The evil Djinn has been banished, but Marielle’s supposedly happy days are still filled with fear. She feigns a settled appearance but is continually on edge because of Akeelah’s threats of a painful revenge.
When Akeelah does reappear, Marielle’s notions of the creature’s cruelty are surpassed. The Djinn is worse than Marielle ever imagined. Akeelah is crazed, ready to cause a deadly chaos, and willing to so whatever it takes to unveil the secrets which will give her power over human souls.
During her quest, Akeelah captures Faris, Marielle’s one and only love. They are torn asunder, leaving Marielle on her knees, brokenhearted. Without him, she is not whole. Anger brews slowly within her. The situation is personal now, and she’s not about to sit idle and let her grief win. She will do whatever it takes to get her one love back—even if it means putting the entire human race at risk.

4.5/5 stars. I have enhoyed so much reading this book. I have liked everything about it, the characters the plot and how everything is better than in the first book, when usually is the other way around. Can't wait to read the next book.
I've enjoyed this series thus far, even if it doesn't have the best editing. For some reason, I imagine Julia Whelan would be a great narrator if this was ever made into an audiobook. (If that happens, please fix the editing errors first.)
Two Hearts Asunder was a pretty good second book, and I don't feel like it fell victim to Second Book Syndrome. The action kept up, and the characters did, too. Of course you've got the period of happiness before everything goes wrong, but at least the characters themselves didn't give in to despondency. After a brief mourning for what was lost/taken away, Marielle got to work finding a solution. And although Faris was taken by Akeelah (kind of by his own will because he was trying to do what was right), he still rebelled and sought a way out of it. I also feel like I got to know Abby and Maven better in this book, which was nice because in the previous book I wasn't a huge fan of Abby's. In this book, it's easier to see why they're friends.
I loved the continuation of this adventure. I feel the author has really created a fantastic world that I was able to fully escape to.
Marielle is a character I really enjoyed following. I think her perspective on loss and doing what it takes to take care of those you love is daily realistic and entertaining.
Her Faris makes my heart break every time he can’t tell her he loves her. That is a real sucky feeling and I loved the tension it made.
Maven is someone I do feel bad for. Love triangles always have a loser, but I think I smell a satisfying plot line for him with Abby. I really enjoyed them tagging along in the adventure.
The setting is fantastic as usual. This author knows how to really tie in a world wide adventure with colorful cultures. I highly recommend this book to someone who enjoyed traveling, fantasy, and a high speed romance.
This book dealt with many human weaknesses and shortcomings sharply contrasting with Faris' selflessness and kind nature. It was very easy to become a big fan of the half human-half Djinn character. Throughout all of the difficulties and dangers that Marielle and her friends encountered in this book, I continued to hope that there was a chance their situation would improve and they could return to the normal life they once lived. I continue to hold out hope for them because I have also become attached to Maven and Abby along with Marielle and Faris. This story was a fast-paced action packed episode that exploded with one bad situation after another. The suspense continues to build as the crazies continue to have the upper hand and control Faris and Merille's destiny. Great to read-Exciting story-Left Wondering What's Gonna Happen Next!!!
I got this book as an ARC for my honest opinion and review. This is the second book in this series. This story was filled with a lot of emotions. It made my heart hurt at times. I did not think this one would be so dark. It is kind of different from the first one. Marielle has been separated from her one and only love, Faris. Who has been taken away by Akeelah. Marielle is left broken, but she is not going to let her pain, fear, and broken heart keep her down. She is going to get him back not matter what the cost is. She is throwing cautious to the wind. Who is she willing to sacrifice to get her love back?
I really liked this book. I found that it was a good solid second book in this trilogy. It picks up a little later on from where the first book left off. Her two best friends play a bigger roll in this book as well. It moves pretty fast and I had a hard time putting it down. It had several different Points Of Views, including Akeelah (the very evil Djinn), which also helped with the plot lines. I still find the characters engaging, although Marielle can still be a little annoying, but she is only 19 years old. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next.
