It’s so difficult to rate a devotional. While they are all ultimately bringing us closer to Jesus, some just inspire just a bit more than others. This one was average.

In all honesty, I had one a couple years ago that set the bar unreasonably high and since then, none have lived up to the expectation.

This one is wonderful to take with you on vacation for a travel devotion, but I like something with a bit more substance for my daily devotion.

A wonderful devotional with a daily Bible verse along with a relatable, encouraging short story by a woman. I'm thoroughly enjoying this beautiful devotional and it has become a special part of my day.

I love this devotional! More importantly, both my teenage daughters love it and are using it for their own personal devotions! I think this would make an excellent gift for a woman who needs to be encouraged that God does hear her!



It starts with a scripture passage, a featured verse, and then a short devotional, that is related in someway to the scripture. A small, beautifully designed hardcover book, it would be easy to carry with you on a business trip, to visit family, or a vacation, or to keep in your desk at work. My copy is on my bedside table for easy assess.

I’ve always enjoyed reading “The Daily Bread” devotionals so I was very excited about getting to review this book since it was published by the same writers. I am really enjoying the daily lessons. They’re easy to read and there is a Bible verse for every lesson. While these lessons seem to be very simple, they really do have a lot of wisdom behind them. And they have the same feeling of encouragement that I remember from “The Daily Bread” devotionals. I’m finding that starting my day with the addition of a daily message from this devotional, in addition to my Bible study, really helps me to start my day off with a better perspective. Thank you Netgalley and Our Daily Bread Ministries for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this encouraging book!

A nice addition to your daily study

If you are looking for something simple and thought provoking to add to your daily Bible reading, than this would be a nice companion. The words of each author are touching while the scripture readings challenge you to dig a little deeper.

I don’t typically add devotionals like this to my regular quiet times. I like challenging devotionals most of the time. Lately, I have had a lot of challenges in life and I needed something simpler to guide my readings. Each day felt like a little hug as I read the words these ladies put to paper for us. I knew most of the passages but the reminders where just right.

My Thoughts on God Hears Her:
We have used Our Daily Bread devotionals for years and I was excited to receive a copy of God Hears Her to review. It has not been disappointing at all. The personal stories are inspiring. The scriptures that are used are always inspiring and somehow just what I needed to hear.

Quotes throughout are inspiring and I find myself wanting to share them with everyone I know.

Do you need a gift for the women in your life? This is it. This is the gift that will keep on giving all year long because as long as she reads this daily she will daily have encouragement. I’m afraid I couldn’t wait to read this so I read multiple pages a day and it didn’t last me very long. But! The good thing about devotionals like this is that I can just restart when I finish no need to worry about the dates.

Highly recommend Our Daily Bread devotionals and specifically this book. You’re going to love it. This would also be great for teen girls as it’s just a devotional with no questionable content.

This one-year devotional book offers 365 one-page devotionals written by women who write for the daily devotional periodical Our Daily Bread. The entries are quick to read but present something to think about during the day. They each begin with a suggested Bible reading, which add to the accompanying message shared. The topics are ones anyone can relate to, such as relationships, spiritual growth, natural disasters, and a host of others we face regularly. The stories give honest glimpses into the lives of the writers, whose biographies are listed in the back of the book. Some daily readings are more personal, and others are written in third person about things in the world or Scriptural teachings. The book would be a great way to start or end the day or for a quick pick-me-up whenever you have a break. And if you get behind, it’s easy to catch up since they are short. Although it’s suggested for use by women, I think men would be blessed by it too. It could even be used read aloud as a family devotional for couples or those with older children. Its content is very basic, though, so great for new believers. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.

God Hears Her: 365 Devotions for Women by Women by Our Daily Bread Ministries is a lovely devotional for women. It has a beautiful hardcover with a page for each day of the year. It is a compact size at 6 ½” by 4 ½” which makes it easy to take with you (if you desire) and it fits nicely on top of my Bible. There is a foreword written by Elisa Morgan which I found enlightening. On each day there is a scripture passage, a short story (in a way) or verse, and then a short devotional that relates to the scripture passage. They are easy to read, and I found them encouraging. Each page is thought provoking, enlightening and positive. Reading each page is a great way to start or end a day (depending upon your schedule). It would also provide a nice pick-me-up in the middle of the day. I like that at the end there is information on the writers of God Hears Her. God Hears Her is especially beneficial for those new to the faith, but seasoned Christians will find new insights (I know I did). I am glad that I picked up God Hears Her as it is a wonderful addition to my daily devotions.

