Fury of Surrender by Coreene Callaghan
Dragonfury book 6. Paranormal dragon shifter romance. Best read as part of the series.
Forge doesn’t remember the death of his family and it’s causing problems. Hope is a hypnotherapist and is brought into the secret lair to help Forge.
Hope and Forge are true mates. This book is them getting to know each other, dealing with his hidden issues and her getting used to dragon issues. Fortunately the other females to the dragon from the previous books are in residence and help Hope understand and accept her new reality.
This story also contains the two different dragon sept enemies and their situations. Ivar is working on a solution to saving the females that he accidentally poisoned, one who may be his own mate. I’m guessing we see his book soon and he won’t be much of an enemy anymore.
The other is Zidane of the Krkonose mountain range in the Czech Republic who has violence on his agenda.
So an overall arc continues of an anticipated war in this long awaited book. The main story is each dragon finding their true mates. They are very tortured emotionally but finding their mate solves and soothes their soles.
Here Hope is strong and determined to help.
And who doesn’t love Daimler. Butler, house magician, sounding board, and provider of all things chocolate.
I look forward to reading more of this series.

What an awesome Dragon shifter series! I have to thank my Goodreads friend Barbara for pointing this author out to me. I requested this ARC from NetGalley because she recommended this series to me awhile back.
I loved this unique take on dragon shifters. I have not read previous books in the series, so there are a few questions that I still need answered, but it didn't take away any enjoyment of the series away. In fact it just has my wanting to start with book one and read them all.
I highly recommend this for PNR lovers. It was well written, a unique approach to a saturated subject and will draw in the protective Hero fans. Loved it!

Dragons are back!
4 1/2 "Dragons are back!" Stars!!
I loved this story. I've been waiting for Forge's story from the beginning and Ms Callahan did not disappoint. It took a while, but it was worth the wait for fans of the series. Forge and Hope were great, even though there was a lot going on and the focus in this one was on the general arc of the series a lot, I still enjoyed it. There was enough romance to satisfy me. Looks like there may be a turn in the bad guy situation. Love it! Can't wait to see what's next. Happy reading!

According to some questions the author answered here on Goodreads, this book was due March 2016.
Half a year from March...
and still nothing.
Well, I suppose something came up, and the book got delayed.
Which is fine by me.
Mostly.
I can wait, and more or less patiently too.
In any case, I would always rather have it properly written however long that might take, than for for the author to hurriedly toss something together just to meet some deadline.
Plus I must confess, I am little afraid of this installment. Supposedly it will be about Forge, and truthfully I either expected his book to be a later one, or - if book 6 "has to be" his - to be a lot farther along in the story by this installment. All in all, at this point I am not sure what to think. On one hand I suppose it makes sense for Forge's to be the next story and I really want to get my hands on it, while on the other it feels as though Fate is cruelly messing around with the poor guy. Hopefully the amount of time and energy that seems to be invested in this book means it will be a great one.
Miss Callahan, some information on what on Earth is actually going on with the novel would be real nice though.
Anyways, now I am going back to waiting.

I absolutely adore this series! A few things stopped me from enjoying this installment as much a I wanted to, however.
#1. After waiting TWO YEARS for this one to publish, it was horribly frustrating to jump right in with all the characters making an appearance right at the first like it was only yesterday. I would strongly suggest a (re)read of the previous installments before beginning this one if you want to get the most out of it. I just don't have the time to do that so was left trying to remember the characters from all 5 previous books without any explanations. And, with the amount of books being published each year nowadays, it just isn't viable to expect perfect recall otherwise. I ended up constantly going back to the previous books to try and figure things out.
#2. As much as I love the character of Forge and liked Hope, this story felt more like filler. You know, like those movies where they split one book into two movies, then try to stretch the storyline out until they can get to the really good stuff. There wasn't a whole lot going on in this book. Not at all like the previous high action installments. That may not be such a bad thing but when one is expecting that action only to find a quieter romance where things just kind of progress and build towards something in a future book, it may be disappointing.
#3. I know this may just be because I read so many books each month but I am REALLY getting tired of the "I'm not good enough for her, it will never work" whine-trope from the Alpha heroes! C'mon, can we not think of another trope by now?!? This one is so overused and there are a bazillion different ways to get to that happy ending!! Pahlease give us something more!
Whew - that all being said, I still love the world, the Nighfury men and the women they love. So, I'll be (im)patiently waiting for the next book!

