Brides of Chance Creek #2

Issued to the Bride: One Airman

Rate this book
Airman Connor O’Riley never believed in love until he saw proof of it in the most unlikely place — a battlefield in the middle of the Syrian civil war. Now he's in hot water with the Air Force, and if he wants to clear his name he'll have to put his new-found belief in love to the test — by convincing his superior officer's daughter to marry him.

Sadie Reed is done with love. Her poor choices nearly got her sisters killed when she fell for a man entrenched in the drug trade. She’s ready to leave Chance Creek — just as soon as her sister returns from her honeymoon. So when a handsome airman shows up at Two Willows, with orders from her father to help Sadie build a legacy project, she gives Connor one month to get it done.

Connor never thought he’d fall for Sadie, but when he learns she means to leave, he knows far more than his mission — and his future — is at stake. Can he convince her to stay?

Or will love remain out of his reach for good?

This is the continuing series about five very special daughters who run a ranch called Two Willows.
Their father has been away for years. He is a general and when he lost his wife, he couldn't deal with the pain of being at the ranch and around all the things that reminded him of her. This left the daughters to develop deep resentment for the man.

These five daughters raised themselves up. They are strong, with unique personalities and talents. There is a mystical element to the ranch and women, each with talent all their own. When the General decides to send them husbands, it does not go down easily.

This entry is about Sadie and Connor.

There are three elements I love in a romance: hot romance, humor and a touch of mystery. "Issued to the Bride" has all three with a whole lot of character development and slight paranormal overtones too. But, it is just a tad to long for a romance. This audio book was great and fun to listen to.

Connor O’Riley, an Air Force Airman, listened to his heart and landed in the General's doghouse of disgraced servicemen and the General has just the daughter for him. Now all Connor has to do is convince Sadie and that may be a problem for a player like this Irish hunk.

Sadie Reed has made bad choices in men and her last one was really, really bad. It almost got her sisters killed. Since the night of the shoot out her plants have started to die and her connection to Two Willows has been severed, until Connor touches her.

Sadie’s story.
In book 2 of Bridges of Chance Creek you will meet the next man on the Marriage Mission.
Connor is an airman, who was born in Ireland but moved to Texas when he was 10 with his father. His Mother and brother stayed in Ireland since both of his parents did not want to give up living in their own countries.

This is another amazing story of finding oneself. An action packed, steamy romance on the beautiful ranch in Montana. Cora makes you feel right at home with the amazing characters and beautiful scenery, filled with gardens, puppies, cattle and the magical power that only the nature of this place can take you to.

You can read this as a stand alone, but I would suggest it to be read in the order of the series because you will fall in love from where it began.

After successfully matching up eldest daughter Cass with Navy SEAL Brian Lake, General Reed sets out to marry his daughter Sadie to Airman Connor O' Riley. But Sadie has been burned by men in the past and has sworn off all love interests. But even she can't deny the heart skipping attraction of the Irish-American with his muscles and passion for working on her family's ranch. Will Connor be able to convince Sadie to stay at Two Willows and give their love a chance?

I enjoy Cora Seton's romances and my visits to Chance Creek. Seton keeps the plot moving and has me buying into the relationships real fast. As well, it helps that Seton has created a series of characters in all her different Chance Creek series that continue to pop into other storylines. If anyone is looking for lite summer reads, I would highly recommend that you start looking at Cora Seton.

This guy was a grade A douche. He kept flirting with anyone he could up until the last few chapters. He even had doubts about marrying Sadie on his wedding day. Pathetic manwhore.

The General still bugs me, but I am beginning to understand him a bit better.

On the night Brian and Cara wed, Connor shows up at the ranch. (as planned) The General has him here to assist Sadie with what she needs for the garden. To build what could one day be her legacy.

Meanwhile Sadie is struggling. Before the shootout at the ranch, she had a connection to the garden. Now though, that connection is gone, and her gardens are having issues. Sadie feels as though Two Willows is telling her to leave. Why else would this gift suddenly disappear? Yet the oddest thing happens when Sadie touches Connor. The smallest of touches brings back her connection. However the moment that touch stops, the connection to the ground disappears again. Is this Two Willows way of telling her that Connor will take over once she's gone? Well that's what Sadie thinks.