Just as things begin to settle down for Faris and Marielle things go crazy again. A djinn may not be able to physically harm a human, but it's easy to find other twisted humans who would do anything for power and money. Faris chooses to leave out of his own choice with Akeelah believing he is sparing Marielle, but Akeelah is not exactly known for keeping her word. On the other hand Marielle would do all she can to get Faris back safely...even contact a recluse Djinn expert. It may not have been the best idea she ever had....
Akeelah is a very, very mad character! And Faris and Marielle are really one of a kind... Each one trying to save the other, no matter what the costs could be, even the anihilation of all mankind. This is a kind of tragic love, when you thought everything is OK and they finally could have their HEA, something really bad happens! I hope Zet could find the force to forgive his brother and obtain his freedom... One star less for the cliffhanger. It is one of the best new series I've read this year so far. I recommend this book.
This book is definitely a lot darker than the first, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Though I did enjoy the first one more because this one had a lot of suspense/crime, full of twist and turns. The revenge Akeelah has on Faris and Marielle, I recommend reading this series for anyone who enjoys YA/fantasy novels. I can't wait to read the final book in the series! I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This one is different from book one. Romance is not on the first ground right here - more important s struggling to fight the evil even when Elle and Faris are separated. I really enjoyed the pace of this book but it was in few places a little too predictable to me. Still, I really enjoyed reading about Elle - who was so strong during some events on her way.
My fourth read from Author Ingrid Seymour continuing the story begun in One Wish Away. A well-written, well-developed story with well-developed characters. As in my first three reads from the author I couldn't wait to turn the next page.
Truly a great storyline and exciting reading. Undulating place to place. Faris, taking the lead as a Djinn and saving his love. Can't wait to read the next book. I received a complimentary copy of this book for voluntary review consideration.
I enjoyed One Wish Away and was excited for this one. I know I’ve said it before, but I’ve liked everything that Ingrid has written. While I’m not disappointed with Two Hearts Asunder, unfortunately — I’m not impressed, either.
A very quick and fun read. I loved following Marielle & Faris, and the drama and situations that they found themselves in at the hands of Akeelah. There was a full cast of sleezeball characters, too. However, I just wasn’t hooked.
Some parts of the book dragged on rather slowly, while some parts were hard to follow. I liked that it was a little more dark and mysterious than the previous in the series, and while it did focus a bit on the romance — it wasn’t a crucial element like it was in One Wish Away.
Overall, an exciting read but might suffer from sequel/middle book syndrome. I’ll be reading Three Words Promised because I want to finally have Faris say the words and become human!
Quite honestly, I was not sure what to expect with this novel. The first installment in this series felt like it could have been a stand alone novel, with a few tweaks. I started this book thinking there was not much more story to tell. However, I was wrong and really enjoyed Two Hearts Asunder!
The book picks up where the last one left off, with Faris and Marielle concerned for their safety from the Djinn, Akeelah. Their goal: to get rid of her once and for all so they can be together. This book incorporates Akeelah much more, as well as Marielle's friends Mavin and Abby, which I liked. There are some fairly dark and violent parts, but nothing too bad that a wimp like me couldn't handle! This is a fast read and great for teens and fans of YA. It's also very different from the common vampire/werewolf YA themed novels, as it takes a spin on the "Djinn", a subject rarely tackled.
In conclusion, I recommend reading this series for anyone who enjoys YA/fantasy novels. I can't wait to read the final book in the series! * I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
~I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review Ingrid Seymour always captivates me with her YA stories. Two Hearts Asunder is the sequel to the Djinn series, and it is truly action-packed. Just when we think that Marielle and Faris finally have a chance at happiness, the evil Djinn Akeelah shows up again, intent on finding a way to create her own army and subsequently rule the world. She is unscrupulous and will do anything to reach her ultimate goal, so when she finally traps Faris, things take a turn for the worst. Against his will, Faris has to disclose the secret to creating an army of Djinn, forced to do so when Marielle's life is at stake. Marielle, on her end, is trying to find a way to reach Faris and faces her own troubles when thugs are sent her way. When Faris and Marielle are finally able to reunite, a maelstrom of obstacles ensue. With the help of Maven and Abby, they all work together to stay away from Akeelah, but that all fails when Dr. Gallardo, someone they were hoping would prove helpful in destroying Akeelah, is actually more interested in summoning her for his own interests. Will Faris and Marielle's love prevail?