In Fury of Surrender we have the sixth and long awaited installment, this is where we are gifted with Forge's story. I have been captivated by this character from the beginning. A Scottish dragon with an infant son? I just can't resist and boy is he one sexy dragon in this book. Forge is struggling with the memories of the killings of his family and its driving him to the point of insanity. So the dragonfury clan decided to bring in some outside help, a healer of the mind. Hope Cunningham is a therapist, and is always looking for a way to help those with mental or emotional struggles. But Hope herself, is still struggling with some painful memories. Memories of losing her twin brother, being killed and bleeding to death. She uses a punching bag to keep the pain at bay. When she is asked to heal a friend of a friend, she is more than willing especially when she hears of his struggled. But from their first meeting, its apparent that there is much more to this pair. There is a powerful sexual chemistry that sizzles between them. While Forge and Hope work through their emotional pain and embrace their feelings for each other, a true love builds between them.
Forge desired her. She craved him. So yeah. She would take what she wanted. All the reasons it was a bad idea would have to wait. She was jumping in feetfirst. To hell with the consequences.
Fury of Surrender was a pretty wonderful story and I couldn't put this one down. I really was swept away by these two and also by the other members of the Dragonfury Clan. Seeing all these wonderful characters was simply wonderful and some mysterious occurances happen that make me wonder what this author has in store for us in the future. I was drawn into this story mostly because of seeing the way that these two were with each other. Our heroine is simply wonderful for Forge. She has a calming influence on him, especially on his memories. I did like the way she is with the other women too. They form an instant friendship with each other, and I loved that they just include her as if she has always been a part of their tight group. I did find it interesting to see Hope and Forge come together in this one. It was a bit different than the previous books. It did have a more "rushed" feeling at times, but I think that was due to the shorter length of the story. But Callahan has a way of captivating my interest pretty quickly. I never wanted to let go of these characters, most especially Forge and Hope. They are characters that make you want to cheer them on and win in the end!! And they surely do find their own HEA. A FULLY GRATIFYING ROMANCE!

Superb! The Dragonfury series has thoroughly captivated me and, at this point, I am entirely within Coreene Callahan’s thrall. Fury of Seduction delivers excitement, romance, and anticipation on multiple levels.
In an effort to help hidden Scottish heir, Forge, recover memories of his family’s assassination, the Nightfuries bring in a human hypnotherapist. Hope Cunningham is perfect for the challenge, not only because she’s a brilliant psychologist, but also because she is Forge’s true mate. Faithful to the now familiar pattern of intense attraction vs extreme self doubt that typifies each couple’s introduction, Forge and Hope thankfully demonstrate more efficiency of insight than their previous counterparts. At least Forge only briefly considered giving up Hope for her own protection. Thank goodness Hope doesn’t actually run away screaming when she finds out he’s a dragon.
Layered into Forge’s story is the much anticipated development concerning apprentice, Mac’s, water dragon tattoo. Mac’s mysterious tattoo has been behaving dangerously and, much as he would like to be focussing on 1) recovering lost memories and 2) tending to Hope, Forge needs to put his friend’s life ahead of all else.
Spin in the happenings of their enemies on both sides of the Atlantic, and we have one busy instalment. I can see Dragonfury maturing in both the richness of the storyline and in the improved clarity of the writing. There is more that is happening and less time spent ruminating. I strongly recommend reading the previous books in order. This one checks off all my boxes for a full 5 stars.

