When Father's away, with Daddy Dom she'll play

Throwing tantrums may be childish behavior, but it's the only way Adrienne Westley feels she can be heard. In the middle of a tabloid scandal, her father cares more about his career than the threats to his mouthy daughter. So when bodyguard Dieter Vanderbroeck enters her home, she's shocked by his dominant presence.

Try as she might to defy him, Dieter doesn't give in to her bratty attitude. Instead, he challenges it with a commanding voice and a firm hand. His authoritative tone calls to a part of Adrienne that she's long kept hidden-and as Dieter begins to unravel her submissive nature, it becomes harder and harder to keep things professional.

Adrienne's about to find out just where bratty little girls over Daddy's knee. Because he no longer wants to be just her bodyguard-he wants to be her Daddy Dom.

Review @ Midnight Romance

One of anticipated releases from my newest fave author. High expectations turns into disappointment. I was expected the story has the same amount of kink like the previous book, Little Dancer, but it didn't work for me.

description

Adrienne Westley is a total brat in highest order. She defends herself with throwing tantrums. Adrienne didn't get along with her father because he always busy and mother in rehab. But her life turns because her father's scandal and a bodyguard, Dieter Vanderbroeck. He's trying his best to protect her but it reached his limits.

I couldn't like Adrienne. She's too childish for my taste as a 'heroine'. I didn't find any submissive-ness in her nature. She is a typical girl who lack of affection. But Adrienne didn't want her new bodyguard to invade her 'safe' zone. Slowly she kinda accept him because his authoritative aura and didn't give a fuck attitude.

description

Dieter is ready to leave Adrienne because he thinks she's just a rich childish brat. But his protective instinct tell him otherwise. Dieter is a 'self-proclaimed' dominant but I didn't feel it. His self-restraint towards Adrienne as a client makes him want to discipline her.

description

Again, this one has really different kink because it's just a play. Adrienne loves to call him 'Daddy' because it's a trend(?) and Dieter enjoys playing as her protector. It's a win-win, though. Sadly, I couldn't feel any chemistry between them and there's no heat or passion. Also the sex scene didn't impress me much and rarely happens.

The story really focused too much in Adrienne's family drama and Dieter is the major player in the process. Adrienne is kinda redeemable in the end but Dieter almost fucked it up. Overall, it was a decent read and overly sweet for my taste. Still, I will read any of her works in the future.

I didn't think I could like a DDlg book better than I did Brianna Hale's Little Dancer ... until I read this book, Princess Brat, her second standalone. I like them both for a bit different reasons—Little Dancer had more focus on smut, while Princess Brat has more focus on the romance.

But again, Brianna Hale wrote a gorgeous point of view of the sub-genre of Erotic Romance, DDlg (which, if you don't know, is "Daddy Dom" and "little girl", or better known as "Daddy kink").

If anything, Brianna's writing was stronger in this book—which excites me because it seems as if she's growing as an author, becoming more confident in her style, and that will make for some more kick a*s books.

In Princess Brat, Adrienne Westley is a spoiled little rich girl who is quite misunderstood with her pastel pink hair, smart mouth, and bad attitude.

“Don’t ask for things, little girl, if you’re not prepared for the consequences.”

After her father incites scandal among the media, Adrienne reacts with a flippant, careless remark that paints a target on her back. In need of protection, her father hires Adrienne a full-time bodyguard—Dieter Vanderbroeck.

Except this bratty princess doesn't want a goon lurking around her all day ... Until Dieter challenges Adrienne, proving that all she needs is the firm hand of a Daddy to tame the brat in her.

It would've been really easy to dislike Adrienne. She was, after all, a brat with the penchant for throwing tantrums. But you know what? I LOVED her.

She was unapologetic in the way she expressed her feelings, refusing to be quiet, and always demanding to be heard. It's inspiring, the confidence Adrienne has, to be as loud as she wants—as loud as her very bright hair, even.

“What do you think bad, disobedient girls get when they’ve been rude and bratty?”