This devotional is easy to read and the right size to carry in a purse to use when ministering to others. The 365 daily devotions are written by women with a scripture passage to read, one emphasized verse that is followed by a short devotional thought. Women can glean something from the devotional that will encourage or strengthen their own faith. The daily devotions are perfect to start or end the day on a positive. It would have been nice if a plan to read the Bible through in a year had been included in devotional book. .

A wonderful little devotional that provides quick daily messages to reflect on throughout your day. If you're wanting depth there are plenty of other books out there. However, I enjoyed the simple truths that this devotional provides. It has been a nice part of my daily routine this year.

A great devotional for women of all ages in all points in life. I love Our Daily Bread devotionals already, and reading ones from all the ladies is fun. I kept up with it every day for the 365 devotionals, having some favorite writers along the way. A few of them missed the mark for me, either not relatable to my point in life or they went with one idea… and made the call to action completely different. Maybe when I read it again it’ll hit different, but in the end it was a fun time reading before I start my day, or ending my day.

I've been testing out this devotional for the last month. God Hears Her, brought to us by the folks at Our Daily Bread, is a daily breath of fresh air. The daily devotions include a bible verse and a short encouragement. This devotional is perfect for us busy moms with little time in the morning or for someone looking for a quick dose of mid-day encouragement. I have an array of other devotionals and I'm definitely adding this book to my arsenal. Thank you to the publisher for this advance reader in exchange for my honest review.

Compiled by Our Daily Bread, “God Hears Her” is an affirming devotional collection by women, for women. Among the plethora of devotionals to choose from, what sets this collection apart is not only the exclusively female authorship, but also the focus on women’s needs. This could be read by other groups, but will speak most to a woman’s heart. Because of its compact size, “God Hears Her” will fit into a handbag or purse, and although unpaginated, the readings are dated by month and day. This worked well for me because I am using a hardback copy, but if an e-reader wants to jump to a certain day or selection, I can foresee this being a problem. I personally would have appreciated a table of contents with the title of each day, simply for ease of use and for concentrating on a particular topic after completing the year of readings.

Each day’s reading is one small page in length, with the Bible verses pertaining to the devotional story listed and the main verse written out. With a short paragraph or two each dedicated to the author’s story and the Biblical tie-in, these can be read in a minute or two. This brevity is advantageous for the busy woman, and I appreciate that about it, but at the same time I feel somewhat unfulfilled. For newer Christians or those unfamiliar with the Bible, this is probably not the best devotional to start your study with, but if you are looking to mix up your routine and want to choose something that is quick and pertinent to women today, give “God Hears Her” a try.

Our Daily Bread was always a staple in my home when I was growing up...there was always one on my parents' night stand (I believe that there still is) and also usually somewhere else in the house as well. I began reading them when I was about 12 years old because I liked the shortness of them and the vivid stories that were provided in each devotion.

This book, produced by Our Daily Bread is a bit different from the standard devotions because it is written for women by women. The devotions focus on God's nearness and the fact that He knows us intimately and always hears us. 

I still love the quick reading time of each devotion. They take me about 1-2 minutes to read but still give me something to ponder throughout the day. They are short but still go deep. I also appreciate that each devotion begins with a verse of scripture, as well as the reference that can be delved into further, if the reader wishes to do so. 

The compact size of the book is great, it's the perfect size to slip into a purse or the glove box of your car so that you can grab it whenever you need some "Jesus time". There are 365 devotions that are dated so it's easy to keep track of your journey. The cover is beautiful and there is a satin ribbon bookmark attached to keep your place. 

This is an excellent devotional book. I always feel that you can't go wrong with anything by Our Daily Bread. I highly recommend it!

I have been reading Our Daily Bread devotionals for many years now so when I first heard of God Hears Her I knew I wanted to read it. These 365 daily devotions are written by women for women. I was encouraged and renewed as I read along. We can certainly know that when we pour our hearts out to God, He truly does hear us.
There are short bios in the back for each of the 19 women that contributed to this devotional. Though my children are adults now, the ones that pulled at me the most were the ones where small children and their faith stood firm. “A little child shall lead them.” One five year old loved church so much that he cried when he couldn’t attend. He would walk into children’s church and declare, “Let’s get this party started!” We should be as enthusiastic. A two year old wanted a cookie from the batch his mother was baking. She told him not until after supper. He cried and headed to his room. He returned shortly and informed his mother that Jesus said he could have a cookie. She told him, no he didn’t, to which he said, yes he did, you just weren’t listening. How many of us miss what God is trying to tell us because we aren’t listening? But we can certainly know that He does hear our cries to Him. This devotional is one that would be a blessing to any woman (or man) and also make a great gift for any occasion.