It took me awhile to get into this story because I didn’t remember the specifics. I wish that authors would do some recap in the beginning if a new book just to remind the reader of plot thus far.
I was happy that we finally got to learn what was going on with Forge.
Forge and Hope happened a bit quicker than i would have liked but their chemistry was fire. The Irish Water dragon was definitely a good match for Hope, who was no stranger to loss. I was most intrigued by Ivan who was showing signings of not being a complete evil villain and that the author was laying the foundation for redemption.
I liked this addition to the series and hope there is more to come.

Seems like forever since I’ve read Coreene Callahan’s Dragonfury series. It took me a bit to recall the characters and her wonderful world of dragon shifters. But once I dove into this world, I quite enjoyed it. Callahan didn’t disappoint. The world of Dragonfury was still action packed, sexy and great for a weekend read.In this sixth installment of Dragonfury, we finally get to know Forge. Part of his past has been a mystery since he himself cannot recall what truly happened to his family’s murders. The plan is for him to undergo treatment with Hope’s help. As you have it, they have an attraction that is unavoidable and fate’s help, Hope discovers the hidden truth.
Just like the previous installments, Fury of Surrender was an enjoyable read. I confess because it’s been awhile since the last installment of this series, I had to scan through the other books to recall the characters and its world. I’ve miss this world of dragons. I love the humor of the brotherhood and what they stand for. I especially love the romantic side of them once they find their mates.
I like Forge and Hope but they are not my favorite couple. Don’t get me wrong, their story is sweet and sexy but I suppose my heart belongs to Bastian. I love that we got some page time from the previous characters, they are what makes this series after all.
Can’t wait to get more of this Dragonfury world. Welcome back, Ms. Callahan!

February 10, 2021DNF ... GAH!! I tried with this one. I really did. But even though I liked the premise, it was because this was the first novel in the series that I had read that made it so I couldn't follow it completely. In addition, I grew bored with some of the scenes. Basically, I gave up fully reading it around the 50% mark ... then skimmed it until I got to 75% before giving it up all together.
Sorry! On a side note ... It did have some cute sayings to use as quotes.

Furry of Surrender is the sixth novel of the Dragonfly series.
You can read this book as a stand-alone, but probable will enjoy it more if you know the previous books of this series. There`re different story lines which will connect through the novels of this series.
Forge, a former Razorback, is now part of Bastians Nightfury warriors. 50 years ago his entire family died through an brutal attack. Still suffering under nightmares every night, Forge can´t remember the details of this night nor can´t he remember the attackers.
The Archguard high councel and Rodin, leader of the travesty, had tried to convicted him of murder. Without Forge ever stepping into a courtroom or touching the male he´d been accused of killing. There is a bounty on his head with the threat of an killing order by Dragonkind elite....for lies.
Forge assumes that it has something to do with his past and the he`s still suffering. Something Rodin must be involved with. And since Rodin want to eliminate not only him but the entire Nightfury warriors... time is running out.
After a failed mind regression session, in which Bastian and Mac tried to retrieve the long lost memory, Forge nearly died. No longer an option to retrieve the memory, they decided to bring a human hypnotherapist into the secret lair.
Hope believes she is part of an covert military outfit, authorized by the government, to help an traumatized soldier.
Forge, being already under pressure to remember the past, didn`t react well at their first meeting. Being a high energy female, Hopes energy hit him like a freight train. His dragon half reacted so strong to her on first sight, that he is instantly torn between violence (like beating the shit out of Mac - who brought her in) and lust.
As a professional therapist Hope is conflicted to get involved with Forge, although she couldn`t deny either the instant attraction.
In the end she helped him remember in a way neither both of them would´ve guessed.
Hope and Forges bonding was fast, beautiful and very intense. I loved how they helped each other to overcome their fears and traumata.
Beside the highly emotional main part of this novel there was also a very interesting and also emotional side story about Mac and his painful tribal tattoo. It`ll be interesting to see how he´s coping with his "new friend".
Even Ivar had his emotional moments in this book. He´s struggling to find the antivirus to prevent further deaths of human women; caused through his highly resistant virus. He also has to decide if he`ll embrace the changes taking hold inside of him or cling to his old way of being when it comes to Sasha.
I really loved this book. So much happened in it and all this emotional turmoil...