And even as childish as she could be, there was also something extremely mature about Adrienne. While she was strong, sure, of herself, though there also was something also quite vulnerable about her. Kind of like her look—both pink and black, dark and light, skulls and bows. All complete contrasts, but together feel so right and endearing.

Dieter was the complete opposite of Adrienne. He was so cool, calm, and collected. But I could feel the beast underneath his skin, ready and waiting to burst to punish Adrienne—the naughty little brat she was. But again, it was the little moments between Dieter and Adrienne that made me love love love him so so so much. *cuddles Dieter*

And I have to say, his patience and struggle to remain professional was both commendable and growl-inducing. Though when he finally decided to punish his brat, well... *bites lip*

As a romance, Princess Brat excels. But going a little deeper into the story, I do wish there had been a bit more development into the plot—which, while it kept the story going, didn't explode enough to hit hard.

Even so, I fell in love with the characters, so the relationship between Adrienne and Dieter kept me faithful and colored to the pages and I didn't mind that much at all.

All in all, I would defiantly recommend Princess Brat for those who are looking for a slow-burn romance with serious smut and some serious misbehaving...between the sheets. ;)

Adrienne Westley is the daughter of the editor of the Herald, a newspaper embroiled in a scandal surrounding a young woman’s suicide. Hounded by reporters, Adrienne speaks without thinking and her callous remarks make her a perfect target for hate mail. Her father decides the best course of action is to hire a body guard to protect Adrienne from anyone wanting to hurt her.
Don't ask for things, little girl, if you're not prepared for the consequences.
Dieter Vanderbroeck's days in the military are over but his time as a bodyguard to the spoiled Ms. Westley is just beginning. Dieter's primary focus is Adrienne's safety but she’s used to getting her way, and doesn’t want some stranger following her around all day. Dieter has the urge to set her straight but is that his bodyguard instinct hoping for an obedient principal or his Daddy one begging for a good girl?
Dieter made me melt, he used every Daddy term of endearment designed to make me swoon. He was steadfast and had Adrienne’s best interests in mind. And Adrienne was a good foil to Dieter, she was a brat, as the title would suggest, but as we spend a good portion of the book in her head we see her desire to be a better person and her struggle with her relationship with her parents and peers; it helped me empathize with her.
But daddy, you like it when I'm a brat.
The ending of this book could have been a little bit grittier, a little darker, and I was bummed that it was just glossed over. Seeing that event through Dieter’s eyes could have really bolstered the events that followed, which I felt lacked authenticity. Though, ultimately the very end of the book was good. It was sweet without being over the top. I definitely would have liked a bit more alone time with Daddy, the steamy factor was a bit on the lower side for a quickie.

First of all, let me tell you that this book is not for everyone. If you like to read about daddy kink, you will probably love it!

The story is nice and well thought but it wasn't enough developed in my opinion. There were no major twists in the plot but it moved smoothly. The writing of Ms. Hale is pleasant and attractive. The story is written by dual POV but there was no indication whose POV it was.

Adrienne is a brat but for a good reason. I liked her in a way. She tried to make her point even if she was shouting and acting childish. There was no enough development of her character in order to actually understand her and like her.

Dieter is a rock! He is calm and has everything under control! I also liked him in a way. And again, there was no enough development of his character in order to get to know him and connect with him.

Their interactions were interesting. There was a connection among them that I could feel. There were strong emotions that I could feel. However, sometimes the feelings were so much explained that their strength was lost. It was also the same among the relationship of Adrienne and Dieter. They had a D/s relationship but it was so much explained that it lost its appeal to me.

The end of the book was nice. Finally there was balance among Adrienne and Dieter and I was happy for them.

From the book cover, to the story, to the ending, I absolutely adored this book! I rarely have time to binge read anymore but I read this book right after finishing 'Little Dancer'. Something about Ms. Hale's writing just clicks with me.