I have fond memories of Our Daily Bread growing up. I was thrilled to see what their devotional would look like. The devotions are written by women to share with other women. It is a small book just like you remember from the little paperback booklets. This is tad larger and a hardback book. The cover is pretty with the blue background and flowers on the edges.

Each devotional is spread out on one page. The devotional is dated by dates for all 365 days of the year. I personally don’t work by the days and don’t start them on January 1st!
That is okay as they aren’t related to any date.

The devotionals have a topic title and underneath it is the scripture address along with the scripture itself. The devotionals were good. I personally felt that a lot of them would be beneficial for new believers. That’s not to say that those of us who have been believers for many years don’t need to be reminded of our roots.

In the back of the book it tells you about the ladies who wrote the devotions in the book.

Overall this is a lovely devotional that would make a wonderful gift and for some personal study to add to your daily Bible reading.

It is no secret that I love Bible Studies and Devotionals. There are so many to choose from that it would take me a lifetime to get through them which is perfect for me. This devotional caught my attention because of several reasons. I loved the cover and find that it is very inviting. The pocket size is perfect for me to take to doctor appointments because we all know that an appointment for the doctor is just a suggestion of when you will be seen. The last and most important reason I like this Devotional is because it speaks to my heart.

It is designed to be used each day for a year. In most books the author includes a forward which I always read. This one was really good as it prepares us for what is in store for us each day so I hope you take time to read it. Inside the book you will find personal stories and stories from the bible that relate to the topic of the day. I have started this book and have enjoyed every day with topics that are easy to apply to my life. I also like the suggestion of scriptures to read each day as well. The book has a permanent place on my table which I read every day. This would be a perfect gift to give someone to encourage them in the Word.

This book is a delightful read!

I enjoyed thumbing through these pages because each page was filled with a devotional for that day, starting in January and ending in December. There are not years dated in this book so the reader can read these daily devotionals anytime of any year.

The devotionals are short and to the point. They start with a Bible verse, pack a powerful punch and end with the writer's first name. I liked it how the publisher only included the first name of each devotional writer because it gave the book a personal touch, making it feel like each devotional was a short and sweet letter sent to you by a dear friend.

This book makes a wonderful gift that will encourage the heart, inspire the soul and educate the mind. I'd recommend it for anyone: new believers, seasoned believers and those who may have lost their relationship with their First Love (Jesus Christ).

"God Hears Her" is a beautiful reminder that there is a God who cares and He's there for you. But not only is He there for you, He hears and answers your prayers!

God Hears Her: 365 Devotions for Women by Women is a heartfelt devotion from Our Daily Bread. Each daily selection is short and does not take a long time to complete. It is a lovely devotional for any woman,

The day’s reading has a title, short scripture to read, a key verse is listed, and then a well written devotional ties it together. If you have ever read Our Daily Bread this will look familiar. The story applies the scripture to our lives and is encouraging.

The dates are listed so it is simple to pick up this book and begin reading it at any day of the year. There is a wide variety of daily themes for inspiration. Encouragement in hard times, admonition against sin, realizing that God hears our prayers, conquering fear, guarding our hearts, are just a few of the many topics covered.

I love this beautifully covered, thought provoking book. Its devotions can be easily read within five minutes. This provides the perfect way to begin or end your day. I highly recommend it. It would make a thoughtful gift for any occasion, holiday, or as a “just because” gift. 5 star rating from me! A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but these are my own, honest words.

My Thoughts: This is a wonderful devotional for women. It is full of encouragement, hope, and joy. Women will love this; with a lovely floral cover to easy to read devotions inside. Each day there is something to glean from, some encouragement for a hard day, or just something for the reader to think about. Well written from a source you can trust. Our Daily Bread has been bringing devotions to readers for years. Each day gives you scripture reading and then the writer's thoughts for the reader to ponder. I really enjoy this devotional and it's beautiful enough to give as a gift.

