This is not an easy read. But it is richly rewarding if you take your time. It makes you want to pray for a fuller outpouring of the gifts. For, as John of St. Thomas says, "Only one who experiences and tastes that the Lord is sweet can know the secrets of His whispering and the exaltation of His sublime breathing upon the heart" (p. 38).