Two Hearts is a masterpiece of action, suspense and love blended together in an engrossing paranormal tale. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
In the sequel to One Wish Away, the stakes just got higher! Two Hearts Asunder is fast paced and contains a lot more action. Our leads spend much of the book separated but the story alternates between both of their points of view to keep us engaged. We also get a view from Akeelah, the main villain in this installment. Her chapters show how twisted she really is. Marielle steps up and shows that she is more than a damsel in distress. Her two best friends get a larger role as well. (There is hope for Maven yet!) Faris, however, takes a step back and frustrates me to no end with his decisions. (Even Akeelah comments on his poor decisions at one point.) While One Wish Away mostly wraps up its storyline, Two Hearts Asunder barrels to a cliffhanger ending that leaves a lot hanging in the balance. I can't wait to see how it all ends!
Exceptionally excellent read in my opinion. Like a modern day captivating "Arabian nights", sparking the readers imagination and interest, it is impossible to put this book down. I had greatly looked forward to this book, and miracles, or should I say wishes do come true, it was given to me (ARC)..but regardless of that my infatuation with this book is genuine and true. Already from page one a series of magical (and non magical) events, expertly woven into an intricate intrigue with unexpected revelations and fast paced twists, that ensures you'll want to eagerly turn another page to find out what will happen, there is really not a single dull moment. The characters are vivid, every single one, from the über sexy Djinn Faris , the street-smart Marielle, to the .. Aah.. ^^ No spoilers..... Those main characters you know, but the to get the rest you have to allow your self this amazing treat.. For it is just one wish away
Second book in the series. This story is a continuation of the first. Marielle and Faris continue the fight to protect each other and others from the evil djinn Akeelah. The djinn is set on destroying humanity. But because of the creater, who created man, angels and djinn, she is unable to hurt any human directly. But this time she will use human henchmen who will do and kill anyone for fun and power.
The story has violence. The romance is mild between the two characters. Suitable for young adults and older who enjoy paranormal romances.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
Marielle and Faris are enjoying their new life together, but the joy is short-lived. Akeelah has not forgotten about them and is working on making her evil plans a reality! Confronted with magic that far exceeds his own and the realization that keeping Marielle safe may be beyond his power, Faris struggles to keep Akeelah at bay.
With murders, sociopathic organized criminals, blood and betrayal, this book is definitely a lot darker than the first. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can honestly say I liked it better than One Wish Away. I can't wait for book three!
The second book in the series. Not for younger readers as there is some semi-explicit scenes in it. Really enjoyed it, We got some great descriptions of how the djinn were cursed in the first place and some wonderful plots twists along with the usual teenage romance story continuing from the first book. If you're looking for a small amount of adult romance mixed with a fantastical tale not an epic fantasy this is definitely for you. It's a fairly short book so if you're a speedy reader it'll only take about an hour in one sitting a few if not.
I enjoyed this book, even more than the first. The author created a unique way of spinning the story about Djinn and wishes and the story was well written. It does leave us with a cliffhanger but it is a trilogy.
What a great book 2 to the Djinn series. The story picks up after book 1 and was well written and full of twists and turns, love and revenge. I was sucked into the story and surprised a few times. Once started I just had to see what happened next. Romance is present but not real heavy so easy to read more for the fantasy/paranormal part of the story. Totally worth reading book 1 and then 2 for a great story.
Two hearts Asunder in the Djinn Empire Series continues where the first book left off. The suspense thru out the whole book makes it so you do not want to put it down. Ingrid Seymour brings Akeelah more into the plot. Akeelah wants to get rid of all humans, Can Faris and Marielle stop her? Abby and Maven who are Marielle's best friends join her in trying to find a way to get rid of Akeelah, only to find a person who will not give them the spell. Will they be able to get the spell and save human kind? Can't wait to read book 3 to find out. This is a great read for teenagers and young adults. I would recommend this series so far for them to read. I received a arc copy for my honest review.
Marielle's true love has been taken by the cruel Dijin , but she is not going to let it break her. She's ready to fight. Lovely story and appreciated receiving an ARC