What a beautiful devotional! Our Daily Bread has been a trusted source of devotionals for years. I remember my mom going through her free devotional book every morning. It was a treasure for her to lead her into her time with God. This is a beautiful, more permanent edition of those free books. I love how beautiful the cover is and think this would be a lovely gift for someone who needs help to get themselves into the habit of daily Bible reading. I like that the book has short little statements about the passage and making it relevant to women in today's world, but still focuses a passage of scripture. The priority is God's Word and I appreciate the way Our Daily Bread puts a focus on it with such simple and sweet passages to help direct the believer. While I would hope most mature Christians would turn first to the Bible, I think books like this are very beneficial to new Christians, or Christians who are going through a time when it is hard to spend the time with God. I also love that this book is for a full year, and that it is not dated for a particular year so that it can be read over and over again or passed on to another person.

God Hears Her is a devotional book that is for women, by women. It is a 365-day devotional book written by female authors from Our Daily Bread. Each devotional gives a suggested Scripture reading, followed by a key verse, and then the devotional thoughts. Knowing that the devotionals have come from Our Daily Bread gives comfort and credibility, because as a long-time reader of Our Daily Bread, I know that they will be scripturally sound. And knowing that they are written from the hearts of other women gives comfort. The forward by Elisa Morgan is especially encouraging.

God Hears Her is a beautiful book. It is a hardcover book, with a tastefully-designed cover. Inside, the pages have a different design than what one usually finds in Our Daily Bread, which makes it appealing for women. A ribbon bookmark adds to its charm and makes the book very appropriate for giving as a gift.

You will want to snuggle into your favorite chair as you read this touching 365 day devotional. God Hears Her is written for women of all ages by women.

I thoroughly enjoyed these lovingly crafted words by several Christian women authors. Friend, whatever season you are in in your life, you are sure to find comfort and joy within these words.

I smiled, cried, and nodded along as I read the stories these relatable, transparent women told. This devotional is written in short one-page personal story form.

I was touched by how charismatic these women are. I felt as though I was sitting face to face with a friend over coffee.

I highly recommend this book. It is truly a treasure, one I am pleased I read. Within its pages, you will find comfort, joy, serenity, and hope. God is truly glorified within.

I loved this book of devotions written especially for women, by women.  Not only does it have a beautiful hard cover and nice page design, it is encouraging, inspiring, and comforting.  Each daily reading begins with a short Bible passage and is followed by a well-written, thoughtful devotion that applies the passage to our daily lives.  It’s easy to being reading this book as you go to the current date to read.  Each day’s reading has a specific purpose: Encouragement in hard times; admonition against sin; realizing that God hears our prayers; conquering fear; guarding our hearts—the list goes on.

These devotions can be easily read within five minutes, and is just the right length to read first thing in the morning to begin your day.  I am enjoying reading through this book.  This book would also be great for a thoughtful gift for any occasion.

I grew up reading "Our Daily Bread" devotionals as a family around the dinner table, so I was glad for the chance to get "God Hears Her: 365 Devotions for Women by Women". I found the book to be encouraging. The devotions are dated so you can keep on track, but aside from a few around Christmas time, they are not geared for any particular season/holiday that I could see. Each day has a title, the reference is given to a Bible passage to read, a key verse is printed, and then the devotional. The devotions are short and quick and it would be easy to work them into your daily routine. They aren't extremely theologically deep, but are quick story reminders of Biblical principles.

This book is very attractive in appearance with its beautiful hardback cover but the contents are what I found most appealing. God Hears Her has 365 one-page devotionals and it is a perfect addition to my devotion time. Nineteen authors who are contributors to Our Daily Bread share their thoughts about selected Bible scripture and they cover subjects that are pertinent in all of our lives. The HER in the title implies that this is a book for women but I think that anyone reading it will be challenged and encouraged; there are even some entries that I can share with my granddaughter.

I am a fan of the publication Our Daily Bread and I'm always searching for devotionals to help me grow as a Christian so I can heartily recommend God Hears Her.

This is put out by the Our Daily Bread Ministries. I've read their daily devotionals (in the small pamphlet form) for years, and I've always enjoyed them.

This is a nice little collection of devotions, written by women for women. It's encouraging and inspiring, and the entries are short enough to fit into a hectic schedule. Each day includes a Scripture verse, along with the message. It's a wonderful reminder that God hears our prayers, even when we think He's not listening. It's a year-long devotional book. I read an electronic copy, and I do prefer my devotional books in print. I'll have to look for this one (as it's a 2017 release), as it'd make a nice addition to read through again during my daily devotional time.
