But not always for the better. Some love her, some hate her, but the one thing that is causing the city problems is Valerie herself. As a lightening rod, she needs to get out of the public's eye and allow the emotions to cool without her presence.
Whether she wants to, or not.
Trusting her friends, she drops back to the shadows to deliver the Justice Michael demands.
Why?
Because Judgement Has Fallen, and even the deep, dark places are going to realize they are not safe.

JUSTIN SLOAN wrote video games before becoming a full-time author, with credits on such games as Game of Thrones, Tales from the Borderlands, Walking Dead, and Marvel and mobile games. Now you can find his military science fiction and space superheroes books on Amazon, KU, and Audible.com. He taught Muay Thai kickboxing and Marine Corps Martial Arts, and can play three songs on the bagpipes. Justin holds advanced degrees in international relations/economics and creative writing. Oh, and he acted in movies for a bit - all small roles though.
This one is a little slower but still good. Valerie is looking for the CEO's and has found a bazaar at the edge of the city. She finds a clan of Forsaken and returns to her friends for help. She stages her own death. This is so they don't expect her. The action continues. Lots of blood and gore. Mostly it's just so addictive. Enjoy!
Another Great Installment of this series! Fantastic narration by Kate Rudd. (audible review)
This is such a great series! I love Valerie and all the characters in this series. She sure does kick butt and takes no names. LOL
This is a very fast paced exciting series. I don't what to give away spoilers so I won't. But if you haven't started this series I totally recommend you do! Its fun, exciting and non stop action!
As for the narration. It is great! Kate Rudd does such a super job on all the voices. She reads with emotion and has a great reading voice!
Try this series! Start from the beginning. Trust me you will be happy you did. I can't wait for the next audible release!
Judgement Has Fallen - a review by Rosemary Kenny.
Book 3 in the Reclaiming Honor series by Prince of the Paranormal Epic, Justin Sloan [in partnership with similarly prolific author Michael Anderle], resumes where Claimed By Honor (#2), left off.
Having defeated Strake, Valerie now disseminates and delegates her leadership role, as Justice Enforcer, between the members of her Team: Sandra, Cammie, (now Alpha of the Werewolves) Royland, (leader of the Vampires), Jackson Mercer, Wallace and Peterson (humans like Sandra and all three policemen, loyal to Valerie). Each has a separate commission, but must also work as part of the Enforcement Team to clear the streets of danger and degradation, so that honest citizens will benefit from the freedom of the new regime.
Valerie herself goes underground to remove the traders in vampire blood and the Forsaken - renegade vampires - who have worked with Strake and his ilk to profit from their evil ways. She must also persuade the populace to accept that she is not just a spoiled vampire princess on a power-trip, but genuinely has the interests of all at heart as she proclaims.
Who is Colonel Anderson and why does he oppose Valerie? Who finally captures/kills him? Who is Ella - and who is her brother? Which side does she fight on in the battle for control of the city? What were-animal does Diego turn into? Who turns into a were-bear? Who is Clive - does he help or oppose Valerie? Who does he introduce her to? Where does Valerie meet Cheryl and under what circumstances? What happens when they encounter each other again? Who or what kills the 'Tall Vampire' - and what effect does this have on the overall situation?
When this novel ends you'll feel as if you're emerging from an all-enveloping adventure to which you can't wait to return - it's as if the well-rounded characters become a part of your world that you can visualise and feel involved with at will. No sooner have you finally accepted the story has come to a close, you have the wonderful dawning of another episode waiting in the shadows of your nearest bookstore (or online at Amazon.com & all good sellers!). No doubt Justice Has Fallen, like Claimed by Honor and Justice Is Calling, will become staples on the bookshelves of true fans of all-action, fantasy, futuristic stories for many years to come...do your friends a favour and tell them where to get their hands on this wonderful epic saga!