Dieter is hired as a bodyguard to protect Adrienne in the wake of a very public scandal involving her father. She does not agree to this arrangement, and fights both her father and Dieter at every turn.

A dominant Alpha, Dieter is former SAS and will do anything to protect the sassy Adrienne. The writing in this story is strong, the scenes between Dieter and his "principal" hotter than hot, and the London setting is perfect.

A total guilty pleasure from beginning to end, this book is hotter than hell with a fabulous HEA. I can't wait for Ms. Hale's next book!!

Favorite quotes:

Dieter leans down and whispers in my ear and his voice is silkier, more dangerous than ever. “Don’t ask for things, little girl, if you’re not prepared for the consequences.”

I’ve relinquished some control over to him and I…like it? I think about his hands wrapped around my wrists or my throat, and a hot sensation chases through my body.
I’m attracted to my bodyguard.

“It’s a goddamn miracle,” he mutters, his hands roving over my skin, “that I haven’t given you the spanking of your life, all the lip you’ve given me.”

Going into this, based on the description, I was honestly expecting a lot of infantile tantrums. And I'm not really sure why I expected that. I love Brianna Hale's work. She's a nuanced author, so I don't know why I was thinking this would be so... not her.

Thankfully, I was woefully mistaken. I thought Adrienne was bratty in all the right ways, for all the right reasons, and it only made the story juicier. Dieter was, as with all Hale's heroes, smoldering and sexy in an unconventional kind of way. Loved them both!

The plot itself was really interesting, and I was actually really wrapped up in that too beyond the steamy bits. A+. Would definitely recommend!

This story was a surprise for me because as a Daddy Dom/little girl story, I expected it to be driven by sex. And while an erotic romance driven by sex is never a bad thing, it was a pleasant change to see this one more character driven, exploring what was behind the couples need for the role playing and why it worked so well.

Adrienne was an interesting character. There’s no other way to describe her than as a spoiled brat. She was more childish than childlike and her only way to express displeasure was to throw a tantrum or pout. I expected to hate her, and for her character to be one big eye-roll for me, but she wasn’t as one dimensional as she could have been. There was more behind her behavior and Dieter took the time to find out why.

As her bodyguard, Dieter slipped into the Dom role very easily. As the man in charge of protecting Adrienne and shadowing her every move, it was not a stretch to throw these two together and allow him insight into Adrienne’s life and the things that happened to make her to encourage her childlike behavior. He was strong and patient and I just really liked him. They were good for one another and their roles in their relationship helped each one of them grow as a person.

I really do enjoy reading Daddy Dom books, but to me there is a fine line between making the scenario hot and making the situation creepy. I enjoy it when the little can be all pouty and “Daddy, please” in the bedroom, but outside of it still be a grown-up that just enjoys the care and attention that comes with the Daddy Dom. Likewise, I enjoy the Dom that likes to be the caring Daddy, but isn’t truly looking for a child; instead he wants someone he can care for and coddle. What I found interesting is how this author managed to make Adrienne childlike without straying into the cringe-inducing category. Adrienne loved to color and draw. She loved pink princesses and fairies. But she was also an artist, so her passion for art and color and fey creatures was more artistic than childish. She may have been doodling, but it was pictures of her as Salome and Dieter as John the Baptist. There was intelligence behind the childlike façade which really allowed me to enjoy the DD/lg roles.

I will acknowledge that this subject may not be for everyone, but I thought that it was well written and sweet and an unexpected taboo treat.

3.5 Brattiness With Meaning Stars.

Unlike a couple of other books I've read in this genre, Princess Brat really explored the heroines personality and over the course of the book, it got to the underlying root of her tantrums & behaviour.

This for me meant that I did at times struggle to connect with Adrienne, and wished Dieter would "Dom-Up" faster than he did. HOWEVER, that's completely on me & my greediness to get to the sexy stuff, their story went at exactly the right pace for them.

I would say that this is a deeper exploration into a DD/lg relationship than most "fluffy romances" delve into, and while I have no personal experience in this lifestyle, I appreciate that like all relationships, no two are the same.