I'd talk about the trouble that comes to Two Willows, but that would give away a good part of the story. So we won't go there.

Onto book 3 I go. I'm curious to see how Hunter can assist Jo, and what will play out in their story.

This is book two in the series and so far I'm loving it and the series. Its full of action, suspense and mystery. Not to mention some hot love scenes. It's something about that rock and a thunderstorm that sets the love making on fire. Connor and Sadie had a connection that could not be denied. Talk about your other half. They make a very strong couple together. Sade lost her connection to the land until she fell in love with Connor who gave her the love and strength she needed. Some times I don't know whether to laugh or cry because each girl needs love and their father is making it possible but he's the one they need. I love the fact that the sister are strong and powerful and need very strong men to tame. Lol!!! This is a must read book and series. Looking forward to the next story. Knock, Knock, Whose there your future Husband!!!

Fun story.

Every time I read a Cora Seton book, I know it will make me laugh and cry. I enjoy all her characters and story lines. The idea of a sneaky father that hand picked men to marry his daughters,is too funny.

I started with book two and read to the end of the series. I loved it until I was a bit unhappy with the way the author ended it. Too many pregnant women and unresolved futures, just hopes and dreams. But I thoroughly enjoyed all of the books up until then. Each daughter was sent a soldier to fall in love with. This was supposed to allow the General to come home and take over control of the family ranch when he retired. Since his wife had died, his 5 daughters had taken control of the place running off any supervision he had sent their way.
Cass is like her mother in that she is the heart of the ranch, the little mother. Sadie is the gardener and has more than just a green thumb, having a psychic connection with the plants, Lena is the rancher of them all and runs the ranch her way, Alice is a seamstress and dreams of designing the costumes for a film, hopefully a Civil War one with lots of hoopskirts - she also gets visions of the future just like her mother did, and Jo, the youngest has a psychic connection with animals and raises McNab dogs. A bit of magic, you say? Add in a sentient ancient standing stone over 12' high in the middle of a protective maze that answers questions and is always right. Have I given too much away? There's plenty more to be found in this series the I highly recommend.

Issued to the Bride One Airman: Brides of Chance Creek Book 2 is by Cora Seton. This is a great series about five girls who are all different but who are all the daughters of General Reed. He was the head of NSSOCOM at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. He had a plan worked out in his mind concerning his daughters and some of the men who were working for him. The men had all done something to make them eligible for a dishonorable discharge; but General Reed was determined that would not happen. He has given them one chance to redeem themselves. Will it work? Will his girls be safe?
If Cass was the heart of the ranch, Sadie was the green thumb. She could grow just about anything and everything grew rampantly. Sadie could hear the plants tell her what they needed and then provided it for them. Now, after the fiasco with Mark, Sadie could no longer hear anything. She determined that this meant she was to leave the ranch which would break her heart. However, for the sake of the ranch, she was determined to do just that. Could Connor O’Riley fix everything while he built the walled garden?

This is the second book in the Brides of Chance Creek series. Technically, I suppose you could read this book on its own since it does have a HEA for the couple but I would definitely recommend reading the series. The first book introduced all of the characters and also set the stage for the secondary drama that continued into this book. In this book, the General sends Airman Connor O'Riley to meet and hopefully marry his daughter Sadie. Only one slight problem, Sadie has sworn off all men since her last disastrous boyfriend tried to kill her sisters and steal the ranch. For some reason, Sadie has trust issues, go figure. However, Connor is on a mission that involves not only his future but also that of his unit. And he is determined not to fail.
This was a great entry in the Chance Creek series and not just because of the great romance story between Sadie and Connor. It was also a great opportunity to catch up with many of the other residents of Chance Creek from Seton's previous books. Plenty of romance, some action and a bit of magic made this a great addition to the series.

Airman Connor O’Riley is the second military man set to his Two Willow Ranch where his five adult daughters live. This time he is sending Connor to his daughter Sadie in Issued to the Bride: One Airman.

Connor with his Irish background is a perfect match for Sadie and her special connection to the gardens at the ranch. They both have pasts with emotional issues caused by how they were raised and coming to grips is part of their romance. The magic when they connect to the ranch makes this a very special story. The action and threats, dog napping, rescues and roll Connor's family play in this romance makes it a special story full of second chances.

