Mitch finally got the girl of his dreams. Jes finally realized that not all rock stars were the same. Finally, life seems to be back on track for them both, until a force hell bent on tearing them apart deals a devastating blow.
Now, Jes has been wounded badly and is fighting for her life. Mitch is afraid that just when he has found the one, she will be taken from him. A ghost from his past has reappeared and is trying to take the most precious thing in his life. He won’t allow it to happen, he can’t.
As they wait for news of Jes’s fate, Mitch, Brett and Becca will stop at nothing to make sure that whoever is responsible for her attack is caught. But this ghost has more sinister plans; plans that can change their lives forever. Can they stop her before she finishes the job?
It’s a long, painful road to recovery, physically and emotionally, but they’re strong and together, they can face anything.
**Contains spoilers from book 1, Perfect Timing, so if you haven't read it, do it now!**
When we left Mitch and Jes, they were finally getting their happily ever after, Jes was putting her stubbornness aside and letting Mitch in, and Mitch was working hard on taming the Monster (with Jes's help, of course)…then tragedy struck, and it struck Jes HARD.
Days, weeks, months…it all starts running together but the road to recovery seems to be never ending for both Jes and Mitch, as well as their best friends, Brett and Becca. And just when things are moving forward, something causes them to take two steps back. Who is doing this? HOW are they doing it? And more importantly, how can they be stopped?
It'll take the whole family together, with some outside help, but Jes is determined to feel safe once and for a while. And when her man is threatened, all bets are off. She'll stop at nothing to make sure they're safe from all things crazy.
I LOVE the build with the characters in book two of the Back on Track Series. It is such an emotional roller coaster, and I felt everything the characters were feeling. Heartbroken, hopeless, optimistic, happy, HOT…I was all over the place, and I couldn't stop turning pages. If you haven't fallen in love with Mitch and Jes yet, start with book 1. I promise you won't be disappointed!
3 1/2 Stars Can a book have too much of a good thing and turn it into just too much? Unfortunately for me the answer is yes. While the flow of this book is much better than the first outing the repetitive "I love you" and love scenes really didn't bring anything to move the story forward. Mitch and Jes are both in the hospital following the almost lethal attack on Jes from Christy, the psycho stalker, when Mitch sees Jes in the ER and learns how bad her condition is, he passes out giving himself a massive concussion. The whole book takes place in the hospital over a 3 month time frame with Becca & Brett taking care of both Mitch & Jes -Some of the best scenes are when the four of them are together or trying figure out why Christy can't be found or stopped after she nearly kills Jes again in the hospital. My favorite scene is drunk Mitch talking on the phone to Jes after Brett pulls him out of the hospital and away for a guys night at his house. At 92 % we finally get the confrontation we knew would happen . I will say that while Jes & Mitch never get angst- y or give up on each other, the story needed more than how much Jes & Mitch wanted each other - that was a given.
Missing A Beat is the second somewhat concluding part that leads on from Perfect Timing. The storyline begins in a similar fast paced manner with consistent emotions and evolving relationship dramas but then stagnates with superfluous dialogue, a stilted and repetitive storyline which is dragged out way too much. Details especially of a medical nature seem to be conflicting and embellish or tweaked to suit the story. The redeeming factor I found in Missing A Beat was the “bear” exchange concept. Overall the idea is good but seriously needs a rewrite to condense some of the emotion which doesn’t flow with the original storyline, and consideration of combining both parts as one book. I rarely find issue with books I read but this one just didn’t work for me.
Jes is in a medically induced coma, because book one ended in a cliffhanger. She was injured by Mitch’s obsessed pursuer. Mitch is not taking it well, even more so when he finds out how much their lives were intruded upon.
We get more Brett and Becca’s POV, what with Jes being in a coma.
Will Jes be ok? Will they catch the perpetrator!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I feel so bad for mitch in this book. He fought so hard for the one he love and someone hurts her. I couldn't stop reading this book, it has amazing characters and twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. You feel like you are in the book with how it sucks you in. Everyone should read this book.
This is an interesting followup to the first book in the series. It took an unexpected turn. Unlike the first book, this one is more intense. The characters are a little more developed. It's a love story with a little bit of thrill. It's an enjoyable read.
Picking up where the last book left off, this book wraps things up nicely. There were plenty of sweet and sexy scenes throughout the book. I enjoyed the bit of suspense that kept me wondering what was going to happen.
Sadly more sex spent in a hospital through most of the book. Near the end some story. Weird that the stalker is smarter than them all. Why as famous as Mitch is he doesn't have a body guard.
I love Jes so very much! It was really hard seeing such strong characters weaknesses but it needed to happen. I love that they are real and relatable. And seeing their love for one another as well as their family left me feeling like I was in their inner circle as well. I hated seeing this book end. I want to be in a love story like this when I grow up!
This was a great finish to an intense live story. . Mitch and Jes manage to keep their faith in each other and have their love grow stronger with everything they have to deal with and survive with a psycho stalker obsessed with killing Jess.. The feelings and emotions of the characters were intense and ... This book was steamy with a great story that had me hooked from the first book..