It's a also little darker in a way (compared to Little Dancer), meaning the emotions it elicited from me weren't light and fluffy, and I felt like both Adrienne & Dieter learned something from their experience together - not just a case of Daddy knowing best.

Loved this! Really been on a Brianna Hale binge 🏃🏻‍♀🏃🏻‍♀🏃🏻‍♀ Only thing I didn't like was that there was this whole kidnapping thing but we literally only got pre-kidnapping and then post-kidnapping in the hospital 😭 but other than that another book I practically devoured, I loved loved loved Dieter (although I didn't love his name)

He presses cool lips against each cheek, gently opening my knees with his own, and I smile into the blankets, half aroused, half apprehensive. He licks my inner thighs and I quiver under the slippery feel of his tongue. He delves deeper and his fingers spread me open, and then he’s licking the tight bud of my ass and the slide of his tongue against such a sensitive place is so different and strange and good at the same time. “Adrienne?” he says softly, and I realize I’ve got the sheets balled in both hands. Opening my eyes and looking behind me, I say, “Yes, daddy?” “Want me to go on?”

This author does dom/sub, right. Healthy, good intentions and so much mental foreplay.

♥♥♥ 3 Never Ending Tantrums Stars

The Good. I'm sort of obsessed with Brianna Hale's writing style. It's really engaging and I easily get sucked into her worlds and descriptions. This means when the characters aren't the strongest the book itself is still pretty good.

The Bad. The MCs in this one. I found them very one dimensional. Not a whole lot of growth from either of them. Also the level of out of control, straight up tantrums from the heroine was too much. I like age play reads for the play. I want characters who can still behave like grownups when it's needed in their relationship.

The Smutty. I'm not gonna lie I didn't real feel the chemistry between these two. The actual writing of their encounters was well done, but I didn't really believe it. By the end I was definitely skimming.

M/F BDSM Romance

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Adrienne is used to getting her way by throwing a toddler temper tantrum. However, when her father hires Dieter to guard her because there have been threats against him and his family, Adrienne is not OK with it. She wants to go to school, draw, come home and be at peace. However, she hasn't been at piece in a while. She is kind of dark and twisty because she is constantly searching for something.

Dieter isn't too keen on watching this spoiled girl. He knows that she doesn't want him around and she's not about pouting and throwing a tantrum to get her way. When she starts to challenge him in ways that show him that maybe there is a hidden submissive in her, he knows how he'll get through to her.

I felt that the relationship was somewhat disjointed - they were attracted, then went cold again and the cycle would continue. I get where the author was trying to go, but don't necessarily believe that it was very successful.

I'm not normally a "daddy Dom" person - I find that to be somewhat strange, but this book did an OK just without making it all about her parental issues. Overall, this was a quick read.

This was a NetGalley pick that initially interested me because the premise sounded like something I could get into.

Unfortunately, while the story was somewhat intelligent, the characters were annoying as hell, the sex was lukewarm at best, and the erotic part of this "erotic" tale was tame, to say the least.

Adrienne was an annoying, bitchy, brat who needed a time out NOT a sexy bodyguard falling for her. Dieter had way more patience with her than I would have. Also, the whole Daddy-Babygirl thing was weird. Sure, you can have a D/s relationship but why do you have to bring your father into it. It ruins the sexiness of the whole thing if it conjures images of my dad.

All in all, the sex was boring, the main female was a toddler with daddy issues, and the eroticism fell flat.

***4 ‘Yes, Daddy’ Stars***

I enjoyed Little Dancer and when I saw that Princess Brat was going to delve back into the Daddy Dom/Little relationship I didn’t hesitate to grab it and see how this relationship would evolve and I must say I was just as fascinated by how it all evolved as as I was with Little Dancer. But what I enjoyed the most was how different the tone of this one was and though there was the issue with Adrienne’s father and the crazy fall out from that, it was a very character driven story that delved quite a bit into what a Dom/sub relationship is.