3.5 stars. I was found Forge a really interesting character from the start of the series and so I was really looking forward to his story. As usual the characters were really charismatic and easy to connect with.
In 'Fury of Surrender' the overarching narrative of the series really takes a step forward, particularly for one character, and this was a really strong aspect of the book. However, I did feel that Forge and Hope's narrative did take a bit of a back seat which was a real shame. I wanted to there to be more time spent on Hope working with Forge to draw his memories out - Forge's memory revelation was kind of lost at the end, but perhaps the implications with be explored more in the next book. I also wanted to see more of Hope's response to G.M and Forge's identity as a dad but again perhaps something for future books.
One of the strengths of this series, compared to similar ones from other authors, is that we still get the opportunity to connect with other characters POV who were the focus of previous books. Perhaps inevitably though, as the cast of characters continues to grow, there will not be enough space to include characters we've come to love - JJ anyone??? - and for the first time in this series there felt too many characters and not enough time to reconnect with past favourites.
Overall though I enjoyed 'Fury of Surrender' and I'm really looking forward to seeing how the series continues in the next book.

I feel like I've been waiting to read Forge's story forever!!! I just recently got back into the Dragonfury series and I'm so glad I did. I missed these hot, alpha dragons and their sassy mates. Since the beginning of the series Forge has been a mystery. The sexy, Scottish dragon who has no memory other than losing his clan and the mother of his son. We've watched the Dragonfury take him in as part of their pack and now he finally finds his own mate.

It's been awhile since we have seen a new book in this series. It didn't take me long to get sucked back in to the characters and the conflict. In fact, I was so engrossed, before I knew it the book was over! I really wanted more!
Forge has been an interesting character all along. I was happy to learn more about him. Hope seems to be the perfect match. She is also friends with Mac so there is an added layer of trust built in. Once again, the author brings us non-stop action. Fights and sass and bad guys and intrigue. What I really wanted more of....was Forge and Hope. They kind of fall together as he realizes she is his special mate. But I wanted to see them as a couple more. How did they get to know each other beyond the physical? How does Forge envision his son fitting into their relationship?
I left with more questions than answers about the couple. However, the action and story line moved forward at a brisk pace. I can't imagine how this turmoil is all going to end (with the Fury guys on top, I'm sure ;) ). It is going to be one heck of a ride getting there.
You will want to read this series in order as the story line progresses through all the books. Great addition to the series. Can't wait for the next title!

It's Finally Here!
Although it felt like we waited forever for book 6 (Forge's story), I was not disappointed. Forge is one of my favorite characters so I was thrilled to read his story. The connection between him and Hope was very fast and resembled a runaway locomotive--just like the prior couples. Both damaged people who needed someone to cling to and who would listen and understand.
This book not only gave us Forge's mate, but Exshaw finally arrived. I’ve been waiting for him since Hamersveld told Ivar how he got Fen in Fury of Desire (book 4). I'm looking forward to seeing this new little guy in action. I’m sure he’s going to be a pistol.
While we didn't have a lot of scenes that included Forge’s son, there was some interaction with Forge, Hope and G.M. I know other reviewers were upset about this, but I felt it was just the right amount.
I really enjoyed the scene in the garage, with Gage, Osgard, and Forge. Gage’s protectiveness of the young man was really endearing. I also really liked the interaction between Osgard and Forge.
Oh, and we got a few really good scenes with Daimler. I love this guy! He really showed his personality with Hope in this story.
I intrigued by the way Ivar was acting in this story. It reminded me of how he was in “Fury Of Fate.” His development character wise feels necessary to me. In the beginning of the series, he was totally evil and the primary antagonist for the Nightfuries. Now we have a much larger number of bad guys so it’s interesting to see him continue to be developed. Although I don’t think he can be 100% redeemed, I’m finding myself hating Rodin, Zidane, and the Archguard much more.
I’m looking forward to book 7. I hope the wait isn’t as long as between books 5 and 6.