So, don’t read/listen to the first 2 books by Justin Sloan and Michael Anderle then read the first 5 books by Michael Anderle then go back to Justin Sloan and read the 3rd book by him because you’ll be totally confused. All of Bethany Anne’s story came first THEN Valerie’s story began. I’m gathering that by a line in Justin Sloan’s Judgment Has Fallen and the book covers of Michael Anderle’s that Bethany Anne’s in space and Valerie has taken over the justice on earth, from all the power Michael gave to Valerie, just like he did to Bethany Anne. Wow, was that confusing? Simplified is, read/listen to Michael Anderle’s stories first, starting with Death Becomes Her. It’s really an amazing series if you like vampires, weres, shifters and sci-fi.
This was definitely exciting. Valerie decides she’s moving into the shadows to give the people the chance to see that she’s not trying to rule Old Manhattan, she’s just trying to bring justice and honor to it. So, she found her way to “the bazaar” to see if she could find out who was selling vampire blood. What she found was a fighting ring. She fought but she really had to hold back so she wouldn’t lose her cover, but she did anyway. She went back to Old Manhattan, got her vamps and weres and went back and kicked some ass. Oh, and she killed a lot, too.
As always, I love her crew, Cammie, Royland, Wallace, Diego, Sandra and, of course, Jackson.
No sex in this book but there were innuendos. The F-bomb was used 14 times.
As to the narration: Kate Rudd is awesome. Her voices and emotions are amazing. No matter what she reads I could listen to her all day.
Valerie has the most difficult job! It's ok for BA, she has the whole empire behind her but here is one woman, fighting to make things right in a city that resembles a bag of cats. Loving Cammie and Royland's burgeoning relationship, that woman is pure gold I love her smutty humour. As always the authors' notes at the end are so cool - Justin, your voice is just right for this series have confidence in your awesomeness! Gratitude as always to Michael for making all this happen, I think we all have a Snoopy moment when a character we love dies. On to the next instalment in the series!
Book 3 has arrived and Valerie is finding her role as assigned by Michael. It's one of those things where the more you kill the more the darkness is revealed and the more that seems to come after them all. Luckily Valerie is coming into her own and she is out to prove that Justice is here to stay and kick ass. A great addition to the Kutherian series and shows that Justin can do it himself and I think shows a different side to the overall universe and also something that might just appeal to new and old fans alike. Either way im in for the long haul with this series.
Let me see if I can explain. I'm loving this series and the offshoot books by other authors and M Anderle. I think my difficulty reading this was the sheer number of people's names, whether human, were, vampire, forsaken, whose side they were on, who they're involved with, and on and on! It took a long time for me to read, because I'd put it down in favor of something else if I got frustrated. But you know what? I just finished the book and liked it. Sometimes a story takes more effort, and you just go with it. So, I rated it 4⭐. Here's hoping you enjoy it too.
"Seriously, right this minute?" I had to laugh as in the middle of a climactic scene people are kissing while all around them Forsaken are dying. Way to go, Justin! You have a great writing voice and can keep the plot moving in unexpected ways. Valerie is growing up from the innocent vampire (is there such a thing??) to the vampire seeking justice. As in the way of all series, the refreshingly crisp plot moves without boredom. Michael A., you've done it and found another good one. Thanks for bringing Justin into the Gambit.
You know somewhere all these kickass characters are going to have meet the original kickass characters in whose stead they stand... in the meantime, Valerie and her crew are ruling the town and taking names and kicking ass.... this book takes us a little closer to the point of the big standoff with the main baddies... So hang in there and the little band get better at the teamwork... I feel a CEO going down in the next book...
Okay I am now hooked on this series I love it, amazing character growth and relationships begin too blossom. Really liking where Justin Sloan and Michael Anderle is going with this series. Also a huge fan of the Kurtherian Gambit universe overall. I get the feeling that Valerie plays for both teams with her and Sandras past kiss being hinted at often. Maybe Justin Sloan is planting some ideas here that will become relevant later? ;).
It feels like Valerie is still finding herself. I do miss not having a strong romantic partnership like the other KG series. Now in the author notes Justin says that if we love Michael's work but hate his there's still plenty to read (or something to that effect). Now this is still a fun series. Valerie reminds me a lot of Tabitha. I'd read it for timeline continuity even if I hated it lol.