Even though Adrienne was a brat, I quite liked her. She is a product of her environment, so her acting out wasn’t that much of a surprise or shock. She handled, or didn’t handle, things in the only way she knew, even when she knew she wouldn’t get the result she wanted. What I liked about her was how she ended up processing her emotions, and all that was going on around her, and actually evolved throughout the story. I liked Dieter, and when he went into Dom/Daddy mode he was pretty damn hot, but outside of that I didn’t get that gut punch when it came to him. I think his appeal was more about how he helped to guide and settle Adrienne than him as himself. I know that’s wonky but that’s the only way I can think to explain it. He by himself was alright, but he and Adrienne together made him more.

Their relationship and how it evolved fascinated me. I don’t know if I felt a deep connection between them, but I saw how they both had what the other needed and were more than willing to give it to the other. Adrienne needed the comfort and security of a “Daddy” and Dieter needed someone to care for. I really liked how the Daddy/Little relationship was explained and that it was explained. What the purpose of it was for both of them. How it helped them deal with their emotions and grow. The sex that does occur was hot, but also on the light side of things in comparison to Little Dancer. Overall though I found their journey intriguing and liked where they were at in the end.

While the romance didn’t really move me, I really liked watching how the Daddy/Little relationship between them evolve and how it’s significance to each of them was explained. That insight was what captivated me. If you’re even slightly curious about the lifestyle and don’t mind a bit of spanking, then I’d say give this one a go.

Princess Brat by Brianna Hale tells the story of the bratty Adrienne Westley and her bodyguard Dieter Vanderbroeck. Adrienne's father has a problem. His newspaper ran an article and then the girl it was about committed suicide. Adrienne's typical defense of "I don't care" comes back to bite her and now she has her own problem, people who now think she is an ok target for their hatred of her father and his newspaper, but her more immediate problem is the troglodyte who has been hired to protect her.

At first Dieter suffers her tantrums, but as he gets to know her, he sees that they are all she has every known, what her parents do, and the only way she can get attention. As things spiral out of control for Adrienne's father in an investigation that digs deeper into improprieties at his paper, Adrienne is left on her own with Dieter and slowly things start to heat up. He is an experienced Dom and he starts to recognize that his ward is very much in need of discipline, and not the kind he can provide as her bodyguard.

I kind of had a love/hate relationship with this book. I liked that Dieter guided her and helped her try to behave better and give her parents chances to relate. I both liked and disliked how long it took for their relationship to develop. There was a realism there, but I also kind of wanted faster and less process. Adrienne is definitely a tantrum throwing brat, and that can be wearing, but it gives Dieter opportunities, and once he starts to take advantage of them the book heats up. I would have liked things with more raw emotion and urgency, but I do find that the way things played out were more relatable and relevant to the real world.

In the end if you are looking for a book with a bodyguard turned Daddy/Dom that resonates with real world pacing, then Princess Brat is that book.

"Princess Brat" by Brianna Hale is a delightful and steamy romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. The story revolves around a spoiled, headstrong young woman and her stern, no-nonsense guardian. As they navigate their complicated relationship, sparks fly, and the tension between them escalates into a passionate and intense romance.

What I loved about this book was the way it balanced humor and heat. The characters are well-developed, with the protagonist's bratty demeanor playing perfectly against the guardian's strict attitude. Their banter and chemistry kept me hooked, and the emotional growth both characters experience added depth to the story.

Overall, "Princess Brat" is a fun, spicy read that's perfect for anyone who enjoys a mix of humor, drama, and romance.

My critique points are easy:
I missed the little headspace. In the book, Adrienna was discribed as „little“( in form of bdsm) but had two scene where she in fact was close to beeing in a little headspace . The nickname and him beeing called daddy where more or less the only sign of power exchange.

+ if you are looking for a book with a plotwist or story with a lot of background, that’s not the story for you.
The story had a plotwist in the amount of one page and tbh, it really can’t be called a plot twist more likely a switch of time ( 1-3 hours)

3 stars for me here.