This series has me conflicted. I am loving the story line and can never wait to find out what happens next and where things are going. However, the couples are really starting to annoy me. It's not their fault though. I am just getting ticked off at how every single time each couple meets, they fall in love within a day (maybe a little more if we're lucky) when they don't know anything about the other. Except that they're possessed by an undeniable lust where all they can think about is jumping the other. I'm sorry, that does not form a solid base of love.
I liked Hope. More so in the very beginning, but still. Although she may seem in control of everything, she's not. When she was in college, her twin brother went into the campus library and killed a lot people before he was killed. It has definitely traumatized her, but her father makes it worse. A military man, he always pushed her brother too much, but he blames Hope for not seeing this coming. And so does she. With the anniversary of this just around the corner, she needs a distraction. One provided in spades when Mac and Angela come back from the dead and show up at her door.
I have liked Forged since the beginning, and he didn't really disappoint. I especially liked how he was able to prioritize things and make himself leave Hope when he needed to help another. The Nightfuries need to know why Forge's head is being called for by the Archguard. The secrets are buried in his head, but no matter what Bastian does, he just can't get to it without a terrible whiplash. With little other options left to them, they seek out human help in the form of Hope. Maybe hypnotherapy will work. At this point, it can't hurt to try. Forge was not informed of this though, and is blindsided when Hope arrives at the house. For more than one reason.
I knew it was going to be hard keeping Hope in the dark about the truth of what's going on, but I was definitely curious to how it would go. Considering the reason Hope was brought there, there actually never is even one therapy session. Because she is Forge's mate, the link between them provides the information they need. Just not in a way that Forge would have liked. Dragged into his nightmares of the night he lost his family, Hope experiences everything he did at that time. More importantly, she breaks thru what he has been blocking and he can finally remember everything. So it urked me some and made no sense when the book ends and he doesn't even tell Bastian. Wasn't that the whole point of this book??

It's while trying to capture Hamersveld for these answers that Forge gets his clue. And not a moment too soon.
Ivar has been working hard on finding a cure for his disease. With not a lot of luck. What I don't really get is how it has spread so far so fast. I thought the whole point of Venom going into the water supply and pushing himself like he did to last house was to prevent exactly this. Anyway. He finally gets it after many failures and rushes to the hospital. What he witnesses there hits him so much harder than he ever thought possible. Especially when he gets to the infants. When Ivar gets home, he can't stop himself from going across the street to Sasha's despite what happened last time. Good thing too, because somehow she had caught his virus. Now he finds himself caught in her web again with no idea what to do or why he thinks of her the way he does.
On the other side of the world, Rodin has managed to spin his lies and get the ruling he has desired. It wasn't easy, but sadly even Dragonkind can be bought. It's going to be open season on the Nightfuries and I can't wait to find out what happens next.

