Simple, challenging, and attainable, Yoga Bug creates a wonderful bonding opportunity between you and the little person in your life. Each pose is described at the back so you don't have to look up how to do them and the pages are adorned with vibrant and amusing illustrations.
My friend’s toddler had me go through this book with her. We did the various yoga poses in this book. She was pretty good at the moves! It was pretty fun. The only thing that threw me off is they rename all the poses to other names. For instance, happy baby became flipped beetle (even though I think happy baby would’ve been a perfectly fine name to stick with) and child’s pose became ladybug.
Yoga Bug is a surprise hit at our house! Initially, this wasn’t one my favorite yoga titles because I didn’t find the illustrations or instructions to be very clear. But, Little Ginkgo is in love. He loves bugs, so I’m sure that helps. If you already know the poses and don’t need explicit instructions, this book is a cute choice. Each page has an illustration of a toddler doing a yoga pose next to a bug doing the same pose. Little Ginkgo loves the “flipped beetle” pose, which is this book’s version of “happy baby.” He hands me the book saying, repeating from the text on this page—”wiggle, jiggle.” This book has quickly become part of our daily rotation.
Absolutely adorable board book! My son loves to watch and do yoga poses with me and I've been working on breathing exercises with him to help him calm down in his toddler tantrums. This makes connections between yoga shapes to bugs, in very cute and vibrant illustrations. It's very accessible, hands-on, and fun. Highly recommend!
A cute board book on simple Yoga poses for little ones. Children ages 3 and up can benefit from this introduction to poses such as: Flipped Beetle, Grasshopper, and Butterfly. We will use it to coach our families.
Yoga Bug is a joyful, beautifully designed introduction to yoga for the very youngest children.
The playful insect theme is instantly engaging fluttering like a butterfly, wiggling like a beetle, and twisting like a grasshopper makes movement feel fun, imaginative, and completely accessible for infants and toddlers. The flow of poses is gentle and intuitive, encouraging kids to move their bodies naturally while laughing and playing.
What really stands out is how thoughtfully this book balances authentic yoga practice with age-appropriate storytelling and illustration. The bright, whimsical artwork invites repeat engagement, while the simple language makes it easy for parents, teachers, and caregivers to guide little ones through each pose.
The included parent guide is a wonderful bonus, offering helpful context and tips that make this book not just adorable, but genuinely useful. Yoga Bug is a fantastic resource for encouraging body awareness, calm, and joyful movement from an early age.
A lovely, confidence-building book that children will want to return to again and again.
I also read Yoga Bear, and I like the Bugs better. They really fit the poses and beg participation. Same feedback as Yoga Bear: I think the real pose names should also be on the page they are featured, as I found myself trying to remember them anyway (they are on the last page, so at least that helps).
Love this series, and this one is perfect for our living world unit with insects! New and familiar bugs are included, and offers several ways to extend and scaffold two year olds learning.