I've read my fair share of Dom/sub stories but daddy Dom is definitely a first for me. I don't dislike it, it's a taboo subject but the author wrote it in such a way it was definitely erotic and made me curious. While I didn't hate this story it's also definitely not my favourite. I found the story to be lacking in well.. an actual story. I understand the stuff about her father even though it wasn't described all that great. The mother had even less explanation. I get the daddy Dom thing is a big part of this story but if I'm honest there isn't much that kept me engaged except mild curiosity about a subject I haven't yet read about.

I don't know how I feel about Adrienne. A lot of me dislikes her spoilt brat attatuide and ridiculous outbursts. Yet another side of me feels sorry for her because the girl doesn't have any support at all. I enjoyed her when she was stable and more adult like in attitude. She definitely had a witty humour and seemed sweet when stated. But I didn't connect with her at all. I don't feel like I know enough about her to be able to if I'm honest. I know she expresses herself through her clothes, hair and art. I get she doesn't have a good relationship with her parents but I don't have much else to be honest.

Dieter again is an iffy one for me. I enjoyed his strong silent personality with this secret Dirtiness hidden like the calm before the storm. But I just didn't connect with him!. I know he had an accident in the sas and is now a security guard. But I don't know much else. He played around with Adrienne at first which for me dragged on to long then when he finally went there and then something happens he picks up and leaves!!. Again with little explanation just a time jump to 6months later.

It's not a bad book I gave it 3stars because it has so much potential and I did enjoy some of it however for me personally there isn't nearly information to fill in the gaps. I don't know enough to connect with the characters. It just fell flat for me when my expectations were high. I do like that the author is original in her writing. The sex it great in here and the characters do have a connection when their good. It's not bad just neither here or there for me.

She doesn't want someone following her around. She trys to make him quiet but the harder she trys the more he pushes back and the more she starts to want him to stay. She can see that he cares for her and she starts to see him as more than a bodyguard more like a Daddy! She needs to be heard and Dieter is the only one willing to listen.

Dieter is an ex military man turned bodyguard. He is hired to protect Adrienne and no matter how much of a pain she is and no matter how much she trys to get him to quite he will stay. He sees that she is so much more than the spoiled brat everyone else sees. She is hurting and he wants to protect her in a more unprofessional way. He wants her!! So he takes her! He's her daddy now and he will protect her always.

Princess Brat by Brianna Hale is what I would call a junk food read...fast, quick moving story, page turner, can't put it down! If your a fan of Daddy Dominants/submissive then this is the book for you.

Adrienne is a spoiled, temper-tantrum woman who feels that it's the only way to be heard.  She only wants to use her artistic skills to draw and attend her art classes and be left alone.  But when her father is taken away and her mother is absent, her new bodyguard Dieter, flips her life upside down.

Dieter has been battling his Dominant side towards Adrienne's smart/disrespectful mouth. All is he trying to do is protect her, but when Adrienne is pushed too far and calls him "Daddy",  Dieter steps up and puts her in her place.  Unbeknownst  to Adrienne, Dieter's Dom persona calms her and shows her how to be a good girl.

Brianna Hale wrote a fantastic book of the sub-genre of Ddlg which is "daddy kink". Ms. Hale's writing is strong, powerful and her usage of terms regarding "daddy" is non-Taboo and she excels! Wonderful fast read!!

Princess Brat was everything I was hoping for.
Dieter is a bodyguard that secretly has a very kinky side to him. His job is to protect Adrienne. It's not easy though, you see Adrienne loves to misbehave and gets a kick every time Dieter loses control ;)

When Father's away, with Daddy Dom she'll play.

I will say this book is not for everyone, it's hot, dirty, and full of smutty goodness. If you like daddy kink, you will love Princess Brat.

This is my first book I have read by Brianna Hale, and I will most definitely read more from her in the future!