I jumped right into Fury of Surrender, the 6th book of Coreene Callahan’s Dragonfury series, without having read any of the other books. While I struggled with the romance between the two main characters, it’s a testimony to Callahan’s writing and the world she created that I fell in love with the whole cast of characters and the secret society of dragons.
I have friends that have read this series over and over and I can completely understand why. First up, it reminded me a lot of J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series. It has a lot of the same elements:
Secret society of paranormal beings
A brotherhood of warriors
Bonded males who need women to survive
A group of warriors and their mates sharing a home
Even some of the previous storylines, which are hinted at in Fury of Surrender, are a bit similar. And, like Ward does with her books, Fury of Surrender has multiple POVs, spreading the story out beyond MCs, Hope and Forge. I love a series that puts you back in the head of past characters, giving them more story beyond the happily ever after. And, there’s a lot of story in Fury of Surrender, one which I had sort of a rollercoaster-like relationship with.
Hope and Forge took a long time to grab me as a couple. I felt like I was told to accept them long before I saw it. There were also times that I felt that they were just there to sell the book as a romance because they didn’t seem very important to the overall story arc. Eventually, they sparked something in me that said “I like these two together”, but I wasn’t overwhelmed by it. I did love Hope. She’s funny and dealing with an awful past that I wished had been fleshed out more. I’ve heard from my friends that have read the entire series that I did miss a lot of back story regarding Forge and they’re right. I never really felt like I got to know him. While I get he’s been around for a while, I still feel like he deserved more.
There are two secondary storylines that are vital to the overall arc of the series: the mystery of Mac’s tattoo and Ivar finding a cure for a virus he released in a previous book. While I didn’t know any back story on these two, Callahan does a fantastic job of making it easy to understand what’s going on. I never felt lost, rather I found myself deciding I needed to go back and see how these storylines started. And, the dynamics between all the characters provided some of the best moments of the book. The relationships between all of them are close ones filled with affection and humor that was very engaging. This is my favorite thing about series romance and I loved how well it played out here.
My only true complaint is a subjective one: I had a hard time with Callahan’s voice. She’s extremely detailed in her action descriptions and her depictions are terse. This frequently slowed the pace of the story.

The 6th one was the worst one..
OK, I’ve read the DragonFury series and mostly I loved them but waiting well over 2 years for the 6th book I had forgotten that Coreene Callahan loves to write such nonsense, such stupid filler, to make the book longer. Things like: Hope looked through the peephole. She gripped the door handle. She unlocked the door. She TURNED the door handle. She opened the door. OMG! Who the hell cares? And then someone says one little thing, like “hello,” and then you have to read the author’s stupid narration page after page after page, telling you what is a boring story without anyone saying anything, waiting for someone to say something else so you can get interested in the story again. If you like dialogue in your books forget about this author. The only reason I decided to read this is because I read the rest of the series. AND I do want to know how it turns out in the end since I really liked all the dragons and their mates, but there was be a lot of skimming.
This just went on and on with stupid stuff, like Ivar and Hamersveld sitting in a hot tub on the side of a mountain to watch Ivar’s dragons practice battles, pages and pages of it. Of Hope beating the hell out of a leather heavy bag, on 2 different occasions, once in her garage and once at Black Diamond. Again pages and pages of it. Pages and pages of Forge and Hope’s angst over wanting each other. This is supposed to be the last book in the series so I thought it would be a lot more exciting. The most exciting part was at 80% when Forge and the other dragons went out to capture Hamersveld. Except they didn’t get him, after a long drawn out battle, and then Forge simply said he had to get back to the library at Black Diamond because he read something that might help Mac, who was lying in a coma. What? Oh, wait, before we go to the library let’s take a while to have sex with Hope, then mind-meld with her, then show off his dragon to her, and then take a shower.
And Ivar, the bad guy/evil dude in every one of the DragonFury books, spent all of his time trying to come up with a cure for the deadly virus HE made that was now killing human female girls, teens and grown women in record numbers.
Jeez! Amazon says this is book 9 of 9 so I thought this was the last book. Nope, it’s not. The end of this left it wide open for another one. Holy crap.
There was sex in this book but the story was so boring I skipped it. The F-bomb was used 120 times.
As to the narration: P. J. Ochlan did a great job with the narrating but even he couldn’t help the nonsense he was reading.