I have a love/hate relationship with this series I can see. I really dislike the military aspect from the sense that it's just really unrealistic. Like what is happening in this series would never happen in real life. Like EVER. I realize it's fiction, but I still like my fiction to be somewhat believable. In saying that, if you take that aspect out, the story isn't bad. This one was a little to insta-lovey for me, but I liked Sadie and Connor overall.

I normally like this authors very predictable formulaic romances. But wow I really disliked Connor. I got so tired of his excuses when he “messed up”. The constant flirting with other women and worry over whether he could commit. I really wanted Sadie to move on!

He gets kissed by OW. I know he did not kiss her but it really was his fault for leading her on.

Total douche!

DNF

18% into the book and it annoyed me. But the reason ...Sadie was immature the “paranormal “wasn’t for me. Also I like my Heroines to be not 22... save that for Historical romances where the young age is expected.

I enjoyed the story, Connor and Sadie make a wonderful couple and their story is interesting.
I like the emotion Cora Seton brings to her stories, I'm a firm believer in love at first sight, being I'm forty years married to the instant love of my life, but I am also a firm believer that trust takes time, a lot of time to build.

The General's choice for his daughter Sadie is Connor O'Riley.

Now Connor hasn't always believed in love, and strange as it might seem he saw it overseas. The real deal, love that lasts over time. He wants that too.

Sadie is the gardener in the family. Anything and everything to do with plants she can do. From growing them, to making elixirs for natural remedies. Unfortunately since she's decided to leave her home the plants have stopped talking to her. She doesn't know what they need and they're dying.

Yes the plants talk to her, in this book we see more in depth the magic of their ranch and the girls part in that. The maze with it's stone is the centerpiece from which most of the magic flows.

Connor went to the stone that first night, and asked his question. Of course the answer isn't quite clear, it never is.

The discovery that Connor's touch brought back her magic more than startles Sadie. She couldn't fall in love she has to leave.

While nothing in love ever goes smoothly, for these two it almost gets broken.

Let's not forget about the troubles in book one, they come back to haunt us in this one too.

Have I mentioned I love Jo's dogs?

Lots of fun, magical touches and a bit of drama.

Should read book 1 first...

I didn’t read the first book in the series, and I was able to figure out what was going on and what had happened in the first book from the second book. However, there are some things I’m sure I missed, like what’s going on with the General and his daughters, and what’s the backstory of their special knacks? I still enjoyed the second book, and the family of sisters seems well-developed and imagined by the author. The main characters are consistent, and have depth. The men interact in believable ways. The interior dialog seems believable for both protagonists.

The bad guys are under-developed, though. Maybe If I’d read book one, there’d be more details?

The romance is rather fast, and the action scenes (sexual ones and shoot out ones) keep the pages turning.

I’m interested in the story arc enough to want to read the next book and maybe go back and read the first one. The title of book two didn’t seem to have much relevance to the plot, though.

Great continuation of another Chance Creek series

For this second story, the General sends Connor to meet and marry his daughter Sadie. Connor has not settled down for anything since his parents got a divorce and his Dad took him to Texas leaving his Mom and brother behind in Ireland. But as soon as he meets Sadie, Connor is hooked. But she had been badly deceived by her previous boyfriend and doesn't want to trust in love. However, Sadie soon finds that she needs Connor more than she ever thought she would, and not in any expected way! Read this to see what I mean and if Connor wins himself one of the General's daughters.

The pace is fast and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character oriented storyline that has some action and some steamy scenes with no excessive detail. The characters are vibrant and kickass. Read these in order, to get the most from this series. If you like lots of emotions, a little paranormal feel and some action to go with your military (or former military) romances, then this is for you! Enjoy!

I love this series and this second book doesn't disappoint. Sadie is the second sister to fall to her father's airman sent to win her heart. Connor arrives during the wedding of Sadie's eldest sister to the first military man sent to win her heart. Connor arrives under the premise of helping Sadie build a legacy. Sadie has a special gift of being able to see things before they happen and to prepare special healing potions from the many herbs and plants that she grows in the yard. Unfortunately, Sadie and the girls have been having problems and especially Sadie as her plants are struggling to grow. When she normally could see and hear what's wrong with her plants, she can't anymore and not only are her plants suffering but also her patients.

