. Zane felt like he was a dork in high school and he still has some unresolved issues from back then. Should he be over them? Yes...but then there would be no drama. His sister works to set him straight and she is hilarious.

I also liked that there was a secondary romance going on. Brady was an interesting character and while their back story was not the focus, I think it complemented the main story. The story is not explicit. I tend to like a little more heat to my sex scenes...but the author did the couple justice. It’s a good weekend read when you are looking for a romantic book escape.

Well, if they're moms, who's home with the kids?

At least his boots are well-made.

He can't just expect his sister to work for him forever just because it's easier. Besides, what does he do instead of talk, grunt?

Talk about projecting.

Haha, I love Sidney and Zane's relationship.

Such a butthole. What did I say about projecting, Zane?

What's keeping Brady too busy for love?

Wow, she is really good at the sales pitch. And not in a smarmy, we-can't-wait-to-cash-your-check way, either.

He used the company card to buy her flowers? Amateur.

Chivalry is not dead.

That classmate sounds like a twat.

"After-sex journey". Nice.

His mother is crazy, and apparently has psychic powers.

Did you actually just tell her she didn't get on your nerves, Scott?

Oh, I like Michaela. She doesn't play.

Haha! It does sound like she sent Zane a sexy text!

Poor woman! I would be surprised if she didn't have PTSD after that. Imagine, she was probably safer in New York. She should take a self-defense class.

Yikes, that sucks, Michaela.

I love Brady. That is all.

I want to give Hunter a big hug.

I'm glad she was abandoned for a very good reason. Even if she ended up up in an orphanage, it still sounds like it would have been better than having to live with her real grandmother.

This was a fun, cute read! I really enjoyed it! The characters are well written and engaging. Kenley is in need of a job after being fired for something she didn't do. She ends up with an interview with Zane and his sister for a job that she wants. His sister loves her and knows that she will work out great but Zane has reservations because she looks similar to his huge crush in high school and he goes back to the feelings he had back then. He was not popular. I like the way that Kenley handles herself with what she's been handed. She does the best she can and wants to move forward. Zane and Kenley both have trouble with their feelings for the other because of the employee/employer situation along with other things. I thought that this aspect was handled very well. The business relationship really doesn't come into play except for the fact that they interact with each other because of it and the fact that it's what keeps them apart. Neither want to make a mistake and hurt the working relationship. I loved the secondary characters in this story as well. They were all well written as well and engaging. I laughed multiple times throughout this book and it was just a feel good read for me.

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/4...

Kenley lost her job in N.Y. She was accused of sleeping with her boss when she clearly didn’t do but couldn’t explain herself to her boss when she was still virgin. Now she is looking for a job in a new city, New Haven. When she finally got an interview, she felt pretty good until she met her boss.
When Zane saw Kenley, he couldn’t believe his eyes. He thought his high school crush walked into his office. (He was so miserable in high school) He thought he couldn’t hire her and decided to let her go.
Very pregnant Zane’s sister was leaving her brother within a week and he let his best candidate go because she looked so much like his high school crush. She was convinced Kenley is the best for the job and she made sure she will take over.
When she was back hired, Zane did everything to avoid the office. He would schedule business trips back to back so he doesn’t have to at the office with Kenley. (Zane was really acting childish)
When Kenley was miserable working by herself and felt uncomfortable around Zane, she decides to give her two weeks notice. From then Zane decided to act like an adult and work out his issues.
Now they are traveling together and working things out but one incident did change course of their path...

I did really like Zane’s sister and her banter with her brother.. It took a long time to warm up to Zane since he acted childish. I would give more star if Zane would grow out of his childish way a bit earlier.

I won a digital copy of this on Goodreads so thank you!

This sweet romance had a fairly low heat factor; sex scenes were short - a page or two at most - and non-graphic, for which I was grateful (I usually skim them anyway). This felt like getting two romances for the price of one, as the primary story was of Kenley and Zane's workplace romance, but there was also a secondary romance later in the book between Zane's friend Brady and Micaela. Both were good, solid stories with characters fleshed out well enough that all four felt like real, relatable people, though they could have been developed a bit more. That said, there were some truly memorable characters like the a$$-kicking sister and the warring parents.

Too often in contemporary romances, the plot twists can feel contrived and the characters end up in situations that make you roll your eyes at the stupidity. Thankfully, that doesn't happen here. Events seem to unfold naturally, and everyone acts like real people.

I'm happy to recommend this one.

This was a quick read for me. If you are looking for a cute romance, this would be one to check out. There are actually two romance stories in this book: but the main one is between Zane and Kenley.

Zane is a successful business man but not good in the relationship department. But when Kenley comes into his office for a job, his world is going to be turned upside. Kenley recently unemployed needs this job. She knows she can do the job but Zane seems to not want to hire her from just one look. But he gives in and hires her.

As their work relationship progress, Kenley finds ways to streamline the business but Zane is against them all at first. He has a hardtime keeping her in the employee part of his mind. She is what he has always dreamed of. But can Zane put the past behind him and truly see Kenley for who she is? Or will he continue to belittle her causing him to lose the best thing in his personal and professional life?