Some spoilers ahead!!
Even though it was quite a long wait for this next instalment I was just so happy to be back in the Dragonfury world, love those boys and the women they love and have re-read the books numerous times so I didn't feel lost picking up from where the other left off.
Loved Forge and was really looking forward to more from him but it did feel like he and Hope were secondary characters, so I was a little disappointed. Would have loved more of their relationship to shine through, how would she fit in with his son etc, he seemed a bit neglected in the story hardly being mentioned.
I liked Hope, more so at the beginning then towards the end though, She certainly was still traumatised from the loss of her brother and family history but it was good to see Forge supporting her.
Hope was brought to Black Diamond for therapy sessions with Forge, to help him remember information that the Dragonfury Dragon's needed, well they never actually got around to having any!!!
It all came out in shared nightmares....ok that's fine.....but why wasn't the information rushed to Bastian, wasn't that the point, it made no sense the information wasn't passed on in this book!
Mac and his tattoo play a large part in this book, that's ok too but I do feel it took some of the spotlight of the two main characters.
Now Ivar, not sure what plans this author has for him, he has been the "villain" in all the previous books and I really hope she isn't trying to make him "good" in my opinion he has done way to many horrible things to be ever redeemed. Yep he seems to be getting a conscious and trying to fix what he did, by inventing a cure for the superbug that is killing females of all ages, that HE himself purposely created. What I don't get is how it spread so quickly, I mean didn't Venom take care of that in the last book? He treats patients in Granit Falls but Sasha who lives near him has caught the virus???? Im not an Ivar fan and never will be.
Gage and Haider played huge parts in the last book but didn't really get a much of a mention in this one that I found rather odd.
Also Rodin got his wishes from the Archguard so I'm assuming that will a huge part in the next book??
I certainly like Forge and Hope, don't get me wrong their story is sweet and sexy but they haven't bumped Wick and J.J from the number one favourite spot!
Overall I still love the world and all the Dragonfury Dragons and so I will definitely be picking up the next in the series!

It all came out in shared nightmares....ok that's fine.....but why wasn't the information rushed to Bastian, wasn't that the point, it made no sense the information wasn't passed on in this book!
Mac and his tattoo play a large part in this book, that's ok too but I do feel it took some of the spotlight of the two main characters.
Now Ivar, not sure what plans this author has for him, he has been the "villain" in all the previous books and I really hope she isn't trying to make him "good" in my opinion he has done way to many horrible things to be ever redeemed. Yep he seems to be getting a conscious and trying to fix what he did, by inventing a cure for the superbug that is killing females of all ages, that HE himself purposely created. What I don't get is how it spread so quickly, I mean didn't Venom take care of that in the last book? He treats patients in Granit Falls but Sasha who lives near him has caught the virus???? Im not an Ivar fan and never will be.
Gage and Haider played huge parts in the last book but didn't really get a much of a mention in this one that I found rather odd.
Also Rodin got his wishes from the Archguard so I'm assuming that will a huge part in the next book??
I certainly like Forge and Hope, don't get me wrong their story is sweet and sexy but they haven't bumped Wick and J.J from the number one favourite spot!
Overall I still love the world and all the Dragonfury Dragons and so I will definitely be picking up the next in the series!

Fury of Surrender is the sixth book in the Dragonfury series by Coreene Callahan. This much awaited title comes to us after a two year hiatus which is why I had to re-read the previous books to contextualize everything before starting the new book. It brings to light new faces along with some of our favorite characters from the earlier books.
This book introduces Hope Cunningham, a hypnotherapist par excellence. She helps patients recover from their darkest memories and also remember memories suppressed long ago. But liberating wayward souls is not enough to exorcise her own demons and herpain, until she meets the one person who balances her.

Forge's memories about the death of his family need to be unearthed and they decide to bring in a specialist, Hope, to help him recover his memories. Turns out she's his mate and things don't go quite as planned. While that's going on there are several other story arcs. The mystery surrounding Mac, the recovering abused Osgard, Ivar who unleashed a lethal virus killing human women, Nian hiding from the Archguard, and the Archguard arch with Zidane and his father bent on wiping out the Nightfuries. While the dragons definitely need someone to manage their day to day household needs, Daimler smacks very close to J.R. Ward's doggen, so close that it seemed I'd stepped into the Black Dagger Brotherhood home, it was very jarring.
I like this series and the couple, but this book seemed all over the place for me. With all the story arcs, only the love story and Mac's illness are resolved leaving me hanging and feeling like the book wasn't complete. I would have thought we'd have seen the results of Forge actually recovering his memory and know what they were going to do about it but after Forge finally finds out who killed his family the story goes straight to saving Mac and then seems to have been relegated to back burner status. I hope the next book will resolve these things and I can get back to my happy place about this series.