Connor is there to help her build her legacy and she decides it's a walled garden. I love how Cora writes and how the relationship blossoms. Another great read!

One down, 4 more to go! In this novel the General sends his second military man to marry his second daughter. Sadie is in charge of the gardens and she is a local healer as well. But recently the land hasn't been speaking to her. She can't hear the needs of the plants and trees. And the last thing she needs is some paratrooper-wannabe-rancher getting in the way, especially since she knows what she needs to do, even if she doesn't want to. But then something miraculous happens, when she touches Connor, her ability returns! Couple that with the fact that he is incredibly sexy and she doesn't know what to do with him, it feels as if she has little choice but to fall for him.

A good laugh, a great read and an all out fantastic time- these are the things I've come to expect when I sit down to read a novel by Cora Seton. And each time I find that I'm charmed in a new way. This novel is no less great. It's exactly what I wanted and needed. This is turning into one of my favorite series.

This is the second one in the series and features Sadie and Connor. Sadie has a gift for hearing and knowing what the plants want to grow. But since the attack on the ranch, she can't feel a thing. When Connor shows up, she quickly realizes that he might be the key to helping her gift to come back.

This one was cute. I'm not sure I liked it as much as the first one. I didn't like how everyone kept thinking Connor was betraying Sadie just by talking to the bartender in a bar. Just because a guy smiles and maybe flirts a little doesn't mean they are going to be unfaithful. I thought that was all a bit much. Besides, he did have a reason for doing it. He was also kind of a flirty guy. I liked him more than I liked Sadie. She was a bit too weepy for me. But I thought her gift was kind of neat. The ending was pretty nail-biting. It was a good addition to the series.

Meh. This was ok. I wasn’t crazy about the Hero or the heroine. Big factor when trying to enjoy a book.

The Hero (of course) never had a relationship before. Just lots of random hook up girls. 2 that are still texting him. Which the heroine sees. Ummm ever hear of the block option? And he uses his Irish brogue to flirt with women to gather intel. Which he does. Twice. After deciding to move to Montana and marry the heroine. But he comes from divorced parents see.....Oh give me a damn break. He was a shitty hero.

The heroine was a bit annoying too. But I like her sisters, Alice and Lena. I look forward to their books.

We get cameos from other characters in previous series. Cab. Still my fave. The local sheriff. And the one Cooper brother. The hot one. Both these characters point out the hero’s douchbagery. Loved that!

I listened to the Audiobook. This was not one of my favorites. I didn't really care for either Sadie or Connor. The whole flirting thing he had going on was irritating. I don't care if flirting is second nature to you, you know when you are doing it, and you know if you are trying to have a serious relationship with someone, you shouldn't be doing it.

I will give Sadie being able to communicate with nature, but when she discovered the connection with Connor, it felt like she was trying to use him.

There was action, suspense, some intrigue, romance, and steamy scenes. The narration didn't do much for me either. I feel badly about it, but it made me want to pick up the book and just read it.

I was able to listen via the free 1st month Romance subscription through Audible.

General Reed strikes again. He has sent Connor to find, help, and marry Sadie Reed. Sadie has been damaged by the men who came to the ranch pretending to be suitors, who were actually dope dealers. She doesn't trust, and more importantly, she has lost her knack for "hearing" the voices of the plants in her extensive gardens. She finds that when Connor holds on to her, she can hear her plants again, so he's useful to have around. Connor helps her build her dream of a walled garden and also heals his broken family by inviting them to a wedding (that hasn't been agreed to by the bride yet!). There is also a visit from a troublesome person who is the harbinger of more trouble for Two Willows. Never fear, however, a new man is being sent by the General.

Enjoyable heartfelt read!!!!

Sadie was a women who.loved her family and the Ranch she grew up in. But she had betrayed them. She wss no longer wanted.
Noone wanted her.
Conner lived life thinking love wasnt teal or needed.he had been forced leave everything he loved. He joined the military and even that was being taken.
Cora Seton brings you emotions and a journey that you won't forget. Each page brings you more. Love lost, betrayal, pain. The jouney to love is never easy...........but will it be worth it.
I am so looking forward to the next book in this series. Whst a truly great read.