I found this book discounted on Amazon thanks to NetGalley; this is my honest review.
It's really 3.50 stars but couldn't give a full 4 stars.
The storyline is great - whatever happens with the family, friends and co-workers. There are actually two full stories in this one. I thought the secondary one was for the next book but it's not.
The sex scenes are not steamy but good.
I loved the end for both couples and I loved what Scott did for Kenley.
What I had a real problem with was that these were 28 y.o. adults and were acting like teenagers or younger. No communication. No discussions. No nothing. Based on what exactly?
The other problem I saw was what happened to Kenley when Zane was gone and Brady saved the day. It did not add to the story, just adding more problems that were just too much of in this story.

There was a lot that I really liked about this book. It was well written, the plot was great and I liked Kenley, the female MC, a great deal. I also liked Zane, the male MC, but felt that he spent a bit too long hung up on how miserable he felt in high school. As the book progressed I kept feeling impatient with him and waiting for him to grow a spine and tell Kenley how he felt! This ultimately distracted me from the romance and that was a real shame as the story had a lot of potential. I would still like to read others in the series though as some of the supporting characters seemed like they might get their own stories in the future and I thought they sounded interesting.

I must say that I expected a whole different story as it turns out to be. I expected that it will be funny and amazing but it was not. Both Ken and Zane are great characters but they are both so afraid and big cowards. If it was not the Brady and his story in between I would speed read this one and gave a lower rate. In a way, I was a bit of disappointed that Brady story was suddenly inserted in. Because those two were really interested and hat potential for me better than Ken and Zane.Ther was too many words of how afraid they both are and of course, Ken coping with the attack was annoying to read again and again.

A nice start to a new series by Allison B Hanson!

Kenley is unjustly fired from her job in New York, but finds a new position working for a boat company for Zane.

Sparks fly and they are both undeniably attracted to each other, but both face their own issues and insecurities. This of course means the path to a relationship and exploring their connection is a little bumpy.

The addition of great friends, family, and coworkers adds humor and some interesting side plots. However they don't distract too much from the main story.

I am looking forward to the next installment in the series.

This is a really enjoyable read. The characters are all well developed and I liked all of them. The author does a great job of setting up the story and developing not one but two romances throughout the book. I did get a bit frustrated with the whole "I can't date my employee/boss" and wanted to shout "get over it already" several times. Then just when you think they've gotten past that, boom, a whole new incident changes the focus and that's when Brady becomes a key player and his romance with Hunter's doctor really takes shape. In the end, both romances are nicely wrapped up. This is a new author for me, and I would read more.

Zane has after thoughts on things at the most inopportune times, "she kicked off her jeans at the same time he pulled off his pants. Then he froze. “Hell. I only had the one condom,” he said with a tortured expression." Zane sometimes just has to let his girl be in charge for a change, "he flopped down onto his back next to her and pulled her on top of him. “I’m here. Do whatever you want,” he said, pleased with himself for coming up with such a great alternative" I liked Zane and I liked this book.

3/12 Star Review.....

A story with lots of potential, but a little too much focus on Zane’s teenage self, and the delay in him growing a pair and approaching Kenley with his feelings.

A 28 year-old virgin is a bit of a stretch, but the author made it work with the physical description of Kenley, obviously being her reason for holding out. And doesn’t every woman genuinely want someone to desire them for more than their body?

Anyway, I liked the story, but hope the next book moves a little fasted.

I liked this book, it was an easy romantic read. However, I felt the story line for Kenly and Zane was long winded and needed something more. You have Kenly and Zane who immediately like each other but who both overthink everything and seem to sabotage their relationship at every turn. You then have a relationship that was developed so fast with Brady and Michael and I would have liked to see this one develop.

I liked this book. The characters were lovable. I did have trouble with the flow. The story line seemed to jump and bit and didn't flow really well. The character points of views would switch not seamlessly. I did enjoy the storylines. I would read another book by this author.

I won a kindle copy on goodreads. These opinions are my own.

in help wanted you actually get two romances for the price of one. the only thing is, that you don't actually realize this until you've hit the middle of the book. and i'm not sure that's a good thing. zane and kenley start out as our original leads. and midway through the book it feels like the author decided there wasn't enough story to stretch her word count target, so the love story of michaela and brady is added in.

but this leaves both romances feeling somewhat undercooked. and it's hard to get past some of the character's actions when you don't have enough time to fully explain or provide context for why they've done what they've done.

in the end, i was kind of lukewarm about all these characters. so it's hard to say that i would have liked this story better if each set of leads had gotten a full novel of their own. there were things i liked, but more i didn't in this one.

**help wanted will publish on september 12, 2017. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/kensington books (lyrical shine) in exchange for my honest review.

Sweet romance, interesting characters, and no cliffhanger. I liked Kenley, found her interesting and likable. Zane a bit less so, his character was bit more flat, and grumpy. Their relationship was a bit quick and forced, but overall it was a fun, quick read.

I received the book for free through Goodreads Giveaways.

Surprised!!

This was my first time reading Allison B. Hanson and it will not be my last.
The characters Kenley and Zane are relatable characters with a realistic story. My only complaint was that the sexual encounters were all from the male point of view.

Won a free digital copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway.

Liked the characters in this book well enough. I just would have preferred the two love stories to each have their own book. Written all in one book just made each story feel rushed.