I loved Forge's story with Hope. I wasn't expecting Hope to be who she was with her career and her tight friendship with Angela and Mac. It was so refreshing to see their connections again. I really enjoyed hearing from Mac again in this book. It's a little difficult to review this book because there was so much happening with other characters during this entire book but that's what I loved most. Even though there was so much going on, I was sucked in and couldn't get out. I was on edge with what was happening with Gage and Haider and unraveling what was happening in dragon politics.
Back to Forge. Poor man dragon, he had an extremely traumatic event happen in his life, it was so awful he buried so deep in his mind that he couldn't reach the information anymore. Hope came into the picture and was the one to help uncover what happened. She is such a great addition to the entire series with her ability to help with trauma. Ms. Callahan created the perfect match for Forge and the entire Nightfury family.
If you're starting this series, it's best to start in the beginning. I've reread this entire series 4 times and with all that, I will definitely say each book gets better and better. There is so much more depth in each story and details in characters as you read each book. Ms. Callahan's writing gets better and better! You're probably thinking "whoa this person has read this series 4 times?!?" Yep I did because I loved the characters that much!

What a story. This is the six books in the series. But the first
one I read. The story was amazing and extremely well-
written, so much so I plan to read the other books. They are
a really new take on Dragon shifters. I so loved this book.
This is Hope and Froge's story he is the Scott of the pack.
And oh how I love a Scottish brogue. And when a writer puts
it in. it is just magic for me. But Forge needs help. He has a
chunk of his past missing. And Hope may be his only way to
get those memories back. But when they meet it is explosive
to say the least. They are drawn to each other. And have
this instant need for each other. But before they can do
anything about it Mack is hit with this energy ball and lands
him in a coma. While they all try to find a way to save him
and his mate before it is too late. And then there is still the
threat to come. An evil dragons set out to destroy the night
furies pack. And they are not aware of what is coming.
I need the next book now to see what happens. But have
to wait. In the mean time I plan to read the other books in the
series.
Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you
enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book,

Let me start off by saying how impressed I was with how well this book stood on its own. It is actually the sixth in the series but I didn't feel lost or left out in the slightest. I really appreciate when authors do such a great job of allowing the book to stand on its own merit. Really encourages me to go pick up the previous books.
I really enjoyed the characters in this book. Forge is a dreamboat but he does have some attitude issues. He really needed a therapist to help him find his way. The fact that Hope is also his mate just makes everything better. And the secondary characters are well rounded which is another reason that I have to go read their stories.
The author also took some time with the setting of this book. It is set in the Puget Sound which is where I live. You can bet that I would have picked up any discrepancies.
I do feel that any of my readers that enjoy paranormal romance would really enjoy FURY OF SURRENDER. You might even find that you will be searching down the earlier books like I will be. There is some violence in this book but it is usually in dragon form. There is also some sex but nothing that goes overboard.

Okay, so... not my favorite. I was so excited for Forge’s book. SO excited. But I feel like at this point the character’s individual stories are being overshadowed by the larger picture and each book gets maybe 3 different character’s POV who have nothing to do with the main H/h. Fine, we get a full story, but at the same time it feels like lazy writing. There’s too much happening and I think honestly the series could be spread out better. Or, better yet, the author could put focus on more important things than sex every 5 seconds. We didn’t get more than about 3 words regarding Forge missing Caroline (who he supposedly loved and WANTED to bond with??) or even GM. We never had Hope give an actual proof of being a therapist outside of her talking to Gage. Instead we got: Ivar’s situation again, the exile thing, Mac (who I love but feel did not warrant this much impact on someone else’s book. He should have had a .5 book or something for what happened), and sex scenes. Also 16 pages in the first chapter for Forge to walk into an elevator. 16. I counted.
Overall: I still love this series. I really do. But I just think the author needs to figure out where the main story is going and how to balance it out better so we’re not getting 5-in-1 and missing out on major character developments.