These books are a slightly different tone than the main Bethany Anne stories, but that doesn't really detract from them for me. A lot of stuff is going on, and some of it feels slow in places, which is weird, because there's A LOT of action, but, that's just the way life is sometimes, odd bouts of melancholy and reminiscing, interspersed with mad moments of action (although, not usually this type of action) but, yeah, I like them, a lot.
I don’t know if I’m happy too many to read or sad too many to read
I enjoyed your book number three very much. Looking forward to starting number four. I’m perplexed and confused and somewhat bewildered, on how many different theories and different authors and different books are available. But I will do my best to do my duty to these authors and read as many as possible. So many books so little time life is grand
We still have a ways to go for Valerie, but I can make it. The author notes mention a publication date as 2016. I started Kutherian Gambit and stopped as book four was still being written. I picked up the series again about 5 months ago, and took only two breaks to catch up with other authors. Far too many Kutherian choices now, but you can read the YA stories for fun and less blood. Loads of fun!
I've really been enjoying the series. I've been a KGU fan for what seems like forever but I'm also a fan of just about everything LMBPN puts out. I love how it's created all these different side stories that allow people like yourself to take us on a great ride. As for the header its a joke. I enjoy reading the author notes as well. Thanks for what you do. Getting caught up in a good book can really make a difference in many peoples lives.
I find some of the writing to be stilted and it doesn’t seem to flow as naturally as it might which results in the reader being pulled out of the scene. I’m invested enough time that I’ll continue but I feel it could have used a little more massaging during the editing phase.
the blood trade continues. Valerie knows that in order to have her city begin to rebuild, she cannot be seen as the leader at the top. so she returns to the shadows, leaving her various factions to begin the healing process while she hunts. taking the fight to them is SO much more fun!
Valerie delegates the main care of the city to her friends and slips into the shadows to see what trouble she can find and BOY does she find it! Get ready for some great fights, humor and bonding. The weres, vampires, and humans band together to try to take back their city!
Justin is kicking ass with The Reclaiming Honor series. I think of Michael Anderle as a guardian angel of authors he brings in to his various universes. He brings them in and watches them fly. Justin is no different. He has brought this series along so well that I can't wait to see what is next. Enjoy!
Another fantastic book from Justin Sloan! I love the suspense the drama OK on I just love the badass vampire Valerie kicking ass along with Sandra and Cammie and royland Jackson . just the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Valerie is back and taking names!! The forsaken have reappeared and seem to be working for the CEOs!! Who knows what will happen next but I can't wait to find out!!!
The Kurtherian Gambit series is a short and fun read. This is a follow-on series in the same world built by Michael Anderle. Best if all are read in proper order, starting with the first book in the original series Death Becomes Her.
Very few slow moments in this book. Lots of action and serious body counts. It fits in very well with the whole Kurtherian Gambit series as well as stands on its own. I am anxious to get in to the next book. Join me and enjoy!
4.5 Stars! Love this book, series, and world these writers have created. Lots of action and adventures and the twist of characters is fantastic. Valerie is pretty darn cool under pressure and the storyline doesn't have a dull moment...great read!
Looking forward to the next book. Luckily for me it's already out, yes it's dark but there is love, hope, learning and maybe some people who have learned that different isn't bad.
Great fights up to the point where Valerie couldn’t take on 4 vamps with silver knifes? Really? She took on hundreds of vamps before but suddenly couldn’t....and whats up with another couple getting together?
Great storytelling, as usual. But it felt rushed. Mr Sloan probably could have separated the city story from the bizarre story and pulled an extra book without me feeling like a lot was left out. Still a very good read, tho!
I've read the original Kurtherian Gambit books by Michael Anderle and this series fits right in. Thanks for writing. I plan to continue reading as many related stories as possible.
As an avid reader, what I really enjoy, are good story tellers. Michael Anderle and Awesome Craig do this well. I am glad I found these books as part of the Kurtherian Gambit Universe, because Justin Sloan is another good story teller.
I have to say, I'm starting to like Valerie as much as I like Bethany-Anne. Both badass vamps. Characters you can love, and some you can hate. Justice is calling, and Valerie will be the judge, jury and executioner
